@NinjaNicky the latest patch should’ve fixed the loadout issue, it’s in the patch notes and worked for me.
You would need to complete an entire operation to unlock the next difficulty, which would be three missions. On completion of the third and final mission it should prompt the next difficulty being available.
@Kidfunkadelic83 If I had a switch it would definitely be the way to go for me. The time-sink on a portable device for a game as addictive as this would be a concern though!
@Ico1977 I'm by no means an expert - only finished the first four decks on base difficulty so far but I've just been having fun with it and as I've unlocked more jokers & vouchers have started to get a better idea of what jokers synergise well. Then just trying to streamline the deck accordingly.
Having recently got the platinum / 100% for Slay the Spire I can easily see this now being my go to "one more try" game for the next 500 hours...I really am enjoying it.
Helldivers 2, having a blast. Matchmaking issues seemed to be better last night and meant for some absolute chaos with 4 of us calling in air strikes all over the place.
It’s lonely and brutally hard solo but very funny with friends. No trolls encountered yet either!
@Grimwood I don’t think I’ve ever heard Destiny’s shooting/gunplay described as being “beyond awful”. For me Destiny is the benchmark in that respect as it just feels so good to play but I wish I didn’t have to deal with a 10 year live service game to experience it!
I have sunk a lot of hours in to MHW and recently picked up rise but haven't touched it since Wild Hearts release. Haven't had to deal with any performance issues in about 20 hours and jumping in to multiplayer is very easy and obviously more fun as a trio.
Definitely starting to notice a little difficulty spike but still really enjoying it.
Don't really get the negative comments re fortnite personally because the building is pretty intuitive and makes for a fresh take on the combat, much more so than the wirebugs from MH Rise in my opinion.
Will be sticking around for end game on this one and we'll see how long the promise of free DLC and support lasts...
@MB81 I’m in the same boat. Reviews didn’t do much to intrigue me but me and a couple of pals have been enjoying DMZ of late and so am thinking of our extraction options…very little on console by the looks of it. Vigor doesn’t look too polished so only Rainbow Six Extraction or Hunt Showdown. Might have to give it a go.
Yet to try Tunic, and as much as I love Cult of the Lamb, Inscryption for me is just so memorable with its surprises that it would have to take top spot.
When I think about how A Ghost of Tsushima movie might be visually, I instantly just think of watching Hero…Which in fact I might just do, stunning film.
Slay the Spire, or “The Card Game” should not be so easily dismissed. It’s as accessible as it is addictive and a game that I have to delete from my console if I want any other game to get my undivided attention for any length of time.
Reducing the quality to 480 or 240 really makes it look like video footage.
I also tried this again but just can’t get into it. Reluctantly dabbling in the crew whilst waiting for hot wheels unleashed, then keep in that to tide me over until GT7.
@nessisonett @teapotbhudda Ha a jungle/hardcore (not happy hardcore may I add!)pack would almost be enough to make me purchase VR and beat saber alone. Now that I think about it, a middle aged man waving his hands around like a madman to some Rufige Kru in the front room might not be appreciated by the rest of the household.
@nessisonett yeah being from Croydon I really can’t handle anybody associating his sound with what I would consider dubstep. Whoever coined brostep for that style earned my respect!
Well worth the money for me. Value is subjective and I’ll get 80 hours out of this no problem. I’ve enjoyed every minute thus far.
It’s frustrating because the vast majority of comments are blanket “I would never pay £70 for a game” or “this is a £40 game”...yet none of these people profess to have actually played the game. Yes it may be a little niche and not to everybody’s taste but that shouldn’t warrant the bashing some of these guys give it.
@Richnj I don’t mean this in a rude way at all but what is your point exactly?
I’m pretty chill re this whole debate and am not particularly invested in it to be honest. I’m one of the guys that will pay the £70 if I want the game and afford it but if won’t if I don’t see the value.
Ultimately I guess cost of living has risen with wages not rising in-line with cost of goods and services right, so to my ignorant/naive brain I just assume that further emphasises my point that this is inescapable? I appreciate that I may sound stupid here but I’m probably too laid back and just expect some increases. My two main interests over the last twenty years have been sneakers and gaming. The boom in the sneaker culture surrounding limited Nike SB back in the mid 2000s to the Jordan hype and Yeezy launches later meant huge success for Nike and Adidas but the price of their products have risen.
I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore but I’m genuinely interested in your explanation. Please do share, and as I said, no sarcasm being thrown your way.
Wow, as much as I tried I couldn’t get through all those comments! It seems there is no article that this price argument cannot be had.
Keeping on topic, I think that second place is great and a success. I purchased digitally and am having a great time, and probably will continue to do so until Ratchet and Clank releases.
Off topic, I’d probably have to lean with @god_of_nowt on this one. To push the analogy further, the price of milk in the uk has doubled since 1990 if we’re looking at percentage increases. We all know the farmers aren’t seeing the majority of the gains there yet you as consumers still shop at the supermarkets I imagine?
I agree that it’s down to us as consumers to determine the price elasticity of demand, but in a luxury market there is far more freedom to influence that, which is in my opinion far less sinister than those operating the same practices with even greater price hikes albeit incrementally in an essential market where the consumer has little choice but to accept it.
People using performance issues to bolster their £70 price argument is so frustrating. Developers will aim to eliminate any performance issues regardless of price right?
If I were to total up crashes and error reports from the lifespan of my PS4 it would probably be in the hundreds and I accept that it happens occasionally. Perhaps I’m the mug for paying £70 and not being mad at the odd bug but I tell you what, it beats spending the day with a chip on my shoulder!
Ratchet and Clank will be £70, GT will be £70, Horizon will be £70, buy it or don’t. And I’m not going to insult Housemarque and suggest that Returnal doesn’t belong at £70 with those games. I’m having a blast.
Back on topic, 8 hours in and I’ve had 2 portal/door bugs. Disgusting, sort it out Housemarque, I’m getting a refund and waiting for it to get added to PS Plus so I can then moan about the Months offerings.
@elvisfan1 hiding games from my library has also been a really welcome addition for me, however, Sony took it upon themselves to hide a large number of my games before I even touched the feature! I wonder if this has happened to anybody else.
Also, would be great to see a “One More Go” list on here. I would never have seen this game if it weren’t for this review and many others like Moonlighter, Forager, Dead Cells, Slay The Spire etc are so great to dip in and out of when you know you don’t have time to get a good session on your main game. With one child and another on the way I’m finding myself playing these more than the big releases in my backlog!
As somebody that is really struggling to get through the ever expanding backlog and still dips in to Slay the Spire, Enter the Gungeon and Hades regularly, this is a purchase I know I shouldn’t but will inevitably make.
I have to admit I was pretty quick to bash this after an hour or so of the demo, but the more I play the more I enjoy it and I’ve found myself going back daily levelling all four characters. I stand by my original thoughts in that I wouldn’t pay £60 for this and that I find everything bar the actual combat/loot system pretty bad, however, I think the points I enjoy will actually result in a purchase, albeit a discounted one later down the line. Initially I didn’t really get the diablo reference when comparing this to other games such as Destiny, The Division, Gears etc but the scope for ability focused builds coupled with quick cool downs is really what’s piqued my interest.
Disappointed based on my initial expectations but a sense of quiet optimism brewing now...
@rjejr agree with @playstation1995, I’ve never finished a souls game but I finished this solo and then went back for more. The multiplayer is really accessible and the community has been great in my experience.
@Voltan Ha true that, I mean I’ll still dip back in and try the other characters to check the abilities and get more familiar with the loot aspect but £60 is a hard sell for sure. Have fun!
@Voltan First impressions are really bad. As a fan of the genre generally speaking I want to give this a chance but it’s tough to ignore the immediate issues. I feel like this was sold as a destiny meets the division mix with ability based skill trees and cover shooting. While this is the case in some respects it feels more like bulletstorm with upgrades. Not that bulletstorm is bad in my opinion but it does feel really dated.
I have to echo other comments regarding how generic it feels as well as performance issues. I couldn’t watch a single cutscene to its end which is out of character for me.
The core gameplay I found pretty fun once I got going but the level design detracts from any enjoyment as every engagement felt the same; transition corridor to generic arena/room with numerous cover points. Enemies rush and spam grenades to force movement - rinse repeat.
Not something I’d pay full price for but I certainly appreciate the fact they had the confidence/integrity to put such a substantial demo out.
Just played through this with a friend tonight, made a nice change to our usual go-to games and will definitely run through it again for the platinum. Not quite sure I’m sold enough to pay for the next instalment though

I’m not sure if it would create more or less frustration but I know that if PS Now was scrapped and replaced with a monthly subscription for PS1, 2 and 3 games comparable to the virtual console of Nintendo I know I would subscribe, at least I’d know that there’d be no crossover. @Gloamin @tsushima I just picked Inscryption up a few days ago with it being on my radar and PS stars giving me nudge to bite the bullet.
