I mean, I didn't mind Rage, wouldn't mind another one BUT... If id software is working on a sequel to Rage instead of a sequel to Doom, they have truly and utterly lost their bloody minds 😂😂😂
@get2sammyb That sounds good. The series has piqued my interest in the past, but most people I've met that had played them tended to emphasise on the negatives. And yeah, I wouldn't expect them to stand up to modern standards like Uncharted or God of War, but if you're comparing them to the Metal Gears of the time, that's a good enough recommendation for me. Might actually give them a bash when they're out.
I think I'm missing the point of why this is a must play. Between cumbersome controls, dated open world, bad voice acting and bad writing, what is its redeeming quality? Is the story that good that it eclipses all other shortcomings? Or is it a must play just as an educational piece of history?
Hey @get2sammyb great review. One question, does the game have loads of extras like the previous entries after you finish it? As in, behind the scenes videos, artwork and assets galleries etc. Would be good to know!
Elder Scrolls 6 is almost guaranteed to be revealed, wouldn't be surprised if it released this fall. They've always been about 5 years between entries, and will be 7 years since Skyrim by then. Surely we're long overdue one.
Some toughies on this one. Love Kain, but can't not vote for Bayo. Which is also weird seeing her here, I know it started as multiplatform, but I immediately associate Bayonetta as a Nintendo property.
@BranJ0 @kyleforrester87 yeah, can't argue with that, it could have crashed and burnt without anyone noticing, but there is at least some attention thrown its way. It's as you say, no matter what the chat around it is, I feel it deserves more. I just hope more people will play it over the next few years through word of mouth, sales etc.
@kyleforrester87 Dunno man, I'm doing the rounds from various press outlets and their end of year lists and it's being significantly overshadowed by games such as Zelda and Horizon. Fantastic games in their own right, but I think Nier is in a whole other league in the way it revolutionises storytelling and combines gameplay in video games while not letting down of any other aspect such as visuals, music etc
To each their own of course, but I feel a lot of people are missing out on something that's way more important than they realise.
Man, I remember really enjoying Catherine until I hit a proper wall 3 or 4 hours in and could not get past a puzzle for the life of me. It really put me off the game cause I was really enjoying the plot, but not the fact I'd have to start over if I wanted to just lower the difficulty, so I never went back. I'd like to give it another shot now, but it's still left a bitter taste in my mouth.
They've also still not released an HDR update for the PS4 Pro, even though they said it would arrive with the expansion. Still no update on when we'll get it, even though it seems it works great on Xbox platforms.
I can totally see that, I've noticed physical prices going up lately, so the price difference becomes a smaller factor than it used to be. Add to that the convenience of not having to swap discs when jumping between games, I've moved almost completely digital in the past couple of years.
I went digital this time as well, so did a few of my friends. For a game that I was going on and off for three years (D1), I really regretted not spending the extra tenner at launch to go digital. I'm fine with physical games if it's one and done kind of deal, but games that I keep going back to like Destiny, Overwatch, Titanfall, I'll only go digital from now on.
There is no chance in hell this is not coming to PS4. Absolutely zero chance. A game this high profile, that has a console version in development, would never be exclusive to the console with the significantly least amount of users. It's just math, the money that Microsoft would have to pay to cover the potential earnings they would get from the PS4 userbase, would be close to, or even more than what they would earn from sales. The game preview thing, timed exclusivity, sure. But I'd bet everything I've got that this will make its way to the PS4 when it is completed. It's too big not to.
I honestly don't get the outrage. Every subscription service increases their price at some point, and ps plus has been the same since what, 2010? It's just inflation.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Spot on man. Learn to ignore all the noise. Destiny had a lot of issues, and still has a few, but the constant claim of the "lack of story" just amuses me at this point
To be fair, he said they had no idea what it was, using past tense, I'm taking it he's talking around the launch of vanilla. TTK had quite a bit more on the darkness (or the deep, same thing).
Doom VR, Wolfenstein 2 and Evil Within 2 make Bethesda a clear winner imo, dunno why most people are so down on it. Yes, we suspected Wolf2 and EW2 were in development, but the same can be said for Bloodborne 2 and the Sucker Punch game, which weren't even mentioned from Sony. Also, I like short and snappy, and the whole theme park theme felt like they were having a bit of fun with it.
No Metro Exodus there?! Anyway, from this list it's Destiny 2 cause it's more Destiny, AC Origins cause it's the Black Flag team and that's one of my favourite games of all time, and Wolfenstein 2 cause the first one was awesome and I love me some mecha Nazis
Yeah, it increasingly feels like E3 is the mainstream face of Sony, where PSX is where they talk to the PlayStation fanbase. I'm okay with that, but I do wish they stopped doing them in america for pete's sake. PlayStation has a strong international audience (and we were the ones keeping them relevant when everyone in the US was loving their 360s) and it sucks that year after year it's always over there. I wish they could do them alternatively, one year in the US, one in Europe, one in Japan. I really want to attend a PSX but I ain't gonna fly over for a show, as good as it might be.
I apologise if I sound repetitive, but a couple of exciting new announcements would have elevated this from alright to awesome. Don't get me wrong, it was still a decent showing, and I get that some people care about MH and SotC (again!), but I don't think these have nearly the amount of impact, say, a Bloodborne 2 would have. I just want Bloodborne 2, alright
What they showed was cool, but mostly stuff we knew about. Pretty gutted there were no significant new announcements, I was so ready for Bloodborne 2 and the Sucker Punch game. Overall, mildly disappointed, but a decent showing.
@banacheck Not at all, I would just like some consistency. Don't make a claim like that when it's clearly not enforced. Personally, I think each platform should be used to their full potential, it's not any different from PC really, the better your rig is, the better you'll run the game, whether it's pvp or pve.
@RedMageLanakyn yeah, pretty sure that was the difference, you should look it up just to be sure, Digital Foundry did a comparison video close to the game's launch.
@RedMageLanakyn Nice one, totally missed that! I'm sure they've said in the past they don't do it, but that's just classic Sony for you. Just like no competitive game will have higher framerate on the pro and Battlefield 1 runs at about 10-15 fps higher
The only reason this is going to Xbox first is because Xbox does early access and Sony doesn't imo. I always assumed it would come to Xbox first for that reason. As soon as it's done, I think you'll see it everywhere.
Hmmmm, I find it hard to believe that Sony would say no to this, they've had cross play in the past. Minecraft being a Microsoft property tells me it's probably Microsoft wanting to get one up on Sony. Who knows though.
Borefest. Men in jackets?! that's worse than Pele. A Way Out was the only interesting thing there. Interested in Battlefront 2, looks cool as hell, but even that got boring when they decided to have an entire multiplayer game that went on forever. 3/10
EDIT: NFS as well actually, I liked the look of it.
Yup, agree with the above, Nier Automata has one of the best game soundtracks of all time. Also Doom. Doom's soundtrack is in the background when I play any shooter these days. 10/10
Hoping to see Sucker Punch's and FromSoft's next games and confirm Nightstalkers in Destiny 2. I don't want to see much about tech (VR or Pro chat), sales stats, firmware updates etc, keep it about the games.

Vengeance for Croc, you spiky haired piece of nonsense!
Re: Guide: The Best PS4 Controllers and Accessories
I will give a shoutout to the Razer Raiju controller. Been using it for about a year and a half and it's a cracking controller for shooters.

Just let the man make more games. Nier, not Nier, he's got my money pretty much in his pocket for whatever he decides to do next.

@DerMeister 98 is on PS4 just now, the arcade port anyway, arcade classics or whatever they're called, I bought it last week.
Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Sweeps Nominations at DICE Awards 2018
Call of Duty gets nominated for best music, and NieR: Automata doesn't... that alone invalidates the entire list imo, absolutely ridiculous.

I'd take this one step further and say it has the best everything of 2017. Such a masterpiece, a shame it's not getting much recognition.

6 - Unity
7 - Brotherhood
8 - AC1
9 - Revelations
