@grapetrap seems kind of unfair to compare the witcher's gameplay to elden ring or the souls games, they have very different focuses. Witchers primary concern is clearly story and atmosphere, the souls games favours combat mechanics.
@FatWormBlowsASparky it was popular in UK (and I assume Europe) for a while, but I think it's popularity faded faster in Europe because home computers like the spectrum got really popular over here. The video game 'crash' was an American thing mostly, I don't think there was ever a sudden dip in popularity of video games here.
@Browny i enjoyed 13, eventually, after I got over my initial reservations about the combat. Maybe 16 will be the same but I don't know.. The interviews I've read all feel like they are completely washing their hands of the rpg elements instead of trying to compromise like the previous ones, I really have no interest in a brawler, no matter how good looking.
@KleebanKliban um, a new/improved feature is literally an upgrade isn't it? 🤔 Not that I personally care, the improved load time thing is lost on me, maybe I'm just conditioned after a lifetime of load times, but they don't bother me at all.
@ThaBEN PS4 and ps5 trophy lists tend to be separate, at least in every example I've encountered. So the ps5 version may have its own trophy list. Though it'd take a pretty dedicated turtle fan to buy it twice for that reason.
Lolol, this game about trenchcoat wearing, oversized sword wielding, magic casting, god summoning anime boys is called final fantasy and has its roots in reality, which is why there are no black people in it.
@thedevilsjester I'm not optimistic either, which makes me kind of sad, I've followed final fantasy for most of my life. I've seen enough interviews about how it's going to be different to older games, need to see one about what it's keeping.
@Ryall I do this with some games, I've got an external hard drive for PS4 games, so games that I don't think will benefit much from the extra power I'll install the PS4 version. Though if I did play destiny, I'd opt for the ps5 version in that case.
The ps5 has consistently sold out whatever stock is available in Japan hasn't it? (like everywhere else) It seems a bit odd to assume low sales means low popularity when that continues happening. Its been impossible to gauge ps5's true potential sales.
@TrickyDicky99 like I said mass market adoption and improvements to production have historically reduced the price of stuff. Quest is an anomaly though, Facebook are known to have been selling that at a major loss, probably still are even with the price increase. The quest pro certainly suggests that. Vr is still pretty niche, still experimental, still unproven as to how big an audience it can grab, though it is in my opinion great. If you want to compare to dvds, it's still at the $300 stage.
@TrickyDicky99 I don't think it's that simple, tech doesn't just reduce in price because it's old, something has to bring it down. Mass market adoption, better production methods etc. Stuff in general doesn't seem to fall in price like it used to.
Great game, but I got a little too into it first time and it hurt to walk the next day, felt like I'd pulled muscles in both legs. Not quite as bad as until you fall though, an upwards strike resulted in the removal of a light bulb from its socket.
Don't know if it's been mentioned, but they are sending out 'you have been selected' type emails for preorders. No idea how select it is, but check your email if you are after one.
@Uncharted2007 board games are a relatively safe bet on kickstarter, especially ones from companies who have a track record with them.
They usually cost a ton though.
Edit: there's a slay the spire one recently started too, which I'm really tempted by.
@Robocod outrun is odd. The last `new` release was a ps3 game I think, but that got pulled from sale pretty quickly. The general belief is the ferrari license, but that doesn't stop sega releasing the original game regularly, so maybe that's not the problem.
It's promising words I guess, but like mentioned, without a contract promises are certainly not binding. The British in particular might be distrustful of promises because of the broken promises of the Cadbury buyout several years ago.
Seems a bit unfair to demand a huge change to the physical industry just because of one unfortunate incident. Are there any other examples of this? (no last of us doesn't count, that wasn't a physical disc escaping)
@arra1213 I've always found it a bit odd why people single this out as an 'on the go' game. I guess it's the day system, but that really doesn't make it any more 'on the go' than any other game.
Persona 5 was clearly something special even from the original trailers. Though I personally am understanding if it takes time for a translated version to get out, its a game made in Japan with a ton of text, it doesn't bother me if I have to wait longer than the place it is actually made in.
@Titntin video game discs are highly reusable, people generally don't throw them away, they either store/collect them or sell/donate them, they aren't on the same level as single use plastic for food and drink etc as far as waste is concerned. Downloading a game is a small carbon footprint too.
I bought a jaguar from game for £10! Never actually played it though, it wouldn't even switch on without a game in it, which I didn't have. They were clearing loads of games at like £10-20, which I didn't buy because they seemed expensive at the time. Oh hindsight.
@DiggleDog I don't think pc gamers had a lot of choice but to go digital, physical products simply stopped appearing in stores. It's unknown how much impact that had on the pc user base, maybe it'd have grown a lot quicker if they were available, maybe not.
Metropolis Street racer (dreamcast) was the first game I remember that really impressed me with convincing streets. Aged fairly well to, last time I tried it. Everybodies gone to the rapture isn't set in any real english village as far as I know, but gives a really good feeling of being in one.
I've never actually considered to be a loading mechanic before, yeah sure elevators are the famous one, but I can't remember a game where boosting or crawling is an obvious load mechanic.
Prob worth mentioning that the original code Veronica is only 3.99 in the halloween sale. Though I was surprised to discover that its a direct ps2 port rather than the more polished (if I recall correctly) ps3 version.
I notice the difference when switching from one to the other, but playing a 30fps game for a short period and I soon forget it's even an issue. Sure it would be nice 60fps,but it would be a huge shame to have the later period of a consoles life held back by it.
@Stevey_Mac didn't code Veronica (original dreamcast) come out at the same time, or very close to playstations resident evil 3? I remember playing code Veronica first, going back to the playstation to play 3 felt like a bit of a downgrade at the time.
Slightly off topic, but second hand ps3s are pretty cheap at the moment. Like £50, and half of that price is the controller, as they sell for like £20 individually. The only way is up for them I'd imagine. The games are a mix though, some bargains and some creeping upwards.
Edit : one thing I'd personally really enjoy, is if you owned ps premium, you could download the games you can stream onto an actual ps3. I doubt it'd be that hard to implement as it's all still linked I assume. Prob not mainstream enough for Sony to consider worthwhile though.
@IndoorEnthusiast it's odd, expensive niche peripherals that most people wouldn't buy have been around forever, usually unnoticed by most people who wouldn't care. I guess it's today's age of reporting on everything and anything that is bringing them to the wider public eye
The hacked emulator sounds like bigger news than just pt, though I personally wouldn't touch it, moral questions aside it sounds like a sure fire way to get your ps5 ban bricked.
There is a market for expensive controllers, my brother plays on pc and spends insane (to me) amounts on 'pro' stuff for that. Even consoles, the arcade sticks for fighters are priced really high, and they hold their value second hand so people out there must be prepared to pay out.
Assuming that they aren't adding even more dlc (which wouldn't surprise me), I guess this could at least be considered the complete version.
Maybe in a couple years I'll feel like playing again and pick it up, certainly too soon for me to play again yet though.
I usually stream from my TV, it's like 5 years old and only cost about £300 back then, surprising that smart tvs aren't everywhere by now. Though I do listen to music videos on YouTube through ps5 sometimes because of the headphone socket in the controller.
@Martsmall that appears to be quite the daily work schedule, even if you have figured out a routine. It's not something the average person is going to want/be able to do.
@Martsmall I have no knowledge of Microsoft rewards, and therefore cannot really argue back, but common sense leads me to believe that the average person would not be able to fund their gamepass subscription with it. That would be ridiculous, Microsoft would be broke.
Kind of suits me oddly, PS4 games can be installed onto my cheap external hd, and like many have mentioned, I really doubt current gen is going to be able to add anything of interest to these games.
@rjc-32 I don't remember much (anything?) of 2 to be honest. 1s got super memories, the game that sold me the ps1 and type 4s amazing graphics and that weird but cool controller are the two I remember strongly.
@Happyposter it's a playstation based site, what do you expect? Why are you even reading it if that isn't to your taste. There's plenty of other sites that favour other systems.
