Re: PS5's User Interface Runs in Native 4K with HDR

DrClayman

@Woogy agreed. Don't think people realise how much faster it can kill your telly since it's always running at peak brightness. Esp with something like a menu that's bound to have a few static elements. Really hope you can turn it off and only activate it when needed (games etc).

Re: FIFA 21 - A Step Up from FIFA 20, But Must Do Better on PS5

DrClayman

Okay, @710King might be coming off a bit harsh, but he does have a point. I've seen people complain the new Crash game was too expensive, yet splash £60 every year on lineup updates. As good as the games can be, there is zero need for full games yearly. We could start with major releases every 3-4 years with decent overhauls and £10-20 yearly expansions in the years between, with squad updates and minor features. But again, why would they do that when players happily pay full price every single year.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Physical Crash 4 Sales Down 80% on N. Sane Trilogy

DrClayman

Tbh digital cost me less with buying psn credit, around the 50 mark. Which I think is a fine price for a new game, never understood why the outrage for this being full price. It's a new, full size crash game, it seems platformers don't have "the right" to be full price according to some people for some odd reason. Except if it's mario Odyssey of course, and then no one bats an eyelid.

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Details Digital Deluxe Edition

DrClayman

I get that deluxe editions are nothing new, but the amount is still staggering. If you look at the most recent PS4 exclusives (GoT, LoU2) the standard and deluxe editions were at £55/£65. That has now jumped to £70/£90. Up to a tenner up for each, I'd probably stomach, but this seems a bit too much.

Re: Talking Point: The Last of Us 2 Spoilers Discussion

DrClayman

My only criticism is on length, I think the game would have benefited being a bit trimmed down and streamlined. I think a lot of the time it felt one or two encounters too many to get to the next story beat. Took me 25 hours to finish it, and I would rather have that be closer to 18, so not a huge amount.

Aside from that, loved everything else. Story was brave and great, liked the gameplay enough, and contrary to most people I've seen online, I didn't find it a complete harrowing downer. The game was serious, and dealt with dark themes overall, but I found plenty of moments of levity and fun, and ended on a positive note overall. I had a blast playing through this, 9/10 for me.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

@TheFinalBoss710 It's a games console mate, nothing premium about it. Funny you mention that 450 would be the PS4's price today as opposed to 400, because 450 is exactly what I'm saying the PS5 will cost.

Anyway, you're not changing my mind, and I clearly am not changing yours. As I said, get back to me when the prices are announced. We'll see who was right then 🙂

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

My prediction is this:

Disc - $449
Digital - $399

Give or take $50, these will be the prices. I know a lot of you think I'm lowballing this, and you're welcome to come back to this thread with a big fat "I told you so" when that time comes. I'm quite convinced that's the region they'll go for.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

@Ridwaano you've clearly not shopped for an SSD in a while mate. You can grab them easily at below £100/TB. This thing is 800 gig, and mass produced, so my guess is it will cost them around 100, if that.

And besides that, if they don't sell the thing, it doesn't matter. If the SeXbox comes out at 450, they will not want to be over 500.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Think the PS5 Will Cost?

DrClayman

You're all mad if you think Sony will go anywhere near the 600 mark. They want to forget "599 US Dollars" ever happened, they are not going to do that again. I can't see them going over 499 in any version, it's absurd. Especially since they've got competition to consider. Reminder, both the PS4 and PS4 Pro launched at 399 new, they're not going to almost double that.

It would also explain why they're shipping with a tiny drive, they're keeping costs as low as possible.

Re: Poll: Do You Still Want Ghost of Tsushima to Release on PS4?

DrClayman

@get2sammyb It's 2 minutes to midnight Sammy. Yes, if they built it with ps5 hardware specific in mind, they'd be able to push it as you say, but I don't think that can be done so last minute. If they did that now it would just look like a PS4 game that for some reason is a PS5 exclusive.

Re: Talking Point: Should All Games Have an Easy Mode?

DrClayman

It's honestly a case by case scenario, I don't think a blanket "all games should have it" makes any sense. In the end, it should be up to the developer. If a game's difficulty/balancing is part of their creative vision, then they shouldn't feel forced to add easy modes just because some people want it.

Re: Talking Point: What's the Background Behind Your PSN Username?

DrClayman

Same as my username here. Clayman is the title of my favourite album, but it felt a tad too simple for a gamer tag, plus a bit more likely to run into others already having it. I was reading the Thomas Harris trilogy at the time, where people constantly refer to Hannibal as Dr Lecter, and felt that gave it a bit more gravitas. And after all that, I also thought DrClayman sounded pretty cool. So no, I'm never changing that.

Re: Only a Handful of Senior Employees Worked 100 Hour Weeks on Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Clarifies

DrClayman

@ShogunRok You're right about the fact that if someone goes off on their own there's not much to do to stop them. A couple of things are up to them though as well.

For example, if one of those four writers didn't want to do the excessive hours, but the other three were willing, there's not much of a chance he'd just abandon them and go home. Even though he'd have every right to, he'd still feel like he's not pulling his weight, even if the other three were all fine with it.

I appreciate the fact, if true, that it was one instance of it, but even when that happens, they should still play it on the dl. Mentioning a fact like that off handedly, with no reservations, in an article that's supposed to profile your company is irresponsible at the very least. Did anyone really need to know about that? Especially in Rockstar's case, which hasn't had the best history with working conditions.

And as someone else said in the comments, even Houser's second statement equates hard work with insane hours, which is insulting to the hundreds of people that I'm sure work very hard, and go home when they're supposed to.

Yes, no one had a gun to their head, but there's way subtler ways to force someone to do long hours, and making them feel guilty if they don't. That's some of the reasons why management should step in and send people home if things are getting out of hand, it's not always about the person doing the overtime. In a case like the above, where it was an isolated incident by senior management only, they shouldn't have even mentioned it.

Re: Rockstar Worked 100 Hour Weeks to Get Red Dead Redemption 2 Done

DrClayman

Absolute scumbags if they allowed that to happen. I get the odd overtime day to finish something, but 100 hour weeks should be outright illegal. And if there's truly no other way to make a game like this, then don't make it. Make something you can make under normal working hours. It's a freaking video game in the end, not the cure for cancer.

Re: Guide: Best Assassin's Creed Games Ranked

DrClayman

I'm still early in on Odyssey, but here's my list as it stands so far. The ones I've played anyway:

01. Black Flag
02. Syndicate
03. Origins
04. Odyssey
05. AC3
06. AC2
07. Brotherhood
08. Unity
09. AC1
10. Revelations

Odyssey could go one up or one down, not 100% sure on a final verdict.
