@Johnnycide I agree that Push Square has very honest reviews. The thing that convinced me was actually a negative [buying] experience. Push Square rated Ride 4 a 4/10, and handling the bikes was treacherous, but my ***** thought the game looked way too amazing and true next-gen experience to pass up. (Meanwhile, other review sites were giving it much higher scores.) 2 or 3 hours after buying the game and playing it, I realized it was the worst game purchase I had made in 35+ years --- I should have listened to Push Square!!! Been a loyalist ever since.
Considering I have a full-on sim racing rig with cockpit, wheel & pedals, this should be a game-changing experience especially when playing Sport mode...if not for the nausea...
@Titntin that's exactly the boat I am in. I'm going to give it the good ole college try again, though, and try every single recommendation for preventing the sickness with PSVR2.
Edit: Oof, my sickness was never that bad. I would feel sick (felt like a raging headache, or hangover) for a good 3 or 4 hours afterwards before it finally went away. But never days at a time๐ซ
@JudgeDredd This was my favorite Ridge Racer as well. Probably the best looking racer on all of PSX. And it ran great. Granted, it wasn't nearly as ambitious Gran Turismo.
The irony of a game like this is it is a simulation of a mundane, repetitive job that people in real life don't even enjoy doing, but they have to do it for a living. And now it's a videogame๐คท
@BrintaPap I use my sim racing rig (with racing chair) with my game consoles. Granted, not quite as comfortable playing NBA2K or Returnal as a couch would be, but ya work with what ya got!
@chucksneed feels like keyboard & mouse would make the game too easy, but idk. (And Dual Sense heightens the experience.) It's my favorite game, and it's cool that more gamers get to experience it.
@huyi Why are you assuming that the poster that you insulted doesn't have a life and is in debt? We're all on here as gamers โ how many outside of this hobby have their own judgements about how we spend our time? Chill๐
Project CARS was in a tough spot, having to compete with Gran Turismo 7 on PS, and Forza Motorsport on Xbox/PC. Not to mention the Assetto Corsa series...
When I first saw this article, I thought "DiRT", as in Dirt Rally --- I would have been PISSED if they had canceled Dirt Rally (soon to be WRC). That series is great sim-racing/rallying across beautiful landscapes.
Although I was never big on the arcade-y Dirt series, I feel bad for those that loved the series. Let me guess, EA, you're going to put more money into MUT and FUT?๐
Any reports of if the this headset โ with its foveat rendering & headset haptics โ actually reduce motion sickness? I'd get it Day 1 just like I did PSVR, but not if the motion sickness is the same...
@Titntin This is a bit of an exaggeration. Toggling left & right between Graphics mode and Performance mode is hardly "fine tuning". There is NO comparison between this and the limitless graphics optimization options found on PC.
Especially in the absence of a performance mode, having a choppy, un-smooth gameplay experience just seems like bad programming, development, production to me at this point --- I tend to bypass such titles.
In games with graphics options like Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank, Control Ultimate, Uncharted Remastered, the first thing I do is toggle back n forth and back n forth between graphics 30fps and performance 60fps modes, and other than being insignificantly sharper around the edges, the games look indiscernible, and it's not until the game is in motion that you can tell a difference โ because the performance mode actually feels like it's running on more powerful hardware. And I own a Samsung 8K tv and LG OLED so it's not like I can't see the true difference because I'm running my PS5 on a potato. The increased graphical fidelity is never as great as you would think, unless more people walking on the streets off in the distance in Spiderman: Miles Morales is important to you ...
That said, of course not all games need 60fps, I don't need 60fps playing Tetris: Connected, or something where the screen/environment isn't constantly shifting, panning around.
PC gamers can get monitors up to 144hz or even 240hz for games that can perform that fast. I don't see how asking for 60hz (60fps) is asking too much ...
60fps is important โ and necessary โ to me. Even during the PS4 Pro era 30fps was undoable for me. Way too choppy, stuttery, and felt like it strained my eyes.
60fps just feels next-gen to me, and it has been one of my favorite features of this gen. I don't think I've bothered with a 30fps-only game since leaving last-gen. Returnal, Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, NBA2K23, F1, Control Ultimate Edition, Ratchet & Clank, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, TLOU1 & 2, Stray, all far better games in smooth 60fps. What good are higher resolutions or ray-tracing if the game is choppy? (What good is a supermodel on the runway if she lumbers along like an ogre?) It kills the immersion. 60fps is like being in the game --- no stuttering to remind me I'm playing a [last-gen] videogame...
And, yeah, the poll doesn't work...
EDIT: Poll works now โ voted for 'All PS5 games should offer a 60fps mode' ...
I will probably grab one. It's $20 more than the Xbox Elite 2 was at its launch, even though that was basically Xbox 360-era tech, and the quality of that controller is absolutely rubbish...and I own one that I've been trying to get rid of on eBay. I expect this to be far better quality.
Not typically a fan of this series โ still dislike how slow, sluggish the controls are, way too animation driven. And I'm also not big on today's NBA (how the game is played) ...
But...I'm here for this year's edition only for the Michael Jordan Challenge and myEra. Running entire seasons with the 90s Bulls or any other team from that era, or playing in other eras like the 80s and 2000s, will have me playing for months and perhaps years. Best bball game since 2K11, and the most comprehensive history of a sport in videogame form.
The same, terrible AI. Linebackers coming straight up the middle at the Center, and the center turns the other cheek and let's the LB sack the QB without being touched. Same kicking animations, same camera panning at the conclusion of plays, same gangly player models, same out of proportion (tiny) heads ... Same game.
Haven't actually enjoyed an NBA2K game since the G.O.A.T. NBA2K11. The gameplay and animations are sluggish & stale, but I will be getting 2K23 just for MJ. Then it's back to not supporting the series.
Folder creation, management is extremely barebones. Like others have said, you can't place them on the home screen...not only that, it's buried under Library, and then 1 tab over to Your Collection โ not convenient, at all. Also, you can't reorder the folders, nor the order that the games appear in the folder. If the final product is anything like this, I don't see it getting used โ pretty disappointing use of development, thus far.
I used to think Sony was slow on this stuff too...until I got a Series X last summer.
Xbox (the dashboard) still has a garish UI, still does not use HDR, it's slower (probably not much can be done about that). The one thing I liked about Xbox is the app switcher, and to be honest, being that I work with computers and I don't like running unnecessary apps in the background using up resources, I close every window/app/game if I am not using it, so that feature is lost on me anyways.
@Futureshark I tried again about an hour ago but...still nothing in my inbox (or junk folder).๐ฉ WTH, did i get banned by Sony or something?๐คทโโ๏ธ
@Futureshark Same here โ I'm pretty upset about it. I was PS4 beta tester, too. I signed up for PS5 beta as soon as it was available...and multiple time since then. Not sure how they go about selecting testers. I am very active on my consoles. And it's not like I am only playing free games โ I am quite active in purchasing games & services...
@Anthony_Daniels "If you want better realism then you better move onto AC"
So your argument is not for Polyphony to improve the game; but for customers to just move onto ACC? LOL. But this game is self-billed as "The Real Driving Simulator", tho๐ค
@LiamCroft This is a Day 1 buy for me. And quite frankly I find the "cash grab" complainers to be annoying. (Go find a game that you are actually excited about and quit wasting time spamming every TLOU Remake article with gratuitous, lazy "cash grab" comments.)
That said ... I agree with the complaints that you should have updated the old "leaks" article to include the link to official gameplay deep-dive. Seems like hiding/backpedaling from the doubt/cynicism expressed [by Push Square] in that article --- you should have just owned it ...
@IronMike Careful โ Do not rattle the GT superfans here. I probably have 5 times as many hours put into this game as these people. (And I'm no "casual" player, I have a Next Level Racing cockpit and Fanatec DD gear.) It's a fine game, but many parts need fixing. And they don't get addressed because of the people that gush over how perfect the game is and shout down others that point out the problems in the game.
