Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Most of the trailers actually had some gameplay. Nothing worse than the all CG game reveals (are these games or movies?). When Dead Island 2 is your big end of show game, though, you can tell that this wasn't a show full of heavy hitters.
So I guess I clearly should have waited... 3 years before playing this one. What the heck, why is a short metroidvania being treated like a live service game?
@shadow2k So you want every game to have the exact same realistic artstyle? Sounds pretty boring to me. I'm not interested in this game, but the artstyle definitely makes it stand out.
This will give me a good reason to try this out again. Couldn't get into it the first time I tried. Flying around felt so clunky and the visuals were kind of unappealing.
@Sil_Am There are plenty of indies on Switch, but not PS. Here's just a few of the more notable ones: Inmost, Everhood, Unavowed, Eastward, Steel Assault, The Legend of Tian Ding, Dark Deity, Panzer Paladin
@themightyant It's really not multiple playthroughs, and I hate how the game has been described this way, because it misleads people, like in your case. Okay, there are sort of two playthroughs, but they're very unique. After those two are done, it's all new content from there.
@djlard It's my least favourite trend of modern games right now. Every cool-looking indie, I have to check first to see if it's a roguelike, before I get too interested.
1. God of War Ragnarok
2. The Callisto Protocol
3. Last of Us Part 1
4. Crisis Core
5. Digimon Survive
6. Monochrome Mobius
7. Evil West
8. Valkyrie Elysium
9. Trails from Zero
10. Midnight Suns
@TeapotBuddha It was received well pretty much everywhere other than this site, so now of course Push Square will always refer to it as a disappointing game, despite the general reception.
@AFCC easy solution would be not to buy games at launch. I don't think I've bought a single game at launch in the last 10 years. You might even save a bit of money
Hoping that Observer: System Redux will be included. It was annoying that there was no upgrade path for those that already purchased the original Observer
@DETfaninATL That's odd. I've been playing for 30+ hours and I feel like maybe 5% or less of my time has been in dialogue. Are you playing only the main story or something? There are tons of sidequests all over the place that are very action-focused.
@RubyCarbuncle, I agree. It's cool that this exists, but with my limited gaming time, time that I spend playing this board game, is time that I'm not exploring the world, fighting robot dinosaurs, and enjoying the story. It was the same for me with The Witcher 3, Trails of Cold Steel, etc.
Everyone complaining, you realize that nothing is being removed from the game right? You can still play on the same difficulty that you've been enjoying up till now. And they're even adding a hard mode. Funny how no one complains about that, even though it's also not the original, "intended" experience.
Microsoft swoops in when ActiBlizz reputation is at its lowest point. Now they get all these IPs, they can clean house (hopefully including Bobby Kotick), and reap the benefits. Pretty smart move. Wouldn't be surprised if the Activision Blizzard name is retired completely.
I don't care about Godfall, but I am mainly concerned about the precedent that this sets for the future of ps+. Full games are no longer guaranteed apparently.
This article finally convinced me to cancel my ps plus subscription. I don't play online and month after month, there has rarely been a free game offered that I either haven't already played or have no interest in. I'll put that money toward gamepass when I get an Xbox some day.
I really hope this is just testing the waters, before they roll out a full trial program for all games on psn. Seeing as their refund system is notoriously strict.
I agree completely with this article. It was a great show, yet still felt like a lot was missing. The two new reveals were just very brief CG teasers, everything else we already knew about.
Sony has what? 16 studios? I was expecting to learn more about what some of these studios are working on. The only surprise was Wolverine.
Maybe this is asking for too much, but I think that Sony should give a selection of titles to choose from each month. Lately, I either already own the games being offered or have no interest, making the PS+ cost not worthwhile.

Re: Layers of Fears Gets a Lick of Paint in Eye-Catching PS5 Trailer
The first game was alright, but is there really so much demand for this series that it's now getting a third entry?
Re: The Lords of the Fallen Drops the 2, Brings Gothic RPG Action to PS5
Looks like it could be an enjoyable movie.. Oh that was a game trailer?

Deathloop is rumored to be coming to Xbox within the next couple of months. That could hardly be considered "years"
Re: Rollerdrome (PS5) - Just As Good As Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
@shadow2k
that's... not at all what I said, but ok
Re: Rollerdrome (PS5) - Just As Good As Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
@shadow2k
That's just unrealistic. Only a tiny percentage of studios have the budget needed to push the system.
Re: All-Time Low Prices in New PS Store Bethesda Sale
tempting, but as soon as Deathloop and Ghostwire come to xbox, they're going to be on gamepass day 1, so I'll continue waiting
Re: Mini Review: Thymesia (PS5) – A Poor Take on the Souls-Like Formula
wow, took a look at opencritic, and the reception is very very mixed. Scores all the way from 8.5 to 3/10

Re: Digimon Survive (PS4) - Darker Digimon Story Carries Some Flat RPG Elements
How does this compare to the Utawarerumono series, as far as the division between visual novel and battle segments? Something like 70/30, 60/40?

They seem almost embarrassed to admit that this is a turn-based strategy game. Watching this video, you would think it's straight action

4. Crisis Core
5. Digimon Survive
6. Monochrome Mobius
7. Evil West
8. Valkyrie Elysium
