Re: Juggernaut Publisher EA Planning to Sell or Merge

@Bagwag82 the industry today is a lot different than back then. The biggest being, Disney didn't have access to Marvel and Star wars. Plus, if they got their hands on a major publisher with dozens of studios and IP they can pull Spiderman and Marvel from Sony and make their own console, hypothetically.

We face a similar problem with Apple, and Amazon. They don't know the market, them joining could set the industry back. Look at Google Stradia, bought studios but didn't understand the market demographic. Now those studios are essentially bust.

Sony profited from this, since they salvaged Haven which was formed by one of those studios going down.

@Shepherd_Tallon I'd hate for Disney to enter the gaming market. I prefer them leasing their IP out to Sony (Marvel), Nintendo (main cast characters).
If Disney entered, they'd have their own game pass. How many subscriptions do you want?

@lolwhatno EA has had a rough time the past two generations. The only real money maker FIFA was costing them almost as much as their revenue to license. So they likely cut it for that reason. Lose out on some money from the branding, but keep more revenue.

But EA isn't alone in this. Ubisoft has had a few flops, and is looking at being purchased by an investment firm. Square Enix is well documented, other than Final Fantasy their games don't sell.

Is it any surprised these three are most likely to sell?

Re: Despite FTC Investigation, Sony Expects Bungie Acquisition to Close This Year

End of the day, it's Sony's money. And if they want to spend it on live action multiplayer titles, that's their desire. But Sony should also understand that their audience is traditionally not into that type of gaming. Personally as long as Sony continues to make as many single player games as they do now but with a few added on live actions, I'll be fine. They are a different demographic from myself.

Side note, if we are betting on the next acquisition, my money is on a studio: Deviation Games. Similar to Haven, started 2020ish, provided funding to make an exclusive live action game, have expanded multiple times over the past few years. Experts in shooting games, something Sony lacks since Guerilla stopped making Killzone.

Re: Video: Is It Time to Leave Last-Gen Behind?

They'll stop releasing to last Gen when the chip shortage ends. If they have over 200 million PS4 users and only 20 million PS5 users. It makes no sense to stop until they can close the gap for this generation.

Re: Sony Buying Square Enix Was the Big Acquisition Rumour, Apparently

I think the fact that Discovery is looking to sell off its Gaming division at Warner Bros, should be more important on Sony's Radar right now.
Sony is going all in with the Fighting community by acquiring EVO, but don't have their own internal fighting game/studio. NetherRealm would be an amazing get.
Rocksteady would do well along side Insomniac making licensed Superhero games.

Re: Best Final Fantasy Games

I don't care what anyone says, and I'd fight them to the death. FFX-2 is one of the best Final fantasy titles. People let their nostalgia of FFX ruin their chance to experience it for the fantastic game it is. Sure it has some fan service, but I still love it all the same.

Re: PlayStation Boss Promises More Acquisitions Are Planned

@Rmg0731 Microsoft's biggest problem isn't buying studios...it's managing them.

I believe they have had 2-3 allegations in the past year from their studios. I doubt that'll get any better once Activision/Blizzard becomes first party.
They should stop acquiring and work on fixing what they have.
