Re: Hardware Review: Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai - Stick Joy

DrClayman

Hori is great, if you've never had a stick and want to have a shot, check out the Hori mini fightstick 4. It gets a lot of flak from pros cause it's missing the highest quality parts and it's not moddable, but it feels really good, especially if you're a beginner, and it's in the £30-40 price range. Worth it imo.

Re: Review: Broforce (PS4)

DrClayman

@DrJoeystein Yeah, more content in general would be very welcome, although I was a bit forgiving on that aspect since it's a small studio and this is their first (?) game. I'm keeping an eye on them though, really looking forward to what they do in the future.

Also, as far as crossover games go, hot damn... The cast of characters is insane, a dream come true. To the point where I don't know how they got away with using all them. Probably in the realms of parody, but still impressive!

Re: Review: Broforce (PS4)

DrClayman

Amazing game. Finished it today and it's my favourite Plus offer since Rocket League. I do agree, the technical issues need fixing asap, but if they sort that out, it's a 10/10 for me. Then again I do like platformers, action films and heavy metal, and the game caters to all of the above

Re: PS4 Fans Are So Mad at PlayStation Plus They're Making Parodies

DrClayman

Personally, I still have no issue with the games on offer, considering the price of PS+. Can't really complain for £40 for 72 games, it's the way I see it anyway.

However, it is weird to me how they haven't given any of the perceived triple a games in a long while (on ps4), even just for appeasing the masses. It baffles me how sometimes Sony seems to be really close to their audience, and then in this case, it feels like they've never been on the internet in two years. It used to be that you got xbox live because you had to (online multiplayer) and ps+ because you wanted to (free games), but that is changing for a lot of people and Sony doesn't seem to care really. Sure, you still need xbox live to play online, but they've gone from not giving anything else, to some bad/old games, to some pretty damn meaty games. They've got Sherlock Holmes, Lords of the Fallen and Borderlands this month. Just, are they not seeing that that makes them look worse? (EDIT: I mean Sony in this last sentence)

Re: PS5 Could Launch as Early as 2019, Reckons Analyst

DrClayman

I wouldn't describe 2019 as early, that's the most expected timeframe. Most generations have been shorter than that, and only a few have been just a bit over that. PS3 in Europe was just over six years, and that's considered a long gen. I could even see it at 2018 to be honest.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

DrClayman

I don't know man, and I can't say until I try it. Before the vita came out, Sony hired spaces in many major cities across the UK and let you just walk in and have a shot at it. They really need to do the same with PSVR, even more so than the vita since it's something you need to experience. If it's something that blows my mind away, and there's good support for it, then yeah, I would even consider buying it at £400-500. But not until I get hands on with it. £300-350 should be the sweet spot though.

Re: Many More PS4 Games Go Cheap in European Sale

DrClayman

@get2sammyb got it on the sale and been playing most of the day. Definitely worth it for me, although it's not that scary. Creepy atmosphere, but not if you're looking for jump scares. The story is very interesting though, deals with similar themes as The Talos Principle, albeit in a more grounded way.

Re: Reaction: Oculus Rift's $599 Price Is Positive News for PlayStation VR

DrClayman

Palmer Luckey had said this was going to be premium priced, but I'm not sure what to think about this. On one hand, ok, yes that's a lot of money. But my knowledge is very limited regarding how much the tech costs that's in there, R&D costs, and frankly, the quality tradeoff you could have with a 100-200 bucks cheaper version. We're gonna have to wait and see, PSVR is almost certainly going to be cheaper, but there is a chance that it might not be good enough because of that.

Also, let's not forget business applications for this, unlike PSVR, this isn't strictly a gaming device, and while $600/£500 might seem like a lot for a consumer, it's not as much for a big company/professional (say, architects or mechanics, which VR could be extremely useful in visualising their work). So I can't tell if that tag will ruin the sales potential for it, it's still an unknown field.

Personally, I definitely don't own any pc that could handle the Rift at this stage, and even if I did, I'd want to wait or try it somewhere before commiting that amount of cash.

Re: Rumour: Assassin's Creed Sequel Set in Egypt and Skipping 2016

DrClayman

What amazes me is that they're choosing to skip a year, the one year the film is coming out. You'd think that's the one year they'd definitely want some assassin's creed game out. But oh well, I'm actually really looking forward to watch dogs 2, it could be the AC2 of that series, meaning the first did all the groundwork and the second one will just perfect most rough aspects of it.

Re: Game of the Year: #4 - Fallout 4 (PS4)

DrClayman

@mrobinson91 I'm with you, it's the perfect example of "jack of all trades, master of none". I've put about 30 hours in, and as much as I want to finish it, I need to park it for a while. I spent 2 hours today, 2 bloody hours, scrounging for oil, or spring or some other stuff. It wasn't even optional, I don't care much for all the building side of it, but you had to do it to progress a minutemen mission. Got really annoyed and put it aside.

It's a good game, but the craftsmanship that has gone into games like metal gear, or bloodborne, or the witcher, is nowhere to be seen here. Everything feels half-baked, even if there is a million different stuff about.

Re: Feature: Why The Witcher 3's CD Projekt Red Is the Best Developer of 2015

DrClayman

Aren't we confusing best developer with best publisher though? For me, best developer would be the company that released a game that performed great from the get go. The Witcher is a great game, and it's good that CDPR patched the game quickly multiple times, and that's certainly to their credit. I do feel though that Kojima Productions did a far superior job of not needing to patch the game as much, cause it was simply running almost perfectly, at 60FPS, open world etc. (Yes, there was that mission 29 thing, but not much else really). The Witcher still can't sustain a stable frame rate after a ton of patches.

Yes, you can argue dlc policies, microtransactions and season passes, but to me that's decisions on the publisher side, no need for the developer to take the hit. I repeat, I really liked the Witcher, and CDPR are a great company, but strictly as a developer, Kojima Productions takes the crown for me.

Re: Sony's Open to Acquiring Additional First-Party Studios

DrClayman

@Feena I don't see Sony grabbing the Kojima crew, simply because I don't think they can afford him, at least not without closing one of their other studios. MGSV cost was crazy, and while Playstation is doing great, Sony's other departments are not that profitable. It would be a big risk in my opinion. Also, games that expensive kinda have to be multi platform to increase revenue. I can only see Kojima going to a big third party, like EA, Ubi, Activision or Rockstar. The latter seems the more likely.

Re: Gone Home Gets Comfy on PS4 from 12th January

DrClayman

It's alright. I did think it was way overrated by most people, but that doesn't mean it's bad, it's an OK game to spend a couple of hours. Although there is an exclusive PS4 game that does what this game tries to do in a much better way. Can't say what that is unfortunately, cause I'd be spoiling both games

Re: Soapbox: Why the Industry Is Getting Greedy (And How to Stop It)

DrClayman

Ok, some fair points here, although you fail to mention that games have cost roughly the same since the early 90s, inflation affecting them little to none. I remember some N64 games going even above the $60 price. How can we expect games to make profit when the big AAA ones can cost tens of millions. We can either have season passes and microtransactions, or $100-150 games. It's one or the other unfortunately and it's to be expected.

Re: Review: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (PS4)

DrClayman

The remaster is really good, I've played all of the first and most of the second so far, and they've aged much better than I thought they'd have. I've noticed tiny glitches once or twice (literally), where a plant appears and disappears, but that's about it. Excellent job.

Re: October's PlayStation Plus Lineup Is Going to P*** People Off

DrClayman

@fluggy @teknium_ Amen. If you told me when I was growing up that one day people would complain for getting a Tim Schafer adventure game for next to nothing, in addition to five other games, I'd probably call you crazy. I've already got Broken Age, which is amazing, but I'm looking quite forward to trying out Super Meat Boy and Kickbeat.

Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4)

DrClayman

I am constantly, constantly amazed by this game's tech. Huge open world, 1080p, 60fps and looks incredible, without taking into account how many systems are running under the hood to allow for such freedom in gameplay. The whole industry should really have a long hard look at this when games like Assassin's Creed can't even keep 30fps steady.

Re: Soapbox: Metal Gear Solid V Has the Best Sandbox Mission Design I've Seen in a Game

DrClayman

@sub12 Funny you mentioned Rockstar, I've been thinking that I wouldn't be surprised if they snapped up Mr Kojima soon and establish a Rockstar Japan studio with him in charge. They're known for making big, open world, expensive games, and they always take a long time between installments, but making sure that when they come out they're amazing. Kojima fits right in there in my opinion.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Beta Is Live Now Exclusively on PS4

DrClayman

@BAMozzy Yeah, I get what you're saying, most of the longtime COD community seems to enjoy this for the reasons you've outlined, and that's great. It makes total sense, since I'm from quite a different background, I've never really been into COD, but AW's movement really spoke to my sensibilities. So yeah, different strokes

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Beta Is Live Now Exclusively on PS4

DrClayman

I'm in the minority, but I don't like it as much as I do AW. Side dashes are sorely missed, and the way the "double jump" works, kinda breaks it imo. You need to keep your thumb on X to gain altitude, which means you can't aim while doing that. The double tap that AW had was much better, if that makes sense.

Re: PS4's Need for Speed Reboot Will Be Online Only

DrClayman

I can see why this is bad for a lot of people, and by all means, don't buy this if you feel this way, it's the only way of getting your message across.

Having said that, I will be buying this. I really liked Rivals, both as a game (still my favourite PS4 racer) and how it implemented it's online functionality. It made the game feel alive with actual people racing about and it was unobtrusive cause you could ignore them if you wanted to.

I do agree with you though, there should be an offline option for those with no internet connection, it just does not apply to me personally.
