I don't understand the idea that games aren't making the most of the PS5's capabilities when big games seem to have endless problems with giving a smooth framerate, etc. What part of it isn't being fully utilized?
I feel like my interests align with the reviewer so this is a review I can trust. Open world design in most games is just tedious for me. Add to that I can't stand parry-based fighting systems this sounds like a skip.
I think Days Gone deserved the bad reviews it got, it had boring traversal, bad and even toxic characters, boring love story, repetitive gameplay. The one innovative thing- the hordes- didn't really come in until the very end of the game so it had pacing issues too.
Does the color pop more in different areas of the game? All the screen shots I've seen look pretty drab, and I remember the original game was more colorful.
I'm still on a ps4! I've set my sights on a ps5 for next year, in time for Grand Theft Auto 6. I've been working through all the games I bought on sale over the years, there's a lot of them so I have a lot to do before next year, ha. Luckily, the sales have been such crap lately that I haven't even been tempted by anything in quite a while.
I can't think of a single game that sexualized a male character in the same way with outfits. Criticism of the treatment of female characters is legit, and yes this kind of thing is harmful to women. It's fine if you don't care because you personally like it, but just admit it up front instead of rationalizing it.
This is a money decision nothing more. Live service can be monetized in many different ways and that's all they care about so they will keep pushing this until nothing but some form of live service or free-to-play gets made anymore. The bean counters and execs have spoken, single-player will be a relic of the past.
My old man reaction times are probably too slow for this, usually are with indie games of this nature. But if it's true about an easy mode being added, I'll check it out.
I didn't like 13 Sentinels or Odin Sphere. 13 Sentinels had an interesting story at least, but the gameplay... ugh. Really leaves me wondering why it would be called a "borderline masterpiece". Sounds like it's another game for fans of the existing work, but won't bring any converts into the fold.
I waited for the PS4 Pro last gen and don't regret it. Now doing the same this gen. I'll be getting my PS5 this time next year or so, depends on how much of my backlog I can play through.
I had read this game was being compared to Nioh, which I bounced off of so I wasn't that excited, but then I read this: "Notably, there are different support features that will make the game accessible to those who aren’t as familiar with action games" and now I am interested again!
I don't care, and pay no attention to trophies at all. I have notifications turned off so they don't interrupt my game. If I've ever gotten a platinum, it was inadvertent.
I still remember a certain point you pass by often in DD where a pawn says "blah blah something time immemorial", every single time you went near that spot. Now I cringe whenever that word immemorial is used anywhere I see it.
@TechaNinja The whole point is you're not supposed to be finished playing them yet so you buy them after they leave the service. Does that work? I'd be interested in a report on that.
I never did figure out half of the dice and other japanese mini-games in Yakuza 0 but yet I still find myself planning on playing more of these games in the future. I have Kiwami 1 & 2 in my back catalog, so one of these days I will get back into it.
I have no real interest in playing the original Tomb Raider games again, but if I had to choose, I'd pick Anniversary over the original Tomb Raider. From the list I'd say Dragon's Dogma has my attention the most, cautiously optimistic.
I think it's OK for Spidey to get #1. I know it's not a factor in the process but if you think about it, intended audience should be a factor. BG3 is not for everyone, especially not kids, whereas Spiderman can be played by anyone of any age. Same for Alan Wake, horror games are just not going to appeal to majority audiences. So it's an accomplishment to make a great game that is playable by a broader audience.
So I've never played RE4 mostly because RE3 was so meh, it turned me off from the series. It's been a looooong time since I've played a RE title. I'm curious how a fan of RE4 would rate RE3 in comparison, if you can even remember, ha...
It's rare that I'm interested in all 3 games for the month, and I haven't bought any of them, so I think this is a great month for Plus games. I enjoyed the first Plague Tale game but I hope they've toned down the violence against animals in this sequel.
My back catalog ruled this year. I finally got around to checking out Fallout 4, my first Fallout experience, and ended up sinking 343 hours into it. That's a lot for me, I usually move on before that many hours. Followed by Immortals: Fenyx Rising at 160 and Death Stranding Director's Cut at 126
I never found the original games to be scary. In fact, using your gun to cut off their limbs was pretty hilarious to me. Is the remake actually scary, do you still cut off their arms and legs?
I always viewed the original Kratos as a parody of masculinity. I laughed a lot at his lines in the first 3 games. Throw in the jokey sex minigames and you have what I thought was a fun beat-em-up game with a sense of humor.
I'm only going to try Power Wash because I genuinely don't understand the appeal and need to see what it is myself. A couple hours should do it. Yes, I could look at videos online but that isn't the same. I swore off the buggy Lego branded games a long while back and I don't think I'll be changing that point of view. Sable looks cool.
I am excited for this game because I loved the first, but I have to say the color palette of the screenshots so far are drab looking. The first game was very colorful and I'm missing that element in the screenshots I've seen so far.
I never knew the source material as a kid, but this main mech character and a few others were marketed as "shogun warriors" toys in the 70's in the US. They were 2 foot tall jointed plastic with various weapons that would not pass safety standards today. Like plastic missiles shooting out of the chest and one of the fists shot off as a ranged attack. This might have to be a nostalgia purchase for me!
I loved the first game! Part of it's charm for me was the hilarious dialog of your companions, I hope that element remains. I also loved the online element where the second character you create goes off to other people's games and comes back with treasure. I still remember the first time I encounter a chimera just wandering around some woods at low level, I nearly dropped the controller (and died of course).

I didn't realize this game had a parry-based fighting system. Oh well, probably not for me. Looks good though
Re: 6v6 Hero Shooter Marvel Rivals Officially Announced, But There's No Mention of PS5
I was a comic book nerd as a kid and have an instant attraction to anything related to marvel or dc, but no, hard pass on this.

A totally underhanded way to go about it, they deserve the backlash they'll get.

Re: Preview: Rise of the Ronin Shows Promise, But It's No Showstopper Yet
Difficulty levels are a plus - I bounced off of Nioh- but "standard open world" is a big big minus, I can already feel the repetitive tedium.
