Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 Physical Copies Require a Download to Play

Marquez

@nomither6 When you talk about 'the same digital copy that I got for cheaper than a physical copy' I can only assume you're talking about buying digital games post-launch and on sale.

I always compare the prices of both versions for games I buy and, having bought practically every major PS5 launch so far on physical, I can say with confidence that physical has always been better value. I even factor in using discounted PS Store credits (from ShopTo) and very occasionally get within a few £, but not cheaper.

Re Jedi: Survivor specifically I have preordered the deluxe edition for £72 physical and it's £89.99 digital. So partial/complete game on disc issue aside, I've saved 20% AND have a version with trade-in value.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Wants to Change the Way Indie Developers Percieve PlayStation

If the PS Plus Essential tier had at least one guaranteed new indie release every month, possibly part-funded by Sony, they could flip the discoverability problem on its head. This would be a solid way for them to invest in the indie space and become synonymous with it.

They are making limited steps in this direction right now - thinking of Tchia coming to to Extra day one - but it will take a more regular cadence of included releases to achieve what Uncle Shu (I wish he was my uncle) says they are working towards.

Re: Preview: Diablo 4's PS5 Beta Was Impressive, But It's Raised Some Concerns

Marquez

I had a great time with the beta, playing druid and rogue (to 17 and 21). I had similar concerns about early balance - but we do need to remember that Diablo end game is typically where it's at so as long as there's better balance later on - all good. Definitely starting with a rogue after my beta experience, all my friends appear to be going for necromancer even though they're convinced it will get hit early with the nerf bat. Even early on there are some amazing melee/ranged combos available to the rogue and it has really strong cc too.

Re: Poll: Did You Enjoy the Diablo 4 Beta?

Marquez

A couple of disappointments aside (dodge cooldown, especially when playing rogue and no UI iteration in a decade of development - seriously!) I had a fantastic time with the beta and have preordered the game.

Played Druid to 15 and Rogue to 21, I have to say the glass cannon nature of the rogue had me grinning.

Story beats were way better integrated in gameplay compared to previous iterations, the atmosphere is a return to the darkness of D2 and items perks (so far) hint at way more interesting build crafting than D3's gear score obsession.

Re: Destiny 2's Root of Nightmares Raid Cleared, World First Crowned

Marquez

One team from our clan managed a contest clear, with a second coming close. I finished it last night - it's the most spectacular-looking raid in a long time, possibly ever - and while there's only four encounters they are all very well done. Looking forward to running this one on repeat. Despite some mis-steps story wise I'd give Nightfall an 8, with the raid now factored into the score.

Destiny 2: Nightfall for me. Despite some janky story beats, given we are in the penultimate expansion of the Light and Dark saga, this is a great addition to the game so far. The QoL changes they have made mean it's easier than ever for new or lapsed players to jump back in. It looks gorgeous on PS5 and the gunplay is still second to none.
