That's pretty good. Alan Wake has been on my wishlist for a while (and I've only not bought it because I lacked time to play it) and I've always enjoyed CoD campaigns but I don't play them enough to justify a purchase.
7 Remake's sales was 3.5m in 3 days (although I'd argue the number of days has lower significance) so I guess 3m is pretty good too I'm sure it's below SE's expectations though
@atthegates That's a full year on the service - not sure if that qualifies as "already" Either way, everyone should check it out while they have the chance.
@Fiendish-Beaver War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybrertron were both very good. Rise of the Dark Spark which attempted to tie the same formula to the movies - not so much.
@Shepherd_Tallon I'm doing the same thing although it's still in another country and probably won't arrive before Thursday (although I suppose it's still possible that it will be here tomorrow).
That said, I just landed a very exciting gig with a very short deadline so I won't be playing it much either!
@CKFilms I think it simply helps create a stronger impression that Xbox is where you’d be playing these (although in this case it was kinda invalidated by the leaks). Also apparently multiplatform games in a platform showcase don’t count so the impression is better if you can’t immediately confirm it
@Darude84 I imagine the combat evolves as the game goes on (I haven't tried the "eikonic challenge" that's available after finishing the demo yet) but in this early section it's very much closer to an RPG than a pure action game. It does reward a well timed use of the dodge button though.
I imagine the digital-to-physical ratio is higher than usual for fighting games. I know I'd only get one digital, whereas I get most single player games on discs.
@NEStalgia I haven't played BS yet either but the main difference seems to be that rather than hitting the notes directly with your hands, you wield virtual blades which means more work for your wrists but less arm swinging. This also seems to allow for higher note density on the maps. Other than that, the music library seems way more varied (although I will say I don't mind Synth Riders' focus on synthwave and adjacent genres as the selection is simply very good)
The Twitter drama this started is extremely funny to me Fighting games need a wire connection to be played at high level where literally a single frame might decide the outcome of a match. Now, obviously not everyone is interested in playing at that level and not everyone can use a wired connection for various reasons. Now some of them apparently feel attacked and discriminated against by this addition as if they won’t be able to play it - someone even apparently cancelled their pre-order. Guess what - this game is going to be extremely popular and most people won’t care about this at all. You will get dodged by some but you will still have no problems finding games.
(I realize this is just a small loud minority but it’s still amusing)
@rachetmarvel I guess they do both. Down the line there will most likely be a complete edition with all the DLC, cheaper than getting the game and season pass(es) now. But that's pretty much all games, isn't it.
I definitely liked the look of this. It seemed liked it was maybe based on repeating the same level until you find an optimal route that lets you finish it in time? That was my impression anyway (and I think I like the idea).
@SilenceCZ @BeardtasticYogi Now it's showing up but can only be wishlisted despite saying it released in 2018, lol I guess I'll just get it tomorrow when they sort it out
My initial impression was that I expected more big things from Sony. That said, just based on this, I'll have enough exciting games to play for the rest of the year so it can't have been that bad! Biggest surprise was Ghostrunner 2, loved the first one. PSVR 2 games are starting to look really good too. Also, brb, downloading Beat Saber.
@Danloaded I haven't played it but I'd probably get it at that price. It seems like an ok game at least, combat in the demo could be made fun if you wanted to, and I hear they fixed some of the problems with visuals and performance since launch.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2023 Leaked Early

Re: PS5 Exclusive Final Fantasy 16 Hits a Slightly Skewed 3 Million Sales at Launch

Either way, everyone should check it out while they have the chance.
Re: You Can Listen to Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Heroic Main Theme on Spotify Right Now
Unsurprisingly, this is very good
Re: Sony Spends a Fortune Getting an Assortment of Sports Stars to Explain Final Fantasy 16
Yeah I've definitely never heard of any of them but they seem like a nice bunch
Re: Call of Duty: Warzone Shutting Down on 21st September Across PS5, PS4
I didn't even know you could still play the old one, ngl
Re: Transformers: EarthSpark Expedition Makes Bumblebee the Star on PS5, PS4
@Fiendish-Beaver War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybrertron were both very good.
Rise of the Dark Spark which attempted to tie the same formula to the movies - not so much.
Re: Square Enix Devs Pester Director Yoshinori Kitase About Remaking Final Fantasy 6 Constantly
I'd definitely play one of those HD-2D versions of this!

I probably won’t play it but I love the idea and aesthetic lol
Re: Final Fantasy 16 (PS5) - Final Fantasy's Triumphant Return to the Top
My CE is confirmed to arrive tomorrow
Looking forward to spending about 30 minutes with it while I'm still busy with some projects
Re: Promising FPS Immortals of Aveum Delayed to August
@Triumph741 Not saying I've seen anything myself but many of these upcoming games had closed doors demos during Summer Game Fest
Re: Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Pre-Load Available Now
@Shepherd_Tallon I'm doing the same thing although it's still in another country and probably won't arrive before Thursday (although I suppose it's still possible that it will be here tomorrow).
That said, I just landed a very exciting gig with a very short deadline so I won't be playing it much either!
Re: God of War Ragnarok Sales Are Increasing in the UK
That's... interesting. Probably connected to new console sales? Which, maybe, could be connected to the FF release?
Re: Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Pre-Load Available Now
@Kidfunkadelic83 the interwebs seem to believe it's tomorrow
Re: Where to Pre-Order Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Collector's and Deluxe Editions on PS5
I might need some kind of therapy but I just pre-ordered this
Re: Synapse Looks Like a Superb PSVR2 Roguelite
I thought this was the most fun looking VR game in the showcase. Not sure about getting it day 1 but I’m definitely interested.
Re: Last Call for Mortal Kombat 1 Stress Testers on PS5
I signed up but I haven't been selected for any closed beta ever so I'm not keeping my hopes up
Re: 27 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Confirmed for Big June Update
This just got even better. I’m definitely adding Talos Principle to my list.
Re: Only Eight PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Confirmed for June Update
Some of these were on my wishlist so I'm happy
Re: Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Tactica Finally Confirmed for PS5, PS4 After Xbox Embargo Lifts
@BeerIsAwesome That's my point. The announcement embargo prevents Sony from doing the same thing (not that I think they would).
Re: Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Tactica Finally Confirmed for PS5, PS4 After Xbox Embargo Lifts
@CKFilms I think it simply helps create a stronger impression that Xbox is where you’d be playing these (although in this case it was kinda invalidated by the leaks).

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

It does reward a well timed use of the dodge button though.
Re: PS5 Title Pragmata Finally Reappears Only to Confirm an Indefinite Delay
Welp, at least now we have an idea what the game is (and it looks pretty good). Too bad it's not coming anytime soon.
Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?
Looking forward to playing it later tonight.
@BusyOlf it's 18.6 gb
Re: Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Priced at £25 / $30 on PS5
Interestingly, in Poland the price is lower (99 PLN, which is about 23€) on all platforms... except PlayStation.
Edit: apparently it was an error that has now been fixed and the 99 PLN regional price now includes the PS Store.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Diablo 4?
I have played Diablo 1 and 2 enough to know it’s not for me. My brother probably spent several millions of hours on it though.
Re: The Next Capcom Showcase Airs Next Week
I do wonder if Pragmata is even still a thing
Re: Random: Thought PSVR2 Was Expensive? Apple's Vision Pro Is Here to Hold Your Beer
Welp, it looks cool but for now this is simply not a consumer device.
@The_ghostmen
They even specifically mention DualSense and DS Edge support on the web page. No other controllers are mentioned.
Re: Odd Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Quotes Continue, Don't Need to Play the First Remake
So it has a story recap before you start
Re: UK Sales Charts: Street Fighter 6 Tackles the Top 10, But Can't KO Zelda
I imagine the digital-to-physical ratio is higher than usual for fighting games. I know I'd only get one digital, whereas I get most single player games on discs.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Street Fighter 6?
I'd get it if I wasn't so invested in Guilty Gear, which I simply enjoy more. I'll probably still get it down the line, game looks good.
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Dev Progressing Smoothly, Release Date Being Nailed Down
@Uncharted2007 Probably early '24, yeah. I believe that's what most people assumed from the original announcement anyway.
Re: PS Plus Subscriptions Discounted by 25% for a Limited Time
@Gaia093 yeah, I think there was usually a Black Friday deal, so I think I'll hold off as well
Re: Samurai Shodown's Netcode Update Skips Spring, Now Set for Late Summer
Not too surprising. The 1st rollback beta didn't go very well from what I've seen.

Re: Mini Review: Beat Saber (PSVR2) - A Serviceable Port of One of VR's Best Games
@Zeke68 I'm pretty sure that's a 7 because of that, not despite it. The PC version has a 93 metascore.
Re: Mini Review: Beat Saber (PSVR2) - A Serviceable Port of One of VR's Best Games
I'm definitely getting this but I'll probably wait for a patch
Re: Here's How to Play Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5 Early
@Toilet_Goat A true Scorpion main, I see

But that's pretty much all games, isn't it.
Re: Here's Exactly What Newly Revealed PS5, PC Game Concord Is
I liked the aesthetic, I probably won't play it unless it's PS+ though
Re: Crossfire: Sierra Squad on PSVR2 Looks Seriously Impressive in Action-Heavy Trailer
After somewhat lacking in shooters at launch, now it almost feels like there are too many
Re: Ghostrunner 2 Resurfaces with Sleek PS5 Gameplay Trailer
This was my favorite new reveal of the showcase Loved the first one (it was also the last game I played on PS4)
Re: Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean Brings the Fangtastic Action RPG Series Back to PS5, PS4
I liked the 1st one as a mobile game. I should probably play the sequel too.
Re: PSVR2 Shooter Synapse Looks Stylish in New Gameplay Trailer, Launches 4th July
I definitely liked the look of this. It seemed liked it was maybe based on repeating the same level until you find an optimal route that lets you finish it in time? That was my impression anyway (and I think I like the idea).
Re: The Talos Principle 2 Brings More Quality Puzzles to PS5 This Year
This was one of the best trailers tonight.
I guess I need to play the first one.
Re: Surprise! Beat Saber Is Available for PSVR2 Right Now, Free Upgrade for PSVR Players
@SilenceCZ @BeardtasticYogi Now it's showing up but can only be wishlisted despite saying it released in 2018, lol
I guess I'll just get it tomorrow when they sort it out
Re: Surprise! Beat Saber Is Available for PSVR2 Right Now, Free Upgrade for PSVR Players
Except it's not. Can't find it in the store yet.
Or maybe it's just the store bugging because it should at least find the PS4 version...
Re: Poll: Was This Sony's Best PlayStation Showcase Yet?
My initial impression was that I expected more big things from Sony. That said, just based on this, I'll have enough exciting games to play for the rest of the year so it can't have been that bad!
Biggest surprise was Ghostrunner 2, loved the first one.
PSVR 2 games are starting to look really good too.
Also, brb, downloading Beat Saber.
