Phil’s job as CEO of Microsoft Gaming isn’t just to run Xbox… I doubt his day to day has much to do with Xbox anymore. But his primary purpose as a CEO is to look at ways to further increase Microsoft presence in gaming which mean potential acquisitions. I’m sure Phil would be fired if he doesn’t make a list like this every once in a while. That all these large companies are designed to do. Sony wasn’t just happy with just having Aniplex… They needed Crunchy Roll and Funimation as well. I mean… Sony just purchased Audeze while already having a perfect good in house audio team.
@Cashews It was more like an hour to travel across map. But that was greatest thing ever. Being able to recreate my IRL car in game and experience driving across the US. Something I would love to do IRL, but the logistics of doing it would be crazy.
@Cashews Usually when people want a game like say burnout paradise… That usually just means that they want a sequel or return of that said game. We’ve seen so many new IP that try and rekindle the love of an old game. But so many fail, and never see a sequel.
It still surprises me that the The Crew had managed to become a breakout success. I remember when I read that the first sold 2 million copies. At the time me and another friend was worried this would just another 1 off game, and the developers would be moved to mine to work on Assassins Creed.
@koffing @carlos82 The fuss of an iPhone being able to run them is cause it a literally phone. An SoC that will probably have a TDP of 8. It not something like laptop parts being shoved into a smaller chassis which is what consoles, and the Steam Deck is. It a bunch mark of how far ARM chips have come. Just like the Steam Deck was a benchmark of how far integrated GPU/APUs have come.
They still haven't bought Genshin Impact to platforms other than PS5 and PS4.... Even tho their promised a Switch version. I don't expect this one to come to other platforms as well.
@Logonogo The game also had the benefit of the UE5 hype. As it was label as one of the first big UE5 game. If you had any interest in game graphic/technology this was on your radar...
“ While this move does come as a surprise, at least Asmussen leaves on a high note. Still suffering from some performance issues”
Performance issues that was his fault. EA gave Respawn the option to delay the game again. And it was his decision to turn that down and release the game as is… But of course everyone is going blame EA, and not him for giving us the worse performing game of the year. Hopefully, who ever replaces him doesn’t do the same thing and we can get a fantastic sequel.
@BacklogBrad Sony: “Today we would like to announce Bloodborne for iPhone 15 Pro. Experience Bloodborne for first time at full 60FPS thanks to the A17 Pro chip available in this year latest top of line iPhone Pro/Pro Max”
@mariomaster96 The battery will definitely be smaller, but an iPhone doesn’t have to run Window 11 and play a game at the same time. ROG Ally also don’t get the advantage of crazy low level optimization that you can only get in extreme closed environments like consoles and Apple products. As well as custom textures detail, LODs, resolution, built in upscaling… etc.
@cragis0001 I don’t think Sony would be interested. I’m assuming the sale of Gearbox Entertainment also mean the sale of the publishing arm, not just the studio. So unless Sony planning on keeping Gearbox Entertainment as an independent entity like Bungie… They’ll have layoff the publishing side.
Plus, I’m sure Sony still have a terrible taste in their month left over from working gearbox on Godfall.
@Sil_Am The industry is Ok, cause no one cares that Microsoft is buying a bunch of terrible publishers that are vastly pass their prime. Only a bunch nerd online that have never felt the touch of a woman care. If anything, the purchases have done nothing but wonders for the industry. It has put lights on some of crazy strong arming tactics that companies have been using. It also allows smaller more talented companies vastly more room to breath. Which bring me to the whole “Microsoft has the western RPG market cornered” continues to be proven false especially with the newest comparison of BG3 and Starfield… Every year more and more fantastic studio are releasing fantastic western style RPGs.
@Dman10 At least since the 90… It just normal stuff like the Empire States building falls under public domain. The Chrysler building was sold to new owners in 2019, and as owners you can copyright the design of the building. The Manhattan White Pages needed permission to depict ''Patience,'' one of the marble lions guarding the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue…
@Bionic-Spencer The issue is that a lot of game has really bad HDR implementation... cough cough Starfield cough cough being the latest offender, so it is going vary from game to game, and the majority of game aren't worth having HDR on. Also, a lot of games actually don't support HDR, so it is relying on PS5 Auto HDR.. You actually have to look online to find what games have good HDR cause the list is so small.
@Deadlyblack I've been hearing it all week with Starfield release... "Oh, it's the usual Bethesda jank that everyone is used to". A studio only gets torn to shreds; if the studio hasn't built up a large enough fanbase or have completely ruined their relationship with their fanbase.
“ ‘Insert developer name here’ games always have that touch of jank” Is the go-to quote of every rabid fanboy
“Yeah but it's 2023 and ‘Insert developer name here’ has released how many games already, there's no excuse for them to not optimize their engine.” Is also the go-to quote for people who disagree with those rabid fanboy.
@RobN I’m just saying it getting harder to judge a game’s actual performance off the eye when you have a ton of modern tools and features like VRR and good motion blur to cover up stutters or fluctuations in frame rate… Now we’re going to have fake frames soon with stuff like AMD’s Fluid Motion Frame tech. That why tech reviews/analysis like Digital foundry is great as they are able to really dig into a game actual performance.
@Jaz007 You don’t see an issue cause you’re looking at the game through whatever post-processing the developer adds on top of what ever nonsense post processing is added from your tv. You need a frame rate tool to bypass all the nonsense and see the actual frame the game running at.
@UltimateOtaku91 Funny part about that. Is the guy who commented wasn’t even apart of the studio who made Gotham knights. He apart of Rocksteady… So he had no room to talk about development issues for Gotham Knights, and is more or less speaking out his butt.
@Savage_Joe “ Every MK game since the PS3 days used the exact same engine until now…”
Don’t know what this really has to do with anything… Most games run on the same engine forever. Last of us 2 is mostly likely still running on the same proprietary engine as Uncharted from the PS3. You just modify the toolset and backend. Mortal Kombat 1 would probably still be using UE3 if Epic probably supported it.
But the game has still seen multiple visual quality enhancements to character model, textures, environments, particle effects, and physics. Not to mention it also runs at 60FPS on all platforms.
I can’t say the same thing about the Naruto games, and it will probably still run at 30FPS PS4/Xbox One. But it fine, these games are meant to be minimum effort, maximum profit. The game will go on to sell 9 million copies
@NarutosBiggestFan It easy to add 130 characters when your game still looks and plays like the last 3 games. Where is the real innovation? Why can’t we get something on the scale of the Lego Skywalker Saga where we play all 3 series attached to a massive detailed world.
I really wish Bandai lost the rights, and we can get Naruto games published by other publishers again. Bandai is putting in so little effort cause idiot anime fans eat this trash up.
Running around extremely detailed world provided in Ubisoft’s Naruto games were the highlight of my childhood, and the only game that come close to matching is kakarot.

MS hasn’t never done well in the game industry, and shareholders haven’t been happy since day 1. As for obscuring Xbox performance by combining them into unrelated divisions… They‘ve always have done that even during the height of the 360.
The only way Xbox is leaving hardware is if there is a change in CEOs at Microsoft, and someone who has no respect for Xbox is put in charge.
Not surprising. I asked a couple of my younger friends the other day about the game, and they are super excited to get it. They didn’t care that it cost $50, or don’t come with modern enchantments. They’re just excited to finally play the game for the first time.
1 platform would be great if said heavily regulated by consumers protection agency. The fact that neither Nintendo or Sony offer a proper refund policy is exactly why I game on PC.

The stockholders had to agree to the purchase, it required a majority vote. So it not just Bobby getting a paycheck, but major companies like Tencent who own shares.
@Cashews IW was never independent from the start. They was founded as an Activision division from the start. Activision paid for the development of the original CoD.

@Rmg0731 “Openly talked about how much they hated the experience”
It been forever since I read anything on Insomniac and Microsoft partnership. But I don’t remember ever reading anything that said that they hated the experience. You have any source to back up this claim
@MaikonCSGarcia There seems to be a big enough want and fan base for these older game to maybe do something more than just a back compact version of the game. Activision will still be somewhat of an independent subsidiary under Microsoft, so it depends on if they to push for a remaster. But Phil also noted that they wanted to revive some of these older games, and pull some studio off of CoD cough High Moon Studios Please cough
But the thing about licensing agreements is that Hasbro can easily push for a PS5 remaster of these games as stipulation for Microsoft to relist them on Xbox. I mean, look at Sony and MLB, if they want to keep using the license. They now have to spend money on making the game for Xbox.
This is why it important we hope that Hasbro cares more for the multiplaform legacy of their games, so we don't end up with an Indiana Jones, Spider-Man, and Wolverine situation (F u Disney)
@colonelkilgore Luckily, Transformer is a 3rd party IP, and anything Microsoft want to do with these games has to go through Hasbro… Hopefully, Hasbro cares more for multiplaform legacy of their games than Disney.
@HonestHick Most people don't care about a refund policy because they argument is buy physical or to just stop pre-ordering games and read reviews.
But I don't care for physical games (unless it for my switch), and I like forming my own opinions on products I buy. Plus, everyone has a different tolerance level for game performance. Jedi Survivor is probably the first time I consider the performance actually trash for a game... and I play a lot of Switch games.
Instead of worry about porting the game to PS4. How about fixing the performance on console and PC? Even as a massive Star Wars fan, i could not push myself to complete it with how bad the performance was in some places... And this was on a PC with a 4090 and an i7-11700k installed to a Samsung 980 Pro. Hell, not even the supposedly broken Last of Us Part 1 ran as bad.
Luckily, steam has a good refund system, and i was able to get my $70 back. This is why Playstation need to work on getting a good refund system.
