Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024?

Stale-Bread

None for me but I will never understand why people seem to sub for the games? I've always subscribed for online and the decent discounts you get, never for the bonus games. Still each to their own. Also while I also understand the cost issue I look at it that's it less than 1 meal at Mc Donalds a month. In fact it's only slightly more than magazines began to cost in the mid 2000's. Hell official Dreamcast magazine used to cost 6 quid in 2001 😭

Re: PS5, PS4's New PS2 Emulator Fails to Pass Tech Test

Stale-Bread

Personally I'm not to interested in emulated old games, especially ones that were quite common. Now if this was used to bring back rarer titles, or things that went under the radar for me I'd have a gander. However I do think digital foundry is ass, does anyone my age care as much about all of this (I'm the big 4-0) I of course want the game to work but it seems to feed into the visual side nitpicking everything. Guess it's why visual/artistic style seems to have all but disappeared to be replaced with as hyper realistic characters and environs as we can get while people whine about how a game like rebirth looks like its from a PS3 apparently. Sorry off topic a tad and I am old now lol

Re: Dead Rising's PS5 Remaster Headlines Capcom Next Livestream

Stale-Bread

Couldn't get into this all them years ago. I hate with a passion time restricted anything in games (outside racing) and the whole premise is time restricted 🤣 obviously fits the narrative and theme but not for me. I'm still waiting on a Dino Crisis remake goddamit!! It keeps appearing on polls and we only got 2 good games. I dunno...maybe in the future 😭

Re: GTA 6 Fans Nervous As GTA Online Locks Crucial Quality of Life Feature Behind GTA+ Sub on PS5, PS4

Stale-Bread

While things like this are indeed predatory and scummy we really should be bemoaning a large portion of the consumer base for this and other games, if nobody bought it, well it wouldn't exist. Thing is people will and do. Have you guys seen the cash that Honkai Star Rail pulls in a month? It's ridiculous. They make the budget of a AAA game in 8 weeks just from people pulling for characters. It blows my mind that this kind of thing exists at all but humans gonna human.

Re: Square Enix's Forgotten PS1 Fighting Force Franchise Beats the Count on PS5, PS4

Stale-Bread

@PuppetMaster Isn't viewtiful Joe on a 2d plane though? I could be misremembering as it's been a hot decade or 2 since I played it.

As for these, had the sequel on the DC and while I enjoyed it enough to complete I'd hardly consider it worthy or bringing back and the first didn't seem like it was great either.

I also second the poster who says that side/belt scrollers don't work well in 3d. Yakuza is ok to a point but the combat was the weakest part of the game for me with some of the cheesiest bosses I've ever beaten. Judgement improved on it quite a bit, especially the sequel and the snake stance.

Also I can only assume this will be overpriced at about £25 like the recently released Rocket Knight collection. I forgave them with Jurassic Park (just bought it on sale) as I assumed licence fees had to be paid but these collections are to much and.im.not normally like this regarding games. If treasure can release Guardian Heroes (a while back I know) and even Konami can put out a Castlevania collection with New Generation/Bloodlines on it for 15 quid then so can these as both of those games to buy in the used market set you back £100 or more.

Re: Mini Review: Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (PS4) - A Monster of a Sequel and a Superb RPG

Stale-Bread

@Ralizah True, in fact don't forget the 2d poke clones. Nexomon is really good and I have another on my switch but can't recall it's name. I find it amusing that the best part of the newer poke games are the Pokémon models themselves and apparently they aren't made by game freak but out sourced and it shows. Like you I loved Arceus and was hoping the follow up games had the same catch in the wild mechanics without having to battle. It didn't 😭

Re: Brilliant PS5, PS4 Angling Outing Dredge Adding More Monstrosities on 15th August

Stale-Bread

@Beerheadgamer82 It's better when you upgrade the speed of your boat and I did like it (I bought it on sale just before it went on plus and wanted another fish fix after 80 hours with Dave. Whilst it's enjoyable it isn't as good as it could be or even as it's made out to be. The "fishing" isn't very interactive and the economy after a few hours is almost pointless because it's so easy to make money. Only trophy I have left is getting all abberated fish now and it's just a chore as I didn't realise a certain power up guarantees one. Not a bad game just not as good as Dave imo.

Re: PS5 Packaging No Longer Mentions 8K, Some Fans Accuse Sony of False Advertising

Stale-Bread

How is it false advertising? The logos merely state that the PS5 is capable of outputting at 8k, HDR and whatever else. To my knowledge Sony does not state that the games and media WILL be in 8k. If people generally thought the PS5 was going to be able to output 4k at 60 or even 8k it's on them because I knew from the off of we get a native 4k game the only way it will be running at 60 or above would be for pixel based or very confined games like a walking simulator. For anyone with an avid interest in games or it being their main hobby I would hope they wouldnt be expecting a game like Horizon to be blasting along at native 8k 120 🤣

Also it's no different to TVs stating they are HDR. Cheaper television sets can in fact display it so again they are lying or falsely advertising but they generally don't get bright enough to have any impact. Internet gonna moan and another article coming from the depths of Reddit....

Re: Octopath Traveler 1 Receives PS5, PS4 Age Ratings Ahead of SGF Show

Stale-Bread

I just recently played and beat the first on my switch, just a little over 100 odd hours. I loved it but the 2nd game really improved a lot, the beast taming was massively improved for instance, along with party interaction and job diversity. It has a cool night and day mechanic relating to your characters over world skills. Going back from the sequel would be odd so Im glad I didn't get round to 2 until now.

I third the to many games no time, Trying to play rebirth, hifi rush, octo 2 and prince of Persia while still trying to get around to GranBlue. Monster Hunter Stories is out next week and I STILL haven't played Horizon Forbidden West yet 😞

Re: Soapbox: Once a PS4 Console Exclusive, PS5 Players Are Missing a Visual Stunner in Hellblade 2

Stale-Bread

So all I read is how visually stunning it is and it's stunning visuals and the impressive visuals fidelity that puts you into stun land....annnnd with simple puzzles and some combat.

I'm so sick of games just being graphics now with little to no innovation or use of physics and better ai. Anyone remember Vigilante 8 on PS1 or Red Faction on PS2? I always wanted to see destructible environments like that where you could freely take apart buildings etc. They would have their own "skeletons" like a real structure so you could manipulate them. Well we will never get it because with more power comes more shiny rather than dial back the graphics a gen or 2 but give us something awesome to play with. Games like this are like walking through a still life oil painting, look lovely but nothing bloody moves and interaction is barely possible.

Re: Video: Does Fallout 4 Look Better on PS5?

Stale-Bread

@DennisReynolds I agree with this and in the case of AAA I barely play them anymore. Most of my gaming comes from the awesome indie titles available or AA games.

A lot of it depends on your genre likes and such as well. I'm still gutted that no big studio makes platformers anymore outside Nintendo. No car combat games, no arcade sports titles like the brilliant NBA street and not even a choice in regular sports anymore. I remember when you could buy FIFA or ISS or total football or Sega Worldwide Soccer, Actua Soccer. Very limited now. Sorry went off topic there.

But yeah to get back on point it's incredibly disingenuous to suggest this year so far has been bad. If you don't like the general or the game fine but for actual games worth buying in a general sense there has been loads. I'll add in HiFi Rush and the new dark souls cute crab game is meant to be pretty good as well. Good games from the indie sector and mainstream Devs so far.

Re: EA Japan Exec Criticises Rating Board for Apparent Stellar Blade Special Treatment

Stale-Bread

@Northern_munkey Seems a strange place with some odd double standards, well at least it looks like it on the surface. All the big booby skimpy anime girls that don't look a day past 10 years old having copious upskirt shots in media is cool beans, but actual sexual material meant for adults gets the private areas pixelated. Then as you say, the down right weird and a lot of times incredibly violent films and then censor that gore in that adult videogame. Quite odd.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Has Sold Around 2 Million Copies, PS5 Player Data Suggests

Stale-Bread

I used to be all for exclusives when I was younger even though it was a real pain the arse to miss out on loads and back then it was loads of games. Nowadays I see little point. 1st party I can still get the idea but 3rd party exclusives should just stop now. Do many people even care as much nowadays? Like in the late 90's and mid 2000's quite a few of us, me included would buy multiple consoles and as I've aged and gaming has stagnated so much I reckon most stick to the one and it would have to be something truly special for a consumer to purchase another machine to play 1 title.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for April 2024?

Stale-Bread

Dave the Diver for sure. I just stick to extra now as premium is still awful for it's variety. Soooo soooo many ps1 games missing. Then again so many of those studios have long since passed and acquiring the rights to certain games is probably to much for them to bother with. I'd love Dino crisis, vigilante 8, destruction derby 2 and Loaded to go up.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

Stale-Bread

Am I a weird outlier that can tell the difference between 30 and 60 straight away? Smoother camera pans, overall better movement and more responsive but If I go back to 30 my eyes and brain adjust after about 60 seconds and no longer see the "judder" until I switch back or play another game at 60? Maybe my brain just has to much processing power lol 😆

Re: Stellar Blade's Protagonist's Body Is Based on This Real-World Korean Model

Stale-Bread

@GreatAuk Your examples are bs mate. Yeah people criticise things all them time, everyone's a critic and all that but at the end of the day your criticism means jack if you have no idea or very little experience in what your critiquing to begin with. Look at all the people who do it with sport and yet most of them have no idea whatsoever what it's like to be a professional. So yeah your free to do so and have an opinion of course, whether it's valid or means something is very different.

Of course some women look for financial success or life accomplishments in a man. Not denying it. But how many women do you know that SOLELY look at a male purely for his body. I'm talking real life, not your red pill alpha male crying bs from the internet. Bet you won't find much. Now try it with blokes. The point I was making is most female characters exist just for this, not depth of character, not personality, not ability. Just an image for men to stare at hence why this character has had special attention paid to it's arse which is pretty pathetic in and of itself, but hey, sells the game and gets it out there right?

And don't bring male character design into this because you know full well they are power fantasies but generally they are still developed as people. Marcus Fenix wasn't shat on because he was a grizzled "ugly" character, no he's a bad ass. Aloy comes out and the little men get offended.

Take it as you will, at the end of the day we're just people on the net.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Uncapped Frame Rate Put to the Test on PS5, Preview Build Averages 31fps

Stale-Bread

@TrickyDicky99 Nope because the scope and detail of a Rockstar game is another level, same as Red Dead 2. Visually Dragons Dogma 2 doesn't look so amazing to me it's mind blowing and making me think "wow this can barely hit a solid 30 fps" It looks no better than Horizon and Rebirth gives a pretty solid 30 and that has a pretty decent sized map. Could be limitations in the engine perhaps but it's odd there isn't a performance mode. I wonder what will happen with the new Monster Hunter? World was a very good looking game and the new one is open world, with this struggling to keep 30fps that will be slide show city.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Graphical Problems Are Clear in Digital Foundry Report

Stale-Bread

Just bad optimisation I would think. Red Dead 2 (even though I personally don't like the game) looks phenomenal even today running at a seemingly steady 30fps on a PS4 and that's 5 years old.

Also remember when is old people (near on 40 here) didn't give a toss about this kind of stuff? (I still don't) and played games with crap pal versions running at 12fps with jank galore. All this micro picking of everything on every game is ridiculous now. Look at this, watch this drop 4fps when in this scene and look at this low res texture and this and that. These are useful if the game is fundamentally broken but generally pretty pointless.

Old man ramble done!!

Re: 13 More Games Coming to PS Plus Extra, Premium This Month

Stale-Bread

Will they stop putting remasters/re-releases/retro collections in premium?! It's a joke. The whole premium thing was getting classic games so we all hopes for stuff like legacy or Kain, the resi games, silent hill, twisted metal, maybe vigilante 8, Dino Crisis, wipeout (although the soundtrack would probably halt that) even something like Pandemonium or Destruction Derby. What about some PsP titles or some new PS2 games. Sorry, drives me a teeny bit nutty.

Re: Stellar Blade's Protagonist's Body Is Based on This Real-World Korean Model

Stale-Bread

Got to wonder if blokes had all women look at them just for a "body" and literally nothing else and when that body wanes they get ditched or shat on opinions would probably be different. Also wondering if these same men as present in this comment section are peak male attractiveness to be calling out women like Aloy as "ugly" doubt it. Game looks hack n slash selling of T/A bit judging by what I read through these comments it seems to be working.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Watching the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play?

Stale-Bread

Nope, games get shown way way to much and then on top you have leaks and then when the game releases douchebags deliberately spoiling even more. I really liked the first part so was set on playing the next installment anyway, I want to see the way the world works, enemy updates etc when I play it form the first time rather than already know 50% of it as Square don't seem to be able to control their hype train.

Re: Of Course Full Price Remake Persona 3 Reload Has a Full Spread of Day One DLC

Stale-Bread

It is ONLY cosmetic but it's on principle that people should complain about it. Yeah it's just outfits and some music that most won't care about BUT some people (like me) enjoy using them and while it's one thing to drop these 6-12 months after releasing the game it's another to have them there day 1. Why is it so expensive as well? It's more money than Granblue and Resi 4 Remake was on release but it isn't quite as egregious as new game plus behind a paywall, that's some scummy move right there regardless of it being a bit more. They just shoved it on the more expensive versions to push those that want it to eek extra dough. Yes they need to make money, yes they aren't a charity but there is customer goodwill which increase customer retention and gives positive brand recognition. SEGA are apparently dumb to this concept and repeatedly make dumb move after dumb move, Sonic Superstars being the most recent....until now.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want from Sony and PlayStation in 2024?

Stale-Bread

I'd like there first party output to actually have an output. What the hell are some of their studios actually doing? Insomniac seem to be making Super Hero games and where as I was looking forward to an ultra violent animalistic Wolverine game we seem to be getting a 12+ Spiderman starring Logan. Santa Monica haven't made anything for PS5 yet, neither have Guerilla. Naughty Dog just release remastered versions of games that quite frankly don't need one. Sucker Punch seem to have done bugger all since GoT in 2020, Bungie nothing and Bluepoint remastered Demons Souls and........nothing comes to mind.

If they have to remake/remaster their old Stuff can we have things like Bloodborne perhaps, the original GoW games or maybe even some of the more Niche stuff they have made.

As for Plus the premium tier should be scrapped completely and those games added to extra or start giving us some Ps1 games that would make us want to actually pay for it. You know, those hard or rare games or just a big catalogue of titles that we can buy/download from the old days rather than the lacklustre offering currently there.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for January 2024?

Stale-Bread

It's a pretty scummy move that they keep putting games like the street fighter collection, the Dooms and modern remasters of old games in the premium tier. Yeah they are OLD games but recent modern console releases of them. This should be the place reserved for something like the PS1 ports of games like Street Fighter Ex, or Rival Schools. Also I did drop my tier from Premium to extra as it's just terrible imo (and I accidentally subbed to it when I first got my PS5 last November lol)

I was wanting things like the Vigilante 8 games, fear effect, Tomb Raider, Dino Crisis, ISS and ISS Pro, Pandemonium, Spider, Rayman, Croc and loads more of their own first party stuff. Awful selection at the moment.
