@Totheteeth While I can understand your frustration at crossover characters stealing the show (I do agree Rambo was a weird choice), all three of these characters would fit right into the world of Mortal Kombat. Especially Omni-Man and Homelander. Look up compilation scenes with either of these two on youtube and you would see that it's not that farfetched of an inclusion. Possibly Peacemaker too but I havent seen the show, just his role in The Suicide Squad.
@Sil_Am That was my plan too, but I'm genuinely curious how you'll feel once you reach the actual "Forbidden West" part. Because I was gungho about it until about 15 hours? Then there's a moment where the map pops up after you reach it, and the area is revealed to you, and it's supposed to be this moment of, "Oh my God! The adventure is just beginning! Look at all of these things I can explore!" And instead, it was just exhausting to me lol. But then again, a lot of people, even in this article alone, seem to enjoy it so it might not put off everyone.
@KundaliniRising333 Yeah agreed. I downloaded it when it came to Extra because I loved the first one. I don't know what changed whether it's because I got older or just the way gaming is now or the size of my backlog, but when it got to the part where the map opened up, I was like, "Nope" and turned it off. Seeing all those icons was just way too overwhelming and I could feel the timesink flash before my eyes.
Well that's obnoxious... I have the game and two of the expansion passes. So I basically have to buy it all again and meanwhile we're not even getting the sequel... I think I'll pass.
Seriously hoping that between this, Avengers and others, that this is the beginning of the end for the live-service gold rush. Sick of potential great games being frankensteined into fortnite because... money.
I was just having a conversation with a friend about video games in general when they brought up "that space game that made all these promises and wasn't worth the time". Then they told me they hadn't played it since the release.
Man it was such a cool moment having them over and showing them what No Man's Sky has become. Greatest video game redemption story of all time.
It came out during a terrible time so it got lost in all the sauce. There was just too many highly anticipated games that came out at the same time as this one.
I'm looking forward to playing it but now that it's here, it seems disappointing. The gameplay was what had me looking forward to it, but if it takes a while to get to the good spells, I'm hoping it's not a total slog to get there. Still plan on buying it but it's moved to "wait for sale" for me.
Hoping Square Enix takes the inspired magic combat system and puts it to use in either a sequel, remake or another game. Everything they showcased just seems like it'd go to waste otherwise.
I'm a magic lover and a gamer who skims through the story these days (Unless they're cinematic showpieces like God of War), so as long as the combat's fun and the magic is varied, I'm sold. I'm one of the few who really enjoyed the demo. My only criticism at the time was that traversing up walls was clunky. Which does break the flow
Good for them. I was telling my nephew about a time where console games and mobile games used to just be full games with nothing else attached. Now games have dlcs, active services, battle passes etc. And mobile games are just ads with a small game attached. Nice to see that they made an incredible game and are going to leave it at that.
@Mauzuri Review embargos are different for every product. Some people believe it's a bad sign if the embargos are really close to the release because it's a possible sign that it's a bad product and that the directors or creators don't want the reviews to affect the sales. So if they lifted the embargo long before the game's released, to me, that means the game developers are confident in their product and want us to get hyped for it.
@nessisonett Exactly this. I was huge into it but got tired of hearing all the toxic and bigotted language. I heard they fixed it since then but it left SUCH a bad taste in my mouth that it's a no.
Been a die-hard Sony fan since the PS1. But yeeeeah, this is what happens when companies get to the top and stagnate. What they need is a fourth console to come out and shake up the market, or for Xbox to rise definitively to the top. Seems like Sony's getting content with sitting on their haunches.
Yeah the demo gave me this weird feeling of, "This feels fun-ish? But kind of dull at the same time? How is this possible?" Doesn't help that the color grading is very PS3 era gray
@mariomaster96 Oh yeeeeah, forgot that embargoes have potential legal implications added to it. Because this story was about clout, I was thinking about it purely through the lens of online ramifications haha.
@mariomaster96 Sad thing is, nothing's going to happen other than him losing his access to games prior to release. Youtube's been around long enough to where we can see how this whole thing works. He has 189k subscribers, they're not going anywhere because his videos are basically let's plays; his fans probably don't care about this. And in a few months, the people who do care are going to forget. He's basically too big to fail
What was the endgame here? This was inevitably going to end badly.
Step One: Gain popularity by leaking insider information
Step Two: Lose insider information because you broke the rules
Step Three: Lose the new followers who came for the insider information because you no longer have reliable insider information.
Looking at the list and the announcements of delays into 2023 over the year has been making my brain repeat the "It's too many SLICES!" Tiktok sound in my head.
@zupertramp Yeeeeah. I get the "woke" criticism for things like She-Hulk, where the first episode she chews her cousin out for controlling her anger when as a woman she has to control her anger constantly. Moments like that feels like the writers pulling out a soapbox.
But it feels like the "woke" criticism for this game is that she's a black girl who's super meta. Never seen her saying anything even remotely close to talking about her identity or her political stances or her orientation. She just exists as a main character.
Whaaaat? You mean there's more to video games than just the dialogue? 😱
Snark aside. This is one of my most anticipated games and I was blown away that people declared that the game was going to be horrible because the dialogue is bad. Meanwhile, I'm over in the corner screaming, "But do you see all of-" waves arms wildly "THAT!?" Glad the hands-on impressions are showing promise 😂
@Finozzi1696 ok, I've gotta ask because I've seen people say this and it doesn't make sense to me. What does this even mean? "Going woke" usually means being more inclusive right? So being more welcoming and including POC, LGBT and women right?
So how in the world do you go broke when you go from catering one demographic to catering to a ton? That's including, but not limited to gay people, bisexual people, lesbians, women, black people, white people, Hispanic people, Asian people, Native people, I can go on and on. Makes absolutely no sense mate.
@Mad001 The first one's not indicative of where Saints Row is now. By Saonts Row 3, they completely veered off of the GTA clone formula. In Saints Row 4, you have superpowers and basically fly around the city to The Boys are Back in Town 😂
I tend to agree with this review, pacing DEFINITELY could have been better in some areas. But it shouldnt be lost or understated where Robert said the kid/Digimon dynamics is the highlight; I dont tend to like Visual Novels (But then again, I havent played one since the DS, so maybe theyve improved) but Digimon fans should definitely check this out.
The best Digimon stories tend to explore the relationships in the Digimon/Human partners and how the Digimon complement their personalities with digivolutions reflecting their growth. This game goes all the way with it to a degree that (I don't think this is spoiling because it was advertised) some of the digimon/human partners straight-up don't like each other and the game explores the ramifications of that.

@AdamNovice Same. I don't care how good this game is/looks, I've never liked the MOBA system of having to purchase characters to fully enjoy the game. @nookie_egg Digimon World Next Order is one of my all-time favorite games. That being said, it DOES have a grind issue and you can't run (Like there's no button to make you move faster). It's a large open world game where if you like the Digital World, then it's a ton of fun having your digimon partners run/float next to you. However, it's based off the original Digimon Tamagotchi/Digimon World 1 concept where the focus is on raising and breeding your partners. So because of that, your digimon die and are reborn a lot.

Frustrating for sure if you're an Xbox owner though.
Re: Diablo 4 Will Be a Full Price Release with Premium Cosmetic Items and Expansions
@rjejr Well there's a reason why I said, "Felt unfinished"; it was a very particular word choice on my part. I'm talking about an intentional practice of selling something unfinished with the intention of selling it back to consumers to make some more change. It's also why I said, "Depending on the game it's fair criticism". I don't have a bone to pick with games that are high quality and complete that decide to sell extra content to the fans. My problem is when games are incomplete and/or rushed and the developers opt to sell the parts of the game that make it complete. That's scummy practice.
