@WildFireV6 "A 10 is ridiculous" then proceeds to score it a 9. So it wasn't thaat ridiculous after all. Jokes aside I agree that the story is very weak, but not sure if it hurts so bad in this game to take a full point away. It's clearly not the focus. I think of it like a Mario, Astro Bot, Sports or even Shooter games that don't rely on a good story to be considered a 10 on what they do. Yes, my all-time favorite games had amazing stories, but I acknowledge that certain categories don't require a great story to be an imperfect 10 as @AhmadSumadi mentioned
There are real people voting Abysmal????
That only happens when a game is a console exclusive and the other platform's little haters come crying, or when the game kind of has some 'inclusion'. So it must be the later, small people that don't know that the franchise's previous games featured either 2 men or a mix (And nobody complained). Otherwise Abysmal makes no sense if you played the game.
Also, complaining about it not having single player is like complaining about Fifa/2k not having a battle royale mode....
I see a lot of people complaining, as usual, but I am actually satisfied. Prince Of Persia will be added to my backlog now. Once I finish playing both Jedi: Survivor and Split Fiction which I just started last weekend, this is next.
@Bobobiwan same thing happened at home. First and only complain that I agree with. Having played the games I really enjoyed the series, but if you didn't then I can see the lack of impact. The structure, specially around the last 2 chapters felt rushed for me. It looks like they want to avoid this by breaking the second game in 2-3 seasons... but even this could turn for the worst. ~+80% of the second game happens during 3 days and even though the game was much longer than the first, storywise I am not sure how they will be able to extend it so much without overstaying its welcome. 3 seasons total would be just ok imo, with the 2nd one ending on the theater scene and change of POV. 4th is unnecessary.
Came here to complain about Cyberpunk (2.0) being so low.... But was surprised by the top 12 not making me too mad after all.
Still think it is better than at least 5 of those games ranked better, but could hear an argument in favor of most of them.
Top 15 is definitely stacked. Above that...meh
"Yes, I'll always try to see and do everything the game offers" Used to be my motto, but with more and more Open World games with so many dumb and boring side tasks, I find no point in doing them anymore (Yes I am looking at FFVII Rebirth repetitive check lists and specially BOTW/TOTK Koroks to name a few). Definitively not doing them for a useless "Platinum Trophy".
Content should be fun, not just added for the purpose of making the game longer.
@Juanalf Maybe this is the one that at first sight (We still have to see the official specs) has the least changes from the previous gen. But going from NES to SNES and from Wii to WiiU at first sight was not that much of a change either imo.
@MrPeanutbutterz well yes, you summarized it better than anyone and I can agree.
I still think Nintendo doesn't intend to compete directly and want to do their own thing. But there will be months when I will have to choose between a Nintendo and a Sony game and because one takes market from the other, it is a competition. Some times the competition will be even more direct when 3rd party multiplatform games are released for both platforms and push the hardware sales forward.
But the competition is less direct than against Xbox for sure. I can have both PS and Nintendo. But it is either Xbox or PS in my case at least.
@Oram77 ? Maybe I didn't catch your point.
I know they won't compete as stated in my first comment, but not because they are different platforms.
Sega and Nintendo in the 90s - Different platforms no competition?
Xbox and Sony during the last couple of generations - Different platforms no competition?
Even if there was a clear winner or not in each gen, these surely tried to compete and win market from the other, and were considered as competition in the eyes of consumers too. Therefore the term console wars.
No chance that this new system will compete directly with PS5. Best case scenario it will have the PS4 or mayyyybe and I think this would be too much, the PS4 Pro power. Nintendo has done it's own thing and will continue doing so at least for the next generation.
It can be considered a great month for many because of GOWR. But whenever a stellar game like that becomes available, the rest of the monthly lineup tends to be on the weaker side, like in this case for me.
That is why I prefer when no superstar game comes into the subscription, because more of the hidden or not so popular jewels become available to compensate, which are the ones I have my subscription for, not games that mostly everyone has already bought 2 years ago.
@gaston "I don't really have much idea of any of these Nintendo titles" REALLLY? Like among those are titles such as ZELDA, Dragon Quest, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Super Smash, Pokemon!? I don't say that you have to like or play them at all. I don't have an Xbox but know their games. But if you really don't know these games then you live under a rock. Now I can agree with what you intended to say with the "less serious" games. Nintendo is usually on the family friendly side, other than maybe Metroid and a few other IPs. Not that they are not good games, just usually don't have/focus on the storytelling that PS singleplayer games are usually superb at imo.
@MikeOrator he is just triggering people. See his profile. I too think that Odyssey did the same but better 7 years ago, but I really really liked Astro Bot too and understand people that liked either one more. But saying it is >>>>> all nintendo games... yep, nonsense.
@bankenrepublik LOL bait used to feel real. But I see that you joined 5 days ago and already half of your comments were removed and were banned. So you are obviously just trolling around.
Amazing game. Very fun and have no complaints at all about it; and even if I think that Mario Odyssey did it a little better 7 years ago in a much weaker system, I still love that Sony tried a 3D platformer again like this.
Anyways, It is probably one of the weakest GOTY's ever along with It Takes Two and Overwatch maybe.
All great, fun, innovative games but that just had the luck of competing during the weakest years of gaming in the last 10 years... Ghost Of Tsushima and RDR2 didn't win, and they are miles better than those 3 previously mentioned. But they had fierce competitors during their years
@MrPeanutbutterz for you? Yes. For others, maybe not. Plus Extra did let me play a lot of great games that I was unsure to pay for and in the end it was cheaper than buying them all. And no, I don't care about the "I must own my own physical copy of the game or I'll have severe anxiety thing" . I think some subscriptions are great for some people ofc, not a general bum deal
I am happy with the ranking, mostly, but specially happy about #1 and that people are consistent. Everyone asks for new IPs and less sequels and sometimes when we get them they turn the other way before even trying them. Happy that the most exciting game for the majority is the new IP from this excellent Studio.
This could have been a day one for me, but based on the reviews, and as mentioned in a previous post, the Local Multiplayer/Split-Screen being only available in one map is a huge letdown for me considering that Local Multiplayer is the only reason I would buy this one. There is a mod for that already in PC, but this is better in a console I think. If they add a patch for it down the line while it is on sale then count me in. Until then sorry but no.
I thought of eventually getting it on a sale. But the whole purpose of the Tenkaichi games for me was to be able to play local multiplayer. This is not the best game for online where everyone will use the strongest characters, nor is a fun for long kind of game for playing solo. Big shame that they didn't focus on that very important aspect
Wow over 50% plan on buying it at some point.... Yes it's a PS site, but also for that same reason I think that many of the voters already have a PS5. Upgrading seems as dumb as those people who change their Iphone every year. Upgrading if you already have a PS5 is just not worth it. But I guess there is a lot of people with money to completely burn apparently.
Too many people crying about this.
It is an universally acclaimed series that many people love. It just became cool to hate on it because they killed a beloved character for the purpose of their story and also because somehow people thought it became 'woke' or something for really nonsense reasons. Always thought this was just American Xbox players review bombing the game, but apparently there were people who really believed it and needed a big hug.
I haven't played the first game in a decade and now having this critically praised remastered version included in my subscription at no extra cost is great.
.
@Shinnok789 the games that 7 year olds used to play back in the nes/snes era would break laughing about Astro bot's difficulty.
Personally I am very disappointed in how beloved franchises (Pokemon, Mario f.ex) have left out any kind of challenges for people being afraid that kids get
"frustrated".
7 year old's also can beat the hell out of me in online shooters.
Assuming that kids can't handle a game like Astro Bot feels like too much. They are even beating Shadow of the Erdtree. Don't underestimate them.
It is just reinforcing the "Crystal generations" concept. Challenge is good. Becoming so easily frustrated shouldn't.
This was an amazing hidden gem back in the PSP era.
Remember loving it, but I am not sure that it can pass the test of time as it is right now. A remaster would have been amazing but it was so niche that I can see this "ps premium" release causing the same or even more excitement.
Wow I honestly did not know Stellar Blade was so popular. It is clear it has not been the best year in gaming ofc but still big votes to be 2nd with such a margin. Loved Rebirth and want to try Animal Well, but I know that my GOTY, including all platforms is a certain June DLC which if we could have voted for I think would definitively have made into top 3
Crisis Core is a great addition for extra. Still think Premium subscription makes no sense no matter the games they add, but Jeanne d'Arc is an amazing game I remember fondly from the PSP era.
I have to renew my yearly Extra subscription this week and probably will cancel it at least until November waiting for a black Friday discount. I have mostly been waiting for either RE8 or TLOU1 Remaster to hit extra but still nothing
Yeah sorry but Shadow of the Erdtree has been better than any game released in any platform this year. Other than that I enjoyed FFVII and Paper Mario but are not even close to the mentioned DLC
@Dom_31 just using Budokai Tenkaichi 3 playable characters I think there a a lot other than the named ones above (Tao, Shen, King Piccolo, Kid Goku): Cyborg Tao, General Blue, Chi-Chi, GrandPa Gohan, Spike (the vampire) , Android 8 (Frankenstein's monster one), etc... Not that I played those as mains, but still loved to play them every once in a while and the roster availability of that game
Amazing, so glad that it is doing so well! Loving every second of it and taking my time to inspect every piece of it. My only concern is that with "masses" comes all the crying and review bombing from 'new fans' to put it softly asking for a lower difficulty level from a game that is supposed to be hard.
@Shepherd_Tallon Couldn't agree more. I love these games, and I know that if I die it's part of the game and usually my fault. The pure essence of git gud. On the other hand I felt Nioh games a little unfair some times. But it's good that more games like these exist anyways.
Other than exceptions like GOW and Souls games, I tend to find most games nowadays on the easier side. It's good that we have both, so I implore that FromSoftware won't nerf the DLC with all these review bombings in Steam. Just go play another game, as I did with 80% of Nintendo games nowadays sadly because they have no challenge at all.
Wow I am pleasantly surprised that they already added the Shadow of the Erdtree guides. That was fast. Wish I wouldn't need these, but probably will come back for tips sooner rather than later
@get2sammyb @LiamCroft yes you are right 8 is "great" and the review describes it like that, a great game. I am just surprised that based on this review it didn't earn more considering it is a DLC and not a full game; and that usually these reviews are on the low-score end compared to others. But giving 10s to every single good game is also far from ideal too, I agree. Anyways thanks for the review, all I can say is that I am excited to play it as soon as it drops.
@ishaajo840 oh yes you are right. I was looking only at the PS5 reviews where this appears at the bottom, as of now. Think it does not let you see all platform reviews combined at the same time.
Push Square has the current lowest Shadow Of the Erdtree score on Metacritic as of the time of writing with an 8.
I remembered they also did the same with Armored Core, having the second to last score on the same page currently.
Exactly the same happened with Sekiro.
Only Demons Souls has a great score coming from Push Square from the recent releases, in comparisson to other sites.
But certainly PS is not among the fans of From Software apparently.
Anyways, day one definitively, more of the same is just what I needed here
Not a fan of Disney's forced inclusion, since it has been done in movies with very weak scripts, making it seems that they only care for that and not the story. But on the other hand Spider-Verse films are the best and also f.ex as controversial as black Velaryons can be in the House Of Dragon world, the screenwriters made it make sense for the plot. But hating on this game based only on that trailer is just free online racism. Yasuke is a historical figure, and even if it wasn't, there is not enough story/gameplay being revealed to make it the most disliked. Just people feeling hurt about the character.
@RicebinBernacky yep I was wondering the same. So many deleted comments.
And I see that increasing every day in this page. Post sections are either getting more toxic or the ones in charge of deleting them have become too sensitive. I just can't tell which one it is because I never got to see the original deleted comments in the first place; or if I have, they mostly never called my attention in a bad way in the first place.
Hope this comment does not offend anyone and gets deleted too
As pointed out by others, this is Ubisoft and will be at a hard discount sooner rather than later. No rush to play it now. If/When it comes to PS Plus Extra it will be a good option too, else when it goes into a $10 price for Switch, my go to console for Metroidvanias due to the handheld option.
Well of course a PS title would win in a poll like this here, as would Zelda win in a NintendoLife poll or would maybe even Starfield be nominated in an XBox site. It is just biased. Anyways I still think the it is a race between BG3 and Zelda, with only AW2 being a possible underdog suprise
I only see three viable candidates, with Zelda and BG being the favorites and AW2 being the underdog. Sorry Spidey, RE4 and specially Mario Wonder, they don't have a real chance although being great games
@fabio1 Meanwhile NSO subscribers: You guys receive monthly games with your console subscription??
Me Laughing and crying with a yearly NSO subscription on.
But jokes aside, we know Game Pass is Microsoft's only argument above PS right now, and this month's PS + games don't help fight that true, but during past months they haven't been so bad, at least for Extra.
@Bamila interesting that you rated Alan Wake 2 as 1st. Been really wanting to try that one, but still haven't found the strength. Just finished RE4 and wanted a more lighthearted game next. But definitively will get it sooner rather than later
@Bamila Sorry, have to be the "I told you" guy.
So is Hogwarts Legacy still considered the GOTY as you passionately claimed? Not even in the nominees apparently.
Just remembered about this post because I heard a guy asking for it in the nominees. But hey, with all honesty, maybe it should have been at least nominated, maybe instead of Mario Wonder, but definitively not winning.
@trev666 think it could make sense for a sequel to be better than the original and still not score as good as the first.
Just recently that happened to TOTK for example.
That is because years have passed and you expect more and better from a sequel. If the new one is exactly as good in story, graphics, gameplay, size etc.. as the original, you would be disappointed and would rank it lower than the original right?
So if it is just slightly better, by today's standards and expectations it can rank lower.
If not, all ports should be scored exactly the same as their original.
But that is just my subjective opinion.

Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (PS5) - Familiar FromSoftware Brilliance
@MikeOrator. I own both, loved both. But as you clarified "to me", it depends on the player.
Personally:
Again this is personal opinion but I think both are 10/10, can't see BOTW being 2 points above ER
Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (PS5) - Familiar FromSoftware Brilliance
Push Square has the current lowest Shadow Of the Erdtree score on Metacritic as of the time of writing with an 8.
I remembered they also did the same with Armored Core, having the second to last score on the same page currently.
Exactly the same happened with Sekiro.
Only Demons Souls has a great score coming from Push Square from the recent releases, in comparisson to other sites.
But certainly PS is not among the fans of From Software apparently.
Anyways, day one definitively, more of the same is just what I needed here
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History
Re: Tales of Kenzera: ZAU Also a Day One PS Plus Extra Game, Out 23rd April
@RicebinBernacky yep I was wondering the same. So many deleted comments.
And I see that increasing every day in this page. Post sections are either getting more toxic or the ones in charge of deleting them have become too sensitive. I just can't tell which one it is because I never got to see the original deleted comments in the first place; or if I have, they mostly never called my attention in a bad way in the first place.
Hope this comment does not offend anyone and gets deleted too
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?
As pointed out by others, this is Ubisoft and will be at a hard discount sooner rather than later. No rush to play it now.
If/When it comes to PS Plus Extra it will be a good option too, else when it goes into a $10 price for Switch, my go to console for Metroidvanias due to the handheld option.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Is a Lock for Game of the Year, According to Most PlayStation Fans
Re: Poll: What Will Win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023?
I only see three viable candidates, with Zelda and BG being the favorites and AW2 being the underdog.
Sorry Spidey, RE4 and specially Mario Wonder, they don't have a real chance although being great games
Re: 14 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Coming Next Week
@fabio1 Meanwhile NSO subscribers: You guys receive monthly games with your console subscription??
But jokes aside, we know Game Pass is Microsoft's only argument above PS right now, and this month's PS + games don't help fight that true, but during past months they haven't been so bad, at least for Extra.
Re: 14 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Coming Next Week
Will be finally playing Superliminal here. Not much more this month
Re: PlayStation's 2024 Release Schedule Is Already a Joke
@Bamila interesting that you rated Alan Wake 2 as 1st. Been really wanting to try that one, but still haven't found the strength. Just finished RE4 and wanted a more lighthearted game next. But definitively will get it sooner rather than later
Re: PlayStation's 2024 Release Schedule Is Already a Joke
@Bamila Sorry, have to be the "I told you" guy.
So is Hogwarts Legacy still considered the GOTY as you passionately claimed? Not even in the nominees apparently.
Just remembered about this post because I heard a guy asking for it in the nominees. But hey, with all honesty, maybe it should have been at least nominated, maybe instead of Mario Wonder, but definitively not winning.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (PS5) - A Familiar But Fantastic Superhero Sequel
@trev666 think it could make sense for a sequel to be better than the original and still not score as good as the first.
Just recently that happened to TOTK for example.
That is because years have passed and you expect more and better from a sequel. If the new one is exactly as good in story, graphics, gameplay, size etc.. as the original, you would be disappointed and would rank it lower than the original right?
So if it is just slightly better, by today's standards and expectations it can rank lower.
If not, all ports should be scored exactly the same as their original.
But that is just my subjective opinion.
