Interestingly enough, I've played it on the arcade once or twice, when I was 15 or something. It came out on 1996 on the arcades I think. Had a couple of laughs for a couple of cents. Much later on, I grabbed a copy of Sonic Gems Collection and was appalled to see how bad it is.
I feel very sorry for anyone who should feel the urge to pay money for this game if it's re-released. I mean, really, they should get professional help.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be a retail release, right? I was planning to add the original ones to my collection, but if it's not digital-only I guess I'll wait for the HD re-release.
You know, if there's one thing that makes curious and kind of anxious about the next generation is human characters modelling and animation. After six years, with rare exceptions, they all look kind of "meh" to me. I think we are at that point when what can be achieved is not very impressive anymore, because its basically the same we have been seeing for half a decade, and I can't help but focus on the flaws instead. Anyway, on-topic, nice trailer.
Even though there's a lot of fan hate towards XIII and XIII-2 I really enjoyed the first game and have yet to play the second. However, IMHO, XIII-3 would be nice ONLY IF it really ends this so-called saga and closes this chapter of the series, allowing it to start fresh in the next generation. BTW, a complete edition of FF XIII-2, with all the DLC content would be very nice.
Hum, the plot thickens. I think we're looking at an inevitable end of 2013 launch here. Considering that the first year of a console's life cycle usually isn't very compelling, I think it's safe to assume that I still have two and a half years to fully enjoy my PS3 without feeling the urge to buy a new Sony console.
Rain looks interesting, but come on, a little more creativity on the writing department wouldn't hurt would it? Did the trailer really need obvious, didactic phrases like "The boy's figure can only be seen in the rain", or "a story of an invisible world revealed by the rain". No Sherlock, I could never understand this if you haven't told me.
This is the first game that makes me consider buying a VITA in the near future. Give me more creative games like this and at least ONE good RPG, instead of milking established IPs, and I'm all for it. I, for one, want the VITA to be a system that stands by itself with it's own games, not Sony's excuse to deliver portable versions of franchises that were already sucked dry on the last 6 years.
Tough choice ahead for me. I still haven't bought God of War Collection I and II, but already have GoW III. Moneywise, it would be cheaper to buy this Saga collection, but I don't like the idea of buying III again. Decisions, decisons...
I'm glad for them. People like to bash Capcom these days, but they really seemed to have a vision for this game and it seems they've accomplished it. It's also good to see them investing in new IP. Too bad I have too many lenghty games waiting for me in the shelf, so even if I buy it I won't be playing it any time soon. Sometimes it sucks to be a completionist...
As much as I love ToeJam & Earl, I don't think it has aged so well. As a kid, playing it on my Mega Drive, I didn't even notice, but the characters move at a dreadful slow pace. I find it almost painful to play it nowadays.
It's about friggin' time Sony starts looking at Brazil as a serious market for gaming! Even though I live in Portugal, I'm Brazilian and I can tell you it is much harder to be a gamer and support original products there. In the PS1/PS2 days, everyone had chipped consoles and bought pirated games because the games used to cost a fortune and were downright hard to find. The situation is changing and more and more people are preferring to buy original games instead of pirating them, which is very good for the industry AND for the Brazilian market. It is very clear that the mind frame is changing for both consumers and the gaming industry, There are still some problems, though, namely the heavy taxes that the Brazilian government imposes on games and consoles. But the future is sure looking bright for us Brazilian gamers.
I've arrived so late to the PS3 party that I was never anxious about this game. In fact, only now I'm finishing XIII and still have to play XIII-2. But I'm relieved that it's not dead. In fact, maybe it will be one of those games that, coming out near the end of a console's life-cycle, makes the most of it and surprises us in a way we never thought possible for such an "old" machine. Kind like God of War II did. Let's wait and see.
Well, if there's a thing I'll never spend my money on it's on movie/TV series tie-ins. So many good games out there to waste time with the rushed unoriginal gargabe these things tend to be...
In all seriousness, sometimes I think the console market is REALLY saturated and that the future is not at all bright for traditional console gaming. I mean, I know there's a lot of people defending this thesis, but lately I can't help but wonder if we're not watching the last decade of videogames as we know them. I don't know, people seem less and less interested in new gaming consoles now that they can play games virtually anywhere. Anyway, sorry for the gloomy (and rather obvious) out of topic comment.
Looks fun, but I hope they improve the character models — they look so stiff! Just look at Batman's arms, he looks like a badly articulated action figure.
There's no Atlus Europe, right? Maybe they just don't want to harm the European publisher and decided to make sure that people don't have the choice to import (after all, sometimes it's cheaper anyway). Whatever the reason, sounds like a stupid decision. One of the biggest advantages of the PS3 is the fact that it is not region locked.
2013 is shaping up quite nicely. If it proves to be the last year of the current gen, this generation will go out with a bang.
Also, I hope that the success of the Tales franchise abroad proves to both developers and distributors that there IS a market for JRPGs in the West and that a lot of people miss the genre and wish to see more titles like this.
I have flOw and Flower, but I haven't bought Journey yet. I'm glad I didn't, because I would have a hard time buying the three of them again (not because of the games themselves, but because there are so many games that I want that it feels weird to buy something twice). On the other hand, for me the soundtracks alone would justify the purchase. I'm glad for thatgamecompany, it's so good when great art gets the recognition it deserves.
Well, Alien Breed Trilogy looks interesting to me, despite the somewhat steep price tag. I'll probably get Arc the Lad III also, I'm glad they've decided to bring all three PSOne iterations to the PSN.
@seeafish Well, I have a 320GB slim model that I bought last year and, even though it IS a quiet enough system, it does make some noise. I don't know if it makes any difference, but specially when reading "heavy" games like Uncharted, God of War III and Final Fantasy XIII. Also, there is always a little hum in the background, but you have to be playing a really quiet game in a really quiet place to notice it. That being said, based on what I read I believe it is a lot quieter than the fat models, even though I never saw one "in action".
I bought Episode 1 last month just to finish it before Episode 2 came out (still trying to get that goddman Untouchable trophy though). Instabuy for me.
@get2sammyb I guess you're right, Sammy. Maybe it's just the collector in me speaking. I'm still not even one hundred percent confortable with all this digital download thing, even though I know that's where the future is.
The only reason that keeps me from having Playstation Plus is the fact that you can't keep the games once you stop paying for the service. There will come a time when the PS3 itself will be history and I sure will want to keep the games that I have at the moment. And what if I have to cancel my Playstation Plus subscription and then lose, say, Flower for instance?
I really don't like the facial expressions of the characters on this one. I don't know, they seem so unpolished... like something you would see in the beginning of PS3's life cycle.
@get2sammyb Oh. Didn't realize they were this big in the US. I think GAME is bigger around here, even though all retailers are in bad shape in Europe due to the crysis and all that.
GameStop closed its stores here in Portugal. I don't know how well they're doing in the US, but maybe this is related somehow to these closings abroad...
As much as I also find strange that Sony decided to leave Vita out of this, I'm sure glad that I will not have to buy a new system to play the next GoW.
As much as I love Nippon Ichi, I sometimes refrain from playing their games just because I know that, once I start, I can't help but devote some 200 hours of my life to them. If this is not proof of how good they are, I don't know what is.
I don't see Sony launching the PS4 on a year that they should focus on making the PS Vita strong on the Western markets, specially when cross-play with the PS3 is such a big deal. Why would they invest so much on cross-play with a console they'd plan to make obsolete on the following year? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Anyway, I don't think we'll se a new Sony console until 2014... but we'll find out soon enough.
I bought the Resistance 3 bundle just because it came with the 320GB model, and I couldn't find the 320GB model alone. But I would gladly have bought this red PS3 instead if it were available at the time, since I couldn't care less for Resistance 3 or any other FPS... sigh.
