Regardless of this rumour (which is probably false, as mentioned in the article) Sony just needs to figure out local BC with PS3 now, I don't buy the different architecture excuse anymore. The PS5 had massive overheads compared to a PS3, I cannot believe there is no way to brute force emulation for PS3 when PS4 games not only run, but a lot of the time easily run at 4K60.
Obviously there's the elephant shaped Spartacus in the room, so no doubt a lot of it is down to politics/business, but if they wanted to do it they could.
Ooooooft, that is mad. Tbh I'd still prefer a linear resistance game, but open world is better than no resistance.
Also, Days Gone was a trainwreck?!?! Like, I know it didn't get 10/10s etc, but that is reasonably well liked game, at least from the audience. What are they smoking over there? Is it just God of War-like reception, or it's terrible? Seems very black and white mentality
Yeah, the "up to" worries me in a game like this. Sekiro I couldn't finish on the Pro because of the fluctuation, started over on PC and got through it with no issue. I'm not a "60fps or nothing" person, but in a game like this, steady frame rates are important to me. Might have actually preferred a 30fps lock to a floaty/uncapped framerate.
@Shepherd_Tallon it largely depends on what you like or dislike about fallout. I preferred it to Fallout because it does away with a lot of the clutter you have to deal with in Fallout, it's leaner, more streamlined and less janky. Although by doing that, it's also not a Bethesda like RPG where you can pick anything up, do whatever you like, and as a result of all this it's quite shorter as well. For me these are bonuses, but I know a lot of people really look for that stuff, so it's really down to what you're after.
I'm still convinced that Bluepoint will end up making Bloodborne 2, and this just enforces that theory. Probably a remaster of 1 first, that would also help them understand the back end better and translate it to their engine, before being given the reins.
@Flaming_Kaiser My point is that none of these things affect me, whether gambling, cosmetics, avatars or boosters, have never felt the need to buy into any of it, so it's all optional extras in my opinion.
To each their own though man, that's why I said I get where you're coming from.
@Flaming_Kaiser Haha, yeah, fair enough, but that's a whole other kettle of fish. Sony games also have "special editions" that add avatars and digital artbooks for 10-20 pounds more, so I just tend to compare standard editions, otherwise it's a bit of a rabbit hole. I do get where you're coming from though.
That is very good news. I'd happily throw all of PSN's various messaging/groups etc right in the bin and replace them with Discord. Not saying that will happen, but I'd be all for it.
@johncalmc There was two versions of the original game, one for Japan where you play as the brother, and one for the West, where you played as the father. This remake is based on the Japanese version of the original, that's all.
Nothing much changes apart from the character model and a few bits of dialogue because of that.
A lot of people here seem to assume that Sony okayed this, but I don't think they had any say in this tbh. The Show being on other consoles going forward was announced a little while ago, my guess is Sony had to agree to that in order to renew the license cause MLB (the organisation) wanted to go multiplatform with the game. MLB themselves are the ones publishing it on Xbox, not Sony. MLB basically pitched in big time for development costs, with the agreement that Sony makes it and publishes on PS, and MLB can negotiate their own deals and publish on other platforms. And they struck a deal with MS for Game Pass
I agree obviously with all of the above, it does look bad cause in the end it is a PlayStation first party developed game ending up on Game Pass. It is through an odd series of events that I don't believe Sony had any say (unless they completely lost the license), but it does not look great.
It's frustrating, but credit where it's due, Push Square has published two articles about this, while most sites, small and big, have largely ignored the issue. It's a bit annoying to see everyone rush to put out reviews etc only to ignore reporting on legitimate consumer issues. Keep up the good work peeps! 👍
It's an EU Store problem for those wondering, the North American store seems to be fine, not sure about other markets.
@GamingFan4Lyf It's embarrassing, as far as OS/Store/Network Infrastructure, Sony is an absolute disaster. This is just baffling, I honestly do not understand how difficult it can be to put in your database "If X owns version A, then version B is free". This should not be a difficult thing! 🤣
Bet we're gonna be waiting half a generation again to get folders.
@Wormold Nah, way I understand it is once you "purchase" it on Plus, your account is locked out of being able to outright buy the PS4 version, same with all Plus games. So if in the future the PS4 version is on a decent sale, which you can also upgrade to the PS5 version for free, you will be locked out of taking advantage of the offer. It's a bit of a sneaky one.
A bit miffed that we can't upgrade FFVII tbh. I'd be fine with even a £10-15 upgrade option, but think that might be the first time I don't redeem a PS Plus game. If I ever want to play it, can't see any reason playing the PS4 version if a PS5 version is out there. And the PS4 one is at full price £10 cheaper than the PS5 one and comes with a free upgrade. I can also see it being priced cheaper at sales as well.
Just came here to be that guy and say that Black Ops is actually £65, not £70 😂 I know it's a small difference, but still annoys me that Sony is the only one charging that much and they're the platform holders.
And Returnal and Ratchet are at £70, both SIE published games. It looks bad cause they are the platform holders, which means they don't pay a 30% cut to the platform, yet they are the ones charging more for their games.
Wow, people thought 7 was too short? It's one of the few games of the past few years I thought had very little filler/bloat and without it being very short. Been a while, but I think my playthrough was in the realm of 8-10 hours, which is a nice sweet spot.
@deathaxe It's just a bog standard spinning 2TB HDD (used to be my internal PS4 drive) that I've stuck in a caddy. Thanks for your time man, I might try some of that.
@deathaxe That's interesting, I've stopped using rest mode since very early on because it only exacerbated my issues. The caddy theory intrigues me, it's just a normal HDD in a caddy, but I've that caddy in PCs and an Xbox before and never had any issues. As you say, could be a specific handshake/compatibility issue with the PS5 and this.
I've had non stop issues with my external hard drive. Half the time the ps5 boots, it doesn't wake up the hard drive, need to restart the system to wake it up if I want to play a PS4 game. If a PS4 game is updating, I can't start playing a game cause the update will error big time and the only way to resolve it is to re download the game. Also if PS4 games are updating and I even try to access the external drive, like check space or my library, there's a chance of the same error happening. Especially frustrating when I start up, start playing a ps5 game, and then the external drive wakes up, decides to update the PS4 games, and all updates error cause I'm playing a game. Rant over lol but that's mainly what I want fixed/addressed.
@TheDudeElDuderino I've got both consoles but went with PS5 cause I own the other 2 games there and it's nice having the complete package and progress in one place. The game looks amazing anyway, the difference is marginal as stated.
It's a bit annoying cause once you do the transfer, it overwrites any existing Hitman 3 progress, so you can't really start playing now and transfer your previous progress later. Hopefully it gets sorted soon, avoiding starting it until that happens 🤞
If anyone's still looking to buy ps vita (and PS3) games on the web store there's a workaround URL that still takes you to the old store, not sure how long it'll be working though.
Eh, it's not ideal, but it's the end of a gen, a bit to be expected. You should all go back in time and play Skyrim on PS3 before it was patched if you wanna see what that looked like.
Honestly, I think the DS4 slightly edges it. The triggers on the Dual sense are great, I feel like the rumble has been a bit overhyped, but as far as form factor goes, I prefer the 4 just that little bit more and I think the D-Pad feels like a step down.
Sounds like this gen's touchpad then. A few first party studios will make good use of it initially, some third parties will half ars it, and most will just ignore it's there.
I think as good as PSVR has been, it's also been a bloody mess from the beginning, really not well thought out. Using PS3 tech for the move controllers and initially coming out not supporting the Pro's HDR output, I had to constantly switch out HDMI cables depending on what I was playing. Then they had to update that, kinda screwing up first adopters. Then the camera that used a proprietary port, now people have to ask Sony for adapters. And now as the article mentions, you'd need to have two different versions of the game installed to get the best of each. I sold my PSVR eventually and kinda glad I did, really don't feel their commitment on this right now.

£59.99 actually, like most other games. I feel like it's only Sony published games that make the jump to £69.99 (mostly anyway).

Wondering if you'd be able to install each one separately to save space, doubt anyone will be playing all three at the same time anyway.

I think what makes it worse is that they're the outliers. If you look at other upcoming PS5 games:
Back 4 Blood - £60
Deathloop - £60
Resi 8 - £55
Guilty Gear - £45
And Returnal and Ratchet are at £70, both SIE published games. It looks bad cause they are the platform holders, which means they don't pay a 30% cut to the platform, yet they are the ones charging more for their games.
