No way to check right now but it's probably Guilty Gear Strive twice (PS5 and PS4, which I used before they fixed input latency on PS5) and MK11 GGST being about 1200-1300h total
MK1 will be out in early access by the time this airs and it already had a launch trailer and a Kombat Kast stream this week, so I doubt it's a part of this. FF7 Rebirth sounds like a good bet. Stellar Blade is technically not 3rd party or indie but I guess "a focus" doesn't necessarily mean it's exclusively about those, so I am hoping for an update on that.
@Matroska Schwarzenegger wasn't in it. Appearance was similar but I don't believe he was actually scanned for the game and the voice actor was just someone doing an impression. Stallone though - yeah, he voiced Rambo. MK1 DLC also has JK Simmons doing Omni Man.
I think I'll hold off on buying another year before the price bump and get it on some kind of sale again instead. There's usually one for Black Friday.
I believe I saw the Remedy community director mention a demo too? Not sure if that's something available for download or maybe just playable at Gamescom or even for the press only, though.
@ShogunRok Thanks! It was a super fun project. Seriously though - The finals AND all of day 2 for Strive was super hype. I'm yet to watch the SF6 finals because I couldn't stay away unfortunately but having the Capcom band play player intros live on stage was a nice touch!
Also, before SF6 finals, Rick teased EVO coming to "somewhere new" besides USA and Japan in 2024 and I gotta assume that means Europe. If that happens, I'm 100% going!
I like the look of this! Seems like character models are similar to KOF XV but the shading and vfx look better! Also, I played A TON of Garou back in the day, it was great.
@KaijuKaiser @ShogunRok The big issues earlier this year definitely killed some of its momentum and SF6's launch didn't help either but it's already starting to come back a little. I guess EVO hype might be part of it, summer vacation another part (a lot of GG players are young people) but the competitive scene is doing visibly better now than it did 3-6 months ago, some players that left to play SF6 are already back, and the beginning of Season 3 will definitely bring a lot more back, even if just for a while. It's still the 2nd biggest game at EVO and other North American tournaments (Europe's always been more about Tekken). It's doing fine. That said, GG has never been remotely as big as SF, Tekken or Mortal Kombat so with new ones coming out for each of those, it's quite understandable that you hear about them way more.
I loved FF6 even if I never finished it (I should probably get the remaster on my phone and finally do it). I wonder how well a character like Ultros would translate to modern presentation though
@Vega37 I mean - I know this specifically about Poland, where subbing to Peacock is not even an option. No idea if it’s also true for other places. The regional licensing for TV can be weird sometimes
@riceNpea Technically correct (the best kind of correct) but it seems safe to assume that retailers ordering large amounts from Sony means retailers selling similarly large amounts to customers.
@HotGoomba Nah, I’m already seeing parts of Twitter (sorry - X!) saying Insomniac and DF are both lying now Backed by footage of the game running ok-ish on a machine with a hdd (that just happens to have 4x, maybe 8x the amount of RAM the PS4 had)
@ShogunRok I had a few matches that would literally pause for half a second every few seconds and not all of them were wifi players. My other complaint is that it would often add delay frames while rollback frames remained at 0-1 despite being set to favor responsiveness. I'd very much rather have 4f of rollback than 2f of delay. Very solid for most matches though.
@ShogunRok @somnambulance Thing is, this year's Tekken World Tour has already started and it's a series of Tekken 7 tournaments so it's unlikely that Tekken 8 releases before it concludes. There is no date for the finals yet but the 2022 tour ended in early February this year.
Unfortunately I was out of town for most of the weekend but I still got to play the CNT (not a great acronym, is it) for a few hours and while I admittedly suck at Tekken (for now anyway), I had a lot of fun. I'll definitely play more this week when it returns with crossplay. The game probably needs some rebalancing and the netcode was a little bit inconsistent (but mostly good) but hey, it's exactly what the test is for. Looks like it's potentially headed for a very successful launch, whenever that might be.
I liked this game a lot and (after several weeks of waiting on patch that fixed my progression blocker) I got the platinum trophy for it but what it needs is performance improvements.

You should all play Ghostrunner and thank me later

Re: Alan Wake 2 Is Over 20 Hours Long as Remedy Makes Its Biggest Game Yet
@Powerplay94 that makes sense, I did most things in the base game (and I should go back and play the DLC)
Re: Alan Wake 2 Is Over 20 Hours Long as Remedy Makes Its Biggest Game Yet
Wait, was Control under 20h? I thought it was pretty big
Re: Rumour: Six PS Plus Extra Games Leaked Ahead of September Announcement

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 Update Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes
I'm long done with the game but I'm curious to see if this one actually makes the performance decent, as that was definitely the its biggest flaw.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 (PS5) - One of the Greatest RPGs of Our Time
@LifeGirl this one is basically a D&D campaign (apparently a good one at that)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 492
Sea of Stars, it’s really good. Really loving the level design in this one.

Guess I should play Chicory next, then.

@Quintumply @PSfan4Life22 oh, that's actually awesome

Does this have crossplay? I suspect not but it would be nice.

Casting a biased vote because I worked on the GGST finals intro

Re: Evo 2023 Schedule: All Start Times and Where to Watch
@z0d15g0d These are just the main stage games. There's 18 others in the community tournaments and a BYOC event for several more on top of that.
Anyway... who's watching? 👀
Re: PS5's Pro Controller, the DualSense Edge, Is the Best-Selling Accessory in the US
I imagine upcoming EVO had a thing or two to do with that

I'm keeping the beep. I understand others might have valid reasons to mute it though.
Re: Official PlayStation Earbuds Will Boast Noise Cancelling, USB Dongle for Lossless PS5, PS4 Audio
@MFTWrecks I think it's just implying you can use them with a console (which doesn't support bluetooth headphones without a dongle)
Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Is Being Ported Backwards to Decade-Old PS4
@UltimateOtaku91 The contrary, apparently. It sold very well and they're looking to sell even more.

@Melee_Ace Good point. There’s the rumored FF9 remake too. Looking forward to playing this in my 60s.

Peacock is not available here but it's supposed to launch on HBO MAX in early September so that's when I'll check it out.
Re: Rumour: Tekken 8 Leak Confirms More Returning Characters
@KAIRU Hard to imagine Tekken without him
Re: TV Show Review: Twisted Metal - Car Crash Entertainment
Peacock isn't available in my country but it's apparently coming to HBO Max here - not until September though
Re: Where to Pre-Order Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Console and DualSense Controller
I might get the DualSense if they don't sell out in the next few weeks. I don't exactly need a 5th one but oh well

I did not expect this but I actually liked this trailer a lot. Not gonna sub to Peacock for it but I'll watch it eventually
