Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 17

Olmaz

@Teddie-bear A remaster of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is one of my dream.
I still play it regularly emulated on my PC to get a better framerate and resolution.
Even Xenoverse 2, which was quite ok in itself, doesn't come close to the visceral feeling of Budokai Tenkaichi 3!

Re: Mini Review: Thymesia (PS5) – A Poor Take on the Souls-Like Formula

Olmaz

@Fiendish-Beaver I know, but PushSquare reviews are generally quite good. And here, the criticism is very specifically about the gameplay, and its lack of responsiveness and precision (which would of course be a game killer for a Soulslike).
Weird and interesting, I'm very curious to try the game though, now, to make my own mind!

@nessisonett @dschons @titntin Add me to the list.

I love to death Soulsborne games since Demon's Souls, and Mortal Shell had everything for me to enjoy (the setting and art direction especially).
But there is something in the gameplay I can't quite put my finger on it, but it "feels" wrong. Not as tactile as From Software's games.
I think people tend to underrate how incredible visceral Souls games feel. You are not only controlling a character, you are feeling the character through your controller. Mortal Shell didn't achieve that for me, and it's a shame, as I would have loved to love it!

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Talks Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Siren in Insightful Interview

Olmaz

@Perryg92 @dschons Puppeteer is so underrated! It came at the wrong time, just as the PS4 launched.
If it came out today, it would be seen as one of the best example of Sony's first party studios' output.
When you see how something like Stray has been received, Puppeteer should be lauded as what it is : a fantastic, inventive and extremely fun game.

Oh and yes, it would be amazing in VR!!!

@Max_the_German To be honest, I'm playing the game in quality mode and the framerate doesn't bother me - but I'm not a 60fps purist, I'm quite accustomed to 30fps, and I've played through Blighttown on PS3 so, I'm immune to bad fps!
Bad screen space reflections though, I'd love them to go away ad they get distracting in some places.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

Olmaz

I'll sum up my impressions :

  • great looking world
  • very average lore
  • non goals (you really have no motivation to do anything)
  • bad cat models and, especially, animations
  • very limited gameplay opportunities (everything being tied to specific button presses and not being organic makes its very frustrating and not liberating enough)

tldr : very average and limited 3D platformer

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Patch Arrives 2nd June

Olmaz

@RobN @twitchtvpat Unity and Origins are both my favorite AC games.

Unity is visually stunning, even today. Arno is a very good character, with an interesting progression. Paris is still the best city of any AC game, and the story is pretty good. The climbing is also very well balanced.

Origins has Bayek, the best AC character after Enzo, a magnificent and exotic open world with Ancient Egypt, a very interesting story with cool links to the rest of the franchise and very good combat mechanics (much more analog than the MMOesque Odyssey and Valhalla). Its length was also (at least to me) right what it should : expansive but not overly long.

If you have any interest in the franchise, play both games, you won't regret it.

Re: Action RPG Sword and Fairy: Together Forever Arrives on PS5, PS4 This Summer

Olmaz

Seeing a trailer like this, I start to realize how Elden Ring has put me in a state where I am a lot more harsh and demanding of fantasy action RPGs.
The same thing happened to me before after playing Dark Souls. It took quite some time before I could enjoy another action RPG without constantly comparing it to DS.
Elden Ring is a really a massive and special achievement, and I hope it won't demotivate devs to up their game, but in the contrary push them to get even better.
This game looks absolutely fine, it will maybe even be quite good. But will it offer me more than a NG+ go at Elden Ring? That's my current state, and I both hate and love ER for it.

Re: PS Plus Members Will Have the Option to Upgrade to Extra, Premium

Olmaz

Question : let's say I have 15 month left on my PS+ subscription. I want to try PS+ Extra or Premium for one month.
Can I upgrade for 1 month by paying the Essentials to Extra/Premium difference for just 1 month?

Or do I have to upgrade for 15 month by paying the whole difference?
If so, do I have the option to pay a full priced PS+ Extra/Premium subscription for 1 month?

Re: EA Play Members Treated to an Indie Gem This Month

Olmaz

Fantastic hidden gem : the art design, the voice over and the ost are just wonderful!

For all those that try and play it, one tip to make the combat a lot more fun : be more aggressive, don't just wait for bombs or other spells to be available, go and use your weapons, the combat will become very fun and dynamic that way.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Horizon Forbidden West?

Olmaz

I had it pre-ordered (although I'm against pre-ordering, due to inflation, the prices in my country will go up very very soon so I decided to buy it before that happened... these things sadly happen in 3rd world countries).
But as with any games, I'll wait for a few patches to play it, just to be sure I get all the bugs ironed out, and all the quality of life additions that may come in the coming month.
I have enough to play right now (i.e. the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077, finally!) so I can wait.
