Re: Movement from Amazon's Mass Effect TV Series, Fast & Furious 9 Writer Signed

DrClayman

Nah, I'm ignoring the haters, this is good news. F9 was not the best in the series, but still very enjoyable.

And there's no better fit for Mass Effect than a Fast and Furious writer. Action packed, dysfunctional family dynamics, cheesy one liners, you name it.

I'd say go one step further, get Justin Lin to direct it and Vin Diesel as Shepard and I'm there frame 1.

LET'S GOOOOOO!!

Re: Fresh Marathon Details Cover Heroes, Pricing, and Bungie's Silence

@RoomWithaMoose Agreed that it does sound a bit confusing throwing all those comparisons in, I guess putting all that together, to me it sounds like Hunt Showdown, but with a scifi setting and a faster/more action oriented gameplay.

Which I don't know, maybe it could work? I've not played other extraction shooters, but at least in Hunt the slow pace and tension is what makes it so enjoyable. Not sure how a game of that type would play out if everyone was mad dashing and gunning and throwing Supers all over the place. I'll wait and see.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

DrClayman

Yes, yes it is. It's an absurd price point for a games console. If they did what they did with 4 (same price point as the base one, while the base gets a price drop) I would have considered it. I play on a 4K 120hz TV so would be up for the extra horsepower/visuals.

Not like this, I don't think the gains warrant it, the PS5 doesn't feel like it's reaching it's limits anyway, I'm happy enough playing at 60 at lower resulutions than 4K.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Still Kicking, Over Four Million Copies Sold

@Toot1st Context is important though. MK has always had much bigger mass market appeal, but also MK11 was the follow up to MKX, which is considered one of, if not the best, MK games, period. That's from both casual and competitive audiences, so hype was a lot higher to jump on. By comparison, MK11 was not as well received, so not as many people jumped on MK1 and that shows.

SF6 got a great launch and reception, but it was also following up SF5, which had a troubled launch to say the least (even though it did turn things around).

Lastly that's MK11's lifetime sales, SF6 has only been out a year. Don't know if it's gonna reach those numbers, but can see it doing at least 8-10 million by the end of it's run.

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?

DrClayman

F2P is the only way it might have a chance at resurgence, along with a re-launch, 2.0 of sorts, touting new features etc

Even then it will be tough, but there's no chance in hell it gains an audience at that price for entry. And without an audience, there's really no future for a MP live service game.

Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Is the PS4 Compilation of Your Dreams

DrClayman

@Mortal Rollback is a big reason. Yes, Fightcade has been filling that gap for a while now, but a lot of people either don't have PCs, or don't want to mess around with downloads from odd sites, setting up etc, they'd prefer something that's just plug and play.

Fightcade is relatively easy to set up and runs on low end PCs, but it still asks you to download roms from what might seem untrusty websites and servers, so for people (understandably) uncomfortable with that, this is a great release.

The blurb on GOW2 and its position in the list make no sense 😂

Yes I realise the order is based on user rankings, still found it a bit funny.
