I played a bit of Fallout 76 at launch and didn't like it as so many things were missing, not least NPC's, I've been tempted to give it another go recently.
I have been playing Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 but this time on PC, having previously platinumed 4 on PS4, where it was actually my most played single player game by some distance, as I got sucked into the settlement building.
Overall it's one of my favourite franchises and I love 3, NV and 4, all have different strengths and weaknesses
I'm just hoping I can transfer my save file from to the upcoming PS5 version. For some reason my save file only works with the original disc version and not that which is on the Playstation store.
I've enjoyed Final Fantasy Rebirth but personally I think Like A Dragon is the best game I've played on PS5 this year so far, with Tekken 8 in 2nd place and FFVII 3rd
They'll all have their own subscription soon but there's no chance I'm ever getting another, I've been scaling back all my subs as they're all worthless to me
@Widey85 I think it's just a modern trend of pretending some games are way harder than they actually are, same happened with the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time
I prefer 60 but am playing FFVII Rebirth at 30 as it looks awful in performance mode. I do feel developers should be aiming for 60fps on these consoles and in general I'll just buy a game on PC if console performance isn't good
It's no surprise really but that doesn't mean other games aren't being played and I doubt many have more than 1 or 2 live services in rotation, then inbetween play other games. What it does show, is how difficult it will be for new live service games to make a dent in the market, if you're invested heavily in one of these, then why would you change?
Yet as a gamer I've played it far less then every other Playstation generation so far. We're coming up to 4 years in and I can count on one hand the amount of games I've enjoyed on PS5 that weren't available on previous generations
From what I've seen so far I feel its an underwhelming upgrade. RT and upscaling should look better but I don't see it running games much better than the current PS5. My PC is still well beyond what the Pro will be, so it's pretty worthless to me, I'll save my money for Switch 2
@jt887 yeah I don't expect it to ever improve really, I think its just too low of an internal resolution to be fixed by whatever post processing and upscaling they're using. It's the one game PS5 Pro could improve quite a bit but I'd have long since finished it by then
I've just been playing in Costa Del Sol and noticed the update, the 60fps mode still looks low resolution and a bit rubbish, I'll be sticking to the 30fps mode
@ShogunRok I kind of suspected that part may have been more a marketing point but overall it sounds great. Now I just need to work out how it can fit in time to play it
@get2sammyb this is the problem for me at the moment, I don't really get much time to play and then LAD, FFVII, Ronin, this and many more just launch in the first 3 months of the year
@ShogunRok I've never played the original but everything in this review makes it sound like a game for me. My pet peeve of open worlds is mission markers and being told where to go, so having one that is rewarding to explore and the journey is enjoyable is right up my street. I'll probably buy it on PC though where I can control the framerate.
One thing I've seen is things like a wall being broken so water could wash away and enemy and running into town chased by monsters and the towns folk take up arms. Is this emergent gameplay a regular thing throughout the game?
@Sakai sadly overall its a smaller upgrade on both the CPU and GPU side (despite the inflated tflops) than the PS4 Pro was. Though the RT and upscaling should be a fair bit better. Personally I'll just stick with the base model
As someone who bought the PS4 Pro, this time I'll be sticking with the base PS5. I've seen nothing to suggest it'll be anything more than a modest upgrade and I already have a PC that's still far ahead of what the Pro will be.
On base PS5, the only game I feel that needed a bit more power to run is FFVII and everything else looks great
Oh and somehow it's 63GB, plus you can't invert controls and they stole fan made mods, which they've since tried to patch out. Just a disaster of a game
I really loved playing GT7 on this but it's been clear for quite some time this is dead in the water. Sales have been sluggish since the start and Sony's own lack of support hasn't helped. It's a cool piece of hardware and has some fun games but I've already sold mine.
Fun fact, Nintendo developed 4 games for it's Virtual Boy, so far Sony has made one for PSVR2
@MrMagic well that's fine but I'm just saying it in regards to gauging performance between the PS5 and Pro. RDNA3 uses dual issue compute to come up with that number, so that the 16.17 tflop RDNA 2 RX6800 has the same performance as the 35.17 tflop RDNA3 7700xt. Oh and the 29.77 tflop 3080 outperforms both by nearly 20%
Tflops are a terrible way to measure cards between architectures
@MrMagic think of it more as 16tflops vs 10.3 for the true performance uplift, the 33 reported is because of it moving to RDNA3 and isn't really performance related
I was a bit wary of it having been disappointed by Remake but I have to say after around 10 hours, that so far this is the best Final Fantasy has been since the PS1 games
Can we just let Nightdive Studios remaster these old games? This lot are a disgrace, from their missing content on Switch in a previous game and this absolute mess, which lacks even basic features such as inverting controls and is around 60gb for a pair of 20 year old games with a facelift
You're probably better off with the PS classics version of Grandia, the "HD" version is based upon it anyway rather than the better looking Saturn version and the smoothing of the artwork is hideous
@gymratAmarillo oh I agree that they can't keep just making these huge budget games and should mix them up with smaller titles. Not just Sony either but the entire AAA gaming industry
@gymratAmarillo console sales may be a big income source but not necessarily for profit. PS5 just had its most successful year in terms of selling hardware yet their profit margin was below 6% for the holiday quarter. Something will have to give
There are plenty who are opposed to the end of exclusivity but the reality is with these ever expanding budgets and development times, it is something that simply is unsustainable.
People keep saying these games wouldn't be made without exclusivity but if for example Sony thinks they can sell an extra 10 to 15 million copies of Spider-Man 3 if it launched elsewhere as well as PS5, then of course they'll make the game.
Of course there is a balance but it's painfully obvious that the margins on the current business model are shrinking
@ShogunRok I wonder if it's the reported length of the game or many like myself who enjoyed Remake but weren't blown away by it as it kind of dragged on and may be put off. Or perhaps the lacklustre visuals in the demo, or even an indication of many have nostalgia for Midgar as the opening part of the original game but many may not have actually finished it.
For me its just there are too many games at the moment and coming off the back of Like A Dragon I don't want to commit to another big game yet and then there's Dragons Dogma soon
At this point I never expected it to be on Xbox anyway, Remake is already a few years old and on PC, so of it was going to Xbox it would have already happened.
Playstation originally built its brand upon 3rd party exclusives and given how long development times have increased, it makes sense to try again, whether that's good for gamers or the games themselves is up for debate.
It's funny to think that I started with PS1 playing Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy VII and Tekken and now these are still the games I've been playing most on PS5 over the last 12 months with their latest entries
@RBMango yeah I'd go with this, some of its individual parts don't necessarily look great but the overall image is often stunning. It's certainly one of my favourite Playstation exclusives, in fact I'd go so far to say it's in my top 2 or 3 Sony exclusives for the PS4.

Brutal? It's not even difficult, I tried it for the first time in 20 years a few weeks ago and it took me less than 5 minutes to do

This "free" to play model seriously needs to go. All it does is make games much worse to play and potentially significantly more expensive too

@VaultGuy415 your 3080ti is around 35% faster than these rumoured specs

@jt887 No, it'll be around a 7700xt or 3070ti as Nvidia's equivalent
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Is Up to Three Times Faster Than PS5 as Specs Surface
It's not 3x faster or even remotelyclose to that, it'll have a 45% performance increase and the tflop uplift is down to moving to RDNA3.
The RX6800 and 7700xt have 16 and 35 tflops respectively for near identical performance
