Like most people, my first Persona game was 5. I loved it, so I looked into the older games but for me OLD GAME IS OLD. So I left them. Fast Forward to Persona 3 Reload, all fancied up for my shiny PS5. So that could be one reason, people want to play a game they missed with the latest features and enhancements.
Another example would be Mafia (the first one) I never got around to playing it but I would have never played it on the old hardware but with its new graphical update and reworked cut scenes I played a great game for the first time. I would never have played it otherwise.
The vast improvement IS the increase in fidelity, FPS and ray tracing. It's almost like you naysayers are WILLFULLY ignoring the differences just to be sour grapes. There is also twice the hard drive space. So ya those are the differences...oh ya...and racing stripes...vroom vroom.
To everyone complaining about a white disc drive. It states in both the article and in the direct that there will be a matching cover for your future disc drive on both the PS5 Slim Digital and the PS5 Pro. It will be in the box an it will all match. Sony may want way more money than most of us have, but they DON'T miss details like this.

A remake of 1 and 2 a remaster of Second Son and a reboot with a new game. I know we really want that Ghost of Tsushima 2 but can't Sucker Punch do both.
I hope it doesn't sell well though, that way I will have a chance at one and maybe the scalpers will leave it alone. Comparing apples to apples. I'm not using sales tax as it differs from province to province.

PS5 Slim Digital - 579 CAD
The difference is - 370 CAD difference, or 272 USD instead of 250 USD I already said so yes the exchange does change the actual difference by $21 (oh no I won't eat at Tim Hortons for 2 days)
Besides this is still less than the price of an Oasis ticket that people have no problem buying...lol...
I did not address the rest of your comment but as for the PS4 generation and the PS4 Pro. I did not get a Pro and I did not feel like I was left behind at all. Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead Redemption 2, all looked just as good on my launch PS4 as I could have expected from them.
If there was a tool, in the industry that you work in, that could make your job easier, more efficient, and less costly, would you not use that tool? Why are developers lazy for using the tools provided to them to get the job done more effectively?
I still cannot believe people are doubling down on the criticism of PS5 Pro:
a) Not making a difference because they still can't see it. They are either trolling or have their heels dug in because they don't want to see it because that would prove a case use for the system
b) Saying that the difference isn't worth 700 buck. Its not worth $700. The price is $250 more than a base PS5 and a third of that cost is more memory. Maybe this is still not worth it to YOU but the truth is what the truth is.
It's time to move on people. This is happening and there is nothing you can do to stop it from happening. Either get on the Bandwagon or go back to complaining about Concord.
Sometimes I feel the same way. Star Wars IS about the Jedi and the rest are just bit players in the Galaxy. But aside from the usual gripes about Ubisoft and their style of game design, I fell that they did get the "mood" of Star Wars fairly spot on. The "used" aspect of the world that Lucas ensured was part of at least the original trilogy is intact. We even have run-ins with the Rebellion and of course the Empire. So I really cannot fault them on the world-building.
Are there better SW games...sure...but discounting Outlaws as not a Star Wars game seems unfair.

I get it. Corporate greed has actually made gaming kinda crap since Embraser Group and other big companies started buying everything during the pandemic thinking they had a new constant revenue stream. Games are rushed, there is less inovation, prices keep going up, and everything is micro transactions and monitization scheems. But here is the rub...MOST...not all...but MOST of us don't care, we are still going to open our wallets on day one and say "Thank You Daddy". The cheapest 4070 desktop I can find is still 600 bucks more than a PS5 Pro (source Best Buy Canada). And that don't include a controller or a keyboard and mouse.
What drives me crazy about it is that I will need a disc drive and they are already being scalped on eBay and Etsy. Make it 789 and include the drive then at least I will be guaranteed a drive at launch.

It's a $250 premium over the regular PS5 Slim Digital 280 is you take out the price for a stand. But 250 for this example
(700 PS5 pro - 450 for digital slim = 250)
$100 to $175 range for 1 TB SSD (Samsung 990 Pro).
SOOOO...that means it is really only $75 to $150 for the estimated 45% increase in horsepower.
Sure, it is still a lot of money, it's almost 1000 Canadian Dollars for this thing. I just don't think Sony is that far out to lunch considering how much the base models already are.
I'm still disappointed that I may be priced out of this new system but that's a ME problem not a SONY problem.
My take is that the system looks good, fantastic even, and I definitely want one. It solves my fidelity vs performance gripes with the current PS5 and I want it so bad that my heart hurts. But unfortunately, I am one of the poors. I will find the money though and I will get this sooner or later.

Sorry about that, I know you can probably defend yourself but I am in a sassy mood and you and @Czar_Khastik are 2 reasons I try to read the comments every day.
That was a good post, and I agree to a point, a person's financial situation is definitely going to determine what they buy and what they don't.
However, a lot of this gamer rage is nothing but character assassinations of certain games based on anti-woke ideology - uglifying females, sexual orientation, race, etc etc. These people use dog whistles like "poor writing", "uninspired character design", "last-gen AI" or whatever other talking points they can muster. Then to prove their point they purposefully break the game or act like something is badly done when in fact 99% of people who play the game never see these as issues.
Then once the views start rolling in from all their basement-dwelling crayon-eating viewership the rest of the channels like "Michael Does Life" or "Angry Joe" will jump on for clicks and likes. There are literally hundreds of these YouTube channels with the same thumbnail all vying for negative attention.
But the worst part is that anyone who says anything positive about the game that is this week's target is called a shill for merely suggesting that the game has any merit.
So this is how I decide to buy games now, if these guys hate it, day one purchase and I am never disappointed.

Until there is a credit for giving up my licence to a digital game to spend on another digital game I am going to buy the boxed version.

lol...I have heard he is a terrible person but I think he has mellowed with age. I also know he didn't write as many Metallica riffs as he would lead people to believe, I just like pushing buttons and it's nice to argue about music instead of video games for a change...lol...

That was a good post, and I agree to a point, a person's financial situation is definitely going to determine what they buy and what they don't.
However, a lot of this gamer rage is nothing but character assassinations of certain games based on anti-woke ideology - uglifying females, sexual orientation, race, etc etc. These people use dog whistles like "poor writing", "uninspired character design", "last-gen AI" or whatever other talking points they can muster. Then to prove their point they purposefully break the game or act like something is badly done when in fact 99% of people who play the game never see these as issues.
Then once the views start rolling in from all their basement-dwelling crayon-eating viewership the rest of the channels like "Michael Does Life" or "Angry Joe" will jump on for clicks and likes. There are literally hundreds of these YouTube channels with the same thumbnail all vying for negative attention.
But the worst part is that anyone who says anything positive about the game that is this week's target is called a shill for merely suggesting that the game has any merit.
So this is how I decide to buy games now, if these guys hate it, day one purchase and I am never disappointed.

Star Wars: Outlaws didn't die, it was murdered. Rage-baiting, copycat, asmongold wannabes, who only desire engagement from their brain rot sycophants. The same thing is going to happen to AC: Shadows whether it's a good game or not. Not every game needs to be a precious Elden Ring
