Re: Summoner (PS2) - Ambitious RPG Remains a Relic of the Past

Dragon83

@Zenszulu for me gameplay and story trumps graphics. Sure there are issues like camera angle etc but if you look beyond graphics and look at the ganeplay, story, world building . For its time it was one of the best games . It may lack polish but more than makes up for it in other areas.

Re: Summoner (PS2) - Ambitious RPG Remains a Relic of the Past

Dragon83

Unfair review. It's a ps2 game. The main issue that too many games are way too focused in graphics and only last 15-20 hours. Trying to compare a ps2 game to current ps5 games isnt fair . The story/world building and characters are so much better than most modern games if you look past the graphics

Re: Reaction: Sony's Billion Dollar Bungie Buyout Is Looking More and More Like a Blunder

Dragon83

Definitely one of sonys worst moves. Sony way overspend for acquiring bungie. I get why though. Sony wanted bungies experience in live service and looking to earn a lot of money with various live service projects/games. However the gaming community is a lot smarter , me and many others are not interested in paying for live service content. I made the mistake of trusting bungie , paying for yearly content from destiny for almost 9 years , after 6/7 years giving content away for free and locking away content because they couldn't handle how big it got , yet ff14 /square enix managed it fine - yes its taken a lot of work after it bombed but they turned it around - a much better partner for live service imo.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Rise of the Ronin?

Dragon83

Never played a nioh game yet, mainly stick to j-rpgs though have dabbled in elden ring . Generally not a fan of open world gsmes as map is usually cluttered with repetitive tasks and story is stretched too thin

Re: Reaction: What Is Happening to the Video Games Industry and Why Are There So Many Layoffs?

Dragon83

@WafflingHearts I totally get it, easy money. I wish Jak and Daxter got a conclusion and sly racoon. Not many companies are taking risks, a lot of remakes and remasters. There's a lot of good r-rpgs coming out, can't wait for penny blood and armed phantasia next year plus trails into daybreak this july but not much in terms of action/adventure type games. I'd love another true crime/sleeping dogs game . I know big hitters can now take about 5 years to make

Re: Reaction: What Is Happening to the Video Games Industry and Why Are There So Many Layoffs?

Dragon83

In my honest opinion it's because they are spending too much money on making games with no real innovation. Mostly remakes and remasters. Naughty dog remaking a game that's only 2-3, years etc also spiderman 2 cost 300M but it wasn't that different from spiderman 1 , a lot of palette swaps, enemies with the same attacks, similar minigames. It was only the last third of the game that changed things but only slightly also its can be completed in 20/25 hours - not worth the £70 price tag . Not worth 300M. They need to make it fully open world with loads of activities. Would love a spiderman unlimited game set in alternative earth

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?

Dragon83

I played the demo, it reminded of the OG prince of persia released in the late 1980's, not a fan, too many traps . May pick it up when it's on sale under £20 . I still hope they remaster the sands of time. Also ubisoft have shot themselves in the foot by suggesting subscription models -clearly profit greedy. I personally don't subscribe to subscription models , think it's ruining the gaming industry

Re: Sony Reversing PSN Account Bans, Still Hasn't Offered an Explanation

Dragon83

@IOI to be fair all digital storefronts take 30% it's not just Sony. I'm pretty sure this was the recent court case between epic store and Google. So if anything it could cause a major shakeup in the way storefronts operate. If the person on the class action win . I mean the reason digital prices are high is to keep standard brick snd mortar shops open though personally I use online retails like the game collection /shopto etc. I rarely buy digital unless there's a really good sale on or exclusive digital deluxe version

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?

Dragon83

Bg3 for the win, ff16 wasn't great but still second choice Copy and paste enemy skins and aummon abilities were just copies from the first summons abilities with variations on elements , loved the eikon boss battles , thought the end boss was weak narratively ]plus party system wasn't great - overall preferred ff15. Spiderman 2 was also weak at story and pretty much exact same gameplay as spiderman 1 and miles morales . The symbiote combat was a nice addition but not enough to save the lackluster story. So had to pick trails games of course . Also enjoyed assassins creed mirage but bottom 5 as felt ubisoft didn't put a lot of effort in overall. Really look forward to 2024 though Townes of j-rpgs out in the 1st qrtr

Re: Best Yakuza / Like a Dragon Games Ranked: Which Yakuza Games to Play and Where to Start

Dragon83

As a yakuza vet (played every single game , thats come out in the uk) this article isn't quite accurate. Previous characters from next game in series still get referenced; while it's not one big story its still all related, especially latest like a dragon: gaiden. Also the point the judgement/lost judgement doesn't tie in with like a dragon/ yakuza games isn't entirely true either as Kaito appears in a side quest in like a dragon: gaiden that happens before lost judgement

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Is a Lock for Game of the Year, According to Most PlayStation Fans

Dragon83

Agreed! Bloody amazing but very hard game. On my 4th attempt playthrough, over 130 hours now. Tbh there's been no game that's came close, no microtransactions , no content ripped out and remade as dlc, very few bugs. Been very few good games this yeah. Imp spiderman 2 fell short, story wasn't the best and similar/recycled gameplay - venom like power were cool but been don't better . Not many gsme makers take risks anymore. Been a lot of remasters the last couple years

Re: Poll: Are You Buying a PS5 'Slim'?

Dragon83

Had my ps5 since launch, later interations have been worse and worse by reducing the heat sink more and more; will mean it'll get warmer more often I would only replace if my ps5 somehow breaks probably skip on the pro as well , as ps6 is meant to be out at the end of 2027/28

Re: Bungie CEO Laments 'Sad Day' for Sony Studio Following Layoffs

Dragon83

@DixyViking that kind of how an rpg works new expansions. Old gear become obsolete. Hell even normal rpgs when you go to a new town you have to buy new weapons and armour personally I haven't been a fan of xestiny since they changed the game model to focus in a battlepass. Grinding over and over to get points. Also a large amount players left it . Especially after spending 300+ for expansions and then bungie gave the gsme away for free, left a bad taste in my mouth . Almost as bad as activision.. not surprising they are losing money. Now Sony using bungie as an example of live service - they are one of the worst examples . I think they made a mistake in buying bungie. Final fantasy 14 / swuare enix would have been a better choice

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Honkai: Star Rail?

Dragon83

Passing, it's not bad but a grind once uou reach a certain part. You come to wall and have to spend lot of time grinding, really tries to encourage spending money on microtransactions. I get its a free game and it needs to generate income etc just don't have time for the amount of grinding required . Aa much as I'm a big anime fan I'll keep my money for when the big Jrpgs hit first quarter 24

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Assassin's Creed Mirage?

Dragon83

It's not bad but it's more like a hybrid of old and new games but took the bad stuff from valhalla like barricaded doors and a much smaller skill tree. I rekon ubisoft will make basim the main character for the next few games like ezio trilogy
