Re: PS5's Lack of Tentpole Exclusives Isn't Hurting Engagement, Says Sony

Fishnpeas

Haven't been on my PS5 since I got FFVII - 2, especially since they ditched PSVR2, so I have ordered the PC adapter and made the transition fully to PC.
I've been with Sony since day 1, and even worked there for a couple of years, they have completely lost the plot. I think the gaming industry has a whole has forgotten how to make good games.

Re: Astro Bot Raises the Bar for Sony's PS Studios Intros on PS5

Fishnpeas

It felt like an announcement that they were putting PSVR2 on the discontinued shelf.

Astro Bot genuinely revolutionised platforming on VR, and having this as a standard screen game makes it feel like just another Mario 3D World clone.

This state of play has honestly made me seriously consider getting rid of the PS5 and PSVR, it no longer has anything worthwhile for me, I may as well stick with PC.

Gutted.

Re: 900 PlayStation Employees Laid Off, London Studio Closed

@TheTraditional I worked at Liverpool Studio as the UK community manager for PlayStation for a couple of years in 2005.

Some of the original Psygnosis team were still there and they let go through all the old artwork from the Amiga days (stuff like shadow of the beast) loved those guys and genuinely miss being in that office.

Re: Recent Steam Concurrent Player Data Suggests Japanese Games Are Thriving

I bought both Persona and Infinite wealth and I'll be honest I'm really disappointed in both.

Persona feels like a soulless update to P3, it just feels really bland, can't put my finger on what it is, but it is definitely not pulling me in like the original still does to this day (P3 FES is still one of my go-tos on my phone).

Infinite wealth is a shell of a Yakuza game, poor characters, dull open world and don't get me started on what they've done to Kiryu. It's like Ubisoft have taken over the franchise.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?

Fishnpeas

I'm 30 hours and it just doesn't feel like a Yakuza game anymore, it's soulless, the characters are third rate and the storyline is poor. They bring Kiryu out of retirement just to do him dirty, it was utterly pointless and just felt like an attempt to kill his legacy. The new companions are dull as hell. It feels like Ubisoft has taken over Yakuza. You can see a mile away that Nagoshi and his team had nothing to do with this one.

Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (PS5) - The Best Yakuza Game Ever Made

Fishnpeas

I've been playing Yakuza games since the first one on PS2, right through PS3 and PSP, PS4 and the Judgement games.

Played through the Man with No Name and it had completely lost it's magic, even down to the combat. Unlocked the demo for this and was bored. Never ever thought I'd get bored of any Yakuza game, I play through them all regularly.

You can see a mile away that Nagoshi and his team weren't involved in these, they lack soul.

I just knew this one would be a 9 or 10 with reviewers, it's gone western.

For the first time in 19 years I'm passing on a Yakuza game.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Bloody awful game, stopped by the time he got the black suit.

Between the endless bugs and the horrific writing I couldn't stomach any more of it. Press X to raise your arms on the roller coaster!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess!

Re: PlayStation Reveals Most Played Games of 2023 by Region, Is Basically a Waste of Time

Fishnpeas

2023 was hands down the worst year for gaming, honestly no idea why some thought it was good, we either had exceptionally bad incremental updates to existing IPs (Spiderman 2, FFXVI, Street Fighter VI, MK1, Alan Wake 2) or we had terrible new IPs (Starfield, Forspoken, Callisto Protocol 2022 I know, but December so realistically it was 2023 for everyone, Atomic Heart, Redfall)

The only ones I came across that were worth my time were Hogwarts, Robocop and Hifi Rush.

Everything has been paint by numbers bland, terribly written and full of bugs.

I bought them all, as well as countless others and this year is on a par with 1982 when I got E.T. on the Atari for Christmas.

Re: Court Rules £5 Billion Lawsuit Against Sony Can Go Ahead, Following Years of 'Excessive' PS Store Prices

Fishnpeas

Sony is going to struggle to argue a case on this to be honest, digital prices have been consisently higher that physical media despite not having the oveheads of manufacturing, artwork and distribution and cuts to the retailers.

The only thing they have to pay for is server space, and that will never compare costwise to physical.

It's always been a con, but it's a con we all live with because we can't be bothered getting up off our butts to change games.

(I have been guilty of this since the start of PS3, I rarely bought any physical titles, but thousands of digital).

Re: PS5's Install Base Closes on 50 Million As Sony Gets Increasingly Aggressive

Fishnpeas

@NattyKing You come across as someone who thinks you should support something even when it isn't working.

Bitter? Yes I'd say so when you watch something grow from a dot on the screen to beautiful and engaging stories and images over the last 40 years get turned in to safe corporatised drivel designed to appeal to the lowest of IQs in the world simply to sell more.

The only way to stop the sequel and remake train is to stop paying to ride it.

You run along now and lap up whatever gets out in front of you, I have more than enough content to last a lifetime, it may not be as pretty it but it is certainly more fun.

Re: PS5's Install Base Closes on 50 Million As Sony Gets Increasingly Aggressive

Fishnpeas

@W1ck3d_p And as for the sequel comment, fairenough you like to play the same thing over and over, I have the same problem with Yakuza, I haven't let one of those pass me by since the first one on PS2. However interspersed with that I need new gaming experiences and Sony have 100% failed on that this gen. They state they have 25 games in development at the moment and almost half are new IPs, these are scheduled for release by 2025. It will be interesting to see how many of that 12 see the light of day in the next 2 years. The fact they made that statement means they realise the issue with this gen and that's positive, however based on the writing abilities of these teams at the moment (I'm looking at ND, Santa Monica and Insomniac) I don't hold out much hope.

Re: PS5's Install Base Closes on 50 Million As Sony Gets Increasingly Aggressive

Fishnpeas

@W1ck3d_p In between all of your prattling there were several people who agreed with how dull and uninspired this generation has been, and real gamers will recognise it.

Ones who just follow X brand blindly will never see or concede that.

S2 is absolutely DLC to he first game, it even has the same bugs the city had in the last one, they remastered the city and made the combat worse nothing more, if anything the character models are far worse this time around.
