good for them. Square Enix is best when they stick to their bread and butter = JRPGs. I'm all in for it.
As for Sony acquiring them...well, they certainly would be the best candidate.

@Korgon I feel like 2022 has had alot of good to great strategy RPGs that perhaps Atlus will join in.

Maybe Re Fantasy will end up being a strategy RPG? What kind of game do you think it'll be?

@RudeAnimat0r for reals. I played (most) of Persona (1) and thought it was good. tough but I can see the roots from where the Persona franchise is today (at that point, Persona 3 FES was what I was playing).
Hear good things about P2.

• we'll see if they do any sort of modern updates, heck even a full remake of P1 and P2.

yeah that's what I'm thinking...they'll do a Persona Strikers with either an ensemble cast or maybe just one for each (one for 3 and one for 4).
I don't really want another Persona fighting game, but of course, wouldn't be surprised.

Project Re Fantasy trailer = ends up being a mobile game.

Ys X and ONE PIECE ODYSSEY are currently my most anticipated 2023 games...though Ys will likely get delayed.

Glad I waited on BioMutant. It was one of my most anticipated games before, but when reviews came out and other backlog games piqueing my interest at the time of release, I held off even longer. It's nice to see it being offered on PS Plus.

@RudeAnimat0r yeah most folks that play JRPGs def notice the similarities and just overall feel of this game to that of DQ XI.
I'm all for it. It'll def be the first game I'll play in 2023.

many JRPG fans that wanted to play the Persona series already played it on PS3/PS4 or PSP/VITA when it was originally released.
MS just tryna cater to an audience that they so desperately want (Japanese game fans).
No big deal. stop with the "woe is me" attitude.

just looking forward to Persona 6 when they're ready to share (or when the inevitable leak comes, cuz, you know yay leaks! [sarcasm]).
also, I hope we get to see whatever Project Re:Fantasy is, unless it just got canceled quietly.
I'm not gonna buy Persona 4, but if my JRPG backlog doesn't get to be too much, I might play Persona 3 again.

I wasn't able to play games for 2+ weeks...I'm finally able to catch up to SOUL HACKERS 2. Hoping to beat it this weekend. I'm already at the 24th ward tower and beat one of the bosses (according to the guide I'm using).

Afterwards I'm debating between:
-GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
-GHOST OF TSUSHIMA
-SCARLET NEXUS

Leaks suck, folks pretending to be "insiders" but are really just hackers or aggregate isht to the Nth degree to make themselves seem legit suck...or in this case, break embargo with an alternate account.
Leaks and "Insider" isht don't do anything for the gaming community as a whole except raise unrealistic expectations, spin the hype cycle, and then (sometimes) ultimately result in disappointment/anger from fans, which leads to entitlement and bratty/blame shift attitude.

• Folks who take advantage (negatively) of their opportunities end up falling flat on their face. Respect your opportunities and be thankful for 'em.

insider gaming? finally, a website designed for leaks so they seem more legitimate,
that way, it'll be considered "reports". cool.

I gotta see and feel the game for myself when the demo comes out. Gotta say though, that this franchise needs a re-imagining/revamp asap. Maybe Tri-Ace just needs to work with a new engine, maybe they need more creatives...something. to get this IP moving forward and more modern. The concept of Star Ocean is quite cool, just needs to be, freshened up.

• but hey, hope the game is OK to Decent overall.

@Royalblues I was on the same boat. I was leaning more towards SO:TDF but with this hands on impressions, I'm a lil bit more hesitant.
Guess I'll play the Valkyrie Elysium demo and see for myself.

I wish they let the guy retire and I didn't mind the ending in Yakuza 6. It's ok if things were left how they were.
But hey, at this point, can't do anything about it.

• I'm gonna turn my focus on Takayuki Yagami and the Judgement series instead.

If so, that'll be a no thanks from me.

the Tales or Arise-ing of the Tales series (and not that the old style anime style wasn't great) is exactly what Star Ocean needs to do, or should've done with their upcoming newest entry, and I dont mean just copying what ToA did but just changing up the aesthetic of it all.

That aside, I loved Tales of Arise.

@Korgon haven't had any technical issues either and I'm playing on a PS4 slim. It was my most anticipated game this year and i'm having a nice time with it. The Soul Matrix is a cool concept but the grid style maps of it is a lil much at times. Other than that, really cool characters and the comforts of a JRPG are there. Enjoy!

that would make sense, for it to be an iteration of The Invaders. I hope it leans more on the stylized end, like cell shaded, comic book/cartoon-y feel. instead of the hyper realistic style like Crystal Dynamic/Square Enix Marvel Avengers - I mean, it was fine but something different would be cool.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. the technical stuff etc doesn't bother me much, esp for games like this.

I hope it's not Naruto, but I would enjoy a Bleach game (though not sure what type of game it would be). I could see it being a Jujutsu Kaisen game too. That'd be interesting.

some of the comments on here basically saying that a 7 is disappointing is...disappointing.
if you like JRPGs, we all know that not many JRPGs are gonna be a 9 or 10 out of 10. stop comparing this game to the Persona series or SMT (V to be exact).
