Yep and I'm very impressed with it so far, of the Pro enabled games I've tried The Last Of Us 2 looks significantly better, as does RE4 and Ratchet & Clank. On a high end OLED it looks amazing and 120hz VRR support is a must to get the most out of it. I also had a go of RE2's RT mode and that now locks to 60fps.
One final thought, the 2tb hard drive is very welcome, after feeling I was constantly running out of space on the base PS5, I've been installing a lot of games without issue, including big games such as GTAV, FFVII Rebirth and GT7
I hope so as it doesn't make much sense otherwise, not that it was the best Mega Drive collection (especially on Switch) but also those games delisted from Xbox.
As mentioned above, RGG have already done a lot of the work for Sega's arcade games, so packaging them together would be nice, even better if they could match he Atari 50th presentation.
Even for someone like me who still has their Dreamcast sat right next to the PS5 Pro, I'd be all over new Sega compilations on modern hardware
Native resolution has been pointless to anyone gaming on PC for a while with DLSS, so PSSR was the biggest selling point of the Pro to me and it hasn't disappointed in the games I've tried so far. The Last of Us 2 for example, when looking at images online it might not look a big deal but sat right in front of your 4K TV and it's night and day
Mine is here, got the disc drive and SSD installed and those little feet are actually way more stable than the stand of the base model when Horizontal.
Now just installing games but have had a quick go of Resident Evil 2's RT mode which locked to 60fps and The Last of Us 2 which looks razor sharp
I can't wait to try this in GT7 and despite what some think, it's a much better game than GT Sport was. Fingers crossed they don't remove this option when the true Pro patch comes
I still regularly play Virtua Fighter 2 and 4, as for what I'd like to see them do for a new entry, how about something along the lines of Fighters Megamix? Have the core Virtua Fighter experience but supplemented by some external Sega characters, both sensible such as Kiryu and bonkers like a Daytona car
Mine has been dispatched and I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces tomorrow with FFVII, RE4 and F124, perhaps even a bit of The Last of Us 2
And this is why the console itself should come with one or at the very least they should have held back stock on their own site, so anyone buying a Pro can add the disc drive to the transaction.
Luckily I saw this coming and secured my disc drive a while back
"Xbox's Legendary Strategy Series Seemingly Set to Invade PS5"
This game was on the PS2 before any Xbox console even launched, the game didn't even launch on an Xbox console until 20 years later.
Originally a PC game and then Microsoft bought the studio in 2001, whilst Konami published the game on PS2 later that year as it was already in development, it's funny how history repeats itself
For me Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth is better than almost everything on that list, certainly the best in its genre this year. Tekken 8 is also great and Astro Bot is very good and I've not played Shadow Generations yet which is meant to be rather good too.
From this list I'd go Astor Bot but Infinite Wealth is probably my overall pick
@themightyant yeah, to me it seems and Sony (and the rest) keep cherry picking numbers to help encourage people into believing physical is dying and make them think about switching to digital. As ultimately, all publishers would much prefer to be 100% digital
@LordAinsley this has a nice breakdown for Europe with some data between platforms and types of games, which is why I always find it annoying when the overall number is reported without context. Even the Insomniac leaks had Sonys own games selling just 35% digitally overall for the leaked period https://www.gamesindustry.biz/how-digital-is-the-video-games-market-in-2024
Well I'm glad Sony haven't gone with AMD's hugely misleading dual compute numbers as they're basically irrelevant for gaming. I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces on Thursday, not only with Pro enhanced games but how it will smooth over performance in stuff like Robocop or the RE Remakes RT modes
@EchoRange @LordAinsley those are overall numbers, for single player games they often sell better physically than digitally, or at least as well. It's online multiplayer titles and deep discounts on things like PSN sales that skew overall sales heavily in favour of digital.
@Chaosbros super sampling on PS4 Pro was just for those who were still on 1080p screens to get a small visual benefit of a game that could internally render above it. Something along those lines would be of no use to the PS5 Pro
@themightyant yeah, I linked an article above and it varies vastly by game type, single player more towards physical and online games much more digitally. This year, it's so far veered towards digital on the back of games like Helldivers, whilst the likes of Star Wars have sold poorly compared with last years Hogwarts, plus Xbox skew the overall numbers towards digital as they have a much higher percentage than the others
That figure includes Xbox which is around 90% digitally. For Playstation it's actually 32% physically this year across Europe and that's largely down to the type of games, Helldivers 2 for example was a big hit and online multiplayer games sell way more digitally where as single player games actually sell at least as much physically
In either case I have my disc drive ready for when my Pro arrives
Hopefully Sony have learned a very expensive lesson here, it's a shame for those employed their but sadly inevitable ever since the reveal at the showcase earlier this year. Its just beyond stupid to throw crazy amounts of money at a hero shooter of all things, even Sega was smart enough to drop theirs before releasing it
Despite getting Spider-Man 2 around launch, I barely played it, so the new Pro modes seem like the perfect time to swing back into action and I'll give Ratchet another go, I've already got it's platinum but it was a fun game
@Dimey I don't get what they're doing these days and I suspect they don't really have a plan either. I've played on every Xbox generation but have recently sold my Series X as there's little point in me having it anymore.
A world where the Xbox consoles can't compete with Sony, isn't good for players on either side
Awesome news, I've just had the physical version delivered and I can't wait to get started. Whilst the environments in Sonic Frontiers were a bit drab, it did lay some excellent foundations for how Sonic games should play going forward and it seems that Shadow is reaping the rewards
I think the Xbox console is finished as a viable proposition, at some point down the line the people in charge of the money will be wondering why they're making millions selling COD on Playstation but not Halo
It's had a good start despite it being hampered by stock issues as it's been out of stock or very difficult to get for a week in the UK. I actually ended up getting it on both PC and PS5, I wasn't going to pick it up on console but my local GAME was selling the steelbook in store
@GreatAuk Not really, on a 4070ti I wasn't maintaining 60fps in this without frame gen, granted I was using higher RT settings but at a lower resolution so I wouldn't expect the Pro to do 60fps at that fidelity but it's still a huge leap over the capabilities of the base PS5.
I do agree about more devs exploring 40fps options though and perhaps that could have been achieved here
@Mostik @Medic_alert Argos is another good place to look as well, I got mine from there a week or so ago and they're still showing as in stock (where I live at least)
As someone who's played this on a high end PC , I'm pretty impressed with what the Pro is doing with the quality of those RT reflections, it may be 30fps but this is a very demanding game at those settings and it elevates the visuals hugely at times
They've put out a tweet showcasing the PS5 Pro improvements and it's pretty impressive, the quality of the reflections is very high, albeit at 30fps, but this is very demanding on PC too https://x.com/remedygames/status/1848378922292953391
This is the big selling point of the Pro for me and a great showing so far and it's a good step up from the latest version of FSR. Plus we've already seen what it can do with games like FFVII, where the developers implemented a rather crude upscaling method initially.
These stats don't tell the whole story though, how much of this are years old games in PSN sales for example? What we really need are sales splits for new releases as these will be much closer and even favour physical for some games.
This also ignores the huge used market, obviously none of this money goes to Sony but this stat in no way really reflects how many games are bought or played physically
I've slowly come round to the Pro and have it preordered. I've already sold my PS5 and just have a disc drive sat waiting for the next 3 weeks. I recently upgraded my TV, so I may as well take full advantage of it
An 8 for me, it's technical issues (thanks UE5) prevent it from being any higher. Also I feel the mannequins are overused and the some of the bosses aren't great.
On the positive side, it really is a fantastic game that just oozes atmosphere and has been smartly updated from the original with some great performances from it's cast, the sound design and visuals are excellent.
Overall it's one of the best remakes I've played and up there with the Resident Evil remakes
I've just got to the hospital and I'm loving the game. I did play the original back on the PS2 and this remake is utterly fantastic so far being both familiar and expanding upon it in smart ways, woth some nice little Easter eggs too

@Mostik @DennisReynolds no the GT7 patch isn't out yet but you can run it at 4K 120fps

That's interesting, I wonder if it's some kind of plugin to simply take PS4's internal render resolutions and output using PSSR

Re: Crummy Classic Sports Games Compiled in Accolade Sports Collection on PS5, PS4
I had Summer Challenge back then and played it a fair bit, it was fun, though I'm not sure I'd play it much today.
I'd much rather see a PS1 era summer games brought forward if there are any, the Saturn had Athlete King's which is still great to play today

Sorry, how does COD's inclusion on Gamepass inflate Steams concurrent numbers where you have to buy the game?
