I'm finishing off Final Fantasy VII Remake before jumping back into Red Dead Redemption and TLOU2

I've literally just booted it up and yeah it looks the same as when I played the PS4 game on PS5. Though I will say the fidelity mode is much sharper and on my monitor the unlocked framerate is interesting, it should be good for PS5 Pro.

Weirdly all my trophies auto popped except for beating the game, despite it being a ng+ save, oh well I'm gonna play through it anyway as it was my favourite Sony exclusive last gen

@DennisReynolds yeah its weird seeing so many trying to claim there's much difference when DF have already shown it to be basically identical. The only differences are a subtle depth of field change, the odd shadow looks a tad better and that's about it, sure 4K will look a bit sharper but surely most will be playing the 60fps mode anyway

I'm looking forward to this, it looks more in line with the original games style and I'm always up for this kind of game

I was scrolling this morning and saw a few tempters but between finishing off Final Fantasy VII Remake and then it's dlc and having just picked up Red Dead Redemption 1, I doubt I'd get round to playing them

What graphical enhancements? Don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered by them releasing this but let's not pretend that it isn't basically identical to playing the PS4 version on a PS5.

Plenty of other games have had PS5 versions release for free and games like Cyberpunk have given me way more significant upgrades on PC without charging me a penny

@themcnoisy yeah for newcomers it's a great way for people to jump in, just thinking about the games I played last year and I believe only Starfield was actually on one of them and the upcoming games I want to play aren't on them either.

Every time I look at the articles of games added to plus, the games I'd play such as RE2, I've owned since launch anyway and last year I ended up playing through more games than I have for years just by limiting myself to a few games rather than bouncing between lots of them

As expected the visual differences are basically non existent, though it must be said that this is still one of the very best looking games on the market, at least the loading times have been hugely improved.

I'll probably still get the upgrade, the improved loading is welcome and I'll give the extra content a go and overall this was my favourite game from Sony last gen

Aren't the subscription numbers going down for the likes of Disney and Netflix? If anything people look to be moving away from subscription models.

The only subscription I have now is Netflix and that's because its included in my mobile contract. I'd much rather just buy the movies I want to watch rather than hope they might be on one of 4 or 5 subscriptions.

As for gaming, my Gamepass sub has long since lapsed amd PS plus won't be getting renewed. I'd much rather buy the few games/films I have interest in and time to play, rather than pay subs for lots of games and films I might not even be bothered about

@Somapix RE2 Remake is one of the best horror games ever made, not as good as the original but certainly up there with the best in the series.

As for myself I'd love to find some time to play the Mana games

I tried watching some gameplay but it was just a mess of colour and noise. I imagine this is what it's like inside a 6 year old brain after eating a bowl of blue smarties

@thefourfoldroot1 those games available across both have become some of my favourites, GT7 is phenomenal in VR and I can't play it on the TV now, same for No Man's Sky and I suspect RE4 once I learn to reload in a hurry 😂

There is an insane amount of games, whether that be AAA or the small games on Steam, replaying old games and with many having subscriptions such as Gamepass and PS Plus, we're getting extra games thrown at us all of the time. I've long since got to the point where I have to ignore most new game releases as I simply don't have the time for them.

I'm currently finishing off FFVII remake, having started it years ago on PS4 and from last year have barely played Spider-Man 2, have Alan Wake 2 half finished and don't even have time to contemplate Baulders Gate 3.

So in what is already a stacked first 3 months of the year, FFVII Rebirth is potentially my only purchase

A PSVR2 road map from Sony themselves, they actually had a strong start but we've heard nothing since and if the PS5 Pro is a thing, I'd like to hear about boosts to framerates for GT7 amd Horizon in VR.

Also we need more Astro Bot

An outstanding expansion and together with the updates have made this my favourite open world game

@get2sammyb I've played this on PC and they've done an amazing job of making it look like a PS1 game from start to finish. A good survival horror game too and challenging

Got to love the fake Twitter outrage about Playstation players having to pay to play online whilst PC don't, like this hasn't been the case for over a decade

My biggest concern is Kaitlyn's size, as alluded to above, a big part of Abby's character is her size making her physically intimidating, I just don't get that with her but we'll see when the show comes out.

Also good luck to her online with all the nutters who are weirdly upset about Joel

I've not played my PS5 for the bulk of last year but it's been getting a lot of use recently, mainly with GT7 on PSVR2 but I also want to get back to FFVII Remake, having left it at chapter 13 some time ago back on the PS4

@SoulChimera it's become my main use for PS5 now, absolutely mind blowing in VR with a wheel

Sadly this is how these "free" games work and always will do, they're basically propped up by massively overpriced nonsense like this and streamers who'll buy these things and then get to show off to their followers, who in turn effectively pay them back

It's a great game and it being on PS5 can only be a positive for its player base, there's a lot to do and so much can be done solo if you so desire. Ots one of the best games I've played in recent years and hugely improved since launch

I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII Remastered recently and really enjoying it and it's made me want to finish FFVII Remake. I got up to chapter 13 and just stopped playing for some reason back on PS4, so I've got the PS5 version installed and moved my save file ready for my days off

It doesn't take an analyst to realise the blindingly obvious fact that people only have a finite amount of time. The industry will never be able to sustain more than a handful of big live service games

Oh and I've just seen that Mini Golf game has dlc based upon Labyrinth, so that's getting bought as well, I love that film

I was never a big fan of GT Sport given its primarily online focus, though its served its purpose well in laying the groundwork for GT7.

That said, I do believe Sony put these out to pasture far too soon, between this and Driveclub and the servers for games like Gravity Rush 2

Ooh I've just seen Moss is on sale for PSVR2, I've been waiting to pick that up, a bit of a shame Horizon was priced absurdly high as its still pretty pricey even in a sale. I might get Walkabout Mini Golf and some of its dlc too

@sanderson72 there is no reason whatsoever as they have identical button layouts and GT7 actually allows PS4 wheels to work and they all do just fine. I've got a Mayflash adapter to get my fighting stick to work in PS5 games and it does so just fine. Sony should be ashamed of themselves for ripping off their customers when it comes to controller compatability

Sony should also be looked at for disabling PS4 controllers in PS5 games, there is no reason for this to happen other than them forcing you to buy extra controllers for the PS5

More Gran Turismo 7 in VR, I've just bought the 1988 Mclaren F1 car so I need to build up some credits.

Also playing Final Fantasy VIII remastered, just in Dollet at the moment about to be chased to the shore by that big robot, a scene I'm very familiar with as my original PS1 copy always got stuck on the cutscene at the end. To this day its still my personal favourite in the series

@themightyant it's that good that sometimes I just jump in a car and go for a drive all by myself, the experience of just being inside all of these cars that I'll never get to drive in real life is incredible

Gran Turismo 7 is my favourite game on PSVR2 amd combined with a wheel is one of my favourite gaming experiences. Recently I bought Senna's 1988 Mclaren F1 car in it amd just sitting in this car that I've seen since I was a kid was such a joy.

My other favourite PSVR2 games would be Rez, Tetris Effect, Resident Evil 4 and No Man's Sky is amazing in VR as well

This game itself is no loss as its pretty terrible but it doesn't paint a good picture for the potential future of their other games such as Jurassic Park, though without them we wouldn't have the opportunity to buy them again anyway

This was a great return to form after the dismal launch of Street Fighter V, lots of content, looks amazing, great mechanics and accessibility for everyone to be able to play regardless of ability. One of the best fighting games I've played for years but slightly spoiled by the awful monetisation practices fighting games suffer from these days.

Still an excellent game overall

Resident Evil 4 Remake is great, some parts of the original I prefer but much of this is better amd the controls are much better and the VR mode is just so good.

But as @PegasusActual93 points out, where is Quake 2? That is easily one of the very best remasters ever and certainly the best one this year. It has all of the content, a brand new expansion, online multiplayer which is cross play, the Quake 2 N64 mode, accessibility options and more. Yet its not even an option when the frankly embarrassing Metal Gear collection is

I'd love to see them come forward but remastered with their own gameplay intact, I'm tired of silly comments like the gameplay is "dated". Nonsense, these games are still fun to play and not everything has to play the exact same way, have a bit of variety in your gaming

Not played Baldur's Gate 3 but having played Alan Wake 2, Like A Dragon and Spider-Man 2 amongst others, I've got to go with Like A Dragon Gaiden for best story. An emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, with a particularly poignant ending

@TrickyDicky99 no I don't think those are either, I'm looking to get a Quest 3 myself early next year to play games like Beat Saber without taking over the living room and PC VR games like Half-Life Alyx and more racing sims

@SgtTruth they backed the wrong horse with that one, it's not a bad game but flashy visuals aside, I wouldn't put it in my top 20 VR games across PSVR1/2 and some devs think climbing in VR is way more fun than it really is

@TrickyDicky99 I have none of those extras and have zero issues with comfort or charging a couple of controllers, they aren't necessary at all

So nothing to do with them releasing a mediocre game which didn't even have VR controls in it? Don't get me wrong, I think Sony have done an appalling job marketing PSVR2 but you can't blame others when your own game isn't any good.

Overall I'm very happy with my PSVR2 experience so far, Horizon was ok at best but GT7 is absolutely incredible in it, Resident Evil 4 is amazing, I've just started No Man's Sky in it and that is how you make a VR game. Plus many smaller games like Beat Saber, Tetris, Rez etc but I still feel Sony themselves really need to be supporting it more as it seems they're not even making games for it

It's nice to see a list break from the norm and I'm always on the look out for more VR games so will have to check out Walkabout Mini Golf

I don't understand how Gran Turismo 7 wasn't even amongst the nominations for best PSVR2 game of the year. For me it's definitely the best game on it, though Resident Evil Village is very good and I'd put No Man's Sky up there as well as one of the very best games. Horizon was pretty good but not amongst the very best

I've had a brief go of the demo but wasn't overly keen on how it makes you slide left and right woth the stick, hitting the ball was satisfying though

@Dragonaged @Splat it baffles me why someone comes to these comment sections just to say someone's favourite game list is "meh". It's also slightly concerning that so many seem to like those comments, it's a bit pathetic really

Resident Evil 4 is amazing and even better in VR but even on a TV it's easily amongst the best games this year and another great game from Capcom

I can buy full games for that price, with multiple cars if they happen to be racing games

Like A Dragon Gaiden is in my top 3 this year, along with Robocop and Resident Evil 4. The new combat style was a lot of fun and boy what an ending
