Re: Suda 51 Says 'Everyone Cares Too Much About Metacritic Scores'

MikeOrator

Everyone's here acting like they weren't enjoying a hate pile-on for Star Wars: Outlaws or the Borderlands movie based on review scores. LOL If this article was about how the developers at Ubisoft or Randy Pitchford thought that review scores were dumb, the same people would be defending Metacritic instead of insisting they don't pay any attention. Confirmation bias is strong in this comment sections.

Re: Feature: PS5 Pro's Been Clowned on By the Entire Internet, and the Memes Will Make You Laugh

MikeOrator

Typical internet gut reaction that everyone doubles and triples down on. We should have all taken a few hours to mull over the situation and just looked at this objectively. Instead, everyone rushed to social media with prepared rage bait just so they could generate clicks. All these influencers will be the first in line to get one so they can make follow up videos called "I just bought the PS5 Pro So you don't have to" ridiculous. At least everyone stopped bashing Star Wars: Outlaws for a few hours.

Re: 'It Makes Sense Why the PS5 Pro Price Is So High,' Say Tech Experts

MikeOrator

@Zeke68

I get it. Corporate greed has actually made gaming kinda crap since Embraser Group and other big companies started buying everything during the pandemic thinking they had a new constant revenue stream. Games are rushed, there is less inovation, prices keep going up, and everything is micro transactions and monitization scheems. But here is the rub...MOST...not all...but MOST of us don't care, we are still going to open our wallets on day one and say "Thank You Daddy". Is this right, probably not, but it doesn't matter as we just want things so we feel better.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

@Titntin

Logic and reason are swear words in the gaming community these days. Bottom line: Just because someone can't afford something does not mean it is overpriced. Your car analogy works perfectly. Many car enthusiasts would love to own a Ferrari, but will they be able to afford one? Not a chance.

Re: This May Be the Most Pointless Boxed PS5 Game Ever

MikeOrator

@thiagoauler

Until digital games are significantly less than the boxed version, I am going to buy the boxed version.

Until there is a credit for giving up my licence to a digital game to spend on another digital game I am going to buy the boxed version.

The ONLY benefit to digital is never having to swap games.

@Flaming_Kaiser

Why is it wasteful? If someone wants it on the shelf next to some merch and other collectibles why should they not have it. Who cares what someone spends 40 bucks on. It’s their 40 bucks. And if it doesn’t sell then we probably wont see something like this again.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

MikeOrator

Doing some very quick internet sleuthing I priced it out.

It's a $250 premium over the regular PS5 Slim Digital 280 is you take out the price for a stand. But 250 for this example
(700 PS5 pro - 450 for digital slim = 250)

$100 to $175 range for 1 TB SSD (Samsung 990 Pro).

SOOOO...that means it is really only $75 to $150 for the estimated 45% increase in horsepower.

Sure, it is still a lot of money, it's almost 1000 Canadian Dollars for this thing. I just don't think Sony is that far out to lunch considering how much the base models already are.

I'm still disappointed that I may be priced out of this new system but that's a ME problem not a SONY problem.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

MikeOrator

My take is that the system looks good, fantastic even, and I definitely want one. It solves my fidelity vs performance gripes with the current PS5 and I want it so bad that my heart hurts. But unfortunately, I am one of the poors. I will find the money though and I will get this sooner or later.

PS Does anyone need a kidney?

Re: Concord Will Remain in Prime Video's Secret Level Anthology Series

MikeOrator

Everyone is saying this game was bad. I did not play it as I don't play online games at all, so I cannot judge its gameplay but I have read that the minute-to-minute gameplay was quite good. The game also had a few innovative ideas that made it a little unique. So what was so bad about the game then? (ps: I know what the dog whistles will be) So just say the quiet part out loud when answering (or ignoring) this question.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Director a 'Little Disappointed' with Critical Reception

MikeOrator

Gamers: We want a GOTY contenders for every game that is released and we will not accept any flaws from any game that comes out.

Developers: OK we can do that but the development cycle is going to be much longer....
Publishers: ...and the games are probably going to cost more to make and will be more for the consumer to purchase.

Gamers: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!...we want new PERFECT games from every studio every 18 months or less for 50 buck each. No micro transactions, no season passes, and defiantly no paid for DLC. Also, it needs to work right out of the box, NO DAY ONE UPDATES!!!!! OH YA and no crunch either...

Developers and Publishers: Come on guys, game development is hard and there are a lot of moving parts in these games. Compromises sometimes are made in order to make other parts of the game better.

Gamers: F**K Y*U you get a 1 on Metacritic and 1000 stink pieces on Youtube trashing your game to oblivion to the point that even the casuals won't buy it.

Got it.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws, XDefiant Disappointments Pour Pain on Ubisoft's Share Prices

MikeOrator

@CrashBandicoat

That was a good post, and I agree to a point, a person's financial situation is definitely going to determine what they buy and what they don't.

However, a lot of this gamer rage is nothing but character assassinations of certain games based on anti-woke ideology - uglifying females, sexual orientation, race, etc etc. These people use dog whistles like "poor writing", "uninspired character design", "last-gen AI" or whatever other talking points they can muster. Then to prove their point they purposefully break the game or act like something is badly done when in fact 99% of people who play the game never see these as issues.

Then once the views start rolling in from all their basement-dwelling crayon-eating viewership the rest of the channels like "Michael Does Life" or "Angry Joe" will jump on for clicks and likes. There are literally hundreds of these YouTube channels with the same thumbnail all vying for negative attention.

But the worst part is that anyone who says anything positive about the game that is this week's target is called a shill for merely suggesting that the game has any merit.

So this is how I decide to buy games now, if these guys hate it, day one purchase and I am never disappointed.

Re: Preview: Metaphor: ReFantazio Won't Blow You Away in Its First Hour

MikeOrator

This game is going to be just fine. We need to stop looking for reasons this may fail. Be it marketing, slow tutorials, or enhanced editions in a year. This game has unique visuals, an interesting combat system, and an amazing pedigree. The developers are also being very upfront with us on what the game is with the slow drip feed of new details.

I really want this game to skate through its release cycle without becoming a battleground in the culture wars or game company hate fests.

Re: Round Up: Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Reviews Are Hit and Miss

MikeOrator

Ubisoft Haters: I am cheering for Star Wars: Outlaws to fail as I feel of all the companies trying to earn a profit off my back for some reason when Ubisoft does, it's 100 times worse.

Review Sites: Star Wars: Outlaws is pretty good, solid 7 or 8 out of 10. Not revolutionary but if you like games like this you will like this game. Not GOTY but a fun game with some good content.

Ubisoft Haters: The game still sucks, everyone who likes the game is either a casual or is a shill for Ubisoft.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Concord PS5, PC Review?

MikeOrator

@naruball

They certainly are interested in steamrolling over things they don't like that's for sure. Nothing is more fun on the internet than a good old hatred pile-on. Last week was Borderlands movie, next week will be more Star Wars Outlaws. I can't even watch most of the weirdo game influencers on YouTube any longer. They are completely obsessed with wokeness, digital female bodies, and historical accuracy in fictional games. /eyeroll.
