I caught an advert on YouTube the other day, the very English voiceover was extolling the wondrous features of the “Samsung Zee-4”. I’m presuming this was most definitely supposed to be pronounced “Zed”.
I’ve also noticed the adoption of the American pronunciation of Beta by a number of gaming journalists.
I genuinely can’t fathom this adoption of Americanisms in the UK. I sincerely hope it does not become more prevalent. There is no practical reason for any of it.
Walking simulator is such a ridiculous misnomer. Arguably Death Stranding is a walking simulator. How did strong narrative experiences with minimal interaction ever become classed as walking simulators? Can this silly term be wiped from existence please?
Skull & Bones - that’s the game about the things with the things in it isn’t it? Will that ever see the light of day? It’s had a protracted gestation period, were any reasons given for the delay?
If I were to purchase, for example, the Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC, would this effectively upgrade the game, i.e., would it appear as the Royal Edition on my system, or would I have to specifically purchase that edition for it to appear as such?
The screenshot in the article IS the game. Somewhere, hiding in that image is an actual playable game of some description.
A Curiosity: The Cube type game that players have to somehow program themselves by uploading the image into an engine of some description?
A magic eye ouroboros perhaps? An endless loop of hoax-laden optical illusions, leading the player down a wondrous path of deception and undelivered promises?
This image may be all we ever get. Enjoy it. Use it to its fullest.
I am a long-time fan of BF4. I have played BF1 to some degree, but next to nothing of BFV, which is more down to time constraints than lack of interest. I cannot commit to any “live-service” game nowadays, so BF4, being as it pre-dates the micro-transaction market, still holds favour.
Hearing about all the cosmetics introduced in BF2042 immediately puts me off the game. It sounds too similar to the COD model of recent years, as well as Fortnite’s similar cosmetics obsession. BF has always maintained a form of realism, yet now it appears to be pandering to what is popular and eschewing what it was that made it stand out in the first place.
Bot-filled expansive maps also sound like a mistake - what does it matter if the maps are “full” and give an impression of intensity and all-out-war, if the AI is lacking? It’s multiplayer for a reason and should remain purely so. If the maps aren’t conducive to having a larger player count, then redesign the maps. This worked for the PS3 versions, with its 32-player limit.
Perhaps one way to save this game would be to bring more of the old maps back. Maybe even a combined remaster of BF3&4 or Bad Company 1&2.
Shadow of Mordor is like a different game on PS3. Visually speaking, there is so much lacking. I definitely agree that it should never have been released on older platforms.
I understand that the disc is required to play, but presumably it is also required to purchase? I was wondering if it’s possible to make the purchase without a disc present in the machine for verification.
Not such a big deal really - I’ve long used wallet top-ups for store purchases. Given they can be had for a discount from a number of retailers, it makes sense to make a saving if possible.
Change for changes sake. There is no discussion here, it’s abysmal. From an instantly recognisable logo to something completely bland and instantly forgettable.
Is this supposed to be echoing a trend for minimal design? What’s wrong with the old one.
“Why do always have to keep mucking about with things?”.
It’s the lighting model that give some games that true-to-life quality. Textures are already photorealistic - photogrammetry pushes graphics further towards reflecting the “real”. It’s how these textures are lit that convinces us to whether they look real or not.

No no no, don’t worry, it’s like the N64 all over again. There will be a free game incoming to compensate you for your loss, it’s assured.

What I’ve played of the PS3 game is actually rather decent for a movie tie-in.

Sigh.

Re: Swashbuckling Pirate Sim Skull & Bones Is 'Not a Narrative-Driven Game'
Why waste money by employing writers?
Why bother having any form of immersion in the form of a narrative?
Live service multiplayer that will be switched off in a couple of years time. Easier.

It is indeed a superb experience.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Free Forgotten Saga DLC Sounds Seriously Impressive
Valhalla was released November 10th 2020. It’s less than two years old, a little over a year and a half.
Excuse the pedantry.

Brewdog don’t seem to be actively targeting any other brands though, unless I’ve missed some advertising campaigns?
dbrand seem to be instigating a mini-war with Sony over what appears to be copyright infringement.
Re: 'Checkmate, Lawyers' - dbrand Returns with Newly Designed PS5 Faceplates
@thefourfoldroot
I completely agree. They could this without the “checkmate, lawyers” angle.
This attitude, whether serious or in jest (or a bit of both) would absolutely put me off purchasing from this company.
It’s a piece of plastic, it’s not revolutionary.
