@Royalblues why do Sony need to acquire a publisher when they already have the superior first party studios? No matter what MS buy they can't match Sony or Nintendo for first party quality.
Is this really a ln article/question?. Of course. Activision have not released interesting games since the 90s ... No interest in COD. Blizzard have better games in recent times but not my cup of tea.
This is why I hate American business. MS can't make real quality games themselves so they start buying the competition...it's killing gaming...it's turning it into mass market ***** and for someone who has gamed since gamings birth, I am sick of it. Gaming is fast becoming stale, no fresh IPs, same old open world and franchise rubbish.... digital gaming future...
It's news like this that pulls me away from gaming and especially Microsoft. Similar to a degree to the English Premier League...have a wealthy owner and you can buy any player you want....it's a ***** policy and is turning a history and heritage into greed and American crap....
To be honest I don't particularly care as digital games are not my thing. I will always buy physical unless a game I like has no publisher and digital is the only choice....or titles that are on sale for games I was on the fence about.
It certainly won't have day 1 exclusives....but Sony could deliver a stunning collection of ongoing PS1,PSP,PS2,PS3 titles and hopefully update them with higher res etc?... Don't hold your breath though
Hopefully those 30fps replays are optional?. Gameplay is 60 but replays 30...really, on a PS5...Sod Ray Tracing...it's nothing special on console unless it's an Insomniac game...Jarring to go from 60 to 30. Really need to start moving on from the brilliant PS4 and Pro .... Hopefully PSVR 2 turns out with great support as VR is a game changer when done right.
I really enjoyed Days Gone at launch on the Pro. I could though not see a sequel. As much as I enjoyed the game....it's still involves zombies and I am sick to the back teeth of post apocalyptic or/and zombie games... albeit, bends game was very good...The characters never shone like a ND game but that was fine with me as it felt more natural and grounded and less like a ***** US TV series...
Yakuza games and Lost Judgement are two of the best series of video games ever made but unfortunately most people don't give them the time of day due to there Japanese origins and design...These games are extremely well written, voiced...tackle interesting, stupid and serious themes...fun to play, great combat...(although I did not like Like A Dragons (Combat)...
As someone who gamed from the 70s and been in and around the scene....I found PSVR to be an incredible device. It has that new innovation that I felt I needed as gaming has become very stale in terms of ideas and designs...but..... I also suffer vertigo and motion sickness and this really restricted my use. The excitement VR gave and games like Astro Bot....wow Astro Bot...reminded me of how amazing Mario 64 was on its release...it felt refreshing and blew this experienced gamer away, a glimpse of what can be done...
Now if Sony can make VR2 shine with pristine image quality, a way of lowering motion sickness ....support it with a variety of AAA and indie games...cut the wires back and give us strong controllers in hand , like a glove ?... Then I will be there day 1... I would tell anyone to play Astro Bot, Blood and Truth ,Res 7 and London Studios Demo ....and games like Blur?(was that the name?)...Drive Club VR... The potential is clear to see....There are other excellent titles too by the way.
I want to have some excitement for this follow up. I enjoyed the original. My worries are the facts that the design is held back by the PS4....and open world fatigue. I am just about sick of open world games and the familiar mechanics. As a guy who has gamed since gamings birth it's hard to find new and interesting games.
No doubt the team and engine are elite class but that open world tag ...it's a problem... especially with design restrictions due to the limits of the PS4 .
@GorosBat It's not for everyone but in its day on PS2 there was nothing like, there is still been nothing like it. It's the atmosphere, the world, the story telling using minimal words and cut scenes all woven into one package. The clumsy movement is part of the charm...it's the same in all Ueda games. These are not super hero characters with special abilities...you are meant to struggle a bit
I never got into the PS2 version at launch...I was not used to it and regret not playing it more. I played the HD remake on PS3...the same. Played Bluepoints remake, incredible, beat the game and I finally understood it's brilliance... The Last Guardian is sublime too, loved that game...and ICO...these are unique, creative and artistic games that have no equal.
As for Prey to the gods.... Shameful that no reviews have appeared as yet...looks pretty good and unique.
It's a huge achievement but from 2022 the Xbox One as PS4 has to be dropped. No point in selling next gen consoles but with games built on restrictions of last gen hardware .... Time to move on and accept progress. Those SSD's and huge boosts in GPU and especially CPU need to be exploited and used fully...the sooner the better.
Ridiculous price point.... No wonder people look for cheaper alternatives. Sony is taking the piss. Nintendo are notorious for over pricing but Sony is not too far behind.
@Bleachedsmiles Don't agree. Ratchet looks incredible. 60 fps HDR and Ray Tracing .... Can't be argued with...and you are fully interacting...something a tech demo is not doing. No comparison... Impressive tech demo, yes...but it's not got any gaming features apart from walking ,driving and moving a camera...
Impressive as a tech demo, no doubt. A very different thing to put this into a fully responsive and interactive gaming environment with more than walking and traffic. When you have explosions, gun play, running, traversal, enemy AI, team AI... physics.....this taxes CPU and GPU.... particles.... This Demo tucks in around 30fps in gameplay...simple gameplay. Insomniac have already hit 60fps with Ray Tracing on PS5 for three games... 60 fps is gold standard , finally... on console.
The previous gen needs ditching, sorry to say but it's time to move on. Unreal 5 Tech demo shows us why. You want to move to this level of fidelity then you need a SX,PS5 or top spec PC. RT will have to be turned off to try and reach 60fps on console but the LOD, object detail, lighting and shadows may well stay if it's not so intensive on the hardware?
Will be interesting to see the next 24 months and Unreal 5 in gaming.
Not a fan of the awards. It Takes Two is a sublime game....but. it's a game that requires two players and I only game on my own. Single player experience. I have the game and tried to play it with my brother. We enjoyed the hour we played but due to life and work commitments we have not played it again since.
Seems like it won as a statement rather than as an exceptional video game?. That's my view as a non coop, non online gamer...
Personally I thought Lost Judgement, Returnal (to name two) were great games...but there you go.
@rpg2000 very true with regards to the reasons Drive Club failed...a shame as the game was good...I asked one of the Drive Club Dev team leaders about a 60fps patch for PS5.....pretty much no chance...I would love to see that.
Much prefer a more focused racing game. After buying Day 1 Forza Horizon 5 and just like FH3 and FH4 I got bored after 10 plus hours....far too much tedious racing and quite samey approach to the single player elements. In the end it feels boring and a bit like RPGs with below average fetch quests that you do for the sake of it...
GT games have a more direct focus. I much prefer this style of racing game. I appreciate FH5 but it's far for the super game it's claimed to be...
Tough one to call. The prices are too high, no doubt. £70 RRP for a video game is wrong. I've gamed since the birth of gaming and remember Atari 2600 games being £25-£30 ...so games have never really been cheap..
I paid £42 new for Forza Horizon 5...Series X exclusive...put that into perspective with PS5 exclusives. Something is wrong with that.
Sony has the best studios no doubt but they need to be careful on that pricing. I know many people who are currently gaming on Xbox and PS5...but they only moved to Xbox this gen and most did this due to Gamepass and prices of games....
Personally I won't buy digital new releases unless I have no choice so Gamepass is a no for me as I will only own my games on disc..
I've never paid no more than £60 for a PS5 game but to be honest they should be no more than £50.
This could explain Sony's jump into the PC market?. If anyone takes note you will see that PC versions of multi plat games are far cheaper than our console versions...
@__jamiie Don't agree. In my set up both the PS5 and SX look great. I like how Sony went bold and refreshing. When you see a PS5, you know it's a PS5. With the SX most folk say "what's the black box"...
It's good but games should never release in such a state in the first place...due to the nature of the business many games are chucked out the door to please investors.... It's the gamers that count and I am getting sick of 90% finished games..
@Slippship I would not really bother with reviews these days. It's only an opinion from a fake specialist. If it's your thing, get it. It's your money. Wait for user reviews or lesser known reviews...some of the major reviews from big name publications are absolutely *****...for the most part.
Still not sure about this collection. The price is ridiculous. Is all the music still intact?. How is the performance?. Also, have the games aged well?. Not sure I have to time to play these games again with already a rather large PS5 and SX list to hopefully get through...
Idiots. Social media platforms are at times the scum of the earth. People should put phones ,tablets and PCs down and get out and see and experience the real world... I've been playing the game for a couple of days thanks to my sources but I would not spoil things for others...I have a life, other things to take up my time. Absolutely hate these social media platforms...
What do you expect with all the morons paying full price for what is effectively a year on year update and the idiots spending a fortune on the micro transactions... EA are milking the hell out of the punters and it's daylight robbery.
Not a fan of bikes or cars but do enjoy a decent racing game.
Ride 4 is transformed on PS5. Silky smooth 60fps. Lots of tracks, bikes and customising. Super fast illusion of speed and at times photo realistic visuals. Solid Dual Sense implementation and good audio work. But...it is not an easy game to control for novice or casual gamers, even though there are aids to assist. Game feels like a GT with bikes.
I never had the game on PS4 and apparently it had a three month free upgrade to PS5 but I did recently buy the PS5 version brand new for £20. Can't go wrong at that price.
Not too sure on this. If it's just 60fps and a better resolution then sorry to say but it should be free like Most other titles have been. If they is a £30 plus charge for owners of the originals then there will need to be some major upgrades to the package...
Typical. Right when I had two hours spare to finish playing Iki Island I now can't launch the content. I also can't goto settings so I can activate the option to play offline as this does not work either obviously... This is why I hardly ever buy digital games...waste of ***** time...

Re: Poll: What's the Best Uncharted Game?
Golden Abyss was great for a Vita game and was not developed by Naughty Dog...
Two was incredible, the whole package felt right.
Four was excellent, real quality in both story and splendor.
Personally I would love to see a new chapter which is PS5 only...not held back by PS4.

@CutchuSlow Good choices. I forgot to mention Tales. Excellent game.
Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2021?
Hard to call. Alot of games are cross gen. Some games are remasters of top tier PS4 titles..
If I had to choose something that punched above its weight it would be Kena Bridge Of Spirits. Indie studio who developed a very good video game.
Death Stranding is a genius game but technically is last year's, same with GOT.
Lost Judgement is a great game....these games don't get the credit and sales they deserve.
Returnal is outstanding but I never got over its rogue gameplay...but appreciate how good the game is.
Rift Apart is a fantastic PS5 game. Great fun.
I won't vote as it's impossible.
