What I don't get is why the plot threads in the side quests need to be tied up before the sequel? If anything, these unfinished storylines make me more interested in the sequel, not story DLC
Talk about an ego. This dude really thinks his creation is above the likes of Kratos or Joel and Ellie? And if anything, Astrobot is advertising Days Gone, not the other way around
Sly 1 I find to be the weakest of the three personally but having it playable on current tech is more than welcome. Hopefully we get Sly 2 before the end of the year
@Almost_Ghostly Thanks for the heads up! It said unavailable in the article and I just took it at face value instead of checking since my work wifi locks the Playstation site.
The fact that the announcement was made by Housemarque themselves was a bit of a sign that it wasn't going to be a new game. They would have saved an announcement like that for the next Showcase/State of Play.
I own the game but haven't touched it yet since other games were still coming out but do want to get to it despite the surrounding commotion since I heard the story was good
This was basically a popularity contest. If you took 10 random people off the street and asked them if they knew these characters, Mario would absolutely get 10/10. I can't say the same for Lara Croft
Thank god, I took a break from Rebirth right at the start of the Golden Saucer to play smaller backlog games so knowing I can start again without any worries soon is a relief.
I have never played Alan Wake before since I never owned an Xbox of any flavor. With the reception of Alan Wake 2 though, I am definitely interested but would wanna play the first game and even Control before hand (plus it gives time to see if the publisher changes their mind over a physical release).
8/10. It is more Insomniac Spiderman which is nice but I'd say that it gets old a lot faster than the previous games, at least for me. I got the platinum after 24 hours and I had no desire to keep playing. I think it stems from the side activities being very similar to each other this time around so the gameplay became repetitive relatively quickly for me. Story also didn't hit the same dramatic highs that the first game had. Enjoyed my time with it but would more likely replay the first game over this one.
I'm excited but I'm not that hyped for it. I'm expecting a lot of the big announcements are things that had rumors about them or things we already know. It's the surprises that will decide it for me and since Sony is pushing live-service, I'm not getting my hopes on that front. Expect the worst, hope for the best
@get2sammyb Hmmm, that seems fair, especially if its going for a more DMC-style combat system. I personally don't mind that as I feel Ghost of Tsushima and many turn-based RPGs have a similar problem.
Finally. Safe bet is an official gameplay reveal for Spider-man 2 and Death Stranding 2. A teaser trailer for Factions and maybe for Ghost of Tsushima 2. Maybe the Twisted Metal game. And then a bunch of original stuff like indies and live service games
This showcase feels particularly redundant compared to other marketing cycles. I can't imagine anyone interested in watching a State of Play isn't already interested in Final Fantasy 16. So it basically just splits the demographic into those who want to see more and those who have seen enough. I doubt it's gonna catch the attention of anyone not already in the know
If it also played digital PS4 games, I'd be interested. The streaming by itself is not enticing as if I wanted to play underperforming PS5 games, I'd just the Remote Play app on my phone
Interesting, wasn't expecting an expansion since the game felt like a one-off. I feel like I had my fill after getting the platinum but an expansion to the combat and seeing more of Lim does sound enticing. Will wait for the reviews to decide if I want to come back.
@Orpheus79V I don't believe many people would count side content towards total play time as many people finish the main mission in about an hour. It launched at $40 but quickly dropped to $30 and you are correct in that is was known to be a precursor for The Phantom Pain, I did not recall that part correctly
One Piece Odyssey and SpongeBob have my eyes for some casual fun. I'll check out Forspoken if it reviews decently and will definitely play P3P and Rise during Feb since that's a slower month for me
Comparing to the previous generation, PS4 had 7 games, not including remasters, ports, or rereleases, with 90+ metacritic scores: Persona 5 Royal (it was exclusive at the time) God of War The Last of Us Part 2 Uncharted 4 Bloodborne Shadow of the Colossus Remake and Astrobot's Rescue Mission Additionally, the earliest of these game release was Bloodborne in 2015, two years after the PS4 launched. Re: The Game Awards Will Confirm 2024 Nominees on Monday
@Kingy I forgot about Silent Hill 2 but I think you're right in that it's more likely than Tekken to be nominated
Re: The Game Awards Will Confirm 2024 Nominees on Monday
My guesses would be:
Astrobot
Metaphor
Rebirth
Tekken 8
LoZ: Echoes of Wisdom
and Space Marine 2

Give me one announcement that I am excited for and I'll consider it a win. Hopefully a Rescue Mission port.

@nomither6 Luckily Astrobot is getting a ton of support from the PS community
Re: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2) - Charming PS2 Platformer Can Still Steal Our Hearts
@colonelkilgore I do lament there will likely never be a new inFamous since they have Marvel games coming out

Wheres the, "I tried but was too slow" option?
Re: Elden Ring 'Really the Limit' for How Large FromSoftware's Games Can Be
Elden Ring is such a massive game that it would actually be a turn off if any hypothetical game advertised it was bigger
Re: Concord Is Sony's Answer to Overwatch, Launches August, Beta Test in July
@IOI I should have known better than to think more than Astrobot would have interested me
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for May 2024?
Astro saved it from being terrible for me
Re: Concord Is Sony's Answer to Overwatch, Launches August, Beta Test in July
This entire show felt like it could have been an email

Re: Random: Lara Croft Tops Mario as the Most Iconic Video Game Character of All Time, Apparently
@sanderson72 what partially gets me about this is that Lara Croft was a classic PS1 game while Mario saved console gaming
Re: Random: Lara Croft Tops Mario as the Most Iconic Video Game Character of All Time, Apparently
@sanderson72 Many, yes, but there isn't a single person out there who knows who Lara Croft is but not Mario

Perfect. This will give me a side game to take breaks from Rebirth plus I can get the potential physical release without doubling dipping.

Re: Brush Up on RPG Unicorn Overlord's Complex Battle System on PS5, PS4
I've never played a SRPG before but I feel a self-contained one made by Vanillaware is a perfect entry point.

@Dragoon1994 even worse. They got fired for saying they were looking forward to playing it.

The thing is, I don't remember Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut being called one of the console's major releases the year it came out.

The only reason I still have any interest is for the story, playing the missions early is not a selling point

Persona 5 Royal (it was exclusive at the time)
God of War
The Last of Us Part 2
