@CutchuSlow Cheers dude, yeah it was mainly my brand! My card was £2k when I bought it, so I wasn't taking any chances But I was interested in trying it, which is why a PS5 release appeals!
@Fiendish-Beaver People always want what they cant have, and that's especially true of all of us that heavily consume. I dont think thats true of the general gaming public though. If those games were desirable to them, then more of them would have bought an Xbox..
If you buy up huge swathes of the development business, then it was obvious to all concerned that the only way to support that is to become a 3rd party publisher.
The idea it could be supported via the Xbox and PC business alone was always a fantasy.
Personally it makes very little difference to me. I have a Series X but I've not switched it on since last September and have far more than I can play on PS5 with the odd Switch exclusive thrown in. I much prefer the hardware, the OS and the eco system on PS, and the wife wont even pick up an Xbox controller, so I choose to consume most of my games here. I'm keeping the series X in case Avowed proves to be what I'd like it to be, and in case I have urge to play an Xbox game before it arrives on PS.
Doesn't matter how it works, MS will make plenty of money going full 3rd party publisher, but I do feel for the die hard xbox guys who must feel a little let down with the broken promises and constant word noodling instead of committing to a well defined future path. I hope they get some great exclusives for a while at least and all on GP. All gamers deserve to feel happy and fulfilled no matter where they game.
Love to see it. Sony has always welcomed more diverse titles and ideas on its platforms, and thats always been one of the attractions to their platforms. I'm particularly liking a lot of what Im seeing from Chinese and Korean devs, which I find very palatable. Whatever you like, it would be weird to not want a variety of choices....

Always happy to see new games and I'm sure I'll be pleased to see many on Friday.
Loved many of the titles I saw at the SOP, will enjoy tomorrow and I'm also looking forward Xbox showcase. Games are fun and I've always been into them for that - not to brag, not have a fake war, and not to moan. I know there are many more of me than the loud mouths who continually shout in the online space.
This looked fantastic at the recent SOP but no one commented (as it didnt fit their negative narrative no doubt!).
It looks inventive , whimsical and utterly engrossing to me, and it's a nice change from all the mindless churn that the masses seem to insist on consuming.
At least it won't cost me anything to try it and see - JUST MY SOUL!
@Shepherd_Tallon Absolutely mate - sony have always relied on 3rd parties like Square and Namco to provide many of their big exclusives. When consoles were launched with Ridge Racer we didnt have 'gloom bots' moaning it didnt open with a Sony logo!
Fake outrage means people will eventually take nobody seriously and 'consumer power' will simply fritter away. Requiring a PSN log-in is exactly the same as all the other publishers who also require a sign up to their service, no different at all. If you don't want to sign up, don't play the games, simple.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I agree with you mate, but Sammy is just writing to his audience who lap this stuff up like its meaningful - which it is to me, but more from a psychology point of view. The issue now is that there is so much media trying to get a story and ruminating on rumours all day that people build unrealistic expectations of what they hope they will see to 'blow them away'. Sony have done their best to stop this by simply not announcing stuff until its pretty close to being deliverable. This was not a show, it was a SOP which was announced less than 48 hours before being shown to try and stop the wild speculation, but with the gaming news sites being what they are, expectations and entitlement soon follow.
For what it was, the SOP last night was OK, at least 4 games there I would want to try. But it's not the big 'blowout' that everyone wants to see to replace E3, and was never going to be. I suspect something like that will be shown at the end of summer to align with the 'pro' launch.
Until then there is a large audience that simply wants to moan, and the site will no doubt give such an audience what they want. I've learnt to take it with a pinch of salt - the views of the Push audience are very far from that of the general gaming public
Looking forward to this, but the demo being PS4 only is a huge turn off? I don't trust that I could import my save data from the PS4 into the PS5 version once bought....
@J2theEzzo Yeah I've watched all the repair videos, but it's not easy to do and involves taking a piece from a working stick to replace the faulty unit. I'm not interested in doing this. Thank you for the suggestion anyway - it's a good suggestion and anyone else with this problem should definitely give it some consideration!
@yohn777 He's only here to hype Game pass and PC releases.
Just see his comments, he's not here for a real conversation, just trying to twist the knife where he can.
@thefourfoldroot1 Two original white ones in the bin due to stick drift - one original white one left (I have 2 PS5's). I have three working, but we often use three when a friend comes over for multiplayer sackboy or something, so I just ordered another this morning as I'm sure one of the three will get further stick drift.
I just don't have controller luck though. I've used my series X way less, but I've 2 of 3 failures on that too. Controllers just dont like me!
All the PS5 accessories seems pretty good to me, though I'm saving some choice expletives for if the controller goes on the Portal. Maybe I'd get that one fixed!
Makes perfect sense to expand the market where you can.
I'd suggest they need to make their controllers a little more robust if possible. I've just ordered yet another (they are reduced in a sale right now), but that makes my 6th Dualsense since this gens start! I'm not buying them for the pretty colours (though they are nice )
Shame it's not a full show, they really should be doing a big show at this point.
State of play is OK, but we're just gonna get a few videos of games with little insight over 30 minutes, so it's almost disappointing regardless of the titles at this point.

@itsfoz Objectively, it's actually cheaper now than it was when the PS4 launched. A new game then was £50 - allowing for inflation that's about £80 in today's money. You can make your own value appraisals of course, but it's cheaper now.
Every time I see gig prices I say "£80 to see a band playing live - that's ridiculous" simply because it was £5 or £10 when I was young. Gamers are getting older, but prices in our head don't change much
Not too bothered for anything on these lists to be honest, but that's the way the cookie crumbles some months and one mans weak month is another mans strong month. At least this will let me catch up on some backlog!
Ive finally called foul on FF rebirth! Having to do the chocobbo gold cup in the saucer to progress the story is the last straw for me, so despite having had over 100 hours in the game, Ive uninstalled the game this morning and wont be back. Shame.
Im going to get into Avatar now and see if I can clear some of my backlog!
Whatever you are playing, have a great weekend - and bank holiday for my uk bros 😊
@Frmknst I'd like you to be correct, really I would. But that characterisation of this style of game is no longer true for the better produced ones.
I've managed to avoid them as I can't afford the time sink when there are so many other great games to play, but their impact on those that try them, and their undoubted quality, are a huge draw for many console players as well as the mobile crowd.
Just ask Sammy, who may edit PushSquare, but has a hard time playing much other than Genshin due to their draw and addictive nature!
I don't think a casual and flippant dismissal of these titles demonstrates a true understanding of the impact these games have, and the quality and effort that now goes into making them...
@ShadowofSparta
Thanks for expanding on your point further.
I'm still not sure how a corporation choosing to sell its goods only in markets where it can support them how it wants to, is anti-consumer in any way at all, but at least you have elaborated on that... and the fiasco with Helldivers makes that view seem less crazy. People simply do not have a right to buy a product no matter where they live, there is nothing anti consumer about not selling products in all territories.
As many others have pointed out, your assertion that Sony has a monopoly on Anime streaming is simply not supported by any facts. The vast majority of anime streams are done on the big streaming services. It does look like you scrambling for reasons to criticize. Criticism is only valid if not based on falsehoods invented to support the criticism.
IMO people are perfectly justified to complain about 'moaners' when they simply invent justifications. You suggesting its simply to defend a corporation is another twisting of reality when you are arguing on invented facts on demonstrably false assumptions. Some people will push back as they wish to have a conversation based on some truths rather than invented hyperbole.
We are not likely to agree on this of course, as few people these days put there hands up and say 'actually, now I've seen the facts I was wrong'.
I do however commend you for for replying to me in a civil way and trying to make me see the reasoning behind your assertions, thank you.
Have a great day, I hope you enjoy your gaming.
@Americansamurai1 I'd agree with you if they were the ones that suggested they were having a showcase. But they didnt, it's just part of the endless rumour mill.
I do agree however that they need to do so now, so I hope they will announce one soon. I think part of the wait has been to get the new heads of business appointed so they can agree what will be shown. As this happened pretty recently, they are now in a state where they should be able to agree this and get a show started. I'd certainly like to see one!
@Shwing Fair enough. I hadn't read any minutes from the corporate strategy meeting, and so was unaware that they were referencing this partnership across many mediums. I suspect that a great many of this sites readers were in exactly this position and so it will be news to them too. I commend you on your diligence to have read those minutes and therefore to have known that anyway, but you must be aware that most people hadn't?
Or are you selectively ignoring news you personally find irrelevant so you can claim there is no news? Either way, I found it interesting and said why. Have a great day
@MeatyVeg Good point, but it's not just the engine that leads to these similarities, it's a lack of vision from the producers and those that green light games that's at fault. You can create some extremely different looking graphics in UE5 as long as you have a decent vision.
Whilst I've always been a fan of those who develop their own engines, in a world where devs and teams are losing their jobs due to titles being so expensive to develop, it makes sense to not reinvent the wheel and to use the toolsets that are already available. Its using them creatively that's the key and not copying the fortnite look or chasing boring 'reality'.
But teams like Insomniac or Guerilla should be applauded for the work they put into their engines - they are clearly a dying breed and should be treasured whilst we still have them.
@ShadowofSparta That message wouldn't be just a waste of hot air if you would care to show some anti-consumerist practices or exploitation? Or did you simply wish to throw those terms around and hope some of it would stick? I personally hope you actually had a relevant point to make and just failed to mention it, as I don't know much about anime and was hoping the comments might be enlightening, rather than the same people spewing the same posts they make whenever they see an opportunity....
Thanks Sammy, I certainly find this very interesting so please ignore those who clearly come to the site to moan at stuff.
It's good for the playstation business as a whole to have a significant stake in the company making the best engine for future titles, and also has one of the largest online games ever with much potential for crossover games and media promotion on said platform. That they can clearly see the potential and have invested in it, is a sign that they haven't lost their knack for investing in future opportunities entirely, even if their head was turned by GAS like many others.
This was a great review and left me wanting to try this just to get that experience. I don't know if I'll like it, but I do want to experience it - thank you. The sub heading was so bizzare I had to read it - clever
@NEStalgia Yeah I'm not going to those lengths mate, I'm using Windows on my PC and my wife just extended our family 365 cover, despite me saying we had alternates! I wish to use them as little as possible, but as you so rightly pointed out, completely extracting myself from their products is too much of a ball ache even for my stubbornness! it was difficult enough to not renew GP, I'd been on it continuously from the start. It will be really strange if they launch some hardware though and I don't buy it - 40 years of buying everything is a hard habit to break. Plus if Avowed is the real deal (which I hope it is for Obsidian's sake) I'll struggle to stay away from that and one of the reasons the series X is still gathering dust behind the switch dock in my house is to play that if it doesn't come to PS5.
If you really want to live life doing no harm you need to live in a yurt on an island you own. I'm only going to make the changes I can make easily, like shelling out for free range and local produce and trying to stay away from GP
@GamingFan4Lyf I get the attraction of a PC hybrid console and its clearly where MS are going. But I simply don't want to give MS any of my money any more, so that will be a battle of will power to stay away. As an Ex dev, who knows many out of work devs looking for work, I already cancelled my GP subscription last September, as I firmly believe that GP is killing studios and has de-valued the worth of new games to the point where much fewer buy them. That was a tough choice as there are many games I'd like to look at on GP, but ultimately I live by my own conscience and could not excuse myself partaking in the very thing I saw as one of the issues. Now we are seeing more of the MS playbook, I want to try and drop them completely and for the first time in over 40 years gaming I'm contemplating a future where I don't own all the consoles . I might feel differently once its a reality, but I'm a stubborn old git and I don't often let myself ignore an issue I feel deeply about, so we'll see. Happy gaming mate, where ever you do it
@GamingFan4Lyf Theres logic in your statement, but as someone who has had a top end PC for the last 30 years, it remains my least favourite way to play games by a long long way. It may be two years old now, but I have a i900k with a 3090 with all the trimmings and have barely loaded a game up on it, despite it having its own 48inch C1 oled as one of its monitors. I can't stand playing games on such a bloated OS with so many variables that means nobody ever gets the same experience. Never mind the heat that GPU's kick out when they are asked to work - its like being back with the PS4 pro only you have to sit much nearer it..... and you always spend time having to download new drivers or optimising settings, by the time your ready to go you;'ve lost the brief 45 minutes you were gonna have a quick go on something. Hate gaming that way. I'll always have one as a fall back on, but consoles need to be well dead and buried before I'd ever choose to play games that way!
@Sil_Am posted like someone who doesn't understand gaming hardware. Portables are extremely restricted by their portability, they cannot have powerful CPU's etc because of this power limitation, and can never compete with a design that does not need to be portable.
I'll be happy to have a switch 2 once its released for the ninty exclusives I want to try, just as I have a switch now. But its lunacy to think it will be as powerful as something like the PS5 or series X, with most knowledgeable estimates equating its power to being comparable with PS4, but having some decent upscaling tech to allow for 4K. That's still extremely exciting for a handheld unit, but it's not gonna compete with the fixed units of series X or PS5.
If you wish to become more enlightened on these design limitations there are some great web resources to help you understand.
@NEStalgia You completely ignore the PS4 market. If SE wish to gimp their game to run on old hardware like the switch, then there's a huge potential PS4 market which would have substantially affected the sales potential of these games (Rebirth and 16) on the sony systems. I thought 16 and rebirth are coming to PC anyway, so that seems like a blind path to chase, in that they will still have access to that lucrative market? (I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong)
@NEStalgia No, no he is not and you are wrong. This conversation was about the statement that there are 'no games'. Not Exclusives, and certainly not 'exclusives that NESaligia might choose to play' just no games. That was the conversation.
The fact he tried to turn it into exclusives is almost as irrelevant as you agreeing with him - there are loads of games, and I also pointed out that even if we were talking exclusives, in the first 5 months PS has more than the other platform too.
If you reserve your machine for exclusives only, that's your look out, you can hardly decry 'there are no games if you choose to consume them all elsewhere. As you said yourself 'there are loads of great games'.
I dont state that Xbox has no games, despite the fact my Xbox has been gathering dust since last september, as there are loads of great games if I choose to play them there - I just don't.
Please read context before replying. #25 & #26
@Kevw2006 If you don't know the guy he will say anything he can to paint Sony in a bad light, no point in trying to reason with him. I guess he can't stand to see the news on Pure where he normally spouts this stuff..
You are right of course, it would be unlikely that many would sign up to PSN for cloud saves only, unless you have multiple consoles in the house like I do! In which case its mandatory Fortunately both myself and my wife would sub to PSN regardless.. or maybe I'd have a beef!
@Arxagelos "or maybe to people who have a playstation only for exclusives and playing their 3d party elsewhere" Three exclusives on PS released this year so far - how many on the 'other' console? Zero. Nice try, doesn't withstand any scrutiny.
There's no question that this is a good performance and one that their competitors must envy. PS5 business has been good and the metrics are going in the right direction, so those people who have invested in this eco-system will be well served and are unlikely to regret their purchase. The narrative that 'there are no games' is absolute nonsense - I've never had a backlog so large and I've gamed as an adult in every single generation since the business started. Such views can only be offered by those who have little experience or have simply grown tired of gaming...
The problem with Square Enix is....well its Square Enix. They can barely make any decisions which don't raise concerns and actively pursue the golden goose at every turn. They might sell a few more titles by pursuing Multi platform, but their biggest base is on playstation and that is likely to shrink without Sony's huge promotional efforts, so the overall gain will be small I think.
Until very recently, they have been actively pursuing NFT's, which tells you everything you need to know about SE's management acumen. SE represents some talented developers and beloved IP's, managed and ran by muppets. Maybe I should apply!
I'd never considered a full Lego horizon game before! I think they could make that work, the typical well observed lego humour could find plenty to work with in the world of Alloy..
This headline is pretty dissapointing, and symtomatic of a continuing desire by push square to try and belittle the achievements of a platform they should be supporting imo.
The 10 day sales of Stella blade are excellent for a game of this type and give PS5 another topselling game in a market where Nintendo has such a huge install base. As for pointing out a new game shifts more units on a platform with such a massive install base advantage - why is that headline news? Please Push, give us the news without false doom?
Gamers are so rediculous now that no one takes their concerns seriously, even when that might be deserved. This is why truly horrible practices like preditory mtx get away with it, nobody takes our over blown moaning seriously any more, as they clearly shouldn't. I guess nobody is brought up with the story 'The boy who called wolf' anymore. Smh
Graphic novel looks great. I know a friend who will love this (he actually beat the game whilst i failed. Again. ..and Again..) Anyone expecting a game announcement outside of a show is living in cuckoo land. Anyone actually angered needs to get a life.

I might try it on PS5 if this is true. It got a reputation for destroying 3090 graphics cards on PC, and as I use a 3090 on my PC, I stayed well away!

Re: Rumour: We'll Finally Get More Details on PS5 Exclusive Concord in the Next Two Weeks
@Americansamurai1
I'd agree with you if they were the ones that suggested they were having a showcase.
Re: Epic Games May Be Sony's Most Important Partner Right Now
@Shwing
Fair enough.
Have a great day
Re: Epic Games May Be Sony's Most Important Partner Right Now
@MeatyVeg
Good point, but it's not just the engine that leads to these similarities, it's a lack of vision from the producers and those that green light games that's at fault.
Re: Sony Sets Sights on Ruling the Anime World
@BeerIsAwesome Thank you - an interesting post with some relevant information.
Re: Sony Sets Sights on Ruling the Anime World
@ShadowofSparta That message wouldn't be just a waste of hot air if you would care to show some anti-consumerist practices or exploitation?
Or did you simply wish to throw those terms around and hope some of it would stick?
I personally hope you actually had a relevant point to make and just failed to mention it, as I don't know much about anime and was hoping the comments might be enlightening, rather than the same people spewing the same posts they make whenever they see an opportunity....
Re: Epic Games May Be Sony's Most Important Partner Right Now
Thanks Sammy, I certainly find this very interesting so please ignore those who clearly come to the site to moan at stuff.
Re: Random: Sony's Vision of Gaming's Future Includes a PS3 Boomerang Pad with a Screen
It will be interesting to see what they kando.
Re: Black Myth: Wukong Still Looks Bananas in New Trailer, Out 20th August on PS5
I'm really looking forward to playing this. It's been on the radar for a long time!
Re: Indika (PS5) - A Bleak, Beautiful, Bewildering Rumination on Faith and Free Will
This was a great review and left me wanting to try this just to get that experience. I don't know if I'll like it, but I do want to experience it - thank you.
The sub heading was so bizzare I had to read it - clever
Re: Sony Shipped 4.5 Million PS5's Last Quarter, Almost Five Times More Than Xbox Series X|S
Re: Sony Shipped 4.5 Million PS5's Last Quarter, Almost Five Times More Than Xbox Series X|S
@GamingFan4Lyf
I get the attraction of a PC hybrid console and its clearly where MS are going.
Happy gaming mate, where ever you do it
Re: Sony Shipped 4.5 Million PS5's Last Quarter, Almost Five Times More Than Xbox Series X|S
Re: Sony Shipped 4.5 Million PS5's Last Quarter, Almost Five Times More Than Xbox Series X|S
Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5
@NEStalgia You completely ignore the PS4 market. If SE wish to gimp their game to run on old hardware like the switch, then there's a huge potential PS4 market which would have substantially affected the sales potential of these games (Rebirth and 16) on the sony systems. I thought 16 and rebirth are coming to PC anyway, so that seems like a blind path to chase, in that they will still have access to that lucrative market? (I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong)
Re: PS5 Sales Reach 59.3 Million as Sony Falls Just Short of Fiscal Year Forecast
Re: Sony Attracting More PSN Users Year-on-Year Despite Quarterly Dip
@Kevw2006 If you don't know the guy he will say anything he can to paint Sony in a bad light, no point in trying to reason with him. I guess he can't stand to see the news on Pure where he normally spouts this stuff..
You are right of course, it would be unlikely that many would sign up to PSN for cloud saves only, unless you have multiple consoles in the house like I do! In which case its mandatory
Fortunately both myself and my wife would sub to PSN regardless.. or maybe I'd have a beef!
Re: PS5 Sales Reach 59.3 Million as Sony Falls Just Short of Fiscal Year Forecast
@Arxagelos
"or maybe to people who have a playstation only for exclusives and playing their 3d party elsewhere"
Three exclusives on PS released this year so far - how many on the 'other' console? Zero.
Nice try, doesn't withstand any scrutiny.
Re: PS5 Sales Reach 59.3 Million as Sony Falls Just Short of Fiscal Year Forecast
Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5
The problem with Square Enix is....well its Square Enix. They can barely make any decisions which don't raise concerns and actively pursue the golden goose at every turn.
They might sell a few more titles by pursuing Multi platform, but their biggest base is on playstation and that is likely to shrink without Sony's huge promotional efforts, so the overall gain will be small I think.
Until very recently, they have been actively pursuing NFT's, which tells you everything you need to know about SE's management acumen.
SE represents some talented developers and beloved IP's, managed and ran by muppets. Maybe I should apply!
Re: Rumour: Is LEGO Horizon Aloy's Next Big PS5 Adventure?
I'd never considered a full Lego horizon game before!
I think they could make that work, the typical well observed lego humour could find plenty to work with in the world of Alloy..
Re: Japan Sales Charts: Stellar Blade Has a Slightly Disappointing PS5 Debut, Eiyuden Chronicle Sells Best on Switch
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 528
Still working on finishing ff rebirth, ive hit 100 hours, so must be close!
Im tempted to play some ghostwire tokyo in a pointless show of solidarity with the devs. RIP.
Whatever you are playing, have a great weekend 😊
Re: Helldivers 2 PC Is Getting Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement
Gamers are so rediculous now that no one takes their concerns seriously, even when that might be deserved.
This is why truly horrible practices like preditory mtx get away with it, nobody takes our over blown moaning seriously any more, as they clearly shouldn't.
I guess nobody is brought up with the story 'The boy who called wolf' anymore.
Smh
Re: Returnal Artbook and Graphic Novel Mark PS5 Game's Third Anniversary
Graphic novel looks great. I know a friend who will love this (he actually beat the game whilst i failed. Again. ..and Again..)
Anyone expecting a game announcement outside of a show is living in cuckoo land.
Anyone actually angered needs to get a life.
