I loved Days Gone. The story was serviceable but the main character was 2 dimensional at best. Also Deacon St. John sounds like a Garth Marenghi character.

@ED_209 similar to what I’ve heard; ND would have had to drop all other projects just to support this title and direct all staff to work on it. I’ve also heard that focus and feedback groups that played very early iterations of the game were blown away by it. A lot of the elements in development will be carried over into other games.

It looks fantastic on a meaty pc but less so on Xbox (still damned good though). To achieve this the devs have made some pretty drastic compromises: huge black bars, few characters on screen at any time, little/no interaction with the environment, no physics to speak of, limited combat repertoire with what looks like heavy scripting/set-piecing (it reminds of some of the CQC in TLOU and Uncharted). A lot of the playthru I watched yesterday also reminded me of the Isle of Storms in the PS5 Demon’s Souls complete with ‘visceral’ combat against the skelly dudes. Clearly HB2 has much more individual and close up detail but DS’s environments, combat and gameplay were much richer and diverse. It does make me wonder what the PS5 could achieve if a dev took a similar approach to NT’s.

@MrGilly69 What success the 360 had was always overstated. At the time I was reliably informed that if your 360 died from a RROD and you sent it in to be fixed, MS counted that as a new console shipped.

Downloaded FO4 again in anticipation of the patch only to find it crashes every time within a few seconds of starting up.

@Hypoman I know he was approached and supplied concepts for Jodorowsky’s ill-fated attempt at making dune in the 70s. IIRC the team that made Alien did so after another attempt at making Dune and worked with Giger for concepts. There’s a cool looking Harkonnen War Machine image kicking around but this may have been for Jodorowsky’s movie. Moebius was also heavily involved with Jodorowsky’s movie and there is a doco all about that’s well worth checking out.

I would say this might have less to do with Sony and more with the intricacies of licensing deals made when the original content was released.

@IOI Xbox and the gaming division have never been about hardware or titles. They’re just methods to get MS services into the living room. It wouldn’t surprise me if the PS5 didn’t get native ports but just relied on streaming.

For me, Sony desperately needs some exclusives. There’s pretty much nothing on my radar at the moment that I’m waiting for. Spider-Man looked great but held no interest for me.

Make sure you clean your console and your power supply is reliable. I had recurrent crashes with Diablo. Cleaning the fans and heat sinks and moving the plug from an extension in an extension to just a single extension sorted it out.

Very surprised to see this. My 5yr old is obsessed with all the Locoroco games. So much so I resurrected my Vita and bought all of them for him to play. I never expected to see an update.

Fabulous! I love CotL. It’s a nice title to dip into once in a while and lose a few hours.

I have reliable a source that says that 270k figure was out by a reasonably significant percentage at the 4 week mark.

I looked into getting the update. At 40 quid (seems to be only available via the DLCs) they can ffffff...forget it.

Don’t dismiss Dungeons too easily. There’s massive amounts of replayability and it’s a really fun game.

Is it possible to turn off teleport and free move instead? That’s the only thing holding me back from buying this.

Is the upgrade only open to dlc owners? I have the base game but nothing else.

@colonelkilgore Push on through the first 2-3 episodes and it’ll get better. I tried three or four times to watch it initially but gave during the second episode. Once the characters clicked I was hooked.

@BeerIsAwesome MS always plays fast and loose with figures. For example at one point I believe that when they stated Xbox 360 units shipped numbers they were including replacement units sent out due to the RROD. I knew someone who had 4 replacements so in MS’ eyes that counted as 5 units.

MS do not give a rat's arse about gaming. The Xbox is still just a spearhead to get windows and its derivatives as the de facto os for home use.
Game Pass sounds like a wonderful idea but most of my xbox-owning mates say it's devalued games for them. Most games they play for a couple of hours and then move on to the next new thing that pops up on GP.

I was umming and ahhing about buying this earlier in the year and the same day the DC was announced. I’ve held off buying it and luckily last week a pal at Sony said he could get me a code on release day. Yay! Roll on tomorrow. So looking forward to this.

@PSoneboi the irony of the TT guy saying that the R&C portals weren’t all that impressive wasn’t lost on me. I’ve been playing some Lego titles on my ps5 and the load times are still abysmal.

I had an update the other day and the Switcher icon is the DLC image but so far it’s not available in game,

Picked it up on psn in a sale for £15. Well worth it and was my introduction into soulsborne games. Fantastic atmosphere, lovely if a little repetitive in places scenery and some interesting mechanics (your hardened shell is your block).

@Throb “They” didn’t drop an SH nod, some rando on Twitter said “What? Like SH?”

Apart from lolz @ all the suspicious xbot “comments” I’m giving Chivalry 2 a go. The gameplay vidz I’ve seen look like a ton of fun.
