I commend Sony for at least trying to diversify bringing another 3D platformer. Just a shame this is the best they've got.
Nonetheless, I'll try to reserve judgement. You never know, they could improve on the first and surprise everyone with a really solid game here. It's possible, amyways
I would have rather had a new one, but at least this is a nice collection. Heck, I can't even so much as get a remaster of F-Zero GX from Nintendo, so Wipeout will have to do.
@BLP_Software Maybe stop worrying so much about predicting the future, and just enjoy playing video games on whatever platforms are available at the time. And if something fails, well that's too bad, but it doesn't mean you can't keep playing games and enjoying them.
First day I watched Kingsglaive, and completed all the tutorials to get well prepared. Then I saved at the auto repair with the mechanic that looks like a stripper.

Let's see, first got the deluxe edition, then got the day one ( I always do that for Final Fantasy games so I can have the normal game cases all side-by-side in addition to the LE boxes and steel books).
But then I notice there's a cut mark across the spine of the game case. So I order a new one from BestBuy, and figured I would just sell the other copy or trade it in since it's already opened.
But my new copy arrives, and IT HAS THE SAME CUT MARK ACROSS THE SPINE! Wtf!
Now I've gotta get another copy.
This was their plan all along. Sell damaged copies so the collectors looking for a copy that doesn't actually have the artwork all cut up have to buy it four times

@andreoni79 I do really love Darksiders series. Don't get me wrong, I love Bayonetta also, but they're just different types of games.
I think Darksiders 2 is better than the first, but both are really great games. Been waiting what seems like forever to see a Darksiders 3 confirmed. Hopefully NordicTHQ can pull it off.
@hieveryone Best part is, both Darksiders and Darksiders 2 are $19.99 ea brand new ($15.99 ea with a BestBuy GCU membership).
You can grab both for half the cost of a normal $60 release. It's a fantastic deal.
I think Darksiders 2 is better, but the first is still good. The second reminds me of Zelda a lot more though. The climbing vines and exploration and treasure chests in dungeons with puzzles, riding a horse to get around fast (similar to Epona). It also has stats for all your armor pieces and weapons which I love, and you're continuously swapping out for better gear with higher stats as you progress (sometimes 2 pieces might be equally as good, just in different areas so it also gives you some freedom to choose how you want to prioritize your playstyle).
@hieveryone If you took the world and combat of Bayonetta 2, and merged it with the puzzles, dungeons and exploration of Legend of Zelda, you'd get Darksiders.
And yes, it's amazing. One of the true greats of the 7th gen.

I bought Titanfall 2, but I got it for $26. And I bought CoD Infinite Warfare, but I got it for $20. And I won't buy Battlefield 1 until I can find a $25 price tag too.
I'm done paying $60 for these kinds of games. Going forward the only games I'm going to buy day one, are the timeless classics. Persona 5, Zelda Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn. Those kinds of games. Maybe a few launch games for Switch (just like I bought launch games for PSVR). But all the rest can wait till they're half-price.
I see Nintendo fans upset when even 3DS or Switch gets a Wii U game ported!
For real, steam-piping rage because Mario Maker, Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X is coming to Switch (supposedly). It's like Sony fans getting outraged over Valkyria Chronicles being ported to PS4 lol
I could at least understand the mentality of being upset over rival consoles getting a game, childish as it may be. But when it's another Nintendo console? Lol you can't make this stuff up

All that said, I also think it was a very unprofessional comment. I'm inclined to actually agree with the sentiment, but I'm just a nobody in the comment section. I'm not setting the tone for the entire site.
I could only imagine if Nintendolife wrote an article talking about Vita being a catastrophe and fuming Sony fanboys. I seriously doubt the people defending this would be on NintendoLife defending that.
Ok I'm finally excited. After years and years of intentionally canning my hype knowing I'd be in my thirties by the time it released.
@Kellanved
lol I'm used to it from Nintendo Treehouse. Seems like every single major game released for the Wii U, like Xenoblade Chronicles X, got cheesy in-house dialog to save money. Seems like Square Enix is taking a page out of Nintendo's advertising playbook
My guess is they figure theses kinds of videos are targeted at core fans so they don't need to give it "mass appeal", they just need to dial-in to the technical side of the game and explain exactly why it'll be fun. But who knows, it's just a theory.
Finally, a sports game without an annualized season attached to the name!
I was just telling people if they would actually release a sports game that focused on classic years, like a "Madden The Nineties" were you could relive 10 seasons in the 90's with Aikman and Smith, or a "The Show Vintage" let you play back with Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb all the way up to Hank Aaron and Nolan Ryan...
I would actually buy those games because they would stand the test of time. But right now when a sports game releases it feels dated the very next year, because it'll be 2017 and the sports game was for 2016.
They really need to do something different and this is a nice start
It's the same stuff year in year out. Even I skipped out on all these games until I could get them for $25 or less, and I literally preorder everything.
This is why people buy multiple consoles. You just get sick of buying and playing the same old same old. And though there are a few games that are different enough to break that mold, they're usually not that good. The Last Guardian has lost almost all its hype due to a number of concerns brought forward by those who demo'd it.
Horizon Zero Dawn and Gravity Rush 2 is what PS4 needs. MS needs to hurry up and get Scalebound and Halo Wars 2 out (even though Gears 4 was amazing), and Nintendo needs to get that new Zelda and 3D Mario out with the Switch.
These are the games that are going to excite people again. Gears 4 was great, and Pokémon Sun/Moon was great (it'll be far better on Switch though in HD, finally a Pokémon for a home console!), and PSVR was cool for the post-launch week or so, but by and large we're just seeing the same stuff we see every year. It's a wonder people haven't burned out sooner
No way I'll get to them all, but here's the lineup. I'll try to get to as many as possible and spread the love around... I've got a lot of games to play this weekend
3DS Pokémon Sun/Moon
Wii U Paper Mario Color Splash
Xbox One Assassins Creed Ezio Collection (AC II) Call of Duty Infinite Warfare Dishnonored 2
Plan to pick this up when it hits $30, which is just $23.99 with GCU discount.
I just grabbed Titanfall 2 for that price, and I'm really liking the idea of getting two games for the price I normally pay for one. All this day one pre-order stuff has to stop.
Didn't they say all games will take advantage of the PS4 Pro as of next year? I mean, the system cost $400. Don't think too many people would have shelled out that kind of money to upgrade if it was just a handful of games here and there taking advantage of it.
Ubisoft's games just have no heart and soul anymore (Rayman and a few rare exceptions aside). It's like all their games just follow the standard model. Nothing exceptional about them to remember them by. Never a story that stands out as a classic, never gameplay that goes beyond the status quo of modern gaming.
I'm just bored with their games. Stuff like Trackmania Turbo... yes. Awesome. Especially with that upcoming VR patch. But even that is nothing more than just a lighthearted fun game. Doesn't stand out and it won't be remembered in 10 years as one of the greats.
They really need to start going above and beyond what they're doing now because they've got a lot of talented developers, but they just can't seem to make a game that I would consider a timeless classic. And that's the only kind of games I'm really interested anymore. I don't have enough time for the mundane of modern gaming.
@KAPADO
That's a fair point. Even if it had no wifi it would still be worth it if you didn't care about direct Internet access.
Although, this is one of the few tvs that support Netflix app with HDR (maybe? I know Sony was one of the few listed). And since PS4 Netflix app doesn't support HDR, would be a shame to end up missing out on that feature due to simple wifi issues.
Once PS4 Netflix app gets patched that will help, although for VR owners who can't pass through HDR signals without unplugging from the VR box, having direct app on TV is a huge plus.
edit
Actually, after looking at the rtings.com review, this TV is no better than the one I just bought for $499. I thought it was higher end but I guess not. It's got a few advantages over the one I bought and the one I bought has a few advantages over it, mainly being better blacks and far better contrast ratio on the one I got, but better viewing angle on this one. Most importantly, Sony TV actually scored lower overall for gaming. Important to note neither have "true HDR" contrast ratio or wide color gamut, although the Hisense does have 4150:1 contrast ratio vs Sonys 990:1 Both have 10 bit panels.
Provided people don't need a wide viewing angle, the Hisense seems just as good, and $100 less. Also some recommendations for other models of the same entry level price tier at the bottom of the review pages.
Read the reviews though. This TV has issues with Wifi cutting out. One review stating as much, I brush it off as coincidence or an outlier. But when multiple reviews are all reporting the same exact problem I try to stay away from such a product.
If you did get a good one though, that had no issues, you'd be scoring a tremendous deal.
@rjejr Even though I'm 32 my dad is 74, and he loves his Majhong and Solitaire. Always playing that stuff on the computer. Pretty sure he likes the intellectual challenge like a puzzle.
My grandparents were born in like 1919, pretty sure they never even knew what a video game was.
@rjejr No one likes overly challenging games, but I enjoy testing my skill limits. If I don't feel a sense of accomplishment I tend to lose interest. Can achieve that multiple ways, be it exploration (has to be intriguing though) or challenge or collecting, etc.
But some games just require you to tune your skills and adjust first, then once you've acclimated the challenge is just right. If you give up before acclimating you'll miss a lot of great games.
Bayonetta 2 was just right on normal mode. Way too easy on easy mode. But the original Bayonetta had some seriously challenging spots on normal. I remember getting owned by that pair of enemies, forget their names but they always fight as a pair and oh my goodness, I remember fighting them on this stair case out in space and I must have tried for 2 hours straight before winning. Some of of those Muspelheims or whatever they're called can be brutal too. Staying in the air for 60 secones, stuff like that
@rjejr It's not a bad game by any means... it's just that it's nothing special when compared to Nintendo platformers. The mechanics are ok, and it is super creative, but it's just not that fun. That's the problem with Tearaway and Little Big Planet- they're just... not that fun.
I'd still recommend it if you can get it on sale, and there's fun to be had, but there's just not any interesting conflict/action. It's more just running around a paper world with evil "scraps", although I did like the weighty spring jumps off the bounce pads. But ya, compared to a Ninty platformer where there's satisfying enemies and environmental pitfalls, tricky precise jumps, etc... it can't hold its own.
Just thought I'd give you my thoughts since you know I've played both and am a very strict judge when it comes to platformers.
@Drawfull I'm no expert, but if they can patch HDR support into the OG PS4 model, I see no reason they can't do the same for VR box. And on PS support forums word is Sony is looking into doing exactly that
Got everything set up, transferred, 4K TV set up... everything is a go. They still need to patch HDR compatibility and pass through for VR box, but aside from that it's great.
@rjejr
Tearaway is decent. But being a Nintendo gamer also you've kind of been spoiled. Usually PS gamers who haven't tasted the platformers offered by Wii U think it's great, but to those who play Nintendo games it's nothing special. Compared to games like DKC Tropical Freeze, Mario 3D World or Yoshi's Wooly World... it can't hold its own. But that's why we play Nintendo too, isn't it. Because no one else makes those kinds of games as good as they do.
But it's an easy game. I'm sure you'll appreciate that at least. The best non-Nintendo "Nintendo game" I've ever played is Ori & the Blind Forest on X1. That one gives Ninty a run for its money. Shame you'll never play that one.
In fact, given Rare Replay in addition to Ori, and ReCore and some of the 360 BC titles like Sakaguchi's Blue Dragon... I'd almost say Microsoft is doing a decent job of appealing to that market as well.
Sony doesn't have anything to worry about, but with that said things are definitely going to start balancing out over the next few years. MS has been doing everything right since Spencer rose to power, the BC is absolutely huge. A real reason to choose Xbox instead of PS (of course there's reasons to choose PS over Xbox too, but it doesn't diminish the appeal X1 has brought to the table lately).
In the end though, console sales are down all around. I mean, Sony is dominating the console market (Nintendo only mustered 13 mil Wii U sold and Xbox One is just 20 mil iirc). That means, aside from 33 million units sold, all the rest belong to Sony. So why is it they're only at 50 mil? There were 260 million consoles sold last generation, not to mention another 200 million handhelds. And granted, last gen was a huge boom but even in 6th gen Sony managed 150 mil with a very comparable 45 mil units sold by competitors (which may be the total this gen for Ninty+MS after everything is said and done).
Sales are down. And nobody is talking about it. With the amount of units sold from Nintendo and MS, PS4 should be hitting 150 million this generation. And they're a long ways off from that. A long ways. Sales are always strongest in the first several years so I wouldn't expect them to do another 50 million over the course of the next three years. Maybe 30. Which would put them at roughly half the units sold they should have. Even if they managed to break three digits before the end of the generation that's still a huge gap between previous generations and now.
I really like this game. But, but but but but but (that's a lot of buts, I know)
They force you to endure this garbage "comfort mode" that shrinks field of view in all sorts of scenarios, got so bad it felt like I was viewing the world through the end of a bottle neck.
Hey! Come experience virtual reality! ... through the lens of a telescope.
One teaspoon full at a time, because obviously the user is too stupid to choose what they prefer... because a few noobies get seasick let's cripple the immersion for everybody! Absolutely no choice in the matter!
This game just pisses me off. You can't even free look until you beat the story mode, which is insufferable when having to endure it via tunnel vision and lack of free look in the first place.
PSVR

New Entertainment Stand to house new larger TV
Complete Fall and Spring Game Lineup on multiple consoles
= Scary Price Real Quick
So, if anyone here thinks $1000 or more on a new TV right now is a little much and are just wondering what's out there for cheap, here's a great option
I got mine yesterday and honestly, it won't compete with higher end $1500+ models from the top brands, but pound for pound against the $1000 entry level Vizios, LGs, Samsungs and Sony's, it holds its own and may even outperform them in many areas.
For $499 you won't find a better deal, and includes 4 year warranty.
"competitors floundering for unfounded promises of the future"
Scorpio is real. And it's coming. And I don't think anything about that is unfounded. I'd suggest taking it seriously because Microsoft sure will be. They fully intend to bring the heat and you can bet that console, whatever it ends up looking like, is going to give Pro a run for it's money and then some.
If it wasn't for VR, I would have never given the Pro a second glance. $400 just for a minor graphics upgrade (if you sat a PS4 side-by-side with a Pro and played the same game on the same TV and asked somebody to tell the difference, I'm not too sure that person would be able to do so), just seems like a waste of money to me when I could use that to buy a separate console with access to new games.
But because VR will be made better, suddenly the Pro started looking appealing to me. Then I decided I absolutely must have it for the best VR experience, so I locked one down on preorder. Then I decided if I'm going to buy this anyways I may as well go ahead and get a 4K TV with it, and fully take advantage of everything that it offers.
And here I sit, a person who was never really interested in the Pro to begin with, now with a PS4 Pro and new 55" HDR 4KTV in transit to be delivered tomorrow. I don't really know what to make of that- it cost me an arm and a leg and all this right after $500 for PSVR and right before another $500 for Switch (willl need launch games).
I guess there's never really a good time to blow through $1000 on an upgrade lol. But at least it's a good upgrade.

Re: Sony Confirms $249.99 PS4 Bundle for Black Friday
That's a deal for sure.
$99 New 3DS, $250 PS4 and $250 Xbox One.
Even the jobless could afford those prices. And the employed... well you may as well just grab all 3
Re: Review: Watch Dogs 2 (PS4)
Plan to pick this up when it hits $30, which is just $23.99 with GCU discount.
I just grabbed Titanfall 2 for that price, and I'm really liking the idea of getting two games for the price I normally pay for one. All this day one pre-order stuff has to stop.
Re: Digimon World: Next Order Digivolves with a Western Release Date
Eh, I was really only interested in this for Vita, which isn't even getting an English Asian version to import.
We'll see.
Re: Persona 5 Gets Delayed Until April on PS4, PS3
And let the Q1 2017 delays begin!!!
Told ya. We'll be seeing at least one game delayed per month between now and March
Re: NieR: Automata Will Take Advantage of the PS4 Pro with Improved 4K Visuals
@SnowstormX
"so many games coming"
Ah, don't you worry about that. Half of those games will be delayed if this year was anything to judge by, or last year, or the year before.
Re: NieR: Automata Will Take Advantage of the PS4 Pro with Improved 4K Visuals
Didn't they say all games will take advantage of the PS4 Pro as of next year? I mean, the system cost $400. Don't think too many people would have shelled out that kind of money to upgrade if it was just a handful of games here and there taking advantage of it.
Re: Round Up: Watch Dogs 2 PS4 Reviews Bark Up the Right Tree
Re: Video: The Martian VR Experience Lets You Become Matt Damon
Eh, I'll probably buy it anyways. Looks cool. Always dreamed of being the first man on Mars as a kid, so this is kind of a childhood fantasy.
Re: Deals: Score a PS4 Pro and Sony 4K TV for $1,000
@KAPADO
This Sony TV (discounted to $600 if purchased with PS4 Pro)

Hisense I bought (discounted to $500)
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/h8c
Provided people don't need a wide viewing angle, the Hisense seems just as good, and $100 less. Also some recommendations for other models of the same entry level price tier at the bottom of the review pages.
Re: Deals: Score a PS4 Pro and Sony 4K TV for $1,000
Read the reviews though.
Re: Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (PS4)
Soon as it's sold separately, I'll buy it day one.

Re: Feature: PS4 Has Plenty for Families This Christmas
@rjejr
Even though I'm 32 my dad is 74, and he loves his Majhong and Solitaire. Always playing that stuff on the computer. Pretty sure he likes the intellectual challenge like a puzzle.
My grandparents were born in like 1919, pretty sure they never even knew what a video game was.
Re: Feature: PS4 Has Plenty for Families This Christmas
@rjejr
No one likes overly challenging games, but I enjoy testing my skill limits.
Staying in the air for 60 secones, stuff like that
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 143
No games.
Just enjoying having my new entertainment stand, new 4KTV and PS4 Pro all hooked up. Finally.
Gonna sit back and watch more of The Blacklist on Netflix via the TV app. Can't get over how gorgeous it looks in 4K.
Re: Feature: PS4 Has Plenty for Families This Christmas
@naruball
I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
@rjejr
It's not a bad game by any means... it's just that it's nothing special when compared to Nintendo platformers.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?
@Drawfull
I'm no expert, but if they can patch HDR support into the OG PS4 model, I see no reason they can't do the same for VR box. And on PS support forums word is Sony is looking into doing exactly that
Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS4 Pro?
I like it.
Got everything set up, transferred, 4K TV set up... everything is a go. They still need to patch HDR compatibility and pass through for VR box, but aside from that it's great.
Re: Feature: PS4 Has Plenty for Families This Christmas
@rjejr
Re: PS4 Slumps to Yet Another NPD Defeat in October
Re: Video: Spreading Our Wings with Beautiful PlayStation VR Title Eagle Flight
Ok, here's the thing.

So, if anyone here thinks $1000 or more on a new TV right now is a little much and are just wondering what's out there for cheap, here's a great option
pic hosting
I got mine yesterday and honestly, it won't compete with higher end $1500+ models from the top brands, but pound for pound against the $1000 entry level Vizios, LGs, Samsungs and Sony's, it holds its own and may even outperform them in many areas.
For $499 you won't find a better deal, and includes 4 year warranty.
Here's the rtings.com review. Compares favorably to the entry level top brand HDR 4KTV's which, mind you, cost twice as much.

Re: Hardware Review: PS4 Pro - 4King Amazing?
