Re: Bobby Kotick Says Sony Is 'Trying to Sabotage' Microsoft's Activision Bid

NomNom

@cragis0001 A Square Enix acquisition is likely to go through. Considering that they have been making a majority of their mainstream titles Sony exclusive for the past few years, they can claim that they work very closely with Sony and the deal wouldn't effect other markets...similar to how Microsoft pushed the Zenimax Acquisition through.

Activision on the other hand, beyond marketing deals has never moved away from their third party status with either Sony or Microsoft prior to this acquisition.

Re: Call of Duty Is the Main Reason People Buy PS5, PS4, Says New Survey

I think 73% is shockingly high. I think the aggregate average should be closer to 25%, and even then, that is massive. All the kids in my extended family only play one of COD, Roblox or Fortnite on their consoles exclusively so depending on what demographic they surveyed this is entirely possible. This should be used by evidence to block the deal.

Re: UK Determines Xbox's $69 Billion Activision Buyout Could Harm Gamers

NomNom

@NEStalgia I do agree that healthy competition has brought out the best in PS, and in the past Xbox.
This new GamePass centered focus for Microsoft doesn't feel as healthy in the long run. Sure it looks good for consumers now, but Microsoft hasn't instilled much faith in me or many general gamers that they will do what's best for their IP, their developers or the studios they acquire.

They have such poor hands on management with their current studios, I shiver to figure out what would become of ABK if the acquisition goes through. Microsoft needs to focus on innovation with their current dev teams. Hi-Fi Rush was a great game, and they need more of those to instill confidence in gamers.

My opinion, if this deal falls through. Microsoft should take the money left over from the deal and invest it into their current dev teams and not look to make any new acquisitions until they are back to a competitive position with Sony IP.

Re: PS5's Market Share Is Expanding Significantly in Xbox's Backyard

NomNom

This doesn't really matter since Microsoft had switched gears and are targeting a different market. GamePass allows them to go after the casual gamer unrestricted by a gaming console. If they decided to make it first party exclusive, and stopped making consoles, I could see game pass on PlayStation consoles (hypothetically).

Re: Actual Size PS5 Spotted Being Installed in Dubai

This is a pretty fun marketing push I like it. I want to see more things put up. A bit disappointing not seeing any horizon in the forbidden West (San Francisco) or the burning shores (Hollywood). But maybe they'll do it closer to the launch

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Co-Developer Studio Gobo Joins Guerrilla Games on Horizon Series

NomNom

@GreatAuk Finally! It's good to see more people agree! Maybe Sony could hire Ready at Dawn to help create it. I'm sure if they made it a VR experience and also launched it on PC, Meta would be on board!

On a side note, I didn't know studio Gobo was a subsidiary, I fell down the Google rabbit hole. I always assumed they were an independent support studio.

Re: Destruction AllStars Dev Now Helping Out on Sea of Thieves

@Cyberpsycho when they were taken off of twisted metal it was reported Sony put them on another vehicular game , so I expected that to be announced in the next year, I guess not any more... Well good luck to them, if they do well enough I could see Microsoft picking them up, like they did with playground games before.

Re: Shocking: Atlus Won't Restrict Persona 3, Persona 4 Remaster Footage, Screenshots

@Jacko11
You're acting as if Persona wasn't always a Western focus title. Ever since Sega bought them, they have been marketing far more to western markets than they have in Japan.

Idk what you want me to tell you. Just because the series was a PlayStation exclusive for a long time doesn't mean it wasn't available to view. There was even an Anime released for Persona 3-5. Atlus is a pretty big player in the JRPG space, if you're new to the franchise, block out key words on your browser and don't look up reviews of the game. What else do you want? No one here will spoil it for you, so that just leaves Twitter (which you shouldn't enter anyways if you want to avoid spoilers of any kind), YouTube, and Twitch which you should also avoid for spoilers.

Re: Shocking: Atlus Won't Restrict Persona 3, Persona 4 Remaster Footage, Screenshots

@Eldritch you can be bewildered but it's a thing. If you are interested why people enjoy it, try it yourself. Pick a game you've already played through, go on to twitch and find a streamer. Try it out with a few streamers. You might find one you like. Not everyone has a budget to buy every game console. If I had that kind of money, I'd have an Xbox series X as well. I generally play PC and PS5 because I can only afford one game console, and I already have a prebuilt PC for other functionalities. I have watched a few playthroughs myself, such as previous iterations of Halo. I usually play my own games while I have a screen open to a streamer every so often.

You might be surprised and actually enjoy it. Some users also provide commentary, and interact with the audience. It can be a fun experience depending on the stream you join and other attendees.

Re: Shocking: Atlus Won't Restrict Persona 3, Persona 4 Remaster Footage, Screenshots

NomNom

@Eldritch hardly oddballs, the practice is pretty mainstream. When I used to be a twitch streamer I had my channel open for anyone to watch and comment, a few dozen people would cycle in and out during any given stream. And I was a nobody. Imagine the Twitch members who get several million views per stream?

Idk why you are so mad, if I've never been into Grand theft auto and I suddenly got into it now, I shouldn't expect the story to be hidden in spoiler tags since I just got into it now. The game and series has been around a long time.

Re: New AAA Studio Formed Out of Forza Horizon 5, EA Talent

NomNom

@Flaming_Kaiser Ninja theory is now with Microsoft, it's the same issue with The Order 1886, I'd love a sequel, but Ready at Dawn is owned by Meta.

Maybe Sony will allow an indie team to try to recreate/build on some of their legacy titles. Sony can maintain their publishing rights, but give the community a chance to rebuild these dead franchises...

On topic, this seems like a great studio for Sony to invest money in, and help the project, like they do with Deviation.

Re: Rumour: Sci-Fi RPG from Sony Supposedly Leaked

NomNom

@NEStalgia Them are fighting words. I generally hate shooters, I'm weirdly good at them, I usually have a 2:1 k/d ratio, but I never particularly enjoyed them until I played Killzone, especially 2, which is the greatest of the franchise Imho. You just see it as a brown shooter with low poli gameplay. But the game itself was incredible. Most shooters are incredibly generic with their tropes: aliens, terrorism, defending our homeland. On a glance you'd think the same of Killzone too. Try watching this video, the YouTuber does a great job going back and reviewing the game:

@TaMpA_bLaCk

As of Sony's last purchase is 19.
6 of those being a support studio, and one being a mobile division studio. This doesn't include Bungie as they are a seperate entity to that of PlayStation first party studios.

Xbox currently has 23. With the addition of ABK this will be pushed up to 30+.
