A 10 from me, it looks amazing and plays brilliantly and not only possibly the most in depth fighter but also one of the easiest to get into. The Arcade Quest is basically a tutorial in all but name, which introduces the various mechanics and teaches you moves along the way. Then with the story mode, the character stories, Tekken Ball and the excellent jukebox system, if you have any interest in fighting games, this is an easy recommendation
No, I'm a huge Batman fan but can't say a third person looter shooter set in that world is appealing. I may give it a go down the line in a sale but I've got too much to play with Tekken 8, Like A Dragon and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in a few weeks
No chance, the rumours have it playing PS5 games despite being nowhere near its specs. Developers aren't going back to rework their games to run on such a device and PS4 games will still be limited by the PS4 code
My internal and NVME are full but there's a few games I'm not playing so can make space.
I finally finished Final Fantasy VII Remake last night, nearly 4 years after I first started it, so its very fresh in my mind and can't wait for Rebirth
I already have this digitally minus the dlc on PS5 (have it on Steam) but I might get the physical version of this as I'm starting to move back to having a physical collection
This should be the case for all online games when they get turned off but at least this makes me more confident that GT7 and its amazing VR mode will be preserved
@Kidfried yeah at the very least it's different to the typical AAA open world games. One thing I did like about it was it made traversal interesting, as you had to think about your route, rather than just moving in a straight line to your destination, oh and making a network of zip lines was fun
Death Stranding 2 looks amazing and bonkers, whatever you think of Kojima, you just have to love that at some point he thought what this game needs most is a stop motion animation talking puppet.
Loved the first one and this looks to be as brilliant and looks stunning, we need more Decima engine games
I'm not sure how I feel about the move away from the fixed camera angles, in the original it made you feel like you were playing through a teen horror film, something that could easily be lost with a free camera. I doubt the story will be changed much, its not like they've gone back and hired these actors again, so unless they had unused footage. I'll be curious to see what has changed and how it impacts the experience, for better or worse
That was a fantastic show and very well presented. Death Stranding 2 looks amazing, the 2 PSVR2 games look very promising as do Ronin and Stellar Blade, plus the Silent Hill stuff. Just great stuff all round.
Final Fantasy VII is the big one and I've got the Deluxe edition preordered, I'm also looking forward to the Tomb Raider Trilogy and Star Wars Dark Forces remasters and may get that South Park game
It's a great game and I've only played a bit in VR but certainly want to play more as its an amazing experience. Out of the modern remakes RE2 is still my favourite as i lean towards the more survival horror aspects of the series but this is up there.
Going forward I'd be way more interested in a Code Veronica remake than RE5
Sonic Generations already had pretty advanced visuals for the time and the PC version still looks great. One big improvement it desperately needs is in its 2D controls and it they implement those from the recent Sonic game, then that alone would be a massive improvement
Judging it on its own merits I give it a 10 as its a fantastic game, that plays great and looks amazing
Judging it purely as a remaster and how much of an upgrade it is, then it's probably a 3 as it's basically the same. If you're a newcomer then it's a great game and no reason not to buy the PS5 version, if you already have the PS4 game just be aware this looks and plays identically to that version on the PS5 but with some extra content outside rhe main game
I've not played a game in the series since Tekken 3 but I got this at launch and it's so muchbfuna and looks amazing. I'm so bad at the moment but still having a great time getting to grips with it playing as King and it does a really good job of teaching you how to play
@themightyant if you look at it year on year the physical percentage has actually increased recently and as you pointed out, many major releases tend to sell far more physically than digital. With digital only really catching up years down the line with sales etc, Xbox is an outlier in all of this but understandable given their console lineup and business focus
Great article @get2sammyb, I've always been a huge fan of physical games, more so physical games of the past where we had manuals and things like that for a complete package. For some time now I've bought mainly digital and play a lot on PC but even on Playstation my library is almost entirely digital.
Though recently and for no real reason I've started buying physical games again with the likes of Tekken 8, GT7, Horizon Forbidden West and even FFVII remake despite already owning it digitally but I at least did get the dlc.
Back to my first point and the lack of manuals etc, I did pickup the Red Dead Redemption PS4 remaster amd was disappointed it had none, so went to CEX to buy the PS3 version and now my PS4 game has a manual and the map 😅
It's just installing, so had a quick go with King whilst I'm waiting in its ready to play mode and can already tell I'm gonna love this. I played a lot of Tekken 2 and 3 on the PS1 but not so much since but I do like 3d fighters the most. King was my go to back in those days and I remember reading the manual whilst my friends button mashed and they were surprised when I pulled out all the wrestling moves. I'm going to test ot with my arcade stick when it's fully installed and hopefully my Mayflash adapter will let it work with the PS5 (thanks Sony 🙄)
With this and me playing GT7 and FFVII Rebirth and Tomb Raider coming up, my PS5 is starting to feel like playing the PS1 again in the best way possible
I'm currently and finally finishing it off, I stopped on Chapter 13 years ago for some reason but now on chapter 17 and loving it and should finish it soon
@Pat84 I'm baffled as to why Sony didn't do some of these ports for launch, especially Blood and Truth given how well suited it would be plus they made a PS5 patch anyway but for PSVR1
Sadly I'm not surprised, I've seen a few PSVR2 games are having to pivot to play outside of VR and games such as I Expect You to Die are completely absent. It seems PSVR2 only sol around 10,000 units across the holiday season on Amazon US.
When Sony themselves haven't supported it outside of launch it really isn't a good look for consumers or developers. I've really enjoyed playing GT7 in VR but I'm seriously considering selling it and getting the Quest 3 as there seems little future in the platform at the moment
I can't say any of these are high up on my list to buy, I've got a couple of the vision cars and whilst they are rather nice, they aren't amongst my favourite cars in the game. I'll just save my credits for when the classic race cars come back into stock. Still it's nice not to have to buy a car pass to be able to access new cars as in certain other racing games
@Boucho11 if you're a fan of Robocop then definitely, if you like the late 90's/early 2000's era for fps then I'd say yes as well. Its slower paced which suits the character and the story fits in great following Robocop 2 and it has some of the most satisfying and violent shooting in a recent fps
I had a quick go of the There will be trouble difficulty last night on Steam and it was a fair bit more challenging and I had to make much more use of cover. This was one of my favourite games last year and I'm going to enjoy playing through it all again
@ShogunRok as someone who's not played one of these much since Tekken 3, how easy do you think it will be to get back into? Street Fighter 6 did an amazing job for newcomers and lapsed players in getting them up and running.
Overall I do prefer fully 3D fighters and am a big Virtua Fighter fan but want to get back into this series
Why even bother to say it's part of the Arkhamverse in the first place? It was only ever an unnecessary limitation and one they're clearly going to ignore anyway. Oh and if you are going to use a Batman villain with an Umbrella as their mode of transportation, then surely that is Penguin
I've literally just booted it up and yeah it looks the same as when I played the PS4 game on PS5. Though I will say the fidelity mode is much sharper and on my monitor the unlocked framerate is interesting, it should be good for PS5 Pro.
Weirdly all my trophies auto popped except for beating the game, despite it being a ng+ save, oh well I'm gonna play through it anyway as it was my favourite Sony exclusive last gen
@DennisReynolds yeah its weird seeing so many trying to claim there's much difference when DF have already shown it to be basically identical. The only differences are a subtle depth of field change, the odd shadow looks a tad better and that's about it, sure 4K will look a bit sharper but surely most will be playing the 60fps mode anyway
I was scrolling this morning and saw a few tempters but between finishing off Final Fantasy VII Remake and then it's dlc and having just picked up Red Dead Redemption 1, I doubt I'd get round to playing them
What graphical enhancements? Don't get me wrong, I'm not bothered by them releasing this but let's not pretend that it isn't basically identical to playing the PS4 version on a PS5.
Plenty of other games have had PS5 versions release for free and games like Cyberpunk have given me way more significant upgrades on PC without charging me a penny
@themcnoisy yeah for newcomers it's a great way for people to jump in, just thinking about the games I played last year and I believe only Starfield was actually on one of them and the upcoming games I want to play aren't on them either.
Every time I look at the articles of games added to plus, the games I'd play such as RE2, I've owned since launch anyway and last year I ended up playing through more games than I have for years just by limiting myself to a few games rather than bouncing between lots of them
As expected the visual differences are basically non existent, though it must be said that this is still one of the very best looking games on the market, at least the loading times have been hugely improved.
I'll probably still get the upgrade, the improved loading is welcome and I'll give the extra content a go and overall this was my favourite game from Sony last gen
