Re: Resident Evil 2 (PS5) - A Cheap and Fairly Cheerful Upgrade

@awp69 sounds great! Unjust saw gameplay from the Gaming Tech YouTube channel. He showed RE 3 and in the RT mode there were dips below 60 but it seemed that the game at least stays above 48 fps which is then totally fine!

Enjoy playing these great games!
I had always my issues with RE but I might give it a try in the future. At least moving and aiming at the same time should be a huge upgrade for me compared to the old versions.

@R1spam important to say: There is no „boost“ with VRR. Framerate is not magically increased with VRR. That’s very important to understand.
What VRR does is that it matches the framerate with the refresh rate of the display constantly, so framerate dips aren’t noticeable or at least way less noticeable than without VRR.

Im not sure with this game. Some of the gameplay outside in the open world has some kind of next gen visuals to it but this video here looks nothing special to me. Colours and environment reminds on the ps3 area. Sure facial animation are better but it doesn’t look very good in any way.

Re: PS4 Games That Need a PS5 Patch

@THEONE19 the shadow of the colossus remake runs with 60 fps and a framerate above 1080p. I think it’s fine and there are games that need a further patch more as shadow of the colossus.

@Olmaz thanks always hard to judge.
From framerate, loading times, enemy account, lightning… and many more.
This huge jump that we have some decades ago in video game visuals are not to expect with this gen but there are still a lot of details that are not longer possible on the last gen consoles.

As much as it hurts for ps4 owners that might struggle to upgrade to a ps5, but it’s time that the cross gen development is going to end soon. The capabilities of the ps4 are far exceeded. A great console with fantastic games and visuals. But after almost 9 years after launch, it’s time.

@Werewius especially the implementation by Insomniac (Rift Apart and Spider-Man games) is soo good. Fidelity modes running pretty fine and smooth while the former 60 fps modes are smooth as butter now
Still hard to decide in which mode to play.
