I'm currently playing Pathfinder Kingmaker at the moment (about 40 hours in) @Subsided & @Shepherd_Tallon
The PS4 port is a bit rough around the edges so far on the technical side (It's Owlcat's first game as far I'm aware to be fair) but I'm quite enjoying it. The PC version seems to be a lot smoother from what I gather though.
If you want more detail, as PushSquare doesn't have anything about it, I wrote a LONG impressions piece in the forums if you're interested.
The same as last weekend for me. Pathfinder: Kingmaker & Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
I've been back at work teaching since Wednesday so unfortunately I haven't had much time for gaming but hopefully I'll get to remedy that a little now.
Summer holidays in the uk last about 6 weeks from mid July to the beginning of September @TraCuz- ... from what I know about the US school system we have shorter but more frequent holidays over here?
Not sure when I'll get round to Uncharted 4 as I don't own it but 2 & 3 are massive step ups from the first that was a bit ho-hum.
As for Pathfinder... I'll shoot you a tag in the forums... Be a bit too long to explain it here π
My summer break is nearly over and I'll be back to teaching soon enough...
... So I'll get as much gaming in as I can this last weekend of freedom!
I've been betrayed and my kingdom is now being invaded by trolls that are immune to fire in Pathfinder: Kingmaker. I've got two more party members at least to soften the blow? Rather enjoying myself with this CRPG still.
I finished Uncharted 2 and rather enjoyed it. So much so I started up Uncharted 3 which has also been rather fun with the addition of Charlie Cutter into the crew π
I'll be playing a mix of Pathfinder: Kingmaker & Uncharted 2: Among Thieves over the weekend on my trusty slim PS4.
First time playing Uncharted 2 and I'm enjoying it a lot more then the first game. The villain's are better and much more threatening, ChloΓ«'s miles more interesting then Elana, the use of In Medias Res for the opening with the train.
Good stuff and I can see why it's praised & considered to be the best of the series by most.
As for Pathfinder: Kingmaker it's going pretty well. Finally got used to the kingdom management aspect that's crept into this CRPG. Not a whole lot I can do yet though...
My new party member Kaessi has quickly become my favourite of the group thanks to the very unique mechanics she has compared to everyone else.
I'm finally free from teaching for six long weeks (the last three weeks have been partically busy) so I can finally relax and take a breather π
I'll probably be spending most of my holidays (and certainly this weekend) playing my second ever CRPG of Pathfinder: Kingmaker on PS4 which I'm really rather enjoying.
The kingdom management aspect that's now come into play really makes it stand out... But there's so many different options I'm a little overwhelmed and all the quests that have popped up and areas opening up means I'm a little lost and spoilt for choice on what exactly to do next!
I'll be diving underwater and searching the abyss as I attempt to survive in Subnautica.
So far I've miraculously not died in it despite losing a seamoth and meeting dreaded Reaper Leviathans on more then one occasion.
I've also recieved my copy of Nioh 1 this morning. Very late to the party here I know and sadly won't be playing it for a while but just had a little run around in the Tower Of London prologue and it seems promising!
I've now clocked over 20 hours in the aragami (monster) slaying game of God Eater: Resurrection
While the story is utter tosh (Probably one of the worst and so out of place with the moster hunting gameplay) I'm REALLY enjoying the gameplay loop quite a bit.
It's fiendishly addictive and I can't wait to go on to try Monster Hunter at some point in the future
I was supposed to be playing Final Fantasy XIV but I tried God Eater: Resurrection on a whim (after having watched some Monster Hunter Rise videos to see how the gameplay loop works in these things) and I've now sunk over 12 hours into God Eater...
The monster slaying genre has sunk it's hooks into me! Pretty deeply too!
Ha maybe I'll take you up on that offer sometime @TraCuz- when I get a little more used to FF XIV! I'm only level 10 or so after a little session earlier today π
Hopefully I'll get some time over the weekend to get my head around FFXIV and it's free trial. The controller layout on PS4 takes a bit of getting used to though! π
Hopefully all you people with PS5's are enjoying Returnal! I wish I was playing it alongside you all as it looks and sounds absolutely great!
No amount of bug fixes could fix what's clearly a game with severely rushed development.
As much as I wanted to like it I found the story severely lacking, especially with how fast it flies by and oft the game made me mutter "Was that it?" in response to a lot of side quests and even main story beats.
On a base PS4 it can look... decent at times. But other times it can look like absolute ass with textures and models that'd make the PS2 blush.
Night City was a slog to travel through and I'm sure it looks really nice on a high end PC with all the ray tracing bells and whistles and is a technical marvel or whatever with how dense it is... it still doesn't mean it isn't shallower then a puddle.
... Did Xillia have this multiplayer function too? It's the only one of the Tales games I've played myself (Which I found pretty so-so and can barely remember the experience).
Arise does look quite pretty at the very least... Hopefully the story, characters and combat can deliver!
I'm so very VERY close to finishing it and this last boss keeps beating me just as I get to his final phase! Really enjoyed my time with the game though.
I also might check out Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night's new classic mode and the few things I've missed that've been added in since I played it last july.
Code Vein will be taking up most my gaming time this weekend alongside some Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled with my daughter.
Just made it past the Successor Of The Claw and I'm still really enjoying my time with CV. The City of Flames was a bit of a pain to get through, especially with me trying to get through the game with as low of a lvl as possible, though it has made all the bosses a good challenge too!
Though my copy of Yakuza 0 arrived yesterday (I've never played any of the Yakuza games) and after a brief go of it I'm really quite tempted in trying to juggle it and Code Vein... π
Like I said yesterday in the forums regarding this
"It's still not the best look and a poor showing that the disc version of it that had gone "gold" was really not in the best of states."
There was a digital foundry video yesterday and with a proper beefy pc rig it seems to be doing some absolutely fantastic stuff (To them CDPR have undersold how good it looks!)
Here's hoping it's fixed up for the base PS4/Xbox one consoles for the many people on here who've been itching to play it as it's something I look forward to giving a go myself.
Eventually.
The proper PS5 version that is... It won't be the top of the line PC experience but I'll have as little compromise as I can thanks!
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune via the uncharted collection and Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled on PS4
It's my first time playing Uncharted 1 (I've only played the third in fact but I barely remember it). Bit more cover based shooting then what I expected but other then that it's been pretty decent. On chapter 16 so I don't have a whole lot of game left from what I imagine?
Crash Team Racing for a little kart racing/multiplayer fun... Bandicoot Power all the way with my girl Coco!
Trails Of Cold Steel 2 On PS4 and Resident Evil 2 on PS1
Compared to the first which I enjoyed all the way through Trails Of Cold Steel 2 has been wildly up and down for me in regards to my enjoyment with some very notable lulls. After taking a two and a half month rest away from it though, it's growing on me once again and I'm in the final stretch of the game. The phantasmal mirrors are pretty fun fanservice.
As for Resident Evil 2 I'm just about to finish up the stone puzzles in the chief's office with Claire and head out of the police station and into my first boss fight. Unfortunately my old PS1 disc is starting to show it's age and taking a while to load some things up!
Have a good weekend everyone and to those whom have them enjoy your new PS5's! Stay safe folks!
I'll be playing Nexomon: Extinction on the PS4 this weekend
I'll also be going through Resident Evil 2 on PS1.
Nexomon I've found quite enjoyable and fun despite a few rough edges it has compared to Nintendo's hit franchise. Nearing the end now I believe and it's been a weird and wild ride over the 30 hours I've sunk into it with the main plot actually keeping me on my toes.
Really looking forward to the New Game + and hardcore modes they're gonna add (for free apparently) and give it another go with a completely different team.
Resident Evil 2 on the other hand is an absolute classic and is my personal favourite of the series. Claire first and Leon'll follow after hopefully!
I didn't get far enough into it for Resin to really affect me (That would've really made me drop it if I already hadn't) but I could already see where it was going with the character ascension items and the like @Shigurui. Not to mention the sheer amount of different currencies there are to seemingly baffle you...
I did actually get Venti from the last timed wish banner @themightyant. Kinda ironically as it was just after they sent out those player survey things and ended up saying something quite similar to GKO900's post to Mi-Ho-Yo themselves, used up the remaining stuff I had then dropped the game like a bad habit and haven't gone back to it since π
I'm 10 or so adventure ranks lower then you @Shigurui and I have the exact same thoughts as you regarding the progression. It's such a shame as without the monetisiation it'd easily be one of the best games I've played this year.
Sneakily hiding that battle pass til adventure rank 20 really left a sour taste in my mouth too...
I always thought the Flamelurker wasn't that great of a design in the original (and I'd even say it's pretty boring visually to be perfectly honest) so I've never really got the complaints surrounding it for the PS5 version being a bit different π
Where the heck is that Jester looking character from? I don't recognise it in the slightest but it looks pretty neat. Maiden In Black getting her own avatar is pretty cool too!
Not sad at all @Th3solution... I have the exact same stance/position as you regarding it.
If it was a Β£/$30 purchase I'd have easily shown some support for it as it looks rather good from all the trailers I've seen.
But the free to play aspect is sketchy to me too... My time with Let It Die was honestly pretty good (I'm sure I sunk 60-80 hours in it) til towards the end when it got extremely aggressive with it's free to play nonsense and put me right off of it.
By spinning skeletons do you mean the wheeled skeletons towards the very bottom of the catacombs @Daleaf or just the nornal ones and their rolling attack?
I assume you have a divine weapon too? Because unless you use a weapon with divine properties (Or kill off the various necromancers scattered throughout the level I believe) the skeletons will actually keep coming back up and won't die.
Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony & Dark Souls Remastered is on the agenda for the weekend.
I'm partway through chapter 2 in Danganronpa v3 on PS4. It's pretty good so far and if the first trial is an indicator regarding the quality of the rest... Well I'm really in for a treat!
As for Dark Souls Remastered I'm trying to join Kaathe & the Darkwraith covenant and do New Londo early. That's not really working out though π Might just head to Anor Londo instead and progress the game normally.
I still have no faith in Bethesda for Elder Scrolls VI or Starfield after everything they've done this gen & I don't like most of the other output from the studios they own like Wolfenstein or dishonored. It's really not that huge of a loss to me but it's undeniably one heck of an acquisition.
Odin Sphere's one of my favourite games and I quite like Dragon's Crown too so I'll be sure to pick this up at some point! Really does seem quite different to Vanillaware's usual fare
Well... You do get the option to spend time with other characters and learn more about them. Even acquiring skills to use during the class trials from maxing out your bonds with them so there certainly is a social sim aspect to it @grahamd.
I'm rather new to the series myself and have only played the first two games but there was a bit of an improvement between the first and second in that aspect (Not to mention the second in general having a slew of improvements throughout it)... so V3 could improve on that aspect even further.
From the fact you asked I take it you haven't played through the first or second game?
Can't say for sure as I haven't booted up V3 myself either but it's likely to have a tonne of references and maybe even spoilers to the previous two titles. Possibly.
V3 is the end all of the series from my understanding so it might be a bit hard to play the third and then go back to the previous two.
I believe Danganronpa 1.2 Reload (The dual pack containing Danganronpa 1 & 2) is in the latest sale on the psn store.
Sorry for the lengthy reply... Hope that helps you somewhat! π
I ended up beating Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair thursday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll mop up some of the trophies for it & I'll try and tackle King Dice in Cuphead who's currently thrashing me.
Other then that dunno what I'll do beyond some lesson planning... I'm sure I'll come up with something a little more fun then work prep. π
I'm still not a fan of the PS5's design personally (Not that it's unique design would drive me away)... But it's more interesting looking then the Series S I guess which is a One S but with a big black spot adorning it π
Mainly I'll be playing Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair over the weekend on PS4. Partway through Chapter 3 and things are heating up once again...
I'll also be playing Cuphead, having made it to the third Isle. Grim Matchstick was a bit of a challenge but the newest round of bosses are really kicking me sideways.
There might be a bit of Fall Guys being played over the weekend as well for some lighthearted fun!
Hmmm despite the middling score it still looks and sounds quite appealing to me... I'll be sure to keep it in mind as some of the monster designs do look interesting!

Re: Almost Half of PlayStation Gamers Are Women
Well if this comment section proves anything it's the fact that the gaming community is just as juvenile as it always has been...
I think it's time to just lock this article up as the children have proven they can't be trusted to play with their toys nicely.
... Not that they ever could π
Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Horizon Forbidden West?
I was already in as Horzon Zero Dawn is one of the very few open world games I've honestly enjoyed but that state of play was simply sublime!

Hope that helps you somewhat! π
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 341
I'm sure I'll come up with something a little more fun then work prep. π
Have a good weekend everyone!
Re: Crash Bandicoot's Old Girlfriend Tawna Is Playable in Crash 4
I think I'm the only person rather unimpressed by this. Really not found of the artsyle at all...
Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Under Scrutiny After Disruptive Xbox Series S Reveal
I'm still not a fan of the PS5's design personally (Not that it's unique design would drive me away)... But it's more interesting looking then the Series S I guess which is a One S but with a big black spot adorning it π
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 340
Have a good weekend everyone!
Re: Mini Review: Nexomon: Extinction - With an Update or Two, This Could Be a Solid PokΓ©mon Clone
Hmmm despite the middling score it still looks and sounds quite appealing to me... I'll be sure to keep it in mind as some of the monster designs do look interesting!
Re: Resident Evil Netflix Show Confirmed, Sounds Ludicrously Amazing
... No thanks. Just sounds plain awful to me π
