Re: PS5 Launch Makes Sea of Thieves One of USA's Best-Selling Games

MikeOrator

@NEStalgia

I agree, I would think that most people starts out in their career with rose-tinted glasses when it comes to making games. Then the reality of deadlines, margins and return on investment rear their ugly heads and we end up with Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Sega, Take-Two, Capcom, SquareEnix, Gearbox...etc etc etc.

Most video game companies have ALWAYS been in it for the money and your right the business ruins the fun for everyone.

Re: PS5 Launch Makes Sea of Thieves One of USA's Best-Selling Games

MikeOrator

@NEStalgia

That was kind of my point...lol. Everything the publishers do these days is to try to make more money from the players, but every attempt is blasted by one part of the fandom or the other.

Developers want to make good games, fans wish for good games, and I think for the most part Publishers want to provide good games. The problem is the stakeholder, the parent company and the Capitalist Pig.

@GamingFan4Lyf

Potatoe/Potatoe (hard to do with both pronunciations spelled the same...lol)

You say: Nintendo is Unique and quirky, and claim it is not their fault that people don't understand their direction

I say: Nintendo should stick with a proven thing and quit trying to reinvent the wheel because they think they are too big to fail.

Either way, if Nintendo messes up the Switch 2 by doing one of their "quirky" things its not going to be good for anybody.

Re: PS5 Launch Makes Sea of Thieves One of USA's Best-Selling Games

MikeOrator

@trev666

Only if the Switch 2 is backward compatible with the Switch making the upgrade easy and it's not another "Nintendo doesn't give a f**k" follow-up to a success. (ie Wii to WiiU). If the Switch 2 is a dog and nobody wants to upgrade, we may as well give Nintendo a standing 8 count. I don't know how well they could weather another failed console launch.

PS4 games on the Switch 2 would do more for Nintendo at launch than for Sony

Besides Nintendo still hates Sony over the whole Nintendo Playstation CD ROM business partnership gone south.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Thanks Fans for 'Passion' Following Censorship Controversy

MikeOrator

@Zenos

I don't know what "false equivalence" means but I can assume it's some sort of way to deflect what is being said to minimize what everyone knows is being said.

PS. I know what it means. In this case, it's not though. People trashed the games because of how the female main characters were being represented in the game with their physical looks and characterization.

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Thanks Fans for 'Passion' Following Censorship Controversy

MikeOrator

To me, there is a fundamental difference between an artist or the publisher of an artist SELF-censoring their work, especially commercial art (which video games mostly are) or a government entity telling me what I can and cannot see.

If we want to complain about censorship let's start with what passes as an impartial newscast from any news provider, not these bits of cloth in a still very adult-looking game.

This crap is making gamers look like what everyone already thinks we are, misogynistic incels. I have been saying this since the beginning, but if we acted chill about this game's content nobody would have given a crap, but the community had to Harald this release as a "taking back games from wokeness" moment.

If everyone is so concerned about an artist's vision being taken away with censorship, you should be just as ready to defend the artist's vision for games like Forspoken, Horizon and The Last of Us.

Re: Talking Point: What's Next for Xbox Games on PS5, PS4?

MikeOrator

This pole should be taken with a grain of salt. As interesting is it is to see the prevailing opinion of people on this website, we, as I have said before are not the entire gaming public. Most people who own consoles have no interest in who makes or publishes a game they see a game that their friends are playing and want it too. Fans of the individual consoles may pay attention to this stuff but the average Joe Consumer does not.

Re: PS5 Sensation Stellar Blade Has One of the Highest User Ratings Ever

MikeOrator

@NEStalgia

I was writing something similar until I read this and decided to respond to yours. I have been saying similar things since the beginning. Even though I believe this game deserves to exist, a certain segment of the fandom has ruined my desire to own the game. I mean, I like a bit of fanservice, or at least I'm not offended by it, but the misogyny on display with this part of the fandom is beyond even the normal amount.

I also find myself curiously thrilled at the latest controversy surrounding 2 of the costumes being redesigned. I am not a fan of censorship, but watching these gamer bros go crazy is a wonderful catharsis.

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio Says No to Romance, Unlike the Persona Games

MikeOrator

@NEStalgia @Mintie @Jaz007

From what I have seen with the SMT/Persona community as a newly minted member, fans of this series stand in line with fists full of cash saying "YASS DADDY" as Atlus edges us (can I say that here) with DLC and rereleases.

@NEStalgia the term you used, grooming, is probably the most accurate word for this...lol...

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio Says No to Romance, Unlike the Persona Games

MikeOrator

Just as an aside about this game.

When we have seen trailers for this game they have always been emblazoned with the Xbox logo and have not had any PlayStation branding. We do know, however, that it is not an Xbox exclusive. So I went over to PureXbox just to see what the buzz was over there about this game as it's being marketed by Microsoft (I guess). What did I find you ask, two articles with 16 total comments between the two of them? In contrast, this site has 10 articles with dozens of comments on each.

Don't know what to do with this info but I thought I would share.

Re: Rumour: Assassin's Creed Hexe Out in 2026, More Linear Than Open World

MikeOrator

I was about to write an essay about my love of Ubisoft open-world games and how I have fallen off them but then I decided to say this:

Less of them coming out yearly has freed up my time to play other things. Now I get what everyone was talking about when they would bash them. I have finally escaped from the Stockholm Syndrome that Ubisoft had placed on me.

That being said, I still hope these new AC games are good.

Re: SMT 5: Vengeance Offers '75 More Hours of Gameplay', Says Atlus

MikeOrator

I have decided to make this the year of Atlus. I had a detour with Fallout 76 for about 8 hours (mistake). Playtime this year includes Persona 3R with second playthrough for Plat, Soul Hackers 2, Persona 5 Royal, SMTVV, Persona 5 Stikers, Metaphor: Refantazio, and Persona 4 Golden (from Limited Run). I May pick up a copy of SMTIII on PS4. I have been trying to source out some 3DS games but I cannot abide paying those prices, hoping to find some yard sale deals. I get this is ambitious but, /shrug/ gonna give it the old hyper fixation and see what happens.

Re: TV Show Review: Fallout - RPG Series Marks Another TV Triumph

MikeOrator

@Terra_Custodes

Its all good. I get heated sometimes and I was probably a little overzealous in my response. I will say that I have not played the first 2 so I cannot even judge that. I did however redownload Fallout 76 because of the show and guess what...It's crap. If Fallout 4 was a mess it was at least some sort of fun but 76 does not even have the fun left in it. Fallout 76 should be called, "Over-Encumbrance: The Search for Caps". Why tell me, in my menu, that a gun is worth 63 caps if I can only sell it for 3 caps which is 2 caps less than it costs to buy 1 bullet...??!?!??!?

Re: Fear Not, PS5 Exclusive Stellar Blade Remains Uncensored in All Regions

MikeOrator

@MrBook

I did play the demo. It seemed janky to me. Or at least I couldn't forgive the jank as much as some people seem to be able to.

Don't get me wrong, I think this game deserves to exist in its current presentation. But the way it's being lifted by some of the community and used as a pillar in their so-called "war on wokeness" is a shame

Re: Fear Not, PS5 Exclusive Stellar Blade Remains Uncensored in All Regions

MikeOrator

@MrBook

Again I must preface my comment by saying that a little bit of fan service in a game is always fun for the right games. TONS of games offer this with varying quality, Final Fantasy, Nier, Atelier series, and even Genshin/Honkai. So actually, there isn't a shortage of games with "smexy gyatt" in them.

But this game has been BLOWN out of proportion to what it is, a janky AA game. It would not have been in any conversation if this game had a "realistic" character model. I also feel that the wrong side of the fandom is using this game as a flag to wave in protest of perceived "wokeness" in games.

Sexyness in a game does not make average gameplay better, just as realism does not make great gameplay bad.

Re: TV Show Review: Fallout - RPG Series Marks Another TV Triumph

MikeOrator

@Terra_Custodes

This is like saying Rockstar Grand Theft Auto or actual Grand Theft Auto.

I don't make a distinction because the vast majority of the world's population has no idea there is a difference and of the very few that do know most of them don't care.

So to answer your question. The Fallout that most gamers "actually" played and know.

Fallout 1 and 2 came out so long ago as to be considered like Dig Dug or Frogger. Something for grandpas to rave about while they say things like "back in my day" or "get off my lawn"
