Re: The Last of Us: Part I's Emotional Intro on PS5 Has Leaked

Mezzer

60-70 pounds for this is a piss take. I love Naughty Dog games but I paid £40 at launch on PS3. I paid again for the PS4 remake which I think was around £30?? No way should I have to pay the asking price a third time for what is basically the same game at heart.

People who have purchased and played previously should be entitled to a far cheaper price.

Re: Sony Purchase Allows Haven Studios to Achieve Its Ambitions, New IP Will Be 'Innovative'

Mezzer

@ScepticDK Days Gone was good but not incredible. At launch it had alot of technical issues which at one point made some parts very rough to play.

The atmosphere and world was great but it did not innovate. It took lots of other good ideas and made its own game based on those ideas. I did like Days Gone but the biggest issue was more bloody zombies. It's been done to death.

I would rather see a true new game based on The Order and it's characters and world.

The beauty of gaming is that one man's poison is anothers cure. It's subjective and this makes diverse opinions on games.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Stray?

Mezzer

I have spent an hour playing Stray whilst my young daughter watched. It's a very unique and artistic game... interesting concept and design. It's possibly more art than game but it's definitely worth the asking price and it looks and runs great on PS5.

I will most likely see it's conclusion in the coming days as I am intrigued to play more...more so for its unique world....

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Strange but this is the firs time in over 40 years as a gamer that over the past two months I've hardly switched on a gaming system. Series X has not been turned on for three plus months. Switch was last on at Christmas and my PS5 has been on for short doses ... Twenty minutes here and there but I have not felt like or been able to catch up with many games in my collection...just can not be arsed.

Generally I am hugely dedicated and that's with an active outdoor life, family and self employment. I just find alot of games the past few years getting more and more repetitive.

Re: The Quarry (PS5) - Maybe Until Dawn Was Just a Fluke

Mezzer

Have to agree. Until Dawn was a superior experience and made more so because you actually had control of the game alot. In my first five or six hours with the quarry I've had controller interaction for about an hour and at £60 that is seriously bad... You are pretty much playing one of those old laser disc games with minimal control and in this aspect it's far worse than Until Dawn. I

I knew what to expect going in but I expected more gameplay and hands on with the controller.

Pissed off a little with this purchase as technically it's a step forward but gameplay and playing the game is a step back.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 427

Mezzer

I have not turned on my PS5 for over a month. Series X, about 6 months. Bare in mind gaming has been a huge part of my life for 40 plus years. I have more than enough back catalogue purchases to play, too many . I am actually finding two major issues with gaming currently. PS4 holding the PS5 back...and no major fresh new IPs that scream originality. Far too many sequels, cash grabs and bloody remasters/remakes.

There are some good indie titles about and I really hope VR 2 delivers because VR can be game changing.

Re: Microsoft Bigwig Implies PS5 Is Losing Marketshare to Xbox

Mezzer

Never saw MS shouting off when they were losing...typical brash American *****.

What can Sony do when chip shortages are low?. Many electronic companies are suffering from this.

At the end of the day games tell the truth and currently when time allows my PS5 is switched on first over my SX.

Re: Sci-Fi PS5 Exclusive Returnal Sweeps the BAFTAs, Wins Best Game

Mezzer

Strange one this. Let me explain. An incredible game that I never played for more than two hours. Why?. I truly dislike these rogue style games with punishing loops...it takes away the freedom to play in a relaxed way. Game is incredible by design and what it braves to do...it was unfortunately not for me. Had I been late teens early 20s...yes, I would have loved it but I do not get that much time for longer sessions and learning games that have a huge difficulty level...my set up in our living room and with a young daughter it's hard to find time to concentrate on games that require full on dedication.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

Mezzer

Is it really worth it?. It's notorious knowing that the PS3 is a bitch to emulate. Will the investment reap the rewards?

People bang on about Gamepass etc but these folk forget that Sony was doing back compatibility and emulation on older systems before MS was...MS may have pushed on but at one point original Xbox emulation was rough...

Personally they can keep all this stuff in the eras it lived it. I never purchased a PS5 or SX to play older games. I still have my consoles and games going back to the late 70s so it's not something that interests me.

Re: PSVR2 Is Playable at GDC and Is Already Blowing Minds

Mezzer

PSVR was exactly what I was looking for at its release. It made me feel that amazement and excitement that's been missing since my childhood in gaming...but motion sickness was an issue for me...and there were it's obvious restrictions...

Astrobot is head and shoulders above any other VR game ..Blood And Truth, Moss....Res Evil...Thumper and others that are not coming to me right now ..Wipeout.

If Sony can sort motion sickness ,controls and offer the specs they have mentioned then this could be one of the most exciting hardwares in years...

VR truly gives a new way to play games...

Re: Xbox Game Pass Inspired PS Plus Reboot Reveal Rumoured with Splashy Lineup of Games

Mezzer

It will not be what people think. Sony does not have the infrastructure to compete with services like Gamepass....it's not Sony's way of doing things. Sony's best hopes are to have some of its incredible back catalogue as part of each plan....and to somehow get some day one releases on the service....and no, I don't think this will be first party stuff.

Either way I am not personally interested as I am of the hardcore veteran gamer variety and it's always hardware and disc before anything digital...

I see alot of hype and misleading articles written on this subject...but I don't see Sony matching anywhere near Gamepass and that's fine..Sony's strength is first party but they want a bit more of the subscription pie and why not?

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Gran Turismo 7?

Mezzer

It's the best GT game yet, end of. I have clocked over 25 hours since its launch day and the micro transactions have not got in the way, for me.

My biggest issue is DRM. My campaign is rendered useless if the servers are down....that is ridiculous for a solo player part of the package...

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 User Score the Lowest in PlayStation Exclusive History

Mezzer

@Ams_terran0 I agree but you miss the point. DRM is the issue. I am a gamer for over 40 years with limited game time these days. I wanted to play my disc copy that day when the servers were offline and I could not...I paid £60 for the disc on launch day and I should be able to play all the single player content from my disc ...this is not right....no matter how people look at it...

The game is phenomenal. It's head and shoulders the best racer on console and the best GT so far.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 User Score the Lowest in PlayStation Exclusive History

Mezzer

Although I disagree with DRM. I should be able to play all the single player content from disc regardless of internet connection.

I feel it's more about car brand licenses and brands for mechanical parts...to protect the licence and length of licence contract.

I understand that Sport Mode and online events may use DRM but not single player. If those servers vanish I can't even play solo...or it's incredibly restricted.

Such a shame as it's a phenomenal racing game. It's head and shoulders above any console racer but this matter needs to be brought to attention...but maybe not by folk who don't own the game??

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Review Bombed After Challenging Week

Mezzer

It's without a doubt the best GT game in its history and the best console racing game by a mile. But, never should DRM inflict a single player game....I have heard the excuses from PD and it's *****. I paid £60 for the disc and I expect the full single player component to be forever accessable on my disc, regardless of no internet or maintenance.

This should be criminal in a full priced video game and it shows what will happen when say GT servers stop...

I don't blame Sony or PD though. I feel it's more about car licences, names, brands etc...all these things have a life span via an agreement. It runs far deeper than the production of the video game...but even still. If you pay for a physical game on disc you expect it to work at all times....it tarnishes a stunning video game and incredible racer which has choice for all kinds of racing fans...

Re: Hands On: Is GTA 5 on PS5 Worth It?

Mezzer

I paid the £8:75...well £3 actually as I had a PayPal sale from one of my latest soundtracks ... Even still. It's worth the price for 60fps and a cleaner, sharper image...better lighting, textures and lod. But frankly, it's the 60fps all day long...and they even throw in a 60fps RT mode which looks good from the 20 minutes I just played ..

Just remember. The design of this game was 2013...no matter how good a PS5 or SX maybe you can't alter some elements...this is where GTA 6 will shine.

Hopefully Rockstar give RDR2 the same treatment...it's crying out for 60fps.

One other thing. The world still feels incredible...alive and vibrant and that's something age can't change...

Re: WWE 2K22 (PS5) - A Return to Form for 2K's Wrestling Franchise

Mezzer

Do people still watch this US steroid pumping garbage?. Seriously?. Stunt men doing moves and faking actions. Only America can make something like this into a success and that's not a good thing..but, that's my thoughts about the real thing.

Wrestling games though can be good, very good. I have played some good ones. From Arcade to consoles....Not played a modern wrestling game since No Mercy on the N64....

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's Latest State of Play?

Mezzer

Forspoken looked significantly better. Pre ordered Ghost Wire ages ago as a fan of this Dev teams work.

Samurai game looks great....even better than s previous trailer I watched.

Returnal coop could ignite me to try and play again?. Loved the game but too punishing for me and my gaming time available these days...

Not interested in the online focused games...
