Thank god this trailer sells it better. Im kinda rooting for bioware as I fear what EA will do with them if this doesnt do well. So much to play, but I want to make time for this one in the hope bioware haven't forgot how to craft a good story with compelling characters...
Not a rogue like fan normally, but Returnal!
So good I played 90 hours and never got passed level 3 boss. Thats stupid old man reactions, but the fact I spent so long attempting to get further, tells you how much I enjoyed trying!
@Ainu20 Agree mate, the 'time played' should definately be indicated next to a review 😊 Your right of course in that no set time will ever work for 100% of titles. I picked 10% of playtime thinking that would work for the majority...
@Ainu20 15 minutes would not even get you to the game in many titles, so as a time, thats simply not achieving what we all want - posts by people who have actually played the game.
To allow for short games, maybe the time should be set at 10% of the expected completion time, which publishers will need to provide with the titles submission? A 50 hour title will therefore rightly require 5 hours or more, but a little 2 hour title might only need 12 minutes or so. This seems fair to me. What do you think?
Seeing as how play time is already monitored, they could easilly reserve reviews to those that have genuinely put some hours in.
As long as they do the above, Im all for it. Some people will always be idiots, but the majority tend to want to be helpful and leave their genuine experiences, and that can only be helpful for anyone navigating that huge minefield of titles..
I don't think this piece makes any kind of sense. Its selling very well and reducing prices simply means pressure elsewhere to raise them. You cut prices if you can't sell or you find ways of reducing production costs.
I'm gonna have to Stop reading Push - its dangerous for my wallet. This is another title I feel almost obliged to play, I love quirky british humour and feel compelled to give this a try! Thanks for the review Stephen...
This looks really well put together and definately a game I'd like to play - good trailer. My poor wallet - there is no escape from the constant influx of games I want to try!
@Enuo Thanks for that info, really appreciated. I'm up for challenges, but I'm getting older and you can't help reactions slowing I'm even more looking forward to this now!
I'm hoping this is more forgiving than many souls likes, but it looks good and I've been much more interested since the trailer in the last SOP. Hoping this fulfils its potential and we have another great game to enjoy....
Looks interesting, particularly if you can tune the game so its open to those of oldies who no longer have the reaction time of a fly! Will keep an eye open for this nearer release..
I don't really have a horse in this race as I absolutely hate this style of game and wont play any of them. But reading the constant conspiracies and shouts of 'unfair' every time a reviewer has an opinion here is pretty disappointing and says a lot about the kind of people this site has attracted to its comments sections.
Fantastic! I really want to play this, a demo might move it up the list a bit. I hated the way everyone wrote this off and few seemed to give it much of a chance - but that seems to just be the way gaming has gone. I'm hoping VRR will help smooth the experience
Thanks for this review Stephen, it's clearly painting a picture for me of a game I'm sure we will enjoy in this household! There is such a wealth of amazing games being released all the time that I rely on reviews such as this one to ensure I don't miss these gems
Just my opinion, but these deals are rubbish. Amazon regularly sell these items for lower - they were selling ps5 controllers for under £50 quite recently for example (i picked up a blue one).
As for their 'fire series' of products, they are almost always at half price.....
Its clear to me that this is just a stunt to try and get more people to sign up. I'm on prime anyway and see prices far lower than this every day.
Saw 'Raiden' and I cheered. Saw 'Twin Stick' and I booed.
The original Raiden games are all excellent examples of good shoot em ups - no mind melding 'bullet hell' nonsense, just good well crafted examples of their genre. Whilst this Raiden inspired game may end up having charms of its own, it's not Raiden to me, or I suspect to anyone who has enjoyed the series in the past.
I specifically quit GP last september as in my opinion, it damaged gaming, devalued full price games and was partially to blame for so many studios and devs getting laid off. Sony's approach was always the better thought out one that was actually sustainable in the long term... it was clear to see by anyone who was not being blinded by greed.
Good list, I think these are good additions. Just as well as I thought the PS plus freebies this month were awful, so this is balanced and I'm happier with this selection now we can see the total offering for this month.. Shame I bought Crisis Core last month, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles! If you are a FF fan, just dive in, its great.
Jean D'arc was great on the PSP, and so was Ratchet. Happy to be in premium..
Very cool for me - I'm in. I'm not the biggest fan of bullet hell designs, preferring the older style of play, but I've had some fun with bullet hells too! Agree with Kidfunkadelic83 - the skyforce games are excellent and the 'Rogue like' elements of it keep you interested in coming back for more - highly recommended..
What a shame. This game now has a bad rep and I can't see many, including me, dishing out full price for it. It's a shame as I enjoyed the last one, but quite frankly, the changes made are not that revolutionary and given the issues, I'll choose to stick with the old game, or simply not bother.
What an interesting combo. Lots of stuff I like separately, but all mixed together. I guess I'll need to read a review or two before I commit, but I'm intrigued!
I loved my time with Rebirth, even if I uninstalled it in a huff once I had to win the chocoboo gold cup....
It was an easy pick as Ive not played the most likely other contenders like Steller Blade yet - waiting for a sale price 👍
Infinate wealth is another contender, and its on sale right now, so its time to add it to the backlog.
Its really been a fantastic year already imo.
This is exactly what you should expect. Hats off to Sony for at least not over monetising their multiplayer games - in contrast with almost every other publisher. No idea if this will be worth playing, but some people I trust who have played it now are stating the gameplay is really good, so I hope some people like it.
@BeerIsAwesome Thats OK mate, I kinda thought it was justified I should recalibrate my world view a bit in light of all the decades that have passed since I was young and developed my views of the world! its clear the sport is nowhere near as 'niche' as I had thought, and I can see from the comments that many people fancy giving it a try, so I guess its not such an awful title to add, even if it doesn't appeal to me.
@TrickyDicky99 'Defending sony,' lol! I've generally found the games on PS plus to be reasonable and stated so. I think they are getting worse and think this is the worst of the months - and again I've stated so. Only fools think that gaming is some kind of war where people are on the attack or defense and Sony certainly don't need any defence from me or anyone else. I comment on what I see, what I like, and what I don't. I'm not so deluded as to think my opinion matters in any way and it certainly won't shape what Sony does. If I don't like it I can either wait for a better month or cancel my sub, but my reaction will not shape anyone else's opinion and nor should it. We are discussing a hobby, not on the front line..
@BeerIsAwesome That's the one! Showing my age, as when I was young only north america played it, but as you've clearly indicated, thats no longer the case. Still think its of niche appeal for a world wide service 😊
I normally defend Sony, but they are not even trying any more. Among us is is a £3 game. Borderlands 3 has already been on PS plus extra and could be bought for £9. Can't stand american sports of any flavour and hockey is the worst. Including a game of such niche appeal is sticking 2 fingers up at the 80% of us who would never go near it.
Where is the increase in quality that they used to justify the price rises? Truly awful.... maybe the moaners have it right and I've had blinkers on?
You only buy exclusivity as a marketing point to push your platform. With no Sony marketing of the game and it not even showing up in their SOP, that's very clearly not the case.
That fervent Xbots wish to blame Sony for everything should hardly be a surprise right now, anything to deflect from the fact it's their own team giving the brand the biggest kicking.
I havent played a game like it for over a decade, but I took a look at Anno 1800 a few days back and Ive have late nights since! Ive also got the latest WRC game (codemasters/EA) cheap in a sale, and Im really enjoying it - so much content!
The deals have been great this year.
Just picked up wrc by codemasters for £20. Its less than 8 months old and is a very high recommendation if you like rally driving!
At the other end of the driving scale, Ive also picked up 'Taxi - city life'. Driving carefully around Barcelona is so relaxing..
Its worth remembering to buy your psn credit cheaply too. Best deal atm seems to be £50 credit for £42. An extra 16% discount for a few taps of a keyboard or tablet shouldnt be ignored..
Great collection of titles right there. Between all the shows there are far more games Id like to play than I can digest, even if I discount the huge backlog. Its a fantastic time to be a gamer imo! 😀
Despite the usual vitriol from the gloombots, there are a lot of great games to look forward to and few are undated concepts...these will be with us soon (ish).
