Re: Sony Bend Distances Itself from Ex-Director, Thanks Fans for Days Gone Support

Olmaz

I don't understand the outrage. This a typical case of a an ex-employee giving in a very awkward way the results of his reflection on what he see as a failure.
Part self-criticism (the game being buggy), part criticism of what he perceived as a lack of professionalism (in 2 different ways) of some reviewers who influenced the critical reception.
What is so outrageous to warrant such a negative response? It's just his opinion. And it's not offensive nor even weird, it's simply an opinion. Couldn't everyone just calm down and let the tweet disappear into oblivion, as most tweets do by themselves?

Re: Mini Review: Sable (PS5) - Beautiful Coming of Age Adventure

Olmaz

The stutter is a real shame. As a big fan of Moebius' comics, I was waiting for this for a long time, and the vibes , graphics and gameplay are spot on, from what I played.
But the stuttering framerate is really noticeable. I am a big 30fps gamer, I've played the original Blighttown without complaint, but this is a whole another level of bothering.
I hope with all my heart a patch will be coming very soon and have put the game on pause until then.

Re: Fortnite's Graphics Get a Huge Next-Gen Upgrade on PS5

Olmaz

@Jackpaza0508 I wouldn't call The Matrix Awakens a "game", but you're technically right.
I'm still baffled at the lack of noise around these knew "technologies" in gaming. The way games for PS5 will look and feel "next-gen" is not due to raw power (as the increment since last-gen is pretty small, all things considered), but the fact games will use Unreal Engine 5, FSR2.1 and VRR. Combine all these and you can make a game look like no PS4 game could, while maintaining a good performance.
Almost 2 years after launch, the lack of support for these technologies should be a big focus of any discussion about the PS5, but I see them mentioned only in passing (like for the Cyberpunk 2077 FSR2.1 update, or this article about Fortnite).

Re: Site News: Would You Kindly Fill in Our Reader Survey?

Olmaz

A kind and well intentioned advice : please don't put all these "gender" choices in the survey. It's an immediate "close tab" for me (and I know enough people feeling the same).
PS : not trying to spark a debate here, just giving PushSquare some feedback, anyone is free to disagree.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Has Full DualSense Support, Graphics Options, New Camera, Controls, Photo Mode, Much More

Olmaz

@Suur Well I want both raytraced reflections and lighting.
Reflections in the Witcher 3 will be hopefully raytraced (on PC) for any reflective surface : water, mirrors, windows, armors and other metal surfaces. This is a complete gamechanger for me. For example, playing Control with raytraced reflections was eye opening.
It's just sad that a 7 year old game can't manage them, especially now with FSR2.1 and VRR available.

Re: Multiple Voice Actors Discuss Becoming Kratos in God of War Ragnarok Dev Diary

Olmaz

The only real Kratos is Terrence C. Carson. The rage, the raucous grumbles... he is really the human warrior becoming a god by killing all the other gods!

Christopher Judge will always be Teal'c from Stargate SG-1 for me, and I just can't play the new God of War games without constantly breaking immersion because of it.

Sorry but not sorry : Gow3 > GoW2018 (I'll die on that hill).

Re: Yes, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Is a Paid Expansion, Makes Headlines for Some Reason

Olmaz

Just wanted to say : I finished the game just yesterday and it's f*** brillant! I loved it from start to finish. The city is an incredible achievement, the characters have fantastic story arcs (especially the connection between V and Johnny, I mean, the decisions at the end of the game were some of the hardest I've had to make in all my gaming years) and the gameplay quite engaging.
I understand the frustration of the people who bought it at launch, but frankly, and I don't want to do some victim blaming here, but why would anyone buy a game at launch anymore?

Re: Sonic Frontiers Director Acknowledges Feedback, 'We Still Have a Long Way to Go'

Olmaz

@Eldritch I mean, we've been at that point since at least mid-PS4 generation (even earlier I'd say).
Frankly, unless it is an heavily multiplayer game, there is absolutely no reason to buy any game at launch.
Wait for 6 to 9 months, buy the deluxe edition for at 50% and enjoy the better, cheaper, more complete version.
Done that for years now, and I've never regretted it even once.

Re: Ys X Targeting 2023 Release on PS5, PS4

Olmaz

@playstation1995 I am curious and thinking about digging in this series, starting with the PS5 port of 8.
What would you say are your main positive and negative points of the game so far?
For reference, I was in awe with Dragon Quest XI and finished it twice, but always have had trouble in finishing JRPG like the Tales of games because of the overcomplicated systems , the lacking graphics and sometimes simply the length.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.61 Out Now, Fixes Bugs and Adds Umbrellas

Olmaz

@LifeGirl I am playing through it right now and it is a very good game. I'm glad I waited to start it, but I consider the current version to be genuinely great, if you're ready to forget minor issues (still a few bugs, NPC animations a bit stiff, ***** driving mechanics).
The story is engaging, the characters interesting, the sidequests very fun and the city, just wow, what an incredibly atmospheric sandbox to lose yourself in. And of course, no ***** MTXs.
I'd say go for it, especially if you can get it for cheap.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.61 Out Now, Fixes Bugs and Adds Umbrellas

Olmaz

@Tomato_Goose I want to know that too. If it does, then it would be the first game that I know of that uses FSR2.1 on PS5.
Very exciting indeed. I still don't understand why it's not more widespread on PS5? What's the holdup? Even God of War Ragnarok doesn't have it, although GoW2018 has it on PC... very weird, as it will be one of the biggest improvement for games of this generation.
(this and Sony finally allowing permanent 120Hz output on PS5 so we can get all the benefits of VRR even for non-patched games).

Re: Evidence of Elden Ring DLC Mounts as Patch Files Indicate New Bosses Are Incoming

Olmaz

@jrt87 That's not very charitable. I'd say most of us just love the game enough to play it 3 times.
I know I won't save scum for a game as good as Elden Ring, especially since From Software did a good job with the trophies this time.

I still have to finish the game a 3rd time. I have 2 level150+ characters ready for the DLC, then I'll do NG+ with them using the new weapons/armor the DLC will bring. This will be my platinum.

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

Olmaz

@DrClayman You got it.
Although the "issue" is either a firmware one (Sony could enable 120Hz directly from the PS5,) or a software one (every game could have a 120Hz VRR mode).
The idea is to get the 120Hz output so that you can multiply frames when the framerate is under 48fps, so the results still lands between 48-120fps. You need a 120Hz output for that.
As for why Sony hasn't made a permanent 120Hz output available on PS5, I have absolutely no idea.

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

Olmaz

@DrClayman Not exactly.
Frame multiplication can start when under 48fps if the console output is high enough.
So with a 120Hz output, 35 fps could be multiplied by 2 (70fps) or 3 (105fps) to get within the 48-120fps VRR range.
This is what is called LFC (Low Frame Compensation).
But of course you need a 120Hz output, since for example you can't multiply 35fps to make it fit within the 48-120fps range if your output is limited to 60Hz.
This is why Sony has to very quickly allow constant 120Hz on PS5 (like the Xbox Series X does) to make the VRR experience better.

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

Olmaz

Every new game on PS5 should have a VRR option. I'll be perfectly ok with 2 modes : stable 30 fps, unlocked VRR 30fps+
Wasn't this the point of VRR (beside 60fps+ modes which are not for every game)?

And I'll join a lot of users here by saying this game is full of red flags and will end up in the deep sales bin in 2 months max.

Re: FIFA 23's World Cup Modes Leaked, Will Feature 48 Playable Teams

Olmaz

@nessisonett Russia in 2018 does not even come close to what is happening in Qatar right now. And justifying a bad decision by pointing out another bad one is never a good argument.
But I completely agree that these events (like the Olympics in China and so on) are the pure product of greed and corruption.
But yeah, if I need to draw a line, I'll draw it at death under slavery.

Re: Ed Boon: We Haven't Made the Last Mortal Kombat Yet

Olmaz

@z0d15g0d I'm with you : the customization can be a good idea.
But NetherRealm, even in Injustice 2 and MK10 has gone overboard. Even the fighting styles customization is too much for me. I play fighting games at an extremely amateurish level and I loved the simplicity of MK9. Just get in, look at the special moves, and that's enough to get hours of fun.
Add the Test your Might minigames just for fun, and it was a blast.
The design of Mk10, and even more of MK11, was also too much a deviation from the classical campy MK design, even if I'll admit MK11 still looks spectacular today.

Re: Man of Medan, Little Hope PS5 Versions Available to Download Now

Olmaz

OK everyone, it's gonna be one of these "Am I the only one" that I generally despise, but...
Am I the only one who thinks that House of Ashes was miles worse than any of the other games, in term of story, characters and especially of graphics?
I was shocked how bad it looked, and how generic and boring the story was... but every review I see put it at least on par with the other games, or even as a better one.
PS : I played HoA on PS5, in case anyone was wondering.

Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Demo Out Now on PS5

Olmaz

@Shepherd_Tallon Of course, I'm dumb for not recognizing it immediately, what with the !
Is the anime any good? I really liked the manga and was waiting for the second part of the season to be out to try the anime...

Re: Rumour: Tons of PSVR2 Devs Porting PSVR Games to New Headset

Olmaz

@BeerIsAwesome Sadly Driveclub is gone now, so a port (not even an upgraded one) is out of the question.
That's a shame, as Driveclub is still is the best racing game (excluding more cartoonish ones like Crash Team Racing) of the PS4 era for me, and the PSVR version was incredibly immersive, even with the much downgraded graphics....
