Re: All-Time Low Prices in New PS Store Bethesda Sale

@Stragen8 you cant go wrong with the first as a starting point, its the best in my view. The second is more of the same but with nicer graphics, but still enjoyable. Death of the Outsider is more of a expansion pack syle experience, it was just ok, not much more. If you enjoy stealth games, and intresting worlds (e.g Bioshock) i'd recommend grabbing the first 2. There not for everyone though.

ThorsHammer

Awesome, been holding out on Crash 4 for a while, this will be great. Man of Medan is...meh. i actually think the other Dark Picture games are much better then prople give credit, but i really can't defend that first entry, its mediocre and big stumble back from Until Dawn. Anyhow i guess if you were curious, this is a painless way to try it. No intrest in Arcadegeddon, it aint my thing at all. Its a good month for me though cause of Crash.

@BritneyfR_ee well done, yep last segments in world 1 will test you but just stack up on healing and at that level you'll do fine. The Penetrator boss is one of my favorites, once you key into his rhythem he's simple. And if you don't want it to end...do like i did, dive into Dark Souls afterwards, its demon souls' unoffcial sequel in many ways.

PS5
Foul Play
Am clearing up my ps plus backlog and randomly tried this title. Man, if you like beat em ups, this game is incrediable. Its premise and setting is offputting but the combat is so addictive and tasty. What a gem, really happy to come across this one.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
One of my gaming shames is never having played this one. Finally giving it good go after some false starts. Doesnt feel dated, asides from stats and inventory, so many modern games have taken from this that its easy to pick up. Currently at the Doppleganger boss.

Quest 2 via PC
Wizards: Dark Times
Not a very deep campaign, pretty much linear combat scenarios with some climbing, plus the music and sound design is budget - but good lord is the spell casting fun! So much variety to mix up combos and cast types. Reminds me of that PS Move game Sorcery...but actually delvers on the motion control spell promise.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 428

ThorsHammer

@Ryany yeah i love part 4 as well, its in my top 3 best games ever, but to say that 4 and 8 are nothing alike is a bit of stretch. In fact, it feels like a blatent attempt from Capcom to combine 7s gameplay with several aesthetic elements of 4. Both share similar isolated rural European villages, both are highly influenced by classic gothic horror (unlike the other entries which are influenced by 80s genre cinema), both start the games with frantic swarm of enemies rushing you, and also 8 brings back the mercent which first apppeared in part 4 and quickly disappeared from the series since. When i say its a blend of 4 and 7, im talking on a superfical level, its not a reflection on quality. However i am enjoying it so far, but as you warned, things dip after the castle section.

Shadow of the Colussus remake
Its been odd revisiting this one. The original blew me away, and how could it not? There was nothing like it at the time. It subverted the openworld, action/adventure and platformer genre in one go, and created a haunting, emotional experience. Since then though, so many games have copied it thats its not as special and a little slight. Regardless, this is a great way to relive it via Bluepoints control and visuals.

Resident Evil 8
Returned to this one, am at the castle. Cool blend of 7 and 4, love that the merchent mechanic is back too...only critique is that i just prefer RE in third person.

PC Game Pass
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games
Streaming this to my phone, and touch controls are well done. This one is a cracker, awesome premise and involving puzzles.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?

ThorsHammer

Im mixed. None of these games are crying out for adaptions. Something like Last of Us or God of War are such cinematic experiences already, the only plus side i see of the show is watching it with people who don't touch games, and sharing it with them. Something like Twisted Metal is lot more flexiable for adaptation, so could be fun. If any are good, ill watch, if any suck, i still have the games...at the end of the day, im perfectly fine if none of these existed either.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS Plus Extra or Premium?

ThorsHammer

The Extra tier is fantastic if your new to PlayStation or dont own most first-party, but thats not me. Im intrested in the retro stuff, and am quite pleased with the Nos style additions (plus the linked backlog), but for right now the titles they showcased havent grabbed me yet...most were already on PS Now already. Still I'm pleasently surprised and will give it a shot at some point, just not in a rush to join day one.

PS5
Destiny 2
Got back into this only recently so a whole bunch of lore and content is vaulted, however, doesnt matter. Gameplay is so slick, Legendary difficulty in co op is just the right level of challenge with fun. Am proper hooked on this for the first time.

PC Game Pass
Trek to Yomi
Love it. Am a huge Kurosawa fan, and while this is bit more genre pulpy then his output, the visual style is on point. The combat, is quick and addictive and levels are jawdropping. Play this game people, its fantastic!

Switch
No More Heroes 2
Ovef halfway. Big improvment over the first, enjoying it alot so far.

Re: PS Plus Could Be About to Land Bloober Team's Catalogue

ThorsHammer

Played majority of their stuff and its a mixed bag. Layers of Fear 1 was great on launch but a little dated now, Blair Witch was meh, and The Medium is really disappointing (was excited for an old school survival horror homage, but it was just boring). Observer, however, is awesome, and a fantastic swan song for Hauer. For those curious about their backlog, having them on a subscription service is a good place to give them a look actually.

Switch
No More Heroes 2
Just burned through the first game over last week - had played it back on the Wii and its a deserved cult classic despite its extreme rough edges. First time trying the sequel and its a highly improved version of the original. Gone is the boring commuting, the tasks are actually fun and the combat much smoother. Also the wackiness is more consistent and amusing. Really enjoying so far.

Quest 2
Half-life Alyx
Over the halfway point. Such a great title, slightly bummed due to some tech glitches its not always smooth, will prob replay it on the inevitable PSVR 2 port.

PC GAME PASS
Guardians of the Galaxy
Got Trek to Yumi downloaded and ready to go but figured I'd knock this one off the backlog first. Kind of happy Eidos Montreal looks to have found a better home and this title is more likely to get a sequel, its really impressive so far.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 424

ThorsHammer

@KilloWertz yh i had a similar experience with spyro, started it all hyped after finishing Crash N Sane trilogy but it was a much different game. I didnt touch it for a year again, but then got back into it while i was struggling with Returnal. Its pretty enjoyable as a switch your brain off detour while playing something more demanding...just dont expct more then a colorful collectathon with cool looking levels.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 424

ThorsHammer

Well this week finally finished Returnal, what a relief! A relentlessly tough but a one-of-a-kind experience, even in the roguelite space it feels quite unique. Im going to play some easier games before diving into Elden Ring finally.

PS5
Resident Evil Villiage
Started this one up and finished the first werewolf attack. Such a cool blend of RE4 with RE7. Only thing that annoys me is it would be incrediable in VR, in fact it feels built for it. Im guessing this will come out for the PSVR2, but at that point ill have already completed.

Quest 2
Ninja Legends
Short and simple arcade-y wave slasher with nonstop ninjas. Lots of fun if pretty damn challenging in the later stages. Will prob wrap over the weekend.

Half-life Alyx
Paused my intial playthrough due to airlink streaming issues. Now playing via Virtual Desktop and its been slightly better. Am at the halfway point.. what else can i say? Its a masterpiece. Still have to pinch myself that im playing a new game by Valve.
