Re: 900 PlayStation Employees Laid Off, London Studio Closed

DrClayman

@GamingFan4Lyf Bonuses/salaries, whatever needs to be done. I realise sometimes the grim reality is that layoffs might be necessary to save a company from folding (so to avoid even more people losing their jobs), but this should be the absolute very last resort after everything else has been implemented. The fact that these companies don't mention senior management pay cuts, stopping bonuses etc always makes me think this is not the case and they go to layoffs first.

Bobby Kotick took 400 mil with him just months before Activision laid off 2000 people. I'm dreading to find out what Jim Ryan will take home next month, cause I really doubt he's gonna forfeit any bonuses he might be eligible for after all his years at Sony to save some people from losing their jobs.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Out Now on PS5, PS4

DrClayman

@Bentleyma Ah cool, didn't know if that's allowed/happened before lol. Seems weird but always thought there was rules about not mentioning other consoles as part of compliance. Been playing ESO for ages as well and they never have added any mention of being an Xbox studio after the acquisition.

Re: A Bloodborne Remake on PS6 Might Have More 'Value', Creator Suggests

DrClayman

@Max_the_German Yeah, I'm not that surprised that some of these things are not happening, but really, really fn surprised none of these things are happening.

To elaborate, if there was a hypothetical PS5 remake/remaster version in the works, then I'd see them not wanting to patch the game for business/greed reasons (you want 60fps, you'll have to buy the new version). Fine, not great, it is what it is.

But if something like this is not in the works, which it doesn't look like it is, then why on earth not release a patch?

The fact that one of the most popular PS IPs is just sitting there rotting away is mind boggling.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Be More Transparent About PS5, PS4's Most Played Games?

DrClayman

@LifeGirl PS3 was a marvel of a hardware tbh, don't think they can ever repeat that. The sheer amount of formats it supported was staggering, especially the early models with PS2 compatibility. And then you had even three different types of memory card slots, blu-rays, audio cds, multitudes of digital media formats, network drive support. Analogue AND digital outputs. Majestic, still have a launch PS3 hooked up.

Re: Poll: Did You Enjoy Evo 2023?

DrClayman

@AdamNovice Yeah I was sceptical about the change to Top 6 but think it worked out well.

Didn't watch as much as I wanted tbh, more dipped in and out. I didn't expect Leffen to get past Noobie or Umisho, so that was a bit of a surprise.

Good to see Marvel on main stage as well, wonder what else they'll bring back.

One thing I noticed, all winners (bar MK11) played on stick. Interesting to see in the era of as optimal controllers as possible, as stick is supposed to be the least optimal. Another case of play with what's comfortable to you.

Re: Battle for Bloodborne PS5 Enters New Phase as Modders Port 60fps Patch to Retail Hardware

DrClayman

@Northern_munkey Eh, no, not really. The frame pacing issue their games suffer from are precisely because of the 30 frame rate cap, any game they've ran unlocked has not had that issue.

DS3 had frame rate issues, yes, but that was the PS4 Pro hardware not being powerful enough to run it at a solid 60. On PS5 which has tons of headroom, the game runs fine, and so does DS2 and Sekiro. So uncapping Bloodborne would most likely be a similar case.

Only issue in their older games in that the physics was tied to their frame rate, but they also figure that out long ago as it's not been an issue recently.

Re: Battle for Bloodborne PS5 Enters New Phase as Modders Port 60fps Patch to Retail Hardware

DrClayman

@Northern_munkey I mean, this is very clearly not a technical challenge, it's not that From (or anyone) is incapable of doing this. My guess is either politics/rights getting in the way, or getting in the way of future roadmaps (i.e. planning to do a full price remake or remaster later and don't want to patch it).

I very much doubt it's a case of they can't figure out how to unlock the framerate.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Tops 2 Million Copies Sold, Celebrates with In-Game Rewards

DrClayman

@JevVoi Hey man, just my two cents here. If you only ever want to play world tour and single player, that's grand, you should play the game however you want.

However if you were ever wanting to try the online and someone told you that you'll ruin they're experience with your casual play, that they are the true players and you're not, or anything like that, you should not listen to any of that, that's legit scrubtalk.

Every type/level of play is legit, and newbies are more than welcome, that's how you expand the genre, not by closing doors. SF6 has multiple avenues for that, either go straight to ranked and match up with people of your skill level, or go to BH/Casual and bang your head against a wall for a few hours until you learn, both of these are acceptable ways to go about it, depending on the person.

Again if that's not what you want, that's absolutely fine, just don't want you to be put off for the wrong reasons.

Re: Street Fighter 6's New PS5, PS4 Battle Pass Paves the Way for Rashid

DrClayman

@Cashews Yeah, it's not terrible or anything, I actually quite like the setup/idea of it, I just think it's a bit too long, only want to finish it now because I'm close to the end and want the trophy lol, but would have preferred if it was closer to 8-10 hours instead of 20, it's overstayed its welcome just a little bit.

Yeah wouldn't mind it being a month for the battle pass, and would also be nice to get other daily challenge kudos, like ranked for example, seems to always be Battle Hub wins.

Minor gripes though, I've only played for an hour or two most nights since launch and still managed to get through it in good time.

Re: Street Fighter 6's New PS5, PS4 Battle Pass Paves the Way for Rashid

DrClayman

Got through the last battle pass relatively quickly, not nearly as grindy as other games, and I can get this one with the credits from the last one. Such a great idea.

Tbh at £4 I'd be more than happy to pay again, the game is incredible. World Tour is a bit of a slog tbh, but can't take away from the whole package.

Re: Bloodborne Fans Think They've Found Further Evidence of a PC Port

DrClayman

@Th3solution I disagree, I think a Bloodborne would do insane numbers on PC, wouldn't be surprised if it outsold every other Sony first party release so far. There's a huge FromSoft community, and Bloodborne is regularly brought up as the company's best game. Esp now after Elden Ring got such a reception.

PS5 as well, I've put probably 300 hours in the original? I'd still buy it day one, whether it was full price or upgrade, port or remake. And as you say, PS5 customer base is much bigger now than when DS remake launched.

It's still mad to me that Sony is just sitting on that property doing nothing with it. We've not seen any signs about a PC Port, PS5 remake or a sequel happen. Not saying that all of these should/will happen, but you'd think at least one of those would be in motion by now.

Re: Capcom Fans Split Over What Classic Game Should Be Remade Next

DrClayman

I absolutely love Code Veronica and it's hands down my choice from that list. It's the true sequel to RE2, the story is important for the greater series (far more than 3 and 4 I'd argue), and it's such a great setting, would look amazing with modern visuals.

I'd also like to see a few more fighting collections from Capcom, one with all the versus series from Children of the Atom up to MVC2, and one with their 3D fighters (SF EX, Rival Schools, Power Stone etc).
