It's not just this site. There are many spoiled rage-baiting Playstation commenters on YouTube, Twitter, and the Playstation blog who are falling all over each other just to one-up with the hate. However, I liken it to sports fans who are always yelling at the TV when their favorite team does dumb stuff. Armchair CEOs just having a bit of extremely angry fun...lol...and trolls...there are always trolls.
I can still appreciate the skill needed to be good as a player and the insane amount of work the developer does to ensure the game is balanced, but fighting games are not my jam
Another PS+ post comment section where everyone either thinks that these digital games are a way to archive a permanent library, S**t talks Ubisoft, brags that they are WAY cooler game enjoyers because they have played 30 indie side scrollers that are all the same, or declares their intention to let their sub run out for real this time guys.
Sure glad those people who are crying about this being taken over by robots feel good lining up at the self-checkout at Walmart or getting their drone delivery from Amazon.
It's not like the CEO is sitting at their desk messing around with Bing Image Creator. The creative people are using it to expand their toolbox and make mundane tasks easier
The last time I tried to argue with an ad hominem attack I had my post deleted so no thank you. Try to debate points, not a person's intelligence. Good Day to you sir.
Last night during Sony's presentation I found out about Sophy 2.0 for the first time. I don't play GT7 so I don't follow it and I guess I have been living under a rock. For those that do play GT7 how do you feel about this feature and does it make a difference in the game?
Almost like third-party acquisitions are a stop-gap to round out the delayed first-party content. I would surmise that Sony may still be behind in exclusive content development because of the year that wasn't. Like all those first-party exclusives that went to PC during the hardware shortage, or releasing all these first parties on PS4 for longer than normal. It almost looks like what they have been doing since 2020 has been to ensure the health of the PlayStation brand for many years in the future.
Thank you for the response. I would like to mention that I didn't come to the defense of turn-based combat because of Like a Dragon. I have played both types and I would say that the traditional Beat 'em Up style is still my favorite combat in the franchise. I just didn't agree with your claim that turn-based combat was a relic of the past. Anyway, no hard feelings, and happy gaming.
Actually, that is one thing I don't understand with this game. Why did they go with the actual name of the city and not a similar fantasy name to go with the fantasy version of the city you are in?
Turn based should just stay as a thing of the past. Relic of an old age.
Turn-based is not a thing of the past. It is widely used in a lot of modern RPGs and JRPGs. Persona, Dragon Quest, Octopath Traveler, not to mention a little game that won GOTY in 2023, Baldur's Gate 3. Maybe it's not your style of play and that is fine, and I can absolutely understand where the tedium might come from. But when turn-based is done correctly the strategy involved in managing an entire party, especially in a boss battle, can be quite exhilarating
As much as I respect what these indie developers are doing I probably will not get to any of these games unless they come to PS+ and then I will try them but not stick to any of them long enough to finish. I know I should be supporting these smaller companies as this is the future of games for the most part. I also realize that there are probably 10 games on this list with more interesting and varied gameplay than the last 10 AAA games I have played. There just is never anything that hooks my ADHD like a good Collect-a-Thon open world from Ubisoft, Rockstar, or the various PlayStation Studios.
I played the game and not sure what mind virus you are referring to. They went through a wormhole and defeated 2 fallen Jedi but I don't remember a mind virus
Not to mention the return of the actual Pokemon spoof game, Sugimon, which seems way more involved than the last version in LAD 7. Battles, evolutions, friending, raising...
Star Wars Outlaws (Ubisoft hate) and Last of Us Part 2 (Neil Druckman hate) being in the top 10 anticipated games indicates to me, that prevailing opinion on social media from the usual rage-baiting content creators, does not tell the entire story of what actual video game enthusiasts want or like.
You know, the real fans. The ones who are here for the entire journey of this story and not just to digitally cosplay as a gruff old dude saving a princess...AGAIN... <insert eye roll>
Wasn't the Kamurocho Underground Dungeon and the Millennium Tower just this? I remember playing the Dungeon and Tower for HOURS just to level up my jobs to 99 so I could tackle the True Final Millennium Tower. Shamefully I never got to the final boss in that mode...may go back and finish someday
Now Now. The open world from Forspoken was good and that is what we are talking about in this category. We aren't talking about the narrative, the characters, or even the combat. Forspoken had a great world that had an issue with its game.
There is always one game that gets all the flack each year and it was Forspoken this year. To bad though as it did have a fantastic amount of potential.
This person's first post was Friday and they have been coming in hot with anti-sony ranting since then. It's almost like they created an account just to cause a ruckus. You are right though, we don't mind differing opinions here, but FFS, @HonestTruth should try acting with a little bit of humility their first week here.
Who's the @HonestTruth person? They seem upset about something. Not sure what brought them here but I sure am grateful for their perspective. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion even if it's not yours, correct, or even based on facts. Not saying this is the case with this person, just saying how varied opinions can be and what kinds of opinions are out there.
Halfway through a playthrough of Jedi: Survivor. I skipped it because of the graphical glitches and whatnot on release. Sadly these have not been fixed but I got it for a great deal at GameStop so I thought why not?
This is a fantastic game, the precision jumping, the environmental puzzles, the Metroidvania aspects of the exploration. It even has what some consider a bad word...a collect-a-thon...lol...(I love a good seek and find). I have not perfected my combat strategies yet, but it seems really purposeful and well-constructed. The story is good so far and the characters are written with complicated emotions and motivations. Good Game over all.
That's fair, not saying you shouldn't. But try to think of something in your life that you spend money on frivolously that you could do without but still love and then think of somebody trying to tell you you don't need it. It's not any kind of chemical dependency just a fun thing.
Maybe you like setting off fireworks, you spend money on a bunch for the weekend, light them on fire, and after a few thrilling minutes, POOF, done. Some would say that you wasted your money as you have nothing to show for it but the memories of the colorful explosions, and maybe a few pictures that pale in comparison to the event itself.
I'm just saying that maybe, just maybe, these people who are buying all this digital content are happy doing what they do. And isn't that a good thing no matter how You feel about it?
Do you mean like all things Capitalism...its all predatory and grinds on your desire to fit in. Brand name clothes, brand name beverages, brand name containers for your beverage. Unboxing for name brands, name brand phones, and the different types of cars from lame to cool to exotic. It's all Fortnight skins as far as the eye can see.
It's only worthless if it has no worth to you. The people who buy these cosmetics feel that they are getting their money's worth out of them. I know how a lot of us in the comment section feel about microtransactions in games but some (more like A LOT of) people do not feel that there are any issues with spending the money on this type of content.
Just play 0 and if you like that play whichever ones you want after that. Most of the plot points between games don't matter but the journey of Kiryu's life and his relationships are the best part of these games.
But you need to stick it out though. There are lots of cut scenes, and lots of side content, and the game can become grindie (grindy), but the human stories are really where it is at.
Or play Judgement and Lost Judgement.
Also, play with subs and Japanese voice acting. SOOOO good.
The Game Awards just have the unfortunate position of being very close to a toxic fandom that rags on everything just to rage farm clicks. I really don't think any of the "influencers" on YouTube hate things as much as they pretend to hate them, but for these guys to say "The Game Awards were good this year and Geoff did a good job" does not equal engagement. Then all the fanbois of these YouTube channels have just formed their opinions around these manipulators and become little echo chambers for an opinion that they think is theirs.
But it's EVERY...SINGLE...MONTH from all the same people and it absolutely is entitlement. What do they, and you, think we SHOULD be getting if not for 16 games of varying quality and age?
And the Spoodermans 3 is not a real game just a fake name I made up in case you missed it. It was a fake quote from somebody thinking that the latest and greatest should be on the service.
So again my question to the community is, what games would you like that you would not complain about?
I really do believe that there is a level of entitlement that runs like poison through all fan-based hobbies. I would really like to see how unrealistic and unattainable some people's wish lists would be for them to not complain about these games every single f**king month. Sheesh.
"if me don't get spooder-mans 3 for free me gonna quit"
I too am an edgelord who thinks all these games are crap. Even if this list had somthing that is perfect for me I’m still to cool to admit it. I’m sure all the other gaming babies will lap up all these subpar games but for me all 800 suck.
My bad. It’s through Xbox storefront on PC. I did a quick search because a while ago every one on the PlayStation forums was complaining it was no longer ps exclusive. Oh well…unlike my wife I’m not right about everything.
To be fair, Death Stranding is not a PlayStation exclusive as it is now on Xbox too. And to the writer's point, the entire thing was kinda unnecessary and most of the people in that room and at home would have rather seen something about Death Standing 2 both Xbox and Playstation fanboys included.
Edit: this is a Playstation fan site in case you forgot.
...and here I was thinking that these developers and publishers are actually taking it all seriously. The guy from Remedy seemed genuinely honored to win Best Game Direction. And the guy who won for Best Performance was so thrilled to have his name called. Sure it is a showcase of upcoming games and talent but the show is not as (to use an overused word) cringy as it used to be. It think it feels more legitimate than ever.
cash grab for publishers (kinda the same point as above)
no reselling or trading
We all know the digital world is coming but I think there is still room for physical in this space. Most of us just feel that digital is being forced upon us by corporations for reasons that don't necessarily benefit the gamers.
Don't worry. Playstation may only have a few things coming up but they all looked WAY better and farther along than anything Microsoft showed. The only way they could get their name on a game releasing in the next year is by splashing it on third-party games releasing on Game Pass. Anyway, don't let the Sony haters on a Sony fansite get you down. I am excited for Rise of Ronin too.
When I saw this all I could think of was the San Andreas meme. I was there for the launch of No Mans Sky and it was a very dire situation for Hello Games and Sean seemed fairly shell-shocked announcing this game. I hope they don't get any pressure from the media, their publisher, or fans, to launch until it's 100% ready.
GTA...Grand Theft Auto you say...huh, isn't that just Yakuza/Like a Dragon but with US culture?
But seriously, Rock Star's allegorical take on the condition of the USA seems they are writing this game as a dystopian hellscape. Their take on America is always a little too close for comfort. GTA games are not always just about violent people doing violent things but are about people who were sold a (an American) dream and they are willing to destroy whatever they need to to make that dream come true. The main protagonists are always fighting to get what they think they deserve based on manifest destiny only to find out that it was never meant for them.

Being an ally does not equal virtue signaling. To claim so is misogynistic
Harassment of women is way worse than the harassment of men. To claim it not is to be misogynistic.
Men with muscles is a male power fantasy but over-sexualized women is not a female power fantasy. To say otherwise is misogynistic.
The harassment of women and girls is very real and if it's argued that it's just as bad for men and boys, that is misogyny.
