I loved DriveClub VR. Sure it was a tad blurry in the distance but, all VR games are like that just cause of the resolution.
I played DriveClub for hours at a crack, longer than I played Forza Horizon 3. If this game is more arcadey then I'm all in. Shame they're just relegating it to a mode rather than the entire game though.
I think it's a crock when they put it on the players. Why don't you let the players decide how they want to play the game rather than decide for them. Because I'll play the entire game in VR, I have no problem with that
Saying that it's stock that's limiting sales rather than consumer choice is a bit of a stretch. Surely it's limiting demand somewhat but even if there was an infinite supply of goggles I doubt the sales are going to be too much more than they are already. Maybe they'd have sold 600000 instead of 500000.
I'm still concerned this isn't enough to be a viable platform. Outselling everyone else is all fine and well but they were never selling at a rate to make it a viable platform in the first place.
I mean the Wii U and Vita struggle to get support and they have 13 or 14 million units in the wild. I can only hope that VR takes off enough the developers see it as an opportunity to make money and want to invest in the platform. One thing's for sure though they're going to have to stop with this exclusive nonsense because even if you combined every VR platform sold its still probably wouldn't be a viable option, but it would certainly be more appealing to than just selling on one of three or 4 different VR platforms.
@Feena
Well the first thing you have to understand is that I've been frustrated with this game from day one with all the issues dealing with single player.
The 6 character pass was $30, and if more characters are on the way I can only imagine the total cost I'm going to have paid for the full lineup, a lineup which has come standard in previous entries, and even rival fighters like KoF XIV have provided day one lineups more robust than SFV after all its' DLC combined.
I'm aware that you can technically unlock everything without paying but they heavily weighted this to the side of paying. I don't play online. Been a fan of Street Fighter since the early nineties and I've always played the offline single player modes, nothing more. I have yet to amount the cash to even buy one character much less all of them.
And as if that wasn't enough, the story mode was so boring that I couldn't even finish it and that was supposed to be the main appeal to me.
I know you may not understand where I'm coming from, but that is why I (and presumably others) say these kinds of things. $30 for 6 extra characters, and even then the lineup isn't half as big as it should have been out of the box... it's frustrating. And while I did pay because I want those characters and I'm never going to spend enough time to unlock them all, it's definitely frustrating to see more paid DLC after the fact.
And it's not that I was expecting them to suddenly just dump free characters on us after those six were done, but it's just the compilation of everything up into this point has been a frustrating experience and then realizing that I'm going to have to pay even more money and continue to invest more money to get the lineup I feel should have been there from the get-go is enough to get me to vent when I read about it.
I really love this game so far but man the combat sucks! I was shocked at how bad it was especially given the game's pedigree.
I'm probably switching to a mage after getting some advice from others concerning this issue. I think playing this game as a mage... it would be an absolute masterpiece (on X1 at least, this is one game I simply must have on Xbox)
Not too fond of the design. Kinda fugly if you ask me.
I'm just anxious to get this thing's HDD swapped out and transferred over from my current PS4. And get my new 4K HDR TV swapped out. Already got the HDMI 2.0 cords swapped. I'll be glad when all of this is done and over with and I can just sit back and relax.
Got pretty decent review compared to the equivalent 55" HDR Samsung, Vizio and Sony 4K models, all of which cost around $1,000. Specifically for the gaming category, which it actually outscored all the top brands in. There are a few drawbacks but, for half the price of every other HDR 4KTV this size, I'm OK with that. Even moreso considering there were no really low scores in any one category, while top brands like Samsung actually scored a 4/10 for motion (for example). With the exception of Sony, pretty much all had one really weak area. So yeah I'm definitely happy with this
Got this for $39.99 with 20% off GCU discount, so $31.99. Not sure about all this full price talk.
But it looks great. Was hoping for for fluid motion but hey, I understand why they do this because it does kind of make you disoriented when you turn in full first person like that without a suit or cockpit view or some kind of frame of reference.
@rjejr Wow congrats!!! Welcome to the PS4 club, and welcome to the 8th gen multi-console gamers club (you now own more than one 8th gen console). You've got a lot to look forward to.
I just bought (literally just bought, maybe 5 minutes ago), a 55" HDR 4KTV for $499 believe it or not. Usually I'm a Vizio kinda guy, had my 42" 1080p Vizio for nearly 8 years now. But with PS4 Pro dropping in a few days, I figured why the heck not. It's been nearly a decade since I bought a TV, and this one was too good a deal to pass up. It's a Hisense, but I checked rtings.com for it and the equivalent 55" HDR 4KTV Samsung, Vizio and Sony models, and it held its own against all the top brands, in fact it even scored higher in the gaming category.
And I already got my 2TB HDD and Ethernet cable to do the transfer with, and I just ordered 4 packs of HDMI 2.0 cables so I have some 4K compatible cables to work with (gonna need 1 from PS4 to VR box, another from VR box to TV, another from cable box to Scorpio, another from Scorpio to TV, and some extras for any unforeseen devices in the future).
I'm all set up and ready. 4K HDR TV arrives Wednesday and PS4 Pro by week's end (hopefully).
One of my busier weeks in quite some time. Got a truckload of Vita games. Trying out each one to get a taste of what they're about. Surprisingly, Resistance on Vita isn't nearly as bad as CoD BO2 Declassified was. Despite hearing it was actually worse.

Ya I'm getting one, mainly for VR improvement. But I figured well, if I can game in 4K, why not take advantage and grab a 4K tv?
Then I looked at the charts and realized that in a lot of cases 4K is not making a difference over 1080p given your screen size and the distance you're sitting away from it. In fact a lot of people can't even tell the difference side-by-side (of course in store demos they will broadcast content tailored to the 4K display which also probably has HDR and other improvements to show as much advantage as possible, all the while using a sub optimal 1080p display, tricking viewers into believing it is the 4K resolution that makes the difference they see, despite science saying otherwise).
That said, I sit close enough that if I got a 55" 4KTV (given my vision) I would get at least 50% improvement. So it's something. But I'm not going to drop that much money on a brand-new TV just for 50% improvement when my current HDTV looks perfect. If I upgrade TVs it's going to be OLED and have HDR as well. Because that's where the real improvement comes from.
Problem is, I can't take advantage of HDR because my PSVR won't allow it to pass through! So what's the point.
I think I'll just hold off on that 4K TV until they sort the pass-through issue and prices come down on the HDR sets. Until then, the supersampling will suffice.
@MadAussieBloke Can you point me to where that's stated. I've exhausted the search bar looking for any sort of mention about it being fixed and all I can find is articles saying it's not supported, forums dedicated to work around, etc.
My biggest issue is how the melee combat feels. I can't even tell when I making contact with a blow or if I'm even doing any damage if I do. There's no rumble when it contacts to let you know you connected, there's no animations are audio cues or anything. It's like swinging through thin air.
I may go switch to a mage just because the combat is very underwhelming
Well with PSVR not allowing HDR pass through, I'm just gonna get a non-HDR 4KTV. Maybe a 120hz since I won't be spending all that extra cash on HDR.
Heard good stuff about HDR, but given the price, the double formats in the fact I would have to split my signal to bypass PSVR... i'm just not gonna deal with it. I'm sure games will look plenty good enough just being in 4K
Finally, true player's choice. If you value frame rate then toggle the locked 60fps mode on. If you'd rather play a Powepoint slide of the most beautiful stills you've ever laid eyes on, toggle the slideshow mode. If you want a balanced experience where you can actually discern motion but where the graphics are still reasonably high, toggle the balanced mode.
While upgrading consoles isn't my priority like buying new platforms such as PSVR and Switch, I have decided to also upgrade to PS4 Pro (and Scorpio- that was always a given) despite not having a 4KTV.
I just want the improvements to VR. Anything beyond that is a cherry on top.
I'm perfectly satisfied with the graphics of the base model PS4. Heck I was satisfied with the Wii U. Normally I would never drop another $400 just for better graphics, but in the case of VR it's a situation where visual fidelity (for once) actually matters.
@stevejcrow
There's a lot of consoles I love to death, and even the ones that aren't as good overall have a large enough handful of timeless classics that it's hard not to fall head over heels for those also.
Not long ago I said 3DS was my all time favorite platform. But PS4 will probably top it by the time it's run its full course. But PS4 is a lot more appealing to me than many others because I missed so many 7th gen classics. So all these remasters that it's being flooded with are like brand-new games for me. So I'm sure you can imagine how impressive that makes the library for someone like me. For others maybe not so much , since half the games in the library are games they played last generation. But also the PSVR has had a huge impact on my adoration of PS4.
But see, X1 is rapidly catching up to PS4 in terms of a potential all time favorite, mostly because of the 360 BC that's given me access to games like Portal 2 and Lost Odyssey (among many others). The only thing is PS4 has way more exclusives, but the BC is offsetting that. If they come out with good VR next year it very well might become my favorite console of all time. Either way I think PS4 or X1 will take that spot above 3DS when all is said and done.
But even consoles like Wii U and Vita I've found to have exceptional libraries. Wii U has a small number of timeless classics (I think five of my favorite games of all time are on Wii U) be it Pikmin 3, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Mario Maker or DKC Tropical Freeze. Meanwhile Vita doesn't really have any timeless classics of its own at all (lots of good and even really good games, and a handful of ports of timeless classics, but none of its own I would consider timeless), but it's just got so many great games that feel so right on a handheld. There's nothing like Dragon Quest Builders on Vita, or World of Final Fantasy, or Persona 4, or Final Fantasy X. Each and every Vita game I gets feels like a treasure.
And the way it's looking, if Switch plays it's cards right, it may surpass all of them once it has a full library of games. If Nintendo combines their resources to pump the majority of their exclusives onto one system, that would double the 1st party spread, and if they get some good 3rd party exclusive games along side them, an HD Monster Hunter and some great Japanese games and multiplats... that system is going to shine. Even at its worst it's still going to be an exceptional system and the fact you can play console games portably... that system is going to have a very special place in my heart no matter how the cards end up falling.
I just love all systems. Some more than others but all of them are just so valuable. I wouldn't want to give up any of them.
@NintendoFan4Lyf The thing is, when I used to have a more sheltered gaming experience I used to think just like them, and so I know where they're coming from and it's a place of ignorance.
@rjejr I thought I could talk sense but people don't wanna hear it.
@ztpayne7 The bottom line for me is the no matter how many it has it seems like Xbox going to have twice as many with five times as much space and all the best ones from PC that use external assets.
It's just a shame. Because at the end of the day without external assets these mods are going to be extremely limited in what they can do.
@ztpayne7 Well that's good at least. Seems like the list is growing. I see now 4 days ago PS4 had 47 vs 124 on Xbox One. At least PS4 gamers are getting what they can out of it, even if all the big ones from PC are MIA due to no external assets.
Got in a 2 day long debate with these igits on Nintendo Life trying to tell me the game play in this game sucked ( even though you know they've never actually played the game).
Then we get into a long ranting debate about story in there telling me how story adds nothing.
Don't mind me I'm just venting from people who have a sheltered gaming experience and judge every kind of game they've never actually played.
@dryrain
Ya, I had to sell all my multiplats on PS4 and rebuy for X1 because with a 2TB cap, I've barely got the space for exclusives and VR titles much less multiplatorm games too. So I bought Skyrim on X1 being a multiplat and all, and I'm really glad I did just because of the mod situation.
When I was browsing the mods all I kept seeing over and over was "uses external assets, will not be available for PS4", not to mention the 1gb limit and 10 mod limit on top of that. Although by the way it sounds there may not even be 10 mods available yet on PS4. I read an article the other day saying there was something like only 11 mods total... I don't know how long ago it was posted but that doesn't bode well.
Makes you wonder why they even bothered in the first place...
We live in an age where even Farming Simulator tops the charts. Meanwhile all these other hidden gems scavenge to muster up enough sales to break even.
But given its poor performance and the onslaught of like 30+ games I'll have bought these last 3 months of the year, I'm probably gonna wait out a price drop. $40 with GCU is $31.99. That's my price and when it hits it, I'm all in.
@rjejr
Well ya. Had NMS been $19.99 or heck even just $39.99 it wouldn't have received such backlash, because expectations would have fallen in line with a $20 or $40 game.
When you sell a game for $60, people expect $60 value. And nowadays you're getting some pretty spectacular games for $60.
And it's not even a budget thing because I've seen a lot of lower-budget games sell for $60 no problem. But randomly generated games almost NEVER warrant a $60 price tag. For $60 every ledge, pit, rock and plant better be designed with intelligent thought put into its placement. If you're going to fall back on an algorithm to generate everything for you then the price needs to reflect that. And had this game not been randomly generated it would have been a whole lot better because planets wouldn't have been so monotonous. Along with that comes the fact that it would require a whole lot more manpower and development hours to accomplish, but, that's exactly what is required to be worth $60. Just randomly generated worlds isn't worth AAA price.
The only way a randomly-generated game could perhaps pass for $60 is if it had everything else people wanted and a whole slew of awesome features to offset the randomly generated short cutting. And I think people realized that. So when he was being asked if the game would have all these features and he's saying yes yes yes yes yes yes yes, people took him at his word because they probably thought "well it has to have all these other features because how else are they going to get away with charging $60 for a randomly-generated game".
He was too afraid to tell people no. This game doesn't do everything you can imagine. Every time someone would ask him if such and such would be a future in the game, he'd say "yup"... "yup"... " you can do that too"... never actually taking a truthful stand in telling people what they don't want to hear.
But again, the price really played into that. Had it been priced at $20 - $40 people would have had more realistic expectations, or at the very least an inclination to not believe everything that was coming out of his mouth. Certainly at $29.99 people would have been a little more suspicious
Art styles like this are charming and adorable. Most adults beyond the testosterone-filled post-teenage years appreciate art styles like this; as you get older you gravitate away from wanting everything to be "manly".
I'm 32 and I love games with charmi art styles more than I like gritty. Maybe because it's innocence stirs up childhood nostalgia, or maybe because it's just aesthetically appealing and adorable and you get to a point in your life where you don't want everything to be so... teenage.
This game reminds me a lot of Pikmin 3, which is one of the greatest video games I've ever played in my life. Now.. this game doesn't come close to Pikmin, but it has a lot of similarities including the charming art style and how the little Pikmin, when they get eaten, you see their little ghosts float up with a fading cry.
There's a difference between adorable art styles aimed at children and adorable art styles aimed at everyone (or even just adults). This game reminds me of a lot of Nintendo games that having the charming art style aimed at anyone (except teenagers who of course want nothing to do with anything that could make them feel less manly), but a challenging difficulty that would make actual kids cry.
I definitely plan to get it on PS4 too. I'm just going to wait for a price drop since there's no reason to pay $60 for both platforms when I only need one of them right now. I have Type 0 and X/X-2 on PS4, with FF7 and FFXII and FFXV locked in on PS4. So of course I'm gonna need to snag WoFF to keep the collection all in one place, on one console with the best possible visuals. Probably even grab FFIV also if I ever find someone to play with.
1 There's no excuse for the extreme behavior seen by gamers. We all know how ugly they can get, and there's never any excuse for that kind of behavior.
2 Murray does need to shoulder blame. He lied, plain and simple. You can say people should've done research and you can say it's people's fault they didn't get what was expected, but at the end of the day nothing justifies his deceit. There are people who scam on eBay by putting a pound note upside down and claiming it as rare. Just because people don't do their due diligence and fall for the scam doesn't mean it's all their fault. If a person lies, regardless of whether someone was dumb enough to fall for it, they are to blame for acting deceitfully. And he lied. All the sugar coating in the world can't hide the fact.. And it wasn't just one thing to where you could argue it wasn't unintentional- it was multiple lies concerning multiple things.
3 A simple apology acknowledging his mistake, along with a commitment to update the game to the best of their ability to at least add some of these features promised, would go a long ways in people moving on. The game was never going to be so much more amazing then it turned out. But its the principle of the matter. And I think people wouldn't be so hostile if they saw a clear effort on the developers part to make things right. If they did this, then anyone harboring discontent would definitely need to let it go.
4 This looks like he was in despair, tweeted out and even responded by email, then backtracked and came up with a lame excuse. And then sent out long wordy emails to gaming sites to prop up the hack story and make it seem real. @rjejr Your theory is dead on. I'm not buying this for a second. Like you said, if he was still hacked then how was the email removed? And why did the first email confirm it was him in a short email, but then after the whole "we got hacked" excuse, long wordy emails were conveniently sent out to other publications making it a little too obvious.
The guy was sulking in his corner, tweeted it was a mistake, confirmed tweet via email, then whether by the team convincing him or buy a sudden stroke of clarity he decides this could be bad press, and then creates a scapegoat by quickly sending out lengthy, overtly obvious emails pretending to be hacked to prop up the story, and then tweets "are you guys still hacked" to prop it up further.
You don't need to be all that bright- even Inspector Gadget could figure out what's going on here.
@Wazeddie22 "Rise Of the Tomb Raider which I'm loving far more than I ever did Uncharted 4... sorry, but it's true"
Nothing to be sorry about. If it's a better game it's a better game. And that's exactly what I've been saying from day one.
As for World of Final Fantasy, if you're playing the physical Vita version, you actually have to search the store for the English dialogue and download it separately. It's not included with the update patch in nothing in the game case mentions you needing to go to the store and search for it separately. Just thought I'd mention that and potentially save you some trouble because, I just had to deal with that whole situation myself.
I can't stand big earmuff headphones. I like the super lightweight Bose that are engineered to just rest in the bowl of your ear without needing to shove in your ear canal or muffle your ears entirely.
I mean, as of now my 3DS is my Kingdom Hearts machine with Chain of Memories GBA as virtual console, 358/2 Days and Re:Coded DS and Dream Drop Distance 3DS. And that's great just been on a little handheld to play anywhere.
But being able to play that game in high definition remastered now? Oh this is such great news! I knew they'd bring these games, I knew they would.

I think I'll just hold off on that 4K TV until they sort the pass-through issue and prices come down on the HDR sets. Until then, the supersampling will suffice.
Re: Video: Days Gone on PS4 Pro May Be the Best Looking Game Ever
@MadAussieBloke
Ya Idk, all reports say it doesn't allow HDR pass through.
I mean, the video will supposedly pass through (maybe?), but it just won't have HDR.
Re: Video: Days Gone on PS4 Pro May Be the Best Looking Game Ever
@MadAussieBloke
Can you point me to where that's stated. I've exhausted the search bar looking for any sort of mention about it being fixed and all I can find is articles saying it's not supported, forums dedicated to work around, etc.
Re: Soapbox: Skyrim Still Has Plenty to Offer Five Years On
My biggest issue is how the melee combat feels. I can't even tell when I making contact with a blow or if I'm even doing any damage if I do. There's no rumble when it contacts to let you know you connected, there's no animations are audio cues or anything. It's like swinging through thin air.
I may go switch to a mage just because the combat is very underwhelming
Re: Video: Days Gone on PS4 Pro May Be the Best Looking Game Ever
Well with PSVR not allowing HDR pass through, I'm just gonna get a non-HDR 4KTV. Maybe a 120hz since I won't be spending all that extra cash on HDR.
Heard good stuff about HDR, but given the price, the double formats in the fact I would have to split my signal to bypass PSVR... i'm just not gonna deal with it. I'm sure games will look plenty good enough just being in 4K
Re: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's Free PlayStation VR Mode Is Worth the Bandwidth
Oh nice!
This was the one VR experience I had planned on just not playing too (I'm done with CoD full price).
Perfect. Going to DL now
Re: Rise of the Tomb Raider Gets Multiple Modes on PS4 Pro
Now this I can get on board with.
I like it.

Robinson The Journey!
See how VR games are suddenly more enticing than everything else on offer?
I'm willing to bet if everyone voting in the pole owned a PS VR that would be the only game on the list voted for
Re: Feature: How PS4 Pro Will Bring Bullshot Quality Visuals to Your Home
While upgrading consoles isn't my priority like buying new platforms such as PSVR and Switch, I have decided to also upgrade to PS4 Pro (and Scorpio- that was always a given) despite not having a 4KTV.
I just want the improvements to VR. Anything beyond that is a cherry on top.
I'm perfectly satisfied with the graphics of the base model PS4. Heck I was satisfied with the Wii U. Normally I would never drop another $400 just for better graphics, but in the case of VR it's a situation where visual fidelity (for once) actually matters.
Re: PS4 Rapidly Approaches 50 Million Unit Milestone
@stevejcrow
Re: The Last of Us Remastered Readied for PS4 Pro Release
@Feena
I didn't think it was "game of the generation" like some, but it was definitely the best of its genre I've ever played.
Re: The Last of Us Remastered Readied for PS4 Pro Release
@NintendoFan4Lyf
The thing is, when I used to have a more sheltered gaming experience I used to think just like them, and so I know where they're coming from and it's a place of ignorance.
@rjejr
I thought I could talk sense but people don't wanna hear it.
Re: Skyrim Scores Second-Best UK Debut in Series History on PS4
@ztpayne7
The bottom line for me is the no matter how many it has it seems like Xbox going to have twice as many with five times as much space and all the best ones from PC that use external assets.
It's just a shame. Because at the end of the day without external assets these mods are going to be extremely limited in what they can do.
Re: Skyrim Scores Second-Best UK Debut in Series History on PS4
@ztpayne7
Well that's good at least. Seems like the list is growing. I see now 4 days ago PS4 had 47 vs 124 on Xbox One. At least PS4 gamers are getting what they can out of it, even if all the big ones from PC are MIA due to no external assets.
Re: The Last of Us Remastered Readied for PS4 Pro Release
Got in a 2 day long debate with these igits on Nintendo Life trying to tell me the game play in this game sucked ( even though you know they've never actually played the game).
Then we get into a long ranting debate about story in there telling me how story adds nothing.
Don't mind me I'm just venting from people who have a sheltered gaming experience and judge every kind of game they've never actually played.
Re: Skyrim Scores Second-Best UK Debut in Series History on PS4
@dryrain
Re: First Two Zero Escape Titles Are Playing a Game on PS4, Vita Next Year
I may pick it up for Vita.
I have 999 on DS but it'd be cool to complete the trilogy on Vita
Re: Has the Next Tomb Raider Title Been Excavated Already?

I was about to post the pterodactyl siting in Boise for you, but now I think I'll just refrain from doing so.
Re: Review: Wayward Sky (PS4)
It's crazy how games that would be mediocre otherwise become alluring in VR.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Titanfall 2 Fails to Make an Impact on PS4
Good grief.
We live in an age where even Farming Simulator tops the charts. Meanwhile all these other hidden gems scavenge to muster up enough sales to break even.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Titanfall 2 Fails to Make an Impact on PS4
@Boerewors
Alright you sold me.
But given its poor performance and the onslaught of like 30+ games I'll have bought these last 3 months of the year, I'm probably gonna wait out a price drop. $40 with GCU is $31.99. That's my price and when it hits it, I'm all in.
Re: Ni no Kuni II Finally Gets a Mention as Developer Reveals Kingdom Building
I feel like this one could be a ways off yet.
Trying to temper my expectations in case it's one of those late 2018 early 2019 titles.
Re: Review: Tethered (PS4)
@Furtin
Wouldn't count on it. Long gone are the days of me just wanting to watch blow em up action movies and play gritty games.
I grew out of that around the time I was in my mid 20's
Re: Hello Games Tweets: 'No Man's Sky Was a Mistake'
@rjejr
Re: Review: Tethered (PS4)
@Furtin
Nonsense.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 141
@3Above
Re: Hello Games Tweets: 'No Man's Sky Was a Mistake'

@Wazeddie22
"Rise Of the Tomb Raider which I'm loving far more than I ever did Uncharted 4... sorry, but it's true"

I'll stick with my Bose earbuds.
I can't stand big earmuff headphones. I like the super lightweight Bose that are engineered to just rest in the bowl of your ear without needing to shove in your ear canal or muffle your ears entirely.

I won't get this but, the shooting range did look kinda fun

Nice guide. High elf or Breton for me. Almost always play a mage in games like these.
But... maybe it'd be fun to just go close and personal with a sword and shield... hmm...

Re: Battlezone Reboots with Bad Ass PS4 Pro Support
I love this game but it's so hard! Even on easy mode.
It's looking more and more like a PS4 Pro is in my future. Gosh dang I need to find the right 2TB SATA 3 HDD first though so I can just transfer over.
Re: Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 Brings More Goofy Naming Conventions to PS4
Yes! I loved Chain of Memories on GBA!
