While it's all just personal opinions and differing tastes the fact that Gacha games, no matter how well made get onto these lists and even potential GoTY contenders is exactly why publishers chase the F2P/Live Service/FOMO. I mean I play 7DS Grand Cross and SF Duel on my phone and have played many others over the years but they disrespect your time in the biggest way, most are predatory and gate progress. They should be in their own category imo.
@RatmCky I think the point was just because it's a good single player game doesn't mean it will sell sell sell, hence the example. I didn't see anything that even remotely suggested they want single player games to fail 🤔
Also, 7 million copies over 7 years is good for what it is but in this day and age, nope pretty bad. You've got games selling a couple of mill in a week and these suits want the pennies...like...NOW!! not a decade later which is fair but on the flip, gaming gets stale.
Not a bad game and I did enjoy my time with it but the "power of friendship" is eurghhh. Supposed to be a gritty story that hits on hard or emotional subjects boiled down to an anime cliche. Also I don't like the disconnect that the class based combat gives me. Like what the hell is Nanba actually doing in these fights because he sure as **** isn't dressed as a host blasting people with champagne. This and the Pokémon like game, like is this real or is Ichiban off his nut on LSD constantly? It's kinda weird, even for Yakuza, same with dondoko island. I did it all but it's nowhere near the host club mini game.
Wow people really love Rebirth on here. I played Silent Hill 2 on its PS2 release. Got half way and was thoroughly bored and didn't understand it's place in peoples hearts. The remake made me fully appreciate why people in fact love the game. On top of that the atmosphere now is genuinely creepy, the visuals for the environment at least are near photorealistic in parts and the sound design, especially ambient is brilliant. Had me on my guard at all times and the only other horror games to do this EVER for me was Resi 1 when I was much younger and the original Dead Space.
Also they improved on what was there with nods to the old games, Rebirth changed what was there, sometimes to it's detriment. I thought the Temple of the Ancients for example was rubbish in the remake and overstayed it's welcome. The gold Saucer was awesome but lost the really fun roller coaster mini game. Queens blood was great but the side story wasn't. I'd prefer it being like 8 instead where you just challenge people.
Also maybe the guys at Push Square have differing tastes, shock. These are don't between all the staff. I see universal praise for Persona 5, I think it's an overrated slog where parts might have just been a visual novel for how much exposition there was and because of that it put me off even wanting to try any other Persona. But different strokes and all that.
@Balaam_ While I love trophy's myself although not to the extent of yourself I presume I watch a playstation access on hardest platsbthe other week. Rebirth was of course on it due to the excessive grind of mini games and Chandley sims but Balatro was also there. Apparently it has an insane trophy that requires a perfect set up over multiple games and is virtually pure rng sooooo not sure if it's actually worse than FF7 🤔
I'm loving the Dragon Quest HD 2-D remake. The missus is being my mini Medal and monster catching "guide lady" 🤣
As much as I really enjoyed my time with Infinite Wealth and played over 150 hrs the story at mid point and the ending especially were terrible in comparison to previous entries and I do echo the thoughts above, the "power of friendship" anime cliche is really cringe when you consider the general grittiness of the other games Inc Judgement.
Rebirth is in a strange position for me. I didn't go for the plat but I did all but one side quest, all of the overworked activities minus certain spoilers, completed queens blood and played for over 120hrs. But for all that I could never put it on one of these lists and I can't think of a reason 🤔 anyway, for me the best part of the game is the characters, I really think they did an excellent job of expanding every single one and so got really attached to all of them, especially my fav Barrett. The environment was a let down in how barren and samey it looked and it didn't look much better than the first on PS4 except the models themselves. I played Forbidden West straight after this and it showed there was no really excuse for all of the bad texture work and shoddy models.
Anyway, I'd deffo have Silent Hill 2 and Astro Bot but i still haven't played enough of Space Marine despite having it since launch, bloody Yakuza took over 🤣

@SystemAddict Can you not do both? I can, especially as it takes me mere seconds to read the English text before the characters have finished speaking Japanese and they are literally standing still for most of them.
I play most games in English but I'm going through Metro Exodus now and playing in Russian. I now change to the native dialogue If the game is set in the real world location or equivalent and if it's available. Just feels better. I wouldn't play resi 2 in Japanese and I can't play Yakuza in English, it's weird to me. These people look Japanese, they are in Japan for the most part with Japanese names. The English dubs of stuff like this are generally terrible, Goro is so unique in his tone and delivery, falls apart outside the native language and so many English dubs say the names incorrectly to.
I liked it for what it was, a middle of the road platformer with a Sonic skin. It also has one of the most tedious and dull end boss fights I have ever played. Sonic is just a merchandise cash cow now with his games having little to no relevance anymore. I have never cared for the films, the awful CG TV shows and the cheesy as a Wensleydale factory cringe overload dialogue. Sonic Mania is still the benchmark for 2D and...well.......3D has to be generations even if the physics were off for classic Sonic.
Missed a pun with the w"hole" new location bit. Loved this game but there wasn't any real reason to go back to it if you 100% plus I was slightly disappointed in the selection of creatures the further down you got.

Easiest way to transfer your data is upload your saves to the cloud, pop your games on an external HDD (if you have one of course) then just pop them on your pro. I think the guide on this site mentions putting games on an external doesn't work but this isn't true, the PS5 doesn't tell you to format your drive if you've already used it on your original ps5 because that's how I did it.
I loved International Superstar Soccer Pro, real basic stuff but great fun. Played it so much I used to beat the AI about 30-40 nil on the hardest difficulty. Love to play it again.
The switch just appeals to such a wide demographic which helps it enormously. I have one and enjoyed my time using it but some games just look like ass in handheld. Tried playing Xenoblade this year for the first time since i pre ordered it for release near a year before. My god I may as well have smeared vaseline in my eyes.
Sony are no saints but I don't understand why Ninty doesn't get the flack it should. No mainline Mario in 7 years which is ironically longer than the hiatus Sonic went on after the Mega drive. Their release games still command top whack, they remove and make ltd runs of games and more remasters than Sony and Microsoft combined, Pokémon is a mess and still shifts millions. I love some of their IPs and have fond memories of the N64 and GC but they slack big time.
The best time for gaming was the 90's up until the early mid 00's for me. So many genres are dead, Devs and publishing houses killed off and the entire industry is crumbling while it's anchors itself on AAA liber service and gacha games. Glad I was able and lucky enough as a kid to experience the MD, SNES, PSX SATURN, N64 and the DC.
I'm much to lazy to try and remember all the games and then go to each individual entry but a Shout Out to Tomb Raider 1, Resident Evil 2, Vigilante 8, DOOM, Super Puzzle Fighter, Croc, Dino Crisis 2, Exhumed/Power Slave, FFVII, Destruction Derby 2, International Superstar Soccer Pro, FIFA France 98 and the tech demon with the T-Rex 🦖 🤣
Silent hill hasn't had a patch since the 25/10 it isn't patched at all for the pro which apparently means it isn't using PSSR. I read it's in boost mode so it's showing issues with the extra oomph that weren't so noticeable prior. People on PC have the shimmer as well. That said it's runs better FPS wise though, just the reflections are messed up, especially in performance mode.
@Cerny Nope, sorry man but you don't speak for everyone I'm afraid. I play games at 120,60 and 30 where applicable on a TV that supports all the pros features. Difference between 120 and 60 is no where near as defined as the jump from 30 to 60 but after less than five minutes my brain has adjusted to the 30 and the same going back up.
Never seen a hint of stuttering on my OLED while playing a game at 30fps. During the summer I played through Horizon Forbidden West and prior FF Rebirth but in fidelity mode and neither had it.or even a frame drop. Silent Hill 2 drops frames in fidelity mode and it's blatantly obvious when it does but no stuttering due to the TVs processing.
In 4 years there may be a ps6 but if it's anything like this gen all the games will be PS5 for the next 4 years afterwards if the numbers end up at the 100 mil mark. Still getting PS4 versions of some games even now.
@carlos82 I played through it in fidelity mode as I can play games at 30fps 😱 but the pop in or more the drawing in of certain assets was there if memory serves. That along with some good awful textures and in lots of instances textures that just never loaded at all. It's an issue with the engine and developers AGAIN. after Rebirth I played Forbidden West, a base PS4 game and although I'm not the highest fan of its gameplay the visuals were amazing. FF Remakes don't look great outside main character models and certain towns so there isn't much of an excuse, he'll the sections in the Midgar seem to use the old blurry plate jpeg 🤣
Sony port games to PC to grab some extra cash from another market. We've played the game on our Playstation and the PC players who didn't or those who prefer the Mega Ultra Version wait and play it there. I doubt it takes a severe amount of man power to do so and gets Sony money from another market. However typical Sony damage this by literally making it so thousands of people can't buy the damn thing even if they wanted.
Also maybe PC players aren't enamored with the open world cinematic collect-a-thons. Years ago I used to see on forums a lot PC gamers complaining they didn't have access to a wealth of different games that were only on console or if they were ported, done pretty badly. They have those now along with thousands of other titles across multiple genre's. If it wasn't for the Indie Devs console gaming would be dying a death for me personally that along with all the studios that have gone and the myriad of genres and IP's we've lost. Sorry, went off track there.
@Americansamurai1 well you can, you buy every studio in the world and shut them all leaving just you. I mean you would need an INSANE amount of wealth for this lol
Not that this has anything do to with this article but Capcom for the first part of this financial year have sold more games on PC than all 3 consoles combined. Gah, if Sony don't do something I'll be one of them at some point because at the moment I'm just here due to my investment in the eco system rather than the product they produce. Like NES said, they are coasting on people like me. It's a shame MS aren't more competition anymore tbh.
I'm just playing my games while waiting for the inevitable crash that destroys the whole market. It seems more a question of when now rather than if. Damn shame for the Devs though, kinda like the opposite of football. Team plays *****, sack the manager, game is a failure due to suits, well better sack the overworked Devs instead...
30fps isn't viable for this type of game eh? Hmmm I must be special because I can play a reaction based game like this fine with 30, no issues whatsoever in all my 30 odd years of gaming. Now 60 and above is definitely smoother and more responsive no doubt but all of this talk in the past decade especially, that a game at 30 is like running through treacle is bs.
I still had the options the other day, checked just now and it's gone. Still I find it funny that it cost more stars points to buy dredge for example from the "rewards" rather than converting the points to cash and then buying it from the store. Maybe they are just to impet to work stuff like that out so get rid instead.
Love how people only recently realised they were buying a license when you get a digital game or cd or movie and not actually "owning" it. Thing is it's the same with a physical game, even used to say so in the manuals in them good olde days. Benefits to physical are resale and the fact if the servers shut off you have your game. Problem is, and it's one i rarely see debates is the fact that near on most games are imperfect at release.
I have my physical copy of Witcher 3 for example. Servers are down and anyone who has a digital copy or HAD a digital copy now can't play it, but I can. Great, until you realise you can't get the plethora of patches that fixed the damn thing. On release there were bugs galore, broken quest lines, dodgy animation, sound glitches, the rain was messed up, no storage chests and the list goes on. Yes you have you little cd or blu ray in your hand but good luck if you haven't got is stored on a HDD as the vast majority of games without patches are almost worthless.
@NEStalgia I agree, as in both games he to me is THE best character by a country mile, far more interesting and enigmatic than Aloy and co and without his voice it just won't be the same.
@Fishnpeas While that's a perfectly logical way to do the fact this is stuttering and dropping frames on a PS5 even the base model is terrible. As the review says it's a 13 year old 360/PS3 game and I don't recall much in the way of drops when I played it all those years ago. Sega seem pretty inept in this respect tbh.
7/10 enjoyed swinging around the city and loved the way fast travel worked, zooming into the map already on the move was great. Graphically it looked near on identical, to me at least to the PS4 game, combat was ok but still not enough impact for a dude who can lift more than 2 tons. I don't care much for Miles and they did very little with Venom, very little with Kraven and very little with the goblin. I can barely remember the story and why oh why did we need evil white man invading on black culture? Was it really necessary to include our current politics and social situations in a Spiderman game that has no relation to our world outside the city it's based in?
Just like someone else mentioned. This, Forbidden West and Ragnarok are great looking and fun games to play but so by the numbers and derivative of the previous game they barely need to exist.
@RubyCarbuncle I'm 40 and I believe it's less about remakes and remasters because outside of some rather pointless ones like Until Dawn and maybe this (although it's not like you need to buy the whole thing again) I've really enjoyed them. I personally believe it's more related to how big gaming became. When I was a kid and through the ps1 and Saturn up to the DC and MAYBE the 360 there was so much genre variety. The bigger the industry the more it starts to cater to the majority and of course the younger generation because that's where the cash is. Is old fossils wanting car combat games or side scrollers etc are old news. Big old photo realistic story driven games seem to sell and that's what we keep getting. Same with open world, it was fun at first but now it's tired and only a handful can captivate.
I find most of my gaming time is actually on Indie titles, remasters of old games and classic collections. In terms of cash grabs we've had those for decades though.
@Loamy Your to close to the TV my man. There are normally recommend viewing distances for each size of screen. Yours is 1.7 metres so your a little to near the screen me thinks.
After playing 2 and 3 on the first collection properly (only played a bit of 2 and a demo of 3 on the ps1) using Stella's Guides to numb the irritation of them. Seriously half the levels in 3 make no logistical sense, I still stand by 1 being the best game. It just oozes atmosphere and isolation which is something I have never had from any of the other games and potentially not these either. I had one of these on the Dreamcast but just couldn't get into it so maybe I can try again.
I'm not a fan of Soul Reaver and from what I remember of the games after the first 2 they were pretty terrible Jank as well. I'm waiting impatiently for Dino Crisis and Blood Omen, always wanted to play that.
But what have SEGA done themselves? They have more IP than you can shake a stick at and this year we get a remaster of a good 3D sonic game (the only one except unleashed I genuinely like) and Yakuza almost a year apart. I'm not a fan of Persona after playing 5, to much of a text dump fest and half the time I wondered why it isn't just a visual novel but these and Unicorn are other Studios games that has the SEGA name attached. I'm really hoping those games they are developing are actually good because this is the company that made in one way or another Streets of Rage, Comic Zone, Shinobi, Ristar, Crazy Taxi, Sega Rally, Virtual Fighter, Fighting Vipers, The House of the Dead, Daytona, Sonic, Golden Axe, ECCO and way more. Man I miss old Sega 😭
Here's how you stop it. You of course can't stop people purchasing and trying to profit. However you can NOT BUY FROM A SCALPER and thus they have wasted their money and maybe might think twice in the future. Of course this won't happen because for every scalper there are 3 people willing to pay through the ass for it so it will always happen with anything ltd, always.
I saw this list on the store last night and face palmed that Until Dawn, a remake of a near decade old PS4 game has a PS5 pro tag and it isn't even out yet 🤣
The base PS5 should have been the Pro's specs so they could deliver on what people expected a new console to actually achieve. The PS5 is like a PS4 pro+ and then this mid gen upgrade for the £700 could have been nearing a really good PC spec. Not extremely close considering the price of the graphics cards of course but something beefier.
Part of the PS4 pro being a useful upgrade for those that wanted it was the price alongside dropping the cost of the base model, the bigger internal storage and the QUIETNESS because my god did the poor old PS4 pop off on certain games.
Anyone wish they would use the extra horsepower of today's tech to push something different with actual gameplay and the way we interact and the enemies interact with the world using more advanced physics for one? More destructible terrain, physics applied to objects that are on the characters body maybe? I mean people keep going on about ray tracing but it adds very little to the game, if anything. I see it's worth in the design field from which it came, how light reacts and enters buildings and domiciles is important architecturally but in the videogame world it's just another pretty things for graphics pandering. We still have clipping going on.
I would love the ability to damage an environment in real time or in say Monster Hunter use the world as a weapon or for defence or the ability for these giant creatures body parts to not pass through "solid" objects but instead to interact with them, bounce off, break etc.
That's just one tiny example but it will never happen if everything is going into pure visuals. It may be my age but the last time I really cared about graphics was the release of the 360 and Project Gotham. Since then and things edging to photo realism, it just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I'm alone in this though or at least with the fellow 40 and above crowd 🤣
This generation of consoles is a running joke so far. Barely any exclusives 4 years in and an updated machine that is being used to cover up inept optimisation slapped with a price sticker of 800 quid if you need a disc drive so I can play 1-2 year old games how they should have played from the start. Luckily for me I don't mind fidelity modes as long as it's a locked and smooth 30fps so for instance ReBirth was fine, although it's blatantly the engine along with bad op as even at 30 textures didn't load in, low res textures and assets all over the place. Square aren't an indie dev so why can Demons Souls look like it does IN performance mode and Forbidden West at least now in fidelity looks so much better than FF. Rebirths Visuals outside the towns aren't even very good in comparison and the animations outside canned battle skills and cutscenes aren't great either. I'm glad I can pay some extra cash to fix it though 🤣
Still not worth it to me. I read a lot of people preferred the story in the first but as I only played it once on release I can't even remember it and I just recently got around to finally playing Forbidden West. Gorgeous game but same old open world bloat. Neither game is amazing with the best thing about both being Sylens (sp) great character.
I knew the licensed soundtrack was gone but does Wayne Static still Voce the punk dude in the junkyard or did they have to dub it? That's all from a hazy 10 year memory.
Oh yeah, what about that infamous seashell outfit. Wonder if that's in there or has been taken out? The censorship brigade is probably already up in arms if it was.

Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade
Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade
@Cerny Pretty sure people do, in fact I can play a game in 30fps with no issues at all which means I'm the one person ruining you statement 🤣
Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade
In 4 years there may be a ps6 but if it's anything like this gen all the games will be PS5 for the next 4 years afterwards if the numbers end up at the 100 mil mark. Still getting PS4 versions of some games even now.
Re: Hands On: Serious Pop-In the Only Problem with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Massive PS5 Pro Boost
Re: PS5 Dominates UK Black Ops 6 Sales, As Game Pass Causes Xbox Share to Collapse
@Weebleman SEGA are gonna stealth release the best console of all time, just watch (in my dreams) 😭

@NoHope 390 watts if my memory serves, from Eurogamer.
Re: More People Are Playing the Original Horizon Zero Dawn Than Its Remaster on PC
Re: Labour Union Blasts Sony for Looking to Further Monopoly with Studio Closures
@Americansamurai1 well you can, you buy every studio in the world and shut them all leaving just you. I mean you would need an INSANE amount of wealth for this lol
Re: Sony Adopting 'Show Don't Tell' Strategy with PS5
Not that this has anything do to with this article but Capcom for the first part of this financial year have sold more games on PC than all 3 consoles combined. Gah, if Sony don't do something I'll be one of them at some point because at the moment I'm just here due to my investment in the eco system rather than the product they produce. Like NES said, they are coasting on people like me. It's a shame MS aren't more competition anymore tbh.
Re: PS5, PC Flop Concord Never Returning, Studio Closed Down
I'm just playing my games while waiting for the inevitable crash that destroys the whole market. It seems more a question of when now rather than if. Damn shame for the Devs though, kinda like the opposite of football. Team plays *****, sack the manager, game is a failure due to suits, well better sack the overworked Devs instead...
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Beta Is Prompting Fans to Reconsider PS5 Pro
30fps isn't viable for this type of game eh? Hmmm I must be special because I can play a reaction based game like this fine with 30, no issues whatsoever in all my 30 odd years of gaming. Now 60 and above is definitely smoother and more responsive no doubt but all of this talk in the past decade especially, that a game at 30 is like running through treacle is bs.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5) - The Best BioWare Game Since Mass Effect 3
@themightyant It's good to see someone with critical thinking on the internet, seems a lost cause these days so have a lovely cookie 🍪 ❤️
Re: PS5, PS4 Fans Are Worried Cash Rewards Have Been Removed from PS Stars
I still had the options the other day, checked just now and it's gone. Still I find it funny that it cost more stars points to buy dredge for example from the "rewards" rather than converting the points to cash and then buying it from the store. Maybe they are just to impet to work stuff like that out so get rid instead.
Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive
Re: Horizon's Sylens Will Be Recast Following the Passing of Lance Reddick
@NEStalgia I agree, as in both games he to me is THE best character by a country mile, far more interesting and enigmatic than Aloy and co and without his voice it just won't be the same.
Re: Sonic X Shadow Generations (PS5) - Shadow the Star of This Splendid Platforming Package
Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Would You Rate Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5?
Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Sounds Like a Ridiculously Good PS5 Upgrade
Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Showcases the Problem with Sony's Games on PS5 Pro
@Loamy Your to close to the TV my man. There are normally recommend viewing distances for each size of screen. Yours is 1.7 metres so your a little to near the screen me thinks.
Re: Love Classic Lara Croft? Play the Crap Tomb Raider Trilogy on PS5, PS4
Re: SEGA Has Been Quietly Killing It This Year, Regularly Publishing Bangers
Re: Sony Fights Scalpers in Japan By Demanding PS5, PS4 Playtime
Here's how you stop it. You of course can't stop people purchasing and trying to profit. However you can NOT BUY FROM A SCALPER and thus they have wasted their money and maybe might think twice in the future. Of course this won't happen because for every scalper there are 3 people willing to pay through the ass for it so it will always happen with anything ltd, always.
Re: PS Store Confirms Lots More PS5 Pro Enhanced Games with New Tag
I saw this list on the store last night and face palmed that Until Dawn, a remake of a near decade old PS4 game has a PS5 pro tag and it isn't even out yet 🤣
Re: The Last of Us Part 1 and 2 Will Both Look and Perform Better than Ever on PS5 Pro
Re: 'PS5 Pro Is a Really Good Investment,' Argue Tech Experts After Hands-On
Anyone wish they would use the extra horsepower of today's tech to push something different with actual gameplay and the way we interact and the enemies interact with the world using more advanced physics for one?
Re: PS5 Pro Will Supposedly Fix Rise of the Ronin's Shoddy Frame Rate
Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 Wins Over PlayStation Fans
Still not worth it to me. I read a lot of people preferred the story in the first but as I only played it once on release I can't even remember it and I just recently got around to finally playing Forbidden West. Gorgeous game but same old open world bloat. Neither game is amazing with the best thing about both being Sylens (sp) great character.
Re: Mini Review: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP (PS5) - A Sweet Return with a Bittersweet Bite
