I absolutely LOVE Death Stranding (both 1 and 2). But for as much as I do, Cronos needs more attention. That game was seriously one of the coolest experiences ever and should’ve made this list.

@Scottyy what was wrong with SH2? Are you referring to the issues I read about for the Pro version?
I played through 2 on a launch pS5 and it was flawless. MGS on the other hand only “stuttered” during that final motorcycle area. Both were near perfect 🤷

I wanted badly to vote for Yooka… but I haven’t played it yet. I’m waiting for my eventual Switch 2 purchase because that’s the system I want to play it on.
So MGS got my vote. I enjoyed that so much…

@LifeGirl AI is ruining, or slowly eroding, the human instinct and process. Start to rely on anything for too long for too many things, then take it away and watch chaos ensue.
Example: Try to have the average person navigate across a city without using GPS. AI is not something that should be used so liberally. It has its uses, but people are relying on it way too much, which is cutting out core human functions, and that’s a problem. I thibk people arguing against AI don’t want to see society collapse and don’t want it, or anything, forced on them. I think that’s fair.

@get2sammyb ooohhh gotcha, thank you. I vaguely recall it being a big deal when Apple announced they had “the rights” or something. That’s pretty cool; It seems Sony had Apple are overlapping yet again. I was surprised to see Sony worked on Apple’s Pluribus show (phenomenal if you haven’t watched yet)

Didn’t Apple just buy Peanuts for Apple TV a few years ago?? Now Sony is buying??

Death Stranding 2 and Cronos are my top 2. Utterly amazing games. MGS 3 was also memorable for me. Great year!!

This is exciting. I’m glad someone is stepping up and trying to do the right thing here. Gets me so mad how Rare was acquired and then just left to rot.

TAKE NOTE AI DEFENDERS: this is PURE laziness and why there is so much hate. Why support a product, that you pay for, that someone pushed a button on a creation machine and didn’t even bother to check the result before publishing it. Zero Quality control, seemingly zero f’s.

On the silver lining side, at least they were up front about it. I hate getting excited about a game only to find out it was plagued with AI art. It’s exhausting lately having to research every purchase about where your money is ending up and what you’re ultimately supporting.

Dude, no… if this is a thing, I’m out. And Sony HAS TO be seeing claims like this. All they have to do is put out a statement and be up front about whether they are or are not doing this. Just be honest and they’ll find a lot less people disgruntled.

Just picked this up a few days ago and the game is incredible. Bloober knocked it out of the park AGAIN. The traveler you play as has some of the coolest immersive dialogue I’ve ever heard and when you meet another similar character it’s even crazier hearing them chat to one another. This is one of the most unique experiences I’ve had in a video game. Highly recommended if you like Dead Space and the RE remakes!

I’m excited and I’m comfortable paying full price: it’s a remake with fully revamped graphics, QOL improvements, new voice acting… it’s a new game and it sounds like it was rebuilt almost from the ground up. To me that equals a full price game.
The lack of multiplayer doesn’t bother me too much because I didn’t plan on playing it all that much anyway even though I played the crap out of it back in the day with friends. For as much as I would love to do it again I know I just won’t have the time to do it. Maybe the eventual second one will have it included, which was basically the first one’s but vastly improved.

This is wild to me. The whole reason I ever ditched Xbox back in the day was because they were charging for Xbox Live so that I could log into and access my Netflix account at the time.
I’m not an online gamer and the thought that I had to pay money to access the subscription I was already paying for was a no-no.
I haven’t owned (or even played!) an Xbox since 360. I still don’t pay for online gaming (however I do pay Nintendo for the NSO stuff. It’s pretty cheap overall.)

Omg it’s happening… I wished for this so bad. This is a major milestone in my life playing through the original, jumping from N64 to PS2 to GameCube to Xbox. It wa mind blowing. I wish the original version was available too, perhaps as an unlockable, but I’m going to eat this remake up regardless. WISHLISTED!

@get2sammyb I think one solution would be to release the remake with an unlockable original version after you complete the remake. I love when games do that... It not only honors the original vision and pleases diehards but also allows you to see the thoughtful changes that were made when comparing with the remake. I'm probably dreaming though! That would be a huge ask but would be well worth it for sales making a splash.

Nothing, NOTHING, will beat gameplay with a light gun for these games. That being said, gyro on Switch was quite enjoyable for what it was. Part of me wishes someone would just make a damn light bar USB peripheral that plugs into the dock. Sony/Nintendo needs to build that functionality into their system so it can accept light bar USB peripherals. Why is that not possible? It seems like a no brainer and would open up an entire library of possibilities for light gun arcade games. My dream is to have the OG arcade house of the dead with light gun support on a home console. 🤤

I think I’m clocking out this generation. I have a switch 1 and ps5 an I have all the games I could want. I feel like I’m in the minority here but honestly, what would I need a PS6 for? Ports of these current gen games that haven’t even reached the full potential of the PS5? Death Stranding 2 is maybe the best looking game besides Last of Us and Horizon. Silent Hill 2 is also a looker. Otherwise I’m playing mostly games that are not based on eye popping visuals and that focus on gameplay over graphics.
I’m happy where I’m at avoiding buying a Switch 2, PS5 Pro, and the eventual PS6.

I’m very tempted by this… I don’t have a switch 2 yet but I think I’d probably play it more on there because of the ability to go handheld.
Though, will this double pack be released on switch 2…. 🤔

Why?! Of all the collabs that can be done, why silent hill?! Nier automata, ninja gaiden, dead space, fatal frame, hell, even Luto or freaking Tony hawk. Why silent hill? Please don’t let this be a silent hill collab. It’s always 3 steps forward two steps back with silent hill. (Save for SH2 remake, it’s absolutely amazing)

Looks really cool but I don’t think I have it in me anymore to just endlessly wail on enemy grunts for hours. It’s kind of why I couldn't play the new god of wars, the newer Resident Evil games (enemies are utter bullet sponges), etc. I like things to be just a tad more realistic. I’m slicing enemies with a sword so I expect them to cut up a little easier is all.
I think I’m just not the market for this type of game anymore and I hate admitting that.
I also wish the white room would stay stained with red blood a little longer though haha would love that white room to change to completely red after so I can turn around as I leave and be like “oh sh*t I did that”
That’s next gen in my eyes. Game looks awesome though! Very stylish.

I just rolled the credits last night. Only ever beat the game one time, and that was back in PS2 so I was ecstatic to see all of it again with these updated graphics.
On PS2, the game felt very muddy to me and visually it was hard on my eyes so it was hard for me to understand little subtleties and quite frankly, the story.

It made much more sense to me this time and I understood it all. It’s probably my favorite one now, replacing my all-time favorite, 2.
Never experienced any slowdown or stuff that people are bandwagon-hating on except for the ending sequence with the high-speed motorcycle stuff. Absolutely still playable but if I had to pick one spot where I noticed it, it was there. The other 99% of the game was phenomenal. I can only hope they give 1 and 2 the same treatment!

This infuriates me. They want the IP but literally don’t want to make anything with the IP. They’ve been just sitting on this for years. Make your damn minds up! Why don’t they just give it to someone else to do something with instead of just sitting, like Castlevania.

The people saying it’s unplayable are nuts. How is it unplayable? I’m at the final sequence now and it’s been an absolute joy. I actually can’t wait to beat it so k can jump right back in. I’m on a base PS5, and as far as settings, I chose to prioritize graphics. Some of y’all need to just make your own decisions instead of bandwagoning the loud minority online.
My whole point is that you’re missing out on what will probably end up being one of the best releases this year.

I mean, I’m watching it either way, but “James” looks jarring for sure. Not the same kind of vibe but it’s only a 40 second trailer. Definitely looks like a sequel to the first which is a good thing!

That being said, for the folks that want a 1:1 remake of a remake of a game, go play the game then. I’m open to seeing how they adapt this to film with changes. The games will be canon, the movies will be as if the story was passed down from generation to generation.

…ugh, I really want to go back and play 2 remake again now but Death Stranding 2 really has me by the … well, yeah.

I have no desire to play this game again. I’m very glad it’s available for those who never got to dabble, but I can’t deal with the no-neck muscle head characters anymore. Just rubs me the wrong way in this day and age.
Wake me up when we get the Halo lot!

Yeah but like hear me out: part of me always liked the cutscenes just a liiiiiiittle bit more than the gameplay in MGS games, rather, I looked forward to the cutscenes, no matter if they were long or short.
I welcome it: any other game I’d be skipping, but the Kojima games, they’re done so well.

All I read was, “we’re out of touch but willing to finally listen.”

Death Stranding 2 is the GOAT and my GOTY. Anything else from him is just icing on the cake. Only other thing I’ve been playing on my off time is Castlevania: Circle of the Moon lol.

I absolutely adore Hexen. Never played Heretic… that’s about to change!

All I want right now is Halo! Haven’t played any of them other than 1 and 2 and it’s been YEARS since I played 2. Not sure what the consensus is on the others but I’m dying to play 1+2 again and try the others when they hopefully release on PS.

This one is on my list! Time Extension reported on it March 2024. Over Jump Rally is another one that looks promising but no news on that one for awhile.
Both of these have my full attention!

It’s going to be real hard to put down Death Stranding 2 but I’ve also been dying for a proper RS: Vegas rerelease or something at least like it for years! It’s at the top of my list at the moment.

I treated this review like a recipe site and jumped right down to the bottom to read the score you gave.
I don’t want to spoil anything for myself as this is my number 1 anticipated game this year. I’ll come back and read the actual review once I’ve put some time in to see if it lines up with my own thoughts. For now, I have my early access copy installing and I’m way beyond excited to get started! Other comments suggest the game is more of the same and to that I say GOOD! Best of luck out there, porters!

Price is the only reason I don’t own one. Would love to play Gran Turismo though! Maybe one day in the future if there’s another deep sale like that one time….. that’s a huge maybe.

@Lavishturtle sounds like you personally never played it, considering you’re saying it’s not even a game while it very much is exactly a game.

As a fan, I’m excited to see where this universe goes. I also loved Raised by Wolves (in my eyes, even the intro to the show was hitting me in the feels.)

I keep picturing the animated piece mentioned in this article looking like that 90s show “Reboot” LOL

I’m drooling… I cannot wait for this! It feels like I’m getting ready to go on vacation in this world but it’s going to be far from it. One of the only games I’m actually looking forward to the story and know it’s going to deliver.

Amazing. For as much as I love 2, and believe me, I absolutely adore it and the remake, the first one was always way more scary to me.
The second was psychological, the first was scary just from walking down hallways and just looking at the environment. I’m so excited for this but I also dread the wait. I feel like it was a chore to wait so long for the second remake (was so worth it) but this is going to be another patience test 😩

I hope they keep the little sound effects that would happen randomly and figure out a way to keep the cinematic camera angles on certain scenes. Don’t know how that would translate though if it’s going to be 3rd person again.
Nonetheless, I don’t care, I’m here for whatever they serve up!

I think this looks INSANELY good. I’m all for it and will be buying day one if it continues the positive momentum.
