I fooled around with it in Game Pass for a bit years ago, it was fun for a session but couldn't really see the appeal past that, I think it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Was really excited for some gameplay to be finally revealed, its been two years since they announced. I love the idea of this in VR, but until they actually show me it, I'm still on the fence.
I wish they would stop using their non-Gaas studios to do GaaS games. I don't have anything against the genre, but it will likely just get cancelled and waste a chunk of resources and time. It happened with Insomniac, Naughty Dog, FireSpirite and London Studio. Buy Arrowhead, and let them and Bungie make GaaS games and let everyone else do what they do best.
No issue, it really comes down to player choice too, you don't have to put on her barely there outfit if you don't want to...but if like me, you probably will lol.
Well now we know which Firespirite game is done. Bummer, the rumor was they were going to have a VR mode which would've been cool, still more excited that their original narrative horror game though...hopefully still in the works.
Started this on Game Pass on launch but didnt stick with it, might give it a second go on my preferred platform, and help support more Xbox stuff on PS5. Remember, if it sells well, we'll likely get more titles from them.
Looks like its time i played the game, ive enjoyed and beaten all former From ARPGs, the open world for this initially turned me off on, but so did no blocking in Bloodborne, and that became my favourite. With that said, From DLC has a habit of making the base game look like a walk in the park...ill make sure to bring my big boy pants.
@itsfoz not likely, it came out in the Insomniac leak when they dropped Horizon Forbiden West on the service half a year after release, it sank sales majorly and ongoing. From that I assume they won't try something similar again.
@MFTWrecks do you have a PSVR 2? I have to say, I couldn't stand Surviaval titles but got addicted to Song in the Smoke. The immesive format did the trick for me and I burned through Green Hell straight after. NMS is next on the list...
It was a better PS Showcase then the last official PS Showcase. Very good start to the year, wish we got more VR, but the 2 games shown were juicy. We're getting back to back 2nd party exclusives for the first quarter. Plus, they chucked a fan pleasing tidbit like Kojima is making a PS5 original spy thriller, that blew me away (and it wasnt done via a random blog post). The secrative Ryan era feels over.
@Sanquine the big buzz is it will be a Metro VR game title subtitled Awakenings. Deep Silver made a deal with Vertigo to bring 5 of their IPs to headsets, so it's not far fetched. Fingers crossed.
I played this one already via Netflix phone app, its one of the few games that worked via mobile format for me. Pretty gripping eventually with some creepy moments, plus main actress is phenomenal.
@LazyLombax yeah, or eventually comes to PS Plus Essential in a few months. Feels like all paid games as services do eventually (e.g Aliens Fire Team, Fall Guys, Predator Hunting Ground).
@thefourfoldroot1 I've got to get back to RE4 vr, got to the castle then got hooked on Song in the Smoke, now knocking out 7th Guest. Think probably just delaying finishing since it's so damn good.
PSVR 2 7th Guest VR Am loving this one, thick lovely atmosphere, challenging but fun puzzles and intriguing old school plot. Great stuff.
Pixel Ripped 1978 Not really digging it, which is weird, I loved the former ones but things just didnt click. I'm not nostalgic about the era like the former ones, the games within the game are meh, and first person stuff is average. Was hyped for it but am struggling to push forward with it, even if im halfway.
Switch Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Awesome stuff, am a massive fan of the original trilogy and this is a pitch perfect continuation. Challenging levels, inventive design and the best boss fights of the series.
PS5 Fist of the Northstar: Lost Paradise Good cheesy old school anime with gory combat. It's fairly shallow with silly filler but does what you would want a FotNS game to do to a tee.
@__jamiie yes that's what I'm saying, they have paid Capcom to bring 2 RE titles within 1 year, exclusively to the headset in free modes, how do think business transactions work? Why is it not on any other platforms? Sony pays for that exclusivity. I'm in agreement, Sony aren't sharing any plans about VR, but if you hadn't noticed, they aren't about their flat games either. What outside Wolverine have they offcially revealed about the PS5 firstparty lineup? It's a frustrating stragedy, but it's a general company one, it's not exclusive to their headset. And no, my argument is not that Sony are doing amazing things cause they brought Vertigo 2 to the headset...I'm saying cheer up, stop complaining and enjoy the game.
@__jamiie umm who do you think paid for Capcom to convert RE:V and RE4 to VR? The studio didn't do it out the kindness of their hearts. I agree, I wish they'd be more transparent about the VR roadmap, but i can say that about their console roadmap too. To say their doing absoltelty nothing is a stretch, VR is a small market, wins like getting the best PCVR game of 2023 as a console exclusive is a reason to celebrate not complain.
@thefourfoldroot1 completely agree, hybrid games are the way. A triple A VR game has just not proven feasible for big studios (look at EA with MoH and Insomniac with their Rift titles) there's no money in it compared to flat games, so they pull out. With hybrids they can have their cake and eat it, and VR players reap the rewards.
A little transperecy. I'm getting beyond tired of not knowing what firstparty games are coming for PS5 and PSVR 2. Less iron wall secrecy would be great.
@UltimateOtaku91 we're on the same page though. I'm not saying it's a roaring success, however, the constant notion it's a stonking failure is not a fact either, or to quote the article 'to say its had a tough year is an understatement'. VR is a niche market, small victories like outpacing its last gen version (which was proven in their Q1 results), and putting out more exclusive yearly content then the console itself, should be celebrated, not criticised. Sales stats aside, I think I'm really more salty about the constant notion it has no games, or noteworthy ones, when it definetly does.
Man I'm getting really tired of journalist dropping comments about PSVR 2 like 'hasn't sold much and noteworthy games are few and far between' with nothing to back it up. The last part of this year has been stacked and to date, the tech has outsold the last gen in parallel already. Can they acknowledge that it has recieved more exclusives releases this year then the PS5 console itself? VR is niche, I get it, but there are substantial facts that contradict both those points if they actually bothered.
This is a great line up. Personally, Evil West looks like some solid PS3 era fun. I already played Requiem on GP, but happy to own it, its a great game. I have Nobody on switch and will probably stick to playing portable.
Seems an odd reason to point blame at, I think if Ultra wasn't a messy flop they wouldn't be throwing in the towel...yet the VR market would still be at the same place.
Man, such a shame to see this happen to most companies, but especially Insomniac. Not only do they put out great content at a quick pace, they also supposedly have a fantastic infastructure that really takes care and respects their workers, having been voted and won best dev to work for numerous times.
PSVR 2 Resident Evil 4 Wow, just wow. I've played the original about a dozen times, and even in VR via Quest, but this is by far the best I've experienced it. Lovely graphics, great gameplay, and addictive loot/upgrade loop, this is top tier VR.
Song in the Smoke It took a while but I am hooked on this one. Its a rare case too, i cant stand survival games, but in VR im addicted. Finished the third map and managed to finally take out a giant Jaguar. The interactions and tools in this are so well thought out and immersive.
PS5 Fist of the Northstar: Lost Paradise Anime adaptation from Yakuza devs that's pretty faithful so far, the action is fun and straight from the source but there's ton of goofy filler. A decent time waster although not close to devs famous series.
That really sucks that all that time and hard work will be for nought, however, I am relieved...who wanted a live service game from Naughty Dog? Not me.
@HeeHo it's not as black and white nowadays though, ActiBlizz is owned by Microsoft, Bungie by Sony, but both are multiplat. Add to that, the leaked emails that Bethesda is extremely pissed that ActiBlizz will get to remain multiplat while their releases are forced to be exclusive. Then most odd, if Xbox has an exclusive, they love to put bright neon signs on it, but this trailer claimed none of that. So yes, I'm assuming that that this would be exclusive, but there is some room for doubt too.
Well, Judge literally said 'guess that's another group I won't ever work with' after his joke landed, no one's losing sleep angry CoD devs, go back to counting your moneybags.
