Re: Reaction: You Really Shouldn't Be Surprised Kids Want PS5, PS4 Game Currencies for Xmas

MikeOrator

@MattBoothDev

If a person finds value for themselves in these types of purchases who is to say otherwise? It's not a rip-off or a scam to them.

I also think you might be underestimating how many people are purchasing this stuff. It's not a few whales keeping these currencies afloat. It is many people making many transactions.

Aside from us "hardcore" gaming types there are maybe millions more people that game casually and use this free-to-play gatcha-style content differently than we view it. I would even say that a Fortnight or Genshin player might be even more hardcore than a lot of us. They put in more hours and spend more money on their hobby than some of us buying 6 new games a year and here we are as the "hardcore" crowd complaining about a tenner increase on a few games or not getting a free upgrade to the PS5 version.

Re: Reaction: You Really Shouldn't Be Surprised Kids Want PS5, PS4 Game Currencies for Xmas

I would like to know how many of the people who voted not interested at all would spend the money on a digital game or a season pass for Modern Warfart 22.

Please be honest with yourselves and say that you WOULD ask for it if it was for the correct game. Be it Shark Cards, Ultimate Team, or season passes, you're saying 90% of you wouldn't want any of this in your stocking at all. I smell lies.

Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Really Is Massive as Dev Confirms Series' Biggest Ever Map

MikeOrator

@Scouse_Pirlo

Beating up high schoolers in Lost Judgement was some of the best content this series has ever had...lol...

The entire "school stories" portion of the game was so incredible with the variety of games and content that it felt like an entire second game. Robotics club turned out to be my favorite but only after I figured out what the heck to do. The Dance Club was really fun and gossipy, as well as the boy version of the Dance Club...Boxing Club.

Re: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Really Is Massive as Dev Confirms Series' Biggest Ever Map

MikeOrator

There have always been areas in LaD games that have seemed like there is nothing going on in them. The area has neither a restaurant, mini-game, or patrolling thugs to beat up. These areas do however add to the vibe of it being a real place.

My guess is that they need the map to be bigger in order to make the food delivery minigame better or some sort of Segway racing.

After the masterpiece that is LaD:G:TMWEHN (lol) I fully trust in what RGG is giving us with Infinite Wealth.

Re: The Game Awards Will Get Rid of Iconic World Premiere Banners

MikeOrator

Gamers - We want a showcase of gaming that gives us announcements of new stuff coming up and celebrates the stuff that we love from the past year.

Geoff - Here you guys go, an awards show with announcements and a celebration of all things gaming

Gamers - not that one, that one is "cringy" and "paid for by the game companies"

I mean, who do you think is paying for this show, altruistic gaming fans with a need to spend too much money? Of course, it's paid for by the publishers. Who do YOU think pays for the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys etc, etc. Grow up, Doug.

Remember the silent stoic part of my comment, that's why men don't complain. Just think of leading men's roles in most media. The guy is usually fit, rich, and capable and if he doesn't start out that way he becomes that throughout the story. This now creates an unreasonable expectation for men to be these things, as that is how society measures their value, even if they can't be. Furthermore, these men develop mental health issues, body dysmorphia, and self-esteem issues and this could as we all know lead to violence, depression, or worse.

Yet because men don't say anything it becomes ok as they must be complicit in the stereotype that has been used to portray them in media.

Anyway. Just my 2 cents

Ya, The stupid boycott is for putting rainbows on things and having a pride section. Oh ya...and a new pride Christmas NutCracker soldier thing. ha ha The USA just being as unhinged as ever. People unlike them exist so haters gotta hate.

That being said, the LGBTQ community is also boycotting them because they feel Target is g*y baiting them with all the pride stuff.

Re: Best Yakuza / Like a Dragon Games Ranked: Which Yakuza Games to Play and Where to Start

MikeOrator

@DonaldMcRonald

I do love both as well. I mostly love how things can be different from each other and still be good. I wasn't a giant fan of going back to the brawler combat after playing LAD's turn-based but now it's just the way each protagonist works...its perfect. Now with Infinite Wealth coming up, I can't wait to get back to the turn-based.

Side Note: if anyone from Sega is listening...PLEASE WE NEED A 60FPS patch for Kiwami 2 and Song of Life on PS5.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Enjoys Huge Launch in Europe, Easily Topping the First Game and Miles Morales

MikeOrator

I am watching a conversation on here about how Spider-Man 2 is 1:1 the same as the last game and a half. Again, I have not played the game but I have read and watched quite a bit and I have some questions:

1) Did they not add an entirely new portion of a map, like Brooklyn and Queens or something?
2) Are there not 2 Spider-Mans that have 2 unique fighting styles that can be hot-swapped at any time?
3) Did they not improve the web-slinging to make it faster and more free-flowing and do not both Spider-Mans have different styles of web-slinging?
4) I heard that there are hundreds of small and large graphical enhancements as well as improvements in load times.

Is there something I am missing? Aren't these improvements exactly the kind of things one would be looking for in a sequel?

Anyway, just wanted to get some clarification.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Hogwarts Legacy Apparates Back to the Top Spot

MikeOrator

@Blaze215

Hogwarts Legacy is not nominated for the same reason Assassin's Creed games are also not nominated. As enjoyable as they are and as fun as HL was it was very formulaic and did not really do anything to push its Action/Adventure genre forward. Just because a thing is popular that does not mean it is the best thing ever and needs to be in the running for awards.

HogLeg was a good game, it had a great presentation, the combat was very good and the story served its purpose well, but then again so did Forspoken, and it's been shut out too.

So as we can learn: Popular does not automatically equal GOTY

Quit looking for conspiracies where non exist.

Re: Star Kaitlyn Dever Could Be The Last of Us TV Show's Abby

@NeonTiger

I know what you mean about the harassment. I wonder if these actors, especially female ones, have discussions with the producers about the potential for backlash and other harmful online interactions. The number of careers that get sidelined, derailed, or worse because of "fan" criticism is atrocious.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 PS5 Physical Version Set to Be Announced This Week

MikeOrator

@thefourfoldroot1

This "selling on" is 90% of the reason they want to get rid of physical media. I personally don't care what people do with their physical copies but quit bragging in public spaces that this is why we like physical, it's adding fuel to the digital-only fire for these companies. I'm mostly kidding around with this post so don't take any personal offence.

Re: Like a Dragon Gaiden Is So Confusing Even RGG Studio Got Mixed Up

MikeOrator

@StylesT

THE STORY you mean, you skipped THE STORY. Some of the best crime, no, HUMAN drama in video games, and you SKIPPED IT. <faints while clutching pearls>

It's really not as bad as you think, and after you get past the early chapters of these games it gets better. Once you are let loose in the main area/areas of each game you can pretty much do what you want.

Re: Video: Modern Warfare 3 Maps Lack Character In Side-By Side Comparison

MikeOrator

@Northern_munkey

I get what you are saying and sometimes I even feel all your same frustrations. You are right though, this site relies on engagement in order to earn money from advertising and MW is going to get the most clicks because it's new and people want to engage in it. Like a Dragon got some love this week as it just released, the new PS5 redesign is getting some extra love because it's new. And don't get me started on all the Spider-Man content lately. I just take it with a grain of salt as there is not much else we can do.

Besides I'm here for the lively conversation around all the articles

Re: Best Kids Games on PS5

MikeOrator

These games are all regular video games that have a whimsical art design that makes them look unoffensive and suitable for many ages. Some of the games deal with themes that are more for grown-ups and some have very advanced gameplay techniques. I think we need to decide who "children" are when it comes to lists like this.

Granted you can let a young child loose in most of these games without needing to worry about much blood, sex, violence, or scary stuff, but I would hardly call any of them "children's" games

Bluey: The Video Game, Paw Patrol World, Bratz, Inspector Gadget. These are children's games.

Now if we are talking pre-teens and teens up to 15 these games on the list a fantastic if you don't want your kids engaging in video game violence.

Re: Physical Games Represented Just 4% of Sales for PlayStation Last Quarter

MikeOrator

@DennisReynolds

Look...I understand that you like the taste of the corporate boot. However, it's stepping on the back of your neck and unless you have a very long tongue it will be very hard to lick it.

Sorry, that was a little much. The real problem here is that I don't give two sh*ts if you want to go all digital but you digital people think that us physical collectors are some weird losers who can't accept the future.

I collect physical copies of video games. I like the way they look. The art on the cover, the graphics on the game disc. The feeling of peeling the plastic off a new game before playing it. I have a stand that says "Now Playing" in my media room to display the disc case. Why would I want to give up this entire portion of my video game experience just so these corporations can get more blood out of my stone?

I get that digital is more convenient. I get that it is probably the future. Hell, I do buy some games digitally so I'm not someone who fears this change. I just don't know why everyone needs to be so eager to eliminate physical.

Anyway, we don't really have any control over what corporations do in any real-world way. Digital is better for them so they have convinced us that it's better for us too.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name?

MikeOrator

@Tr3mm0r

"Asianesque"... sheesh pal....why do you click? What is your end game here? You want to erase anime, and games that look like they are from Asia. Quit clicking on articles about this kind of content and go read about Call of Duty. I hear that in those games you may be able to go to foreign countries and kill locals, and that sounds like fun for you.
