Re: DAYYYTONA! Watch Gran Turismo 7 PS5 Gameplay of the International Speedway

ChromaticDracula

I’d hate to be this person but I’m very upset right now… I am watching the rear-view mirror on the car and I’m (still) seeing things disappearing in the background. Like… the opposite of pop-in.
Gran Turismo has always had this in their games and I totally understand why but I thought for sure it wouldn’t be present this generation. It’s me I know looking for tiny details but I think tiny details are they things that really immerse someone.
Oh well, still buying it but it’s hard to unsee… maybe it’ll be corrected/fixed at some point I dunno.

Re: Sony Removing PS Now Subscription Cards in UK Ahead of Supposed PS Plus Overhaul

ChromaticDracula

THE ONLY reason I’d subscribe to NOW is to play the silent hills and metal gear solids on my PS5. I’m sure there are a few others too but that’d be it. I realized it was “cloud gaming” real quick and shot my own hopes down. I won’t do cloud gaming.

I’m one of “those people” on Switch that will not be playing Kingdom Hearts Cloud Version for that reason. My internet is just not up to what it should be for worry-free gaming on cloud stuff.
Anyway, if they bundle Now in, I’d be okay with paying for Plus and having Now as a cool little add-on for a few bucks more.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Resident Evil Village

ChromaticDracula

I thought the game was good but really didn't love it. Didn't even come close to being in my top 3 games in PS5 and I'm a fan of the Resident Evils. I actually agree A LOT with @BritneyfR_ee in that it moved way too fast. I expected Lady Dimitriscu [sp?] to be the main enemy but she was gone in a flash. I was okay with that as a whole because she was terrifying but... yeah.

I've also always had an issue with Resident Evil in that they are made to be so realistic on a lot of fronts but then there you are pumping crates of ammo into some enemies. It's frustrating because you already have limited ammo the way it is... ugh... yeah, so all in all, it's a great game but in my opinion, not worthy of top 3 even. Personally, my top game is Death Stranding: DC...

As far as Resident Evils, I'd love another entry akin to Resident Evil 2/3 remakes. Talk about sheer terror.

Re: Elden Ring Dev Feels the Heat of Demon's Souls' Sumptuous PS5 Remake

ChromaticDracula

I’m happy they’re not going in graphics-first. I’m playing Dark Souls 2 (PS4) at the moment and that has some of the best lighting I’ve ever seen in a game. The light rays, and especially the torches and light-casting are insanely good.
I’m happily playing and enjoying it on my PS5 with backwards compatability.
If Elden Ring is as good as even Dark Souls 3 on PS4, and it surely will be, I’m set.
I think us FromSoftware fans can all agree these games are story, music/sound/voice, and lore/universe/atmosphere first and as long as that’s in place, I think we’re in for a real treat come February.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Remake, Remaster, or Re-Release of 2021

ChromaticDracula

I have a tough time choosing between Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding but ultimately went with Death Stranding… that game.. that game is just bonkers amazing… I know it’s not for everyone but it’s the only open world game that keeps, and is keeping, me hooked. It’s so relaxing going from point A to point B and the weather system and graphics are mind blowing. My bonus points are going toward the reduced load times even though Ghost is damn near INSTANT. In fact I’ve never seen a game load as fast as Ghost does, especially when fast traveling. It’s insane.

Re: Best PS4 Horror Games

ChromaticDracula

You left off VISAGE! That game, although executed poorly at times, is perhaps in the top 5 for me. It’s held back to some strange gameplay design choices… but it consistently is creepy and once things “click” it takes off a bit more.
Also, I absolutely LOVE Soma…

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Achieves 'Tangible' Realism on PS5 with Haptics, Ray Tracing, More

ChromaticDracula

A racing game will be truly next-gen for me when I don't see a lick of pop-in, especially when looking in the driver's seat rear-view, and when the dust trails going over dirt sections actually look real and stick around in the air for a bit. Same with the tire mist from rain. When they fade and just disappear it sort of ruins it for me. Dirt Rally 2.0 did a great job and maybe is the most convincing trails I've seen yet.
Can't wait to see how this game turns out! Who am I kidding, I'm buying it anyway!

Re: Splinter Cell Remake Officially Announced, Not Open World

ChromaticDracula

See ya'll in like...2024-25.... I'm so happy it's coming though. I'll take the original trilogy on Switch now, please. Or PS4/5. (I have it on PS3 digitally but have long since gotten rid of my PS3.)

My favorite Splinter Cell to this date is Chaos Theory. The gameplay was phenomenal and so was the soundtrack, which was done by Amon Tobin. That, to me, was the best version of Splinter Cell we ever had. If we get Chaos Theory style but with lots of improvements, I'll be stoked.

EDIT: ...and I sort of hope they ditch Michael Ironsides. I have nothing against him but to really "remake" the series, we gotta start anew, otherwise people will be confused as that where this one takes place. If we start fresh with someone new, they can nuke and pave a way for a whole new world.

Re: Hands On: FromSoftware Puts Its All into Elden Ring

ChromaticDracula

Dark Souls is the only From Software series that really clicked with me. I know im about to piss a lot of people off right now but Bloodborne didn’t do it for me. I didn’t care for it… I’m willing to admit it may have been largely due to the FPS (coming from Dark Soups with 60). I’m willing to try it again if we get a PS5 upgraded version for sure.
Point being: I am so freaking excited to get another “Dark Souls” game with swords and magic and … ugh yeah this looks so good. Hopefully the FPS stutters get corrected though. I’d still play it of course but that kind of stuff is distracting from an otherwise amazing experience.
EDIT: (And I loved Demon Souls but felt Dark Souls was better with the one single world rather than warping to each level.)

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Call of Duty: Vanguard?

ChromaticDracula

@Would_you_kindly LOL that is hilarious.. "Let's Install" is a hilarious idea. Jeeeezzzz... an hour and 14 minutes. This is precisely why I switched over to....Switch.... for a while. I got so sick of those massive installs. Sometimes I only have an hour to play games and when this happens it's like.. why even bother.

Re: Call of Duty: Vanguard's PS5, PS4 Story Trailer Will Get Your Pulse Racing

ChromaticDracula

Really wanted to see some gameplay... I watched the gameplay trailer at the one Geoff show awhile back but by now I'm looking to see some more gameplay scenes. Seeing these cinematics are cool, but if we're being honest, games on N64 had cinematics too. I want to see the damn game. At least some gameplay mixed in. Anyway, I'll check it out at some point. Most interested in the solo campaign.

Re: Best PS4 Metroidvania Games

ChromaticDracula

All credibility went out the window when Dead Cells made the list (how dare you call it a Metroidvania—it is not) and you left out Bloodstained. Like, seriously what were you thinking?

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the New Saints Row?

ChromaticDracula

Honestly, I hated how they played that whole video thing before showing the gameplay. I got frustrated about halfway through and was like.. this is a game right? Show some damn gameplay!

Then they did of course but that was not a positive experience. Otherwise, the game looks cool… graphics were looking snazzy

EDIT: never played a saints row game and honestly don’t think this new one is going to change that. The older I get the further I stray from open world games. I can’t even get into Spider-Man on PS4/5 and that’s supposed to be a system-seller.
I’ll check this Saints Row out as we go along, but as of now, no intention to buy.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Resident Evil Village?

ChromaticDracula

@Nepp67 I know I know… it’s a crappy thing to point out. I will say I thought being able to see your own breath in your flashlight at night was awesome. I thought that was a really nice touch that pulled me in. Then I got close to a branch and I was like “oh yeah, this is a video game.”
It kinda took me out of that otherwise amazing atmosphere.
It’s a crappy thing to point out I know but one that would’ve went a long way to really drive home that scary atmosphere in the opening moments. I’d still give it an 8 at this point though! Definitely a great game so far.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Resident Evil Village?

ChromaticDracula

I’m about 4 hours in (on PS5) and honestly am a little disappointed in some of the graphics. Specifically the branches you walk through that can get close to the screen. I expected them to crack and bend and not be all boxy/pixelated up close. It doesn’t feel next gen enough for me. I probably sound like a huge dousche for making that comment but I expected this game to be truly next gen, not just a graphics and fps bump in the world of resident evil.
Everywhere else the graphics are honestly great but some of the little things are a bit of a let down. I also almost rage quit a few times in the beginning. Like another said, it totally takes me out of those quick moments when you have to keep replaying and figuring out where to run and what to do. Over and over if you keep dying. :/
I’d give it an 8 so far.

Re: Konami Pulls Out of E3 2021, Says 'Key Projects' Are Still in Deep Development

ChromaticDracula

I’m willing to give Konami the benefit of the doubt. Even though I can list a long… list… of negative things they’ve done. Still, there’s an even bigger list of positive things and I feel like I owe it to them to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I’ll sit quietly now and wait for their announcement. (Please be silent hill and metal gear, oh and a new Castlevania or symphony of the night for switch, or a collection vol. 2. So, anything MGS, SH, Castlevania.)
