Would be nice to see games that actually take advantage of the PS5 Pro but I doubt we will. Remasters and remakes will rule the day if I’m being honest.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Sony’s inability to get first party titles out this gen instead of relying on remasters for the bulk of their output.
Sony needs to dive deep into its extensive PS3/2 library and remaster some of those classics. The games they’ve chosen to remaster lately are far too recent.
@darkswabber I wonder if this is from his boss, Satya, who has admitted he dislikes the exclusive business model. And now, Phil is just parroting that sentiment.
I look at it like this. Microsoft saw how important having exclusive COD content was for the Xbox 360. Somehow, Sony was able to wrestle it away during the PS4 generation.
One thing is clear: over the last two generations, both consoles have proven that by having COD exclusive/ marketing rights, we saw Microsoft and Sony both have a more competitive edge than when they didn’t.
But I still believe Sony will ultimately be just fine with their superior first party games and better management.
Third party acquisitions/exclusives should not be a thing. That’s what first party studios are for. If a console company can’t succeed on what they already have, then they shouldn’t be in business.
@LordBakemono I’m sure they do as well. But my point was we know very little what’s coming this year from them outside of Spider-Man 2 and we see numbers like this. Now imagine if we had news confirming more first party games? Would that number of units sold be that much higher? Either way, an extraordinary month for PlayStation.
Sony teases are the best. They usually always deliver something great and this will be no exception. My view for a great 2023 would be making more retro Playstation games available and giving us custom backgrounds.
What a year 2023 is shaping up to be. Death Stranding 2, Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Final Fantasy Rebirth. And many others I can’t recall atm.
Played some Tales of Berseria so far. After that, I’m not sure yet. Bought a lot of new games on Black Friday but still have some I’m currently playing atm that I want to finish before starting something new.
@Ravix I feel the very same! It’s currently rainy and cool where I live and the world looks set in some cold climate so it’s a perfect time for me to get into it. And I understand about being in the mood to play it. Earlier when the BTs caught me, I loaded an earlier save before the encounter, saved it, and then turned it off. I’ll give it another go once I’m done playing Some Tales of Berseria. My current position is trying to deliver this equipment, package thing to the west of the bridges base. Not sure where you’re at in your game you may be past me.
@Ravix sounds like some great advice. I’ll take it to heart next time I get into it. It’s a game I’ve always wanted to play but like you said, it can be a little complex to learn all of the intricacies. It’s a beautiful game I am loving just getting lost in my observation of its world.
@Snake_V5 JRPGS do sale a little on Xbox but it’s nowhere near the numbers of Nintendo or Sony’ level. That’s why most devs skip Xbox day 1 releases. Only reason Xbox gets most of the Japanese games is because Phil has to write a check to bring them over.
@Ravix I’m playing Death Stranding this weekend also. It’s a little different than most games I’ll admit, but that’s a good thing. I’m actually struggling at times with it; I’ll put a waypoint on my next delivery but when I exit the map, I don’t see it on the field of view.
I remember what a hassle it was just to download the MW 1 campaign. Add-ons if I remember right and additional other packages before the campaign could even begin. I’ll be skipping COD until they fix the mess they created.
@Dr-M yes I got very dizzy and nauseous when I had mine. I wanted to like it but the constant bouts of dizziness every time I put it on was a deal breaker.
@mcdreamer yeah I agree. The music has very little variety, the dungeons are fairly redundant and the freedom to explore anywhere outside a dungeon is very limited. I’ll still beat it though cause I’m so far in it’s just feels tedious right now.
So I guess we’re not getting any kind of GoW console special edition this time. I was hoping to see one by now. Oh well I’m still picking up the game at least.
@Somebody my point is we should be seeing more PS5 only games and we’re not. I didn’t spend $500 to play PS4 games. The install base for PS5 is over 20 million, and not one Sony game has sold 20 million units that I can think of so why cater to the PS4 crowd still?
This is the direction Sony has been heady in for a while now. Getting rid of Japan studio, relocating headquarters to US, porting games to PC, investing in mobile devs, etc.
So you’re practically admitting my PlayStation 5 purchase is pointless since most games will still operate on an PS4? Unbelievable. I just can’t get over how far you’ve fallen off since the PS4 generation. Y’all done a complete 180.
Syn Duality, Tekken 8, Like A Dragon: Ishin, Rise of the Ronin, Steller Blade and GoW Ragnarok. Great show that highlighted some great looking games. Team Ninja is on a roll! And the guys RGG can’t miss!
We actually had some good news from Nintendo’s direct today. Multiple new games were announced that aren’t even part of SoP. So I see this as a win for Sony.

Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer Project Is Officially Cancelled
I kinda saw this coming. Hardly any news had been shared about it and the fact we hardly have any information from other studios is equally worrisome.
I just hope Sony’s first party situation isn’t in some kind of grave trouble following the Ryan departure and the gaas game fiasco.
Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real
Where’s all the PS5 first party games at? With the exception of Demon’s Souls, they’ve all been cross-gen.
Re: Jim Ryan Retires as PlayStation Boss in March 2024
Good riddance!
Re: Poll: Was Sony's Latest State of Play Worth the Wait?
They needed a SOP for this? Lol that was horrible 🤣
Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Red Dead Redemption on PS4?
Nope. They can keep it. I already have it on Xbox through BC and scored it during one of their 75% off sales years ago.

I started play The Quarry a few days ago and love it! I plan on finishing it this weekend and moving on to RE4R.
Happy gaming everyone!!

Re: February 2023 Circana: PS5 Set New Unit Record for PlayStation, Towered Over Rivals
Great month for PlayStation with hardly and announced first party games for 2023. And Xbox still coming in last place.

I bought a Japanese region free PS3 the other day and been playing Resistance: Fall of Man. Going to finish Ghostwire Tokyo in between that.

Re: Hold On, PS5 Just Outsold Switch in Japan
Very healthy numbers from Sony. More consoles out there means more incentive for developers to start releasing PS5 gen only games.

Playing Ghostwire Tokyo and Shadow of the Colossus. Both amazing games. Shadow of the Colossus remake looks so good!
Re: Poll: Will You Buy the DualSense Edge PS5 Controller, Now We Have a Price?
It’s probably a pass at the moment considering I just bought the purple controller to go along with the white and pink controllers I already have.

There is absolutely nothing on that list that sounds remotely interesting. Bunch of multiplayer/gaas junk. No thanks.
