I played it for a bit. Combat is quite fun even though it's button-mashy at first it does feel good when you can link combos and make ultimate moves. The exploration puzzle game is different if very simple, probably for accessibility but also because it's in the early stages of the narrative. Characters have some nice designs and should keep the cosplayers busy trying to piece together. But as for the Gatcha stuff, like all these games the early stages are fairly generous with mats but I know they will start to ramp up needs and therefore purchasing with real money
I hear you. Lots of games are coming out this fall. However, until ANY game is released we have no idea if it will be good. That even goes for my personal hotly anticipated game Metaphor: Refantazio.
I agree with most on here. These look OK but not great. Jin does look the best. The price is fairly low so I can see how some of their details may not be there. But the GoW ones look like 1970's Kenner Star Wars 4" action figures.
Let us hope. I sense that Ubisoft, being the current face of bad video game practices, may have a long road to recovery. Some real or contrived controversy always overshadows any positive thing they do.
Regardless of what gaming media would have us believe most of the gaming public does not care that "Ubisoft Suck" or whatever. Both Shadows and Outlaws look like good solid fun games. As for the controversies, nobody stopped buying Hogwarts because of controversy so no one will stop buying Shadows either.
If they made it a "bad guy game" where you play as Saruman industrializing The Shire like at the end of LOTR books. It would be the same gameplay loop of building and crafting but the hobbits would be your slaves and it would be for both revenge and profit. Eventually, you must repel pesky hobbit forces returning from destroying the ring, but this time Saruman wins.
8 out of 10 is more like what the main game should have got for a score back at release. Elden Ring is definitely a 10/10 Soulsborne game, but to me, it was just Breath of the Wild, a real 10/10 game, with more crying...lol...
And you know what, I would not want them to change. Nintendo can be frustrating from time to time but they add a 3rd perspective from the big 2 that would be sorely missed if they ever stopped being Nintendo.
Fable, Avowed, Indiana Jones, day one on game pass.
But best of all, because I have a PS5, an XSX and a Switch I am now better than everyone still trapped in the petty console wars. The only thing I am missing is a PC but for me, that might be a bridge too far.
I don't think it is fair to compare SGF to E3. E3 had a carnival-like atmosphere and exclusiveness in the beginning that made it seem almost mythical. It started to decline when every two-bit influencer with a YouTube channel got to go and then worse yet when they decided to open it to the public. I mean at that point... what's the point?
Summer Game Fest is starting from a place that E3 was turning into so gamers already think it sucks but it's become important to the games industry for creating hype and interest for their product.
I just went to Konami's website to look because surely they must have something going on...but Yikes! It's a lot of remakes and rereleases of legacy titles. Konami should have bent over backward for Kojima to keep him from leaving.
As far as I can tell from reading the official New World website and a couple of others (digital trends, GameSpot) it does NOT look like the MMO aspect has been stripped from the game. There is a bit of talk about changes in the game to make it easier to "solo" the content and a revamp to classes and combat to make it more palatable to console users.
But nothing actually says NEW MMO FOR CONSOLE either.
I'm fairly certain that at least half of the trailer was gameplay. Maybe not a deep dive with narration from a developer, but enough that you can tell what the game is.
After all she's been through she deserves to be happy and to enjoy some time for herself or to spend time with people not asking her to save the world once more.
I know that time is short and that Nemesis is on its way but please can the girl catch her breath?
If we were being honest, people would have complained about "funny" Aloy in the main series as being too MCU-like in humour. I don't think Aloy or Horizon would avoid criticism in either case.
I somewhat agree, and I hope Aloy is a little less dour in Horizon 3, now that she has found love.
"In French, "amuse bouche" means literally "it amuses the mouth." The French were using "amuse-bouche" as a word for appetizers when English speakers embraced the culinary term almost a quarter of a century ago."
Atlus marketing is very good at it is letting us know exactly what we are buying. Has everyone seen the deluge of information for SMTV:V these last months...its crazy
I am firmly on the positive side of this game after its fantastic showing this weekend. I will, from now on, only agree with articles that confirm my bias...
JRPGs should have an Anime look, Wifus and Husbandos, weird haircuts, only enough sexual innuendo and implied nudity to ensure they can still get a teen rating, and course turn-based combat.
They don't need blood, guts, actual nudity, or souls-bourne gameplay mechanics. Not that there is anything wrong with these games either they are just not JRPGs to me.
I'm still on the fence with this one myself. However, it looks about as good as most of the other Assassin's Creed games. I have too much to play this fall already and this may be the first AC game I don't get at launch since Unity. It is tempting though, AC to me is like comfort food, and I do love some Ubisoft Open World checkmark maps.
I hate how easily I am manipulated with some good choice gameplay footage. It's embarrassing how much of a stan I am now for this game after this showcase. I went from "wait and see" to "day one". I am using all my willpower to wait for early impressions from gaming websites and not pre-ordering.
I will buy this day one and be part of the problem...lol...I will also buy the ReElected GOTY edition with all the DLC and a different cover, hopefully in a steel book.
I am going to stop reading about this game. I want to know less and Atlus is always so good at giving us so much information that it's starting to get into spoiler territory...lol...
No, you are not. I love Lego games and I love Lego. However, I am more excited to see what real-world Lego sets come out of this to go with my Tallneck set.
I will say that this world looks to be made completely of Lego, unlike the more recent Lego games with a pre-rendered backdrop of real-looking things filled with Lego models.
I am not sure why people started using the term 'anti-consumer" to describe the money-making schemes that companies use to extract wealth from our pockets. The term Anti-Consumer comes from a movement where people refuse to buy things or consume products on principle.
Quoting a Google search:
"Anti-consumerism is a sociopolitical ideology. It has been defined as "intentionally and meaningfully excluding or cutting goods from one's consumption routine or reusing once-acquired goods with the goal of avoiding consumption""
This sounds to me like we should be the anti-consumer and refuse to purchase or "consume" these products that the game companies offer us.
The best term to use for some of these wealth-extracting practices should just be "Rip Off"
Eg: Making me pay for New Game Plus is a Rip Off and I am going to be an anti-consumer regarding this game.
However, Merriam-Webster does define Anti-Consumer as "not favourable to consumers: improperly favouring the interests of businesses over the interests of consumers" so /shrug/
Anyway, just expressing a small annoyance with the use of a term...
I just read a good article on IGN that is an interview with Bioware's Gary McKay. I am not sure if I am allowed to link it here but will attempt. Article has put a few of my fears to rest though.
