Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Targets Q2 2022 Release Date

Richnj

There are actually two PS4 versions. One is the standard The Witcher 3 and the other is the complete edition. I'd assume that not just the CE will recieve the upgrade.

So will both get the upgrade to the same PS5 CE, or is the PS5 getting two version as well?

@AV_aka_577_ex-Xbox "It is the most recycled game in the history of modern gaming."

With RE4 existing, I'm not sure that is true.

"We spent lots of money on ONE recycled game. That is the fact."

Right, but you didn't have to buy the game, especially the Anniversary stuff. You could have just stuck with the free SE PS5 upgrade. The fact you keep spending money on this game, apparently with zero self control, is the reason it keeps getting releases. Todd Howard even said "the popularity didn't wane".

Re: Unsurprisingly, the GTA Trilogy Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4

@PhhhCough This is why I laugh when a site puts out a review and you get the line of people going "saved me money".

Take the Pushsquare Alan Wake review. Averaged an 8 on Metacritic, but had a 6 here, and you unironically had people deciding to not buy a game based on one review on the lower end of the scale.

And I really can't comprehend a person who is spending their money based on what a stranger on the Internet is saying. Have more respect for people buying AC, Fifa and COD every year because at least they are excited for the product they are buying.

Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Upgrade Prices Revealed

@johncalmc More or less.

The content you get with the £16 is the creation club content, which is already paid content.

If that's sounds unreasonable, just stick with the SE version and you'll get four DLC packs and the PS5 upgrade for free.

Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Upgrade Prices Revealed

Richnj

@AV_aka_577_ex-Xbox The Special Edition is the only version of Skyrim on the PS4. So you would have bought the PS3 version and the PS4 version. That's it.

The only way you bought more than two copies would be if you bought the PS3 standard version (2011) then the PS3 Legendary Edition (2013, which was expected since Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas all recieved similar editions, plus the extra content was available for the original release) and then the PS4 Special Edition (2016) and/or the PS4 VR version.

"I need to pay again for the same game with a few upgrades"

I actually think that you misunderstand. Because you own the Special Edition, you get the PS5 version, with some DLC, completely free. You don't need to buy the game all over again. It's yours. The only thing you need to do, is pay an extra $20, but only if the completely optional creation club content appeals to you.

And that's the problem, people are acting like this, what is essentially, DLC is forcing them to buy the game again, it's not.

Re: Skyrim Anniversary Edition Upgrade Prices Revealed

I'm amazed by how many people here are really upset they have to pay $50 dollars for Skyrim AE, despite apparently never being interested enough in Skyrim SE that has been out for 5 years and regularly went on sale for $16 or less.

It's almost like you have no interest in the game but saw an opportunity to play fanboys.

Re: Marvel's Avengers Dumps Damaging XP Booster Microtransactions

“We introduced them as an option for an evolving player base, and did not see them as pay-to-win since they don't offer power directly.”

That's kinda worse.

1) "option" never means option. It means "deflect from our attempt at predatory tactics"

2) You're in the business of game design and you didn't understand that boosts were a direct affect on the design of your game? You're either lying or incompetent.

Re: PS Store November Savings Sale Has Over 750 PS5, PS4 Game Deals

@Voltan @DeepSpace5D Returnal only lists PS5 under its game page. Deathloop and Godfall are both listed as PS4 and PS5. Godfall was paid to be PS5 exclusive. Deathloop was paid to be PS5 exclusive.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice the page listing for Deathloop. I've been working under the assumption that the listing isn't an error, it's pending the inevitable PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series launches next year.

Re: The Uncharted Movie Trailer Is Finally Here

@rjejr Claudia Black is about the same age as Fillion though, so I personally would frame the entire story as a flashback/greatest hits adventure. That see's the older cast revisit previous locations, cutting to their CGI younger selves having a massive adventure and then back to their older selves struggling to do the things they use to and just generally having more of a misadventure.

I think the juxtaposition and comedy would fit well in to the wheelhouse of some of these older actors.

Re: This Is What the GTA Trilogy Looks Like on PS5, PS4

Richnj

@chicken_chaser This looks 100 times better than what Sabre did with Halo CE and 2 though.

I've reverted back to classic graphics in the older Halo titles because the artstyle of CE and 2 were mostly obliterated by the remaster. These GTA remasters look to keep the old artstyle (even if some here seem to care more about graphics than artstyle) and that's a huge plus for this project.

Re: Battlefield 2042 Now Supports Dual Entitlement Digitally on PS5, PS4

Richnj

@Divergent95 Oh, and let's not forget Sony earned more than any other company between 2019 and 2020 (pre-price hike) and about four times as much as EA (nearly $20bn vs $5bn).

People like to talk about paying devs, inflation, and game dev costs, but these aren't struggling companies. They could easily absorb the costs, they just don't want to see their profits shrink.

@velio84 "The review is a personal opinion of the person reviewing the game.

So the author just saved me 25 euros and I'll either wait for a sale or to come to PS+."

But why though?. You've arbitrarily decided that this one person's opinion is somehow more valid than everybody elses. More so than people on these forums, more so so the opinions of other reviewers who also get paid to give opinions.

If you considered this review a more objective breakdown of the game, then I'd understand, but the fact you defend the 'it's just an opinion' argument, then take it as fact is what boggles my mind on how the professional reviews are done and used.

At least the people who don't agree with the review because they've experienced the game first hand and have that reasoning behind it (even if it's bias), and their opinion is clearly at odds with the reviewers. Your stance makes no sense because you have no opinion on the game for you to compare against this reviewer's opinion. Yet you've settled on the legitimacy of the reviewer's opinion anyway.

Re: Alan Wake Remastered (PS5) - Compelling Thriller Derailed by Tedious, Repetitive Combat

Richnj

"The repetition in Alan Wake borders on self-parody at times. Practically every chapter begins with you somehow getting separated from everybody, losing all of your equipment, and finding yourself lost in the woods. It just keeps happening"

He's stuck in a twilight-esque story universe that requires these contrived plot points to progress, and Alan keeps writing himself in deeper in an attempt to get out.

I thought that was the whole point of the story.

I'm sure he even tries to cheat the story logic and it backfires on him. Feels cheap to give the game a low score when something integral to the story was missed like that.

Re: Twisted Metal Creator Hurt by Sony Snub Over Rumoured New Game

Richnj

I'm now more concerned about what he knows and who he's potentially protecting.

I'm just saying, either you know nothing and you're just trying blackmail someone for work/money, or you know something really bad that some higher ups have done and you're keeping it secret until it's most beneficial to you.

Both are douche moves.

Re: God of War's Norse Story Won't Be a Trilogy Because the Games Take Too Long to Make

Richnj

Hot take: Every game should be a complete product. Both in terms of story and content.

The idea of a planned trilogy is great, especially when they promise to carry over character progression, like in Mass Effect and Too Human, but this can easily backfire, like in Mass Effect and Too Human.

Normally a trilogy has worn thin or gets ruined by the third entry anyway (Hello Dead Space), and the ones that are actually good usually aren't planned as trilogies and just end that way by chance (Hello Halo). Meanwhile, soft sequels/reboots allow far more freedom in both story telling and gameplay advancement anyway, or at least allow new players to dive in without feeling like they've missed some crucial set up to that experience.
