Re: What Time Is PlayStation's State of Play?

MK1 will be out in early access by the time this airs and it already had a launch trailer and a Kombat Kast stream this week, so I doubt it's a part of this.
FF7 Rebirth sounds like a good bet.
Stellar Blade is technically not 3rd party or indie but I guess "a focus" doesn't necessarily mean it's exclusively about those, so I am hoping for an update on that.

@ShogunRok Thanks! It was a super fun project.
Seriously though - The finals AND all of day 2 for Strive was super hype.
I'm yet to watch the SF6 finals because I couldn't stay away unfortunately but having the Capcom band play player intros live on stage was a nice touch!

Also, before SF6 finals, Rick teased EVO coming to "somewhere new" besides USA and Japan in 2024 and I gotta assume that means Europe. If that happens, I'm 100% going!

@KaijuKaiser @ShogunRok The big issues earlier this year definitely killed some of its momentum and SF6's launch didn't help either but it's already starting to come back a little.
I guess EVO hype might be part of it, summer vacation another part (a lot of GG players are young people) but the competitive scene is doing visibly better now than it did 3-6 months ago, some players that left to play SF6 are already back, and the beginning of Season 3 will definitely bring a lot more back, even if just for a while. It's still the 2nd biggest game at EVO and other North American tournaments (Europe's always been more about Tekken). It's doing fine.
That said, GG has never been remotely as big as SF, Tekken or Mortal Kombat so with new ones coming out for each of those, it's quite understandable that you hear about them way more.

Re: Preview: Tekken 8's Hyper Aggressive Gameplay Has Glorious Potential

@ShogunRok I had a few matches that would literally pause for half a second every few seconds and not all of them were wifi players.
My other complaint is that it would often add delay frames while rollback frames remained at 0-1 despite being set to favor responsiveness. I'd very much rather have 4f of rollback than 2f of delay.
Very solid for most matches though.

Unfortunately I was out of town for most of the weekend but I still got to play the CNT (not a great acronym, is it) for a few hours and while I admittedly suck at Tekken (for now anyway), I had a lot of fun. I'll definitely play more this week when it returns with crossplay.
The game probably needs some rebalancing and the netcode was a little bit inconsistent (but mostly good) but hey, it's exactly what the test is for. Looks like it's potentially headed for a very successful launch, whenever that might be.
