Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Director: This Game Is Worth the Money

carlos82

The game length argument is as stupid as always and has nothing to do with either value or how long I'll actually play it for. The Resident Evil 2 Remake is a game I can beat in less than a couple of hours, yet I've easily spent over 100 hours playing it. On the other side there is Assassins Creed Valhalla which is stupidly long and I stopped after 30 hours or so as I got bored of it.

Give me a game that I enjoy playing and doesn't outstay it's welcome over filling an open world with "content" for the sake of it any day

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

carlos82

I wouldn't say its been amongst my most anticipated games this year, though I did get the platinum on the previous games and really enjoyed them. I'll be starting this Monday as I don't have much time this weekend, so it'll be a bit of the brilliant Mario Wonder until then

Re: Sonic Superstars (PS5) - A Solid 2D Sonic Game, If You Play It Solo

carlos82

I never intended to play this coop anyway, 2D platformers have rarely been a good fit for such a thing and Sonic certainly never will be.

The review sounds much better than a 6 though, particularly if you're playing solo like the vast majority will be. I'm looking forward to playing both this and the new Mario game

Re: RoboCop: Rogue City Is Much More of an RPG Than You Might Think

carlos82

In the demo they were an interesting addition and there were safes I couldn't open and some clues I couldn't fully scan as I opted to have the bullet ricochet from the movie as my early upgrade. I did enjoy the mini open world and investigating crimes and hopefully there's a nice blend of that and the straight up shooting levels in the final game. Its very high up on my most wanted list

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real

carlos82

I hope its a full price release just to see the chaos online 😂

What is the point in remastering a game that's already 60fps on PS5 and still looks better than most of the games on it.

Have Sony forgotten the PS5 is backwards compatible?

Re: Jim Ryan Retires as PlayStation Boss in March 2024

carlos82

@ShogunRok whilst I haven't been a fan of him in a public speaking role, its very clear that he has been a huge part of Playstation's success, certainly in Europe and I have nothing but respect for that and you don't work for a company for 30 years and become it's CEO for nothing.

I wish him well in his well earned retirement

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty?

carlos82

I've played about 3 hours of the dlc and so far it's superb. I have previously beaten the game and now I'm using my high level V to play with the new perks. I'm currently running a blades build and it's great fun taking down groups with just a sword, blocking bullets and air dashing about.

The update and dlc have cemented Cyberpunk as my favourite open world game and it looks stunning too

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0?

carlos82

I played through it on PC earlier this year and have been playing this new update there and the new ray reconstruction looks unbelievable, finally showcasing what my GPU can really do. In terms of the gameplay improvements, I feel they've transformed the game. I've had a quick go on my high level character but will be starting a fresh save for the dlc but the new police and perks are brilliant fun, whether I'm blocking bullets with a sword or bullet time jumping from my vehicle

Re: Xbox Poised to Borrow from PS5's DualSense Controller

carlos82

@Matroska I didn't say they were the same as haptic feedback from a technology standpoint, how they achieve them isn't my point, rather how they all take ideas from one another and implement or improve upon them. Often these are invented outside of gaming and I think you're right in that the Steam controller was the first to use it. I do wish though that Sega's idea of using hall effect sensors would have caught on and save us from this stick drift that is all too common

Re: Xbox Poised to Borrow from PS5's DualSense Controller

carlos82

It's good to see Xbox taking these ideas from Sony who in turn iterated from Nintendo and their HD rumble and Xbox's own trigger rumble and I've seen Nintendo patents for a hall effect style analogue stick to finally catch up with Sega from nearly 30 years ago

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update Is an Outstanding, Game-Changing Overhaul

carlos82

Sounds awesome, I've had a lot of fun with this game even though it wasn't that obvious how to fully customise your character. Even so I managed to be a Katana wielding maniac who could slow down time or be able to bounce bullets of walls Robocop style but this sounds a huge improvement. Ultimately I'll be playing on PC, so will get to experience the upgraded ray tracing as well, though it sounds like a great time for all

Re: Death Stranding, the PS5, PS4 Game, Is Coming Natively to iPhone 15 Pro

carlos82

Whilst it's noteworthy such games will be sold on an iPhone, I don't understand the fuss of an iPhone being able to run them. These games were designed to run on what is now a 10 year old console and the likes of Steamdeck plays such games for less than half the price of what this will be.

That said, personally I have no interest in playing such games on a phone

Re: PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Spending Has Completely Plateaued in USA

carlos82

This year I won't be renewing any of my gaming subscriptions as I barely have time to play the games I buy, let alone what each of those offer. Looking at the next couple of months alone there is Starfield, Cyberpunk dlc, Spider-Man, Mario, Sonic, Alan Wake 2, Forza, whilst on Steam I'm yet to get round to System Shock and Turbo Overkill.

Gaming subscriptions can be a great option but I doubt I'll use any of them again

Re: Looks Like Quake 2 Will Target PS5, PS4 Later This Month

carlos82

@GamingFan4Lyf yeah its one of the main reasons I went with Nvidia, I enjoy these RT versions and mods for older games and their OGL support is more reliable for certain emulators. My 3070ti for example is much slower than a 6950xt which has a 30 to 35% lead in Cyberpunk, but at RT Ultra they basically run the same and with DLSS vs FSR the 3070ti is actually a bit quicker and had Nvidia given it more VRAM I suspect it would have a decent advantage

Re: Looks Like Quake 2 Will Target PS5, PS4 Later This Month

carlos82

@GamingFan4Lyf I've seen a 6700xt running in the low 40's at 1080p, so maybe with some optimisations the PS5 could do a locked 30fps. Sadly AMD and the consoles in particular have very limited RT capabilities.

I do enjoy this on PC, so it'll be interesting to see how the remake compares, though I may stick with the RT version as I have done witht he original Quake mod. Still it's good to see these games getting a new lease of life
